Saturday Morning Rambling

Here I sit yet once again in a quiet household, me and the cats are up watching Draft Day on HBO and collecting our thoughts for the day.

Well it is Halloween today, the one day of the year that everyone used to converge at Dad and Jean's and pass out candy to Trick or Treators. They are both gone now as is the home where this all took place, so new traditions begin this evening.

I'm going to pick up a bunch of Pizza's and we are going to meet up at my Niece Amy's house and enjoy out traditional feast this year before we sent the kids out to seek their sugared goodies. I'll have my camera and video camera in tow with me this evening to capture a few precious moments.

Today Michelle and I are planning on attending the Christmas Spectacular at the Ruby Community Center at Mylan Park. This is a three day event and this is the second day, we went last year and were really surprised at the number of people who showed up and the wide array of vendors who were present. Print out the coupon and get 50¢ off the price of admission. If you have never been to this before, it is well worth the price of admission and is a lot of fun.

Have yourselves a fantastic day and beware of all the ghost and goblins this evening, protect yourselves by giving them candy, they really like that.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes it is once again that time of the week that we all look foreword to, when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend, and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

Looking for a little bit of High School Football action? Well tonight is the night, the night that my Alma Mater takes on cross town University High in the MoHawk Bowl. The game will be played on our side of town as Morgantown travels to University High to put a major beat down on the Hawks this evening. This will be the last game of the season for University High regardless of the outcome of the game, Morgantown will advance to play in the first week of the playoffs next week. If they win, they should be hosting the first round game. Out in Blacksville, Clay Battelle plays host to Notre Dame High School.

Michelle and I will be attending the Arts & Crafts Christmas Spectacular this weekend at Mylan Park. anyone who is thinking about going can save themselves a little bit of money off of the admission price be printing out and submitting this coupon at the door. We attended this last year and Michelle absolutely loved it. We had a few things made and we had a blast walking around looking at all of the Christmas Crafts that were on display everywhere. It's more than worth the price of admission to anyone who is even thinking about going. You won't regret it and you will definitely find a few Christmas ideas.

A couple of nights ago we got an unpleasant surprise, a car had crashed into the guardrail in front of the house and ripped up not only the guardrail but also took out Mailboxes out in the process. I guess whoever did this left their car and took off on foot leaving the car buried under the guardrail, my guess is alcohol was involved but that is just an assumption on my part from the little bit of information I know.

Have yourselves a Great day and let's go Mohigans.

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out and look through some of the 30,000 photographs that I have either captured with a lens, scanned or just simply stolen off of the internet, Little lost moments in time that I like to post up and reflect upon with everyone. It's one of my funnest blogs of the week that I do, but it can be a little tricky at times, it is always enjoyable though reliving the past.

With Halloween coming up on us very quickly, I felt I had to pay tribute to a person and place that was such a positive memory to so many people on the one Holiday we can all relate to. This was Halloween last year, it was her last Halloween as she passes away just a couple short months after this picture and the house is no longer in the family. So this picture is a group picture from the last Halloween spent at Anmal's house (what the nieces and nephews called her).

Unfortunately I had to miss this event last year as I spent this night preparing for a Colonoscopy and spent most of that evening very close to our very own water closet.

I guess this picture could be titled the end of an era, because this was the closing of one book and this year will be the opening of a new chapter.

Have a great day.

Hump Day

Well that's two days down and we have two ahead of us, now all we need to do is get up and over that noon time hump it will be all down hill as we work towards another fun filled weekend.

The hardest day of the week for me to write a blog has not changed, I've mentioned before that Wednesday was a difficult day for me to come up with content. It's a day in the middle of the week that follows the tidbits and a time when we are just buried in the middle of another work week.

With Halloween coming up this weekend, I have seen that both Val and Amy are making all of the kids costumes and they are using a Wizard of Oz Theme for all of them. I'm kind of anxious to see them all since they have put so much time and resources into making these costumes.

I think Michelle is wanting to do another DaVinci and Dessert painting class in the next month or so. Her Kim and Brittany did one this past August (See picture) and she has been looking at doing another one with more of a Winter Theme I'm understanding. I know Michelle really enjoyed it, so if anyone may be interested in going, get in touch with her and maybe you can get together and make it a special event.

Have yourselves a Great Day.

Tuesday's Tidbits

* Well that dreaded and dreary day of the week that we all despise so much, the day that our new work week starts again, is now behind us and we are looking at a wonderful Tuesday. Still can't think of a better reason to do a tidbits.

* It has been 18,958 days since my birth, I consider each and every one of them a gift and a blessing.

* It has been 4,181 days since I graduated from West Virginia University.

* There have been 2,782 days that have passed since Michelle and I went out on our first date together.

* 2,006 days ago, I asked and Michelle accepted and we became engaged.

* 1,543 days ago in front of our closest family and friends, Michelle had our wedding and we all feasted.

* I have about 5,879 days to go until retirement, give or take a few hundred here or there.

* There are only 2,517 days to go until the renewal of the Backyard Brawl in Football between WVU and Pitt.

* We have 320 days to go until we head out once again on Cruise 2016, this will be our Fifth Cruise.

* There are only 284 more days to go until Michelle and I celebrate our Fifth Wedding Anniversary.

* There are only 145 more days to go until Spring 2016, my favorite season of the year.

* I have 65 more days to write content before my Goodbye 2015 blog is posted.

* There are only 59  more shopping days left to go until Christmas, Black Friday is getting closer and closer.

*There are only 35 more days to go until the next anniversary of my 21st Birthday.

* There are only 14 more days to go until my sisters and my wife all go to the Taste of Home Cooking show.

* There are only 12 more days until Michelle and I go see the Steelers vs Raiders, this is part of the prize package we won for winning Steelers Trivia this year.

* There are only 12  more days until Ang's Baby Shower, an obvious conflict with previous plans will be a conflict for us.

* This is my 4,242nd blog that I have written for George's Journal.

* Nothing new on the Brother Search this week, we are currently at a dead end and not moving forward.

* Working on the Hall Family Tree, adding a number of details to the 199 people currently in the database. That number will grow very soon.

* The Mountaineers actually play on Thursday Night this week instead of Saturday. This might just be a game I DVR just in case but sleep during it.

* There were actually not only one, not two articles, not three articles but four articles posted yesterday in the Dominion Post about NETL. As some of you know I work on the NETL NATCARB Atlas.

* Have I ever mentioned that I Hate Snow.

* Tuesday's Tidbits is always the most time consuming blog of the week, it actually takes time to organize all those numbers and keep track of everything.

* I'm getting my new office at work next week, I've been cleaning up the old one and organizing the new one to get ready for my transition. I've only moving a couple of feet physically, but I will have an office with a door rather than a cubical now.

* With Morgantown starting the $3 per week user fee for anyone who works within City limits, here is an Interactive City Map so you can determine if this has any impact on you or not.

* Have yourselves a great day.

Monday

Well all good things must come to an end, and that includes these fun filled or relaxing weekends that we all look forward to and love so much. Now it is time to stick our noses back on that perpetual grindstone and get back to doing what we do for a living for another week.

Truth be told it was a pretty uneventful weekend for Michelle and I and the week ahead looks to be about the same. This is just that time of the year when we live pretty much boring and uneventful lives, although we have stuff planned for the next couple of weekends with Halloween coming up next weekend and the Steeler game the week after that on our agenda. Sometimes it's just nice to have weekends like this.

One thing that I have been doing the past couple of weeks is playing a Computer Game that I bought well over ten years ago and never played until recently. Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault was a game that I purchased when the game was first released. I had played Allied Assault with my Brother in law George and my nephew Moke (George), and this was just another game in that series. For some reason I didn't play it very long at all, I actually forgot about it even, but I found it a few weeks ago and installed it and have been playing it. Sometimes you have to let the big kid in you out....lol

Have a great day

Sunday Morning

Well here I sit once again in a quiet household, I love the early AM as everything is so quiet and peaceful. I'm up watching Amy Schumer on HBO and collecting my thoughts for the day.

We got a few things done around the house yesterday which included a trip to Lowes. For the last few years we have purchased a some kind of animated collectible for Christmas. This year is no different and we have purchased this years collectible yesterday, a Santa Ferris Wheel to go along with our snow globe and the Michelle's Cookie Factory. There were a number of Towne Carole collection items for 2015 that we were looking at, but he Ferris Wheel is what most appealed to Michelle.

We did watch a movie last night that neither Michelle nor I had ever seen. Amazingly neither one of us had seen Goodfellas in its entirety, so we purchased it on Amazon and that was our evenings entertainment. For a 2 1/2 hour movie, neither one of us were a bit bored at any time during the movie. I can't believe it has taken Michelle or I 25 years to actually see this movie in its entirety.

Today's plans are simply grocery shopping for the week and finishing up our laundry. The Steelers play the Kansas City Chiefs this afternoon, so that may be our Sunday excitement. There is a balloon launch scheduled for 7:00 this morning, but I don't know how cooperative the weather is going to be.

Have yourselves a great day today.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit yet once again in a quiet household. I'm the only one to recover from getting knocked out by the dreaded Sandman last night and I'm up with the TV on in the background and collecting my thoughts for the day.

No plans for Michelle and I today, there is no Football in Morgantown as the Mountaineers are off this weekend so it could just simply be a relaxing and boring day rather than one of any adventure. It's just getting to that time of the year, however we are thinking about heading out to Amish Country within the next few weeks.

One thing we are thinking about doing this evening is going to the Koon Families celebration of 49 years singing together this evening. Festivities start at 7:00 PM and we may very well be in attendance if Michelle is feeling up to it.

The Morgantown Balloon Festival actually had a launch yesterday afternoon, there were a number of pictures all over the net about the launch. They are scheduled to launch today at 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM as well as tomorrow morning at 7:00 AM.

Have yourselves a great and relaxing day.

The Morgantown High Mohigans travel to Moundsville to take on John Marshall High School. University High is trying to extend their winning streak to two games as they travel to Kingwood to take on Preston and Clay Battelle travels to Paden City. All three local High School teams are on the road this week and the Mountaineers are off this week, so if you want to see any football in Monongalia County this week you'll have to go down to the Jr High School ranks to see a game.

I managed to get to see my Brother Gary last yesterday. This was the first time that I have spoken to him since that fateful night this past August. We talked for a couple hours and had a good time.

Michelle had her surgery yesterday morning, more like a scope done under sedation like they had to do four times so far this year. A lining in her stomach keeps closing up, but she is doing much better now.

Have yourselves a great day.

This weeks pic is a selfie that I took earlier this year. Michelle and I were looking for something to do one day early this Spring so we headed North to Ohiopyle State Park for the day. We had ourselves a little picnic in our favorite picnic area and spent the day at this place that we enjoy so much.

Looking around that day, being it had been a couple of years since we were last there, we noticed a number of changes and upgrades that had been made to the entire park. Anyways there is a picnic area (actually the main picnic area) that we like to go to. We always drive towards the back side of it where it is so much nicer, actually have restroom facilities and is a lot less crowded. You can have your peace and solitude back there is you choose.

Have yourselves a great day

Hump Day

Well that is two days that we have in, now if we can just get up and over this noon time hump we are only a couple days away from another relaxing weekend.

Michelle had to make an emergency trip home yesterday, her Uncle is not doing well and she wanted to run home and see him before the inevitable happened. He has been battling cancer for some time now and hospice has been called in. (At the time of me writing this she is in transit to Ohio) Please keep your thoughts and prayers with Michelle, her Uncle and his family at this difficult time.Sometimes you just have to drop everything and be where you need to be. I will update as needed.

This should be a somewhat relaxing weekend around Morgantown. The Mountaineer Football team is off this week but Mountaineer Madness, the start of the WVU Basketball Practices is this Saturday at the Coliseum.

Also Saturday evening, the Gospel Singing Koon Family will be singing at Kingdom Evangelical Methodist Church in Westover starting at 7:00. This will celebrate 49 years of singing together.

Oh and be on the lookout today for the Flying DeLorean because this is today.

Have yourselves a Great day.

Tuesday's Tidbits

* Well that dreadful and Chilly Monday is now past us and we are staring straight down the barrel of a Tuesday. Can't think of a better reason to do a tidbits.

* Everyone needs to pay real close attention tomorrow. It's the day Marty McFly and Doc come to today from 1985. Be on the lookout for flying cars, I want to go back in time and change a few things at WVU. =)

* 18,951 days ago I was born, for you mathematicians out there you  have to figure that each year is about 945 days long to get my correct age.

* It has been 4,174 days since I graduated from West Virginia University. It was the better later start than never mentality...lol

* It was 2,775 days ago that Michelle and I went out on our very first date.

* 1,999 days ago we partied like it's....wait, we got engaged on that day, still a party though!!!!

* It was 1,535 days ago that Michelle and I had our wedding at the Marilla Center.

* I have around 5,886 days to go until I reach retirement, give or take a few hundred here or there.

* There are only 2,524 more days to go until WVU and Pitt play football once again in the Backyard Brawl.

* Yes wee booked early this year so we know where our cabin will be, it's only a mere 327 more days to go until Cruise 2016.

* We have 291 more days to go until Michelle and I celebrate our Fifth Wedding Anniversary. Yeah Us.

* My favorite season starts in a mere 152  more days, come one Springtime. I Hate Snow.

* My goodbye 2015 Blog will post in 72 more days.

* There are only 66 more shopping days left to go until Christmas.

* In just a mere 42 more days I will celebrate my 21st Birthday (see above math). It'll be nice to be legal to consume a wine cooler.

* In just 21 more days all of my siblings will be attending the Taste of Home Cooking show. They are all doing he VIP package this year, I hope that they all have a great time.

* There are only 19 more days until we go to Pittsburgh for the Steelers vs Raiders game. This is the prize we got for winning Steelers Trivia again.

* With a conflict to our schedule, Ang's Baby Shower will also be in just 19 more days. We may not be physically able to make it to this event, but we'll do our shopping.

* I have written a total of 4,235 Blogs in the little over 11 years it has been since I started writing this blog. It's not easy to stay with something for that long of a period of time and do it consistently.

* Nothing new on the Brother Search, big surprise there.

* I updated a whole lot of entries in the Hall Family Tree this past week. I purchased the subscription so that I could fill in a lot of information from other trees who have already done the research.

* Fin is growing at a remarkable rate, she is really acclimated to her new surroundings and has adopted Sophie as either her Mommy or big sister. They get along great.

* Michelle wants me to be on the lookout for Church Bazaars, so if anyone knows of any or sees any around town either let her or I know.

* Have yourselves a great day

Monday

All good things must unfortunately come to an end, and that even includes those short couple of fun filled days we refer to as weekends. It's time to stick our collective noses back on the grindstone for another fun filled week of doing what it is we do for a living.

For Michelle and I this past weekend was pretty much uneventful. There were no exciting adventures, other than getting our jewelry and having it's semi-annual inspection on all of them. When we buy jewelry we buy the lifetime insurance on it, but you have to have it inspected every six months and that is exactly what we did on Saturday.

On our way to the Mall we did manage to see Bonita and Robert before they both left to either go home or their next destinations. I know Bonita and Bob are talking about buying a house and moving to Spokane Washington, I guess they have lived in Alaska long enough and want to get back into the Continental US.

Have yourselves a Great Day

Sunday

Here I sit once again on a quiet Sunday Morning, only me and the Cats are up, Michelle is still sound asleep. I'm up with the TV on HBO, I think Amy Schumer is on but I'm not really paying attention, and I'm licking my wounds from yesterday and collecting my thoughts for the day.

Well I did hear from very tragic news yesterday from two loved ones. First it was my niece Val and later my sister Kim and they had both confirmed the tragedy. That it was actually snowing in Preston County yesterday afternoon and evening.

I'm not sure if I have ever mentioned it before on this blog, but I Hate Snow. I don't care for the cold stuff, give me shorts and sandals and I'm happy not frozen white burden that falls from the skies and impedes everyone's ability to navigate to their desired destinations. I know it's pretty to look at, but no I don't want to build a snowman and if I worked for Disney I would have come come up with the sequel to Frozen....MELTED.

The weather was the least of my worries yesterday, the Mountaineers traveled to Baylor yesterday and had our butts handed to us 62-38 by the number 2 team in the country. Could have been worse though, did anyone see the ending of the Michigan and Michigan State game? One of the most exciting finishes in College Football history, that was epic to say the least.

No big plans for us today, grocery shopping will be the highlight of our day along with the Steelers Game this afternoon. Maybe the Steelers can help me lick my wounds from yesterday with a win against Arizona this afternoon.

Have a great day.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Mom, Robert, Bonita
Here I sit yet once again in a quiet household, even the cats are asleep, I'm up watching the highly educational movie Legal Blondes 2 and collecting my thoughts for the day.

I'm not sure what the day has in store for us, I'm pretty sure that Bonita and Robert are still in town today. I'm thinking Robert is scheduled to head back to Ohio today and I think Bonita will be here again for another day. Not sure if they have any plans today or if they do what those plans are.

I know my sister Kim had a big project kick off yesterday where she was supposed to work until this morning, but it got pushed back to today due to some technical things that may have went wrong.

After a long week for Michelle I'm not sure what mine and Michelle's plans are today. I might just let her sleep in and not get her up and do a whole lot of running around. or at least I should say that there are no plans to do anything today..lol

There are a number of events happening around town today and the Mountaineers travel to #2 Baylor for a game at Noon so that may be factored into my plans for the day. We upset them last year and they will be looking to extract some revenge this afternoon.

Have yourselves a great day.

Looking for a little High School Football action? Well the Morgantown High Mohigans are at home against Riverside in what I believe to be Morgantown's Homecoming Game. I should now this being an alum...lol University High travels to Lewis County still looking for their first win of the season tonight and Clay Battelle travels to Cameron.

Well Bonita's visit went very well last night, I have set up an album on Facebook where all of the pictures from last night and this weekend can be placed and shared. I know that they have some plans over the next couple of days of visiting a number of grave sites. I know they are wanting to visit my Grandmother and my Grandfather's grave sites as well as my Great Grandfather's site to name just a few.

Have yourselves a Great Day

Happy Birthday Brittany Dae Cummings

I would like to take this opportunity to wish my beautiful niece Brittany Dae a very happy birthday today.

I remember the day she was born like it was just yesterday. I remember sitting in the waiting room watching Who's the Boss on the Television, it was a syndicated rerun at about 4:00 in the afternoon, when the announcement had came in and Brittany had entered this world.

I had the honor of welcoming her to the West Virginia University Alumni earlier this year and yesterday she kicked butt in an interview and hopefully a job offer will soon come her way.

Not sure what Brittany's plans are today, I know Kim has to work some strange hours to kick off a project where she works, so most of her time with Brittany will be in the morning.

If you see Brittany Dae today, make sure that you take a little bit of time out and wish her the happiest of birthdays.

Happy Birthday Brittany.

Bob, Bonita, Mom

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out, time to look through some of the 30,000+ images that I have either captured with a camera, scanned or just stolen off the internet somewhere. I like to select just one of these little lost moments in time and briefly relive it here for everyone. Like this week, sometimes it's a pretty easy task, and there are times that you do struggle. One thing it always is is a whole of fun to take a little bit of time out and relive your past.

This weeks picture was an easy one, I just had to find it. Tonight we will get a chance to see my Aunt that I have not seen in a little over 20 years. The picture that you see here was the last picture of my Mom and Bonita together. She had come in a year or so earlier with my Cousin Linda and then her and her husband Bob (Pictured) drove down for this pictures visit.

She was due to arrive late last night in Pittsburgh and there will be a little dinner at my sister Terri's this evening followed by a get together at the church in Westover. We are looking forward to seeing her and I think my Uncle Robert is also coming into town this evening, so it be a rare opportunity to get a picture of the three of them together.

Hump Day

Well we have this work week off and running, now if I can just bet up and over this noon time hump it'll be all downhill as we head towards another fun filled weekend.

I'm not sure when my Aunt Bonita is going to arrive, if she is not already here or due to arrive soon, but we do have a dinner planned for her at Terri's tomorrow afternoon. It'll be nice to see her, I think it has been better than 20 years since I last saw her in person. Of course my camera and video camera will all be in tow with me to capture the moment.

Congratulations go out to the WVU Women's Soccer team, they are currently the #2 ranked team in the country behind Florida State who is the defending National Champions. As far as I know, this is the highest ranking the Women's Soccer team has ever achieved. Congratulations Girls, keep going.

Michelle has been having some stomach pains recently, I made her go to the Doctor to have it checked out. It may result in Physical Therapy or possibly a scope to see what the problem is with her Doctor. It's causing her a great deal of discomfort, so we need to find out the cause of this and see what we can do to alleviate the problem for her. I hate seeing her in pain.

Have yourselves a great day.

Columbus Day

Well some of us (myself being included in the some) will have today off as a Federal Holiday. Today is Columbus Day and I'm thankful that for me that means I get to extend my weekend one more day.

When Columbus first found land here, it is believed that he found his first land at San Salvador Island, or for those of you who follow our yearly cruises it is our Grand Turk Port that is always our first port of call and where we snorkel at every year.

We did make a nice purchase yesterday. Being that we have three TV's in the house, the living room (which has a Roku), the spare bedroom (which is a smart TV) and now our bedroom as well. We don't have cable in our bedroom, and the TV was not internet capable so we purchased an Apple TV to hook up to that TV yesterday. We already have a Roku and a Smart TV, now this gives us three different options as to how we stream content to televisions. The only thing I haven't seen is a Chromecast, but that doesn't bother me because they all offer the same apps, The only difference is the Apple TV doesn't offer Amazon Video, but I can use airplay from my phone to push both the video and audio to the TV.

Have yourselves a Great Day

Sunday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit once again in a quiet household, Fin and I are up and collecting our thoughts for the day. We are surfing the internet and reading some article about last nights game and watching something or another on HBO or some other channel.

Well as bad as the Mountaineers played in the first half yesterday, they did manage to fight back in the 2nd half to tie the game up and send it into Overtime. It was a hard fought battle, but we ended up dropping the Homecoming game 26-33 in Overtime to Oklahoma State last night. No time to lick our wounds as we travel to #3 Baylor next week and #2 TCU the week after that. It was a tough loss to take, but it's now time to look ahead rather than dwell on what didn't happen in the past.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are off today and will play tomorrow night, so this will be the second Sunday in a row with no Steelers game to watch today. Hopefully they can regroup from last weeks loss, the team needs to rally around Michael Vick until Ben Roethlisberger can return from he knee injury he suffered a couple of weeks ago.

With Morgantown High and University High both getting blown out this past Friday night, and throw that in with the Pirates getting shut out at home in the Baseball Wild Card game again I'm starting to wonder when Bob Huggins and the 2015-6 Mountaineer Basketball team will start practicing for their upcoming season.

Have yourselves a great day.

Say Hello to Fin

Here I sit once again in a quiet household, only me and the new house pet Fin are awake and we are up collecting our thoughts for the day and watching "That's My Boy" on Amazon.

Yes we now have a new Kitty in the house and she is still getting acclimated to her new surroundings. We picked her up last night and she is a quiet playful and a bundle of joy, but she is still trying to learn her way around the house. Sophie now has a new play mate, or will when Fin gets a little larger and a little more familiar with her environment.

Looking for a little bit of Football today? The Mountaineers are hosting Oklahoma State tonight at Milan Puskar Stadium at Mountaineer Field. We lost All-American Safety Karl Joseph earlier this week in a non contact related drill, he ended up tearing his knee up and he will be done for the season. He'll be playing next near in the NFL as he is just too vicious of a hitter and he will be missed. Hopefully the Mountaineers can rally around his absence and get a homecoming victory tonight. Tonight's game will be on ESPN 2.

No plans for Michelle and I other than house chores, it'll probably be a madhouse out around the town today, so that might not be such a bad thing.

Have yourselves a great day, I think Fin and I are going to see what kind of early morning chaos we can get ourselves into.

Have a great day.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes it is once again that time of the week that we all look foreword to, when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend, and a Big Ole Hairy Friday and a Three Day Holiday Weekend for me as Monday is Columbus Day!!!

Looking for a little bit of High School Football action? Well 4-1 Morgantown will be hosting Wheeling park this evening as the Northside Automotive AAA Game of the week. The Mohigans are ranked number 4 and Wheeling Park comes it ranked #9 in the state. University High is at home and will try to pick up their first win of this season tonight when they play undefeated and #1 ranked in AA Fairmont Senior. Clay Battelle is at home against undefeated and #7 ranked in A Bishop Donahue.

Michelle and I don't have any set in stone plans for the weekend, we are going to end up getting another cat since we had to put Chloe down a few weeks ago. This has caused our other Cat to need kitty Prozac as Michelle says, so we are going to get her another playmate. The new cat is about weened and we know where we are getting her from (See picture). Michelle has given me the honor of naming the new cat, but she doesn't like my name of Asshole...lol

Later this evening Michelle is going to get her 2016 Flu shot as Sam's Club, I had mine Monday at work and we want to get her protected for the 2-15-6 cold and flu season. It's better to be safe than sorry is what we always say.

Have yourselves a great day and let's get this three day weekend started.

Since this is the month of October, I thought I would make this weeks photo flashback something significant from this month. This picture is the first Halloween Michelle and I had ever spent together. This picture was actually used in the blog I wrote about from that night. It was the first time that Michelle had ever participating in a Halloween where she got to give out so much candy (estimated 300 people stopped by for goodies) and she loved it. She was in seventh heaven that night handing out treats.

This picture was taken of the two of us before the candy handing out actually started. It was a special night for both her and I, it was one of those special memories that I know Michelle holds very dear to her heart.

Have a great day.

Hump Day

Well here we are once again, two days in and two more ahead of us after today, now all we have to do is get our butts up and over that noon time hump today and it will all be downhill after that as we progress towards another weekend.

This is one of those days that I have creative brain farts. For some consistent reason it always tends to happen in the middle of the work week.

These are the days that you struggle for any content or anything new to say that you haven't already repeated a dozen times over. Other than the baseball playoffs starting there is really nothing new to report.

On that note Pittsburgh Pirate Baseball fans, the post season officially begins tonight for us. We have a one game Wild Card Series against the Chicago Cubs (the 2nd and 3rd Best records in all of baseball) for a chance to take on the St. Louis Cardinal (Best Record in Baseball) in the National League Divisional Series. This is a one and done game tonight, winner advances and the losers are eliminated and start the off season. The Major League Post Season starts now (actually last night).

Well one good thing I can report, on WVAQ's 50% Fridays Ali Babas Restaurant is going to be the featured deal on October 16th. I have bought a number of the 50% Fridays deals through the years, it's a great way to cut your dining bill by 50% to some great local restaurants. Now that Elias and Aaron are back this is a great place to eat once again.

Have yourselves a great day.

Tuesday's Tidbits

* Well that dreaded and dreary day called Monday is once again behind us and it's now a Tuesday, can't think of a better reason to do a tidbits.

* It has been a grand total of 18,937 days since my birth, a little over 21 years ago. No don;t try to do the math.

* It was 4,160 days ago that I Graduated from West Virginia University.

* 2,761 days ago I took a very special lady out for a first date, my life forever changed that night.

* It was 1,985 days ago that Michelle and I got engaged, I made her wait long enough so I proposed.

* 1,522 days ago in front of our closest friends and family, Michelle and I partied down and had a  wedding at the Marilla Center.

* I have about 5,900 more days to go until I retire, give or take a few hundred here or there of course.

* There are only 2,538 days to go until the renewal of the Backyard Brawl between WVU vs Pitt, we are beating their asses too.

* There are only 341 more days to go until we go on our 2016 Cruise, we hit it right the week we went this year as the Carnival Pride has had a few things to deal with the past two weeks.

* There are 305 days to go until Michelle and I Celebrate our Fifth Wedding Anniversary.

* There are only 166 days to go until my favorite season, Spring 2016. Have I ever mentioned that I hate snow?

* I have 86 more days of content to fill in before I publish my Goodbye 2015 blog for the year.

* If you are counting and paying attention there are 80 shopping days left until Christmas, that is a little over 11 weeks.

* There are only 56 days to go until my 21st (Again) Birthday.

* There are only 35 days to go until all my sisters and my niece Brittany all attend the  Taste of Home Cooking Show.

* There are only 33 more days to go until the Steelers vs Raiders game that will we be attending. Hopefully Big Ben will be back by then.

* I have written a total of 4,220 Blog Posts since I first started writing George's Journal a little over 11 years ago.

* We are 15 days away from the arrival of a Flying DeLorean arriving.

* Nothing new on the Hall Family Website this week, I'm about ready to start to do some scanning and adding content.

* Nothing new to report once again on the Brother Search, we are obviously at a stalemate right now.

* There is an Anne Frank Exhibit here at WVU during the month of October at the Erickson Alumni Center. Something nice and educational for everyone to see will be right here in Morgantown.

* Yes Michelle and I are now empty nesters once again. Chad and his 12' Python are now living in Westover, I have not been to his new Apartment yet but Michelle said it was pretty nice.

* A sad local story, the Skylar Neese Memorial that Dave and Mary have put so much time into, had their bench stolen recently. I don't know how low you have to be to steal a bench away from two grieving parents at a site where their daughter as murdered, but if you have anything do with this, please return it.

* It's really starting to get closer to that time when the leaves are changing colors, the weather is getting cooler and the days are getting shorter. This means we are starting to get ready to enter my least favorite season of the year. Snow. I HATE SNOW

* My Aunt Bonita is due to be in the Morgantown area next week, she is traveling from her home in Alaska to visit Mom. There will be a dinner on October 15th at the Westover Methodist Church for all who wish to see and join her.

* My 2015-6 Flu Shot has been administered, I'm good until next year.

* Have yourselves a great day

Monday Dreary Monday

All good things must come to an end, unfortunately for most of us that includes those fun filled and relaxing days that we all look forward to, the weekend has come to an end and it is time to stick our collective noses back on to the grindstone for another fun filled week of work.

The week ahead looks like a pretty uneventful one for me outside of work, the good news is next Monday is Columbus Day and a Federal Holiday, meaning that I will have a three day weekend coming up. Most people including Michelle are scheduled to work, but I am fortunate that this will be  holiday for me. To tell you the truth though, I would prefer to have the day after Thanksgiving as opposed to Columbus Day, but that's just my opinion.

They will be issuing flu shots at work starting today, I've gotten them the past 3 or 4 years. Ever since that one year that I was really sick around Christmas, don't like being sick and this is a very good preventive way of avoiding the flu bug that I've already battled this season. It's a personal decision that I used to be opposed to, but have had much more success having it rather than not having it over the past few years. I guess that just goes with getting older.

Have yourselves a great day and a great start to another week of work.

Sunday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit yet once again in a quiet household, I'm the first one to awaken from a losing battle with that dreaded Sandman from last night and I'm up collecting my thoughts for the day and watching Men in Black on some channel on the TV.

I'm finally feeling much better, but Michelle is still battling a sore throat and a little bit of a headache. We didn't get into anything yesterday other than Michelle running Chad to Lowes and to work yesterday morning, all I did was watch the Mountaineers get manhandled by Oklahoma.

Our weekend is still one more day, so we'll make the most of it with our grocery shopping and finishing up the rest of the laundry for the week. The Steelers played on Thursday night, so it might be a good day to just take it easy once again and try to get Michelle feeling better.

We were talking yesterday afternoon that since we missed the Springs Festival of maybe heading to Amish Country in Ohio in the next month or so for the day. Our eventful Summer is over with now we need to start planning for weekends like these and this seems like a pretty good way to start...lol

Have yourselves a great day.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit yet once again in a quiet household, I'm the first one to awaken from our losing battle with that dreaded Sandman last night and I'm up collecting my thoughts for the day.

Originally we planned on going to the Springs Festival today, but Hurricane Joaquin has caused for that area to be very wet and cold, so we will not be going this year. I checked their weather and it is 100% chance of rain today. It's raining now and the rain doesn't appear to want to let up until sometime tomorrow. We love this festival, but common sense tells us to stay home today.

I'm starting to feel a little bit better finally, Thursday Night was a rough one for me, but I think I'm starting to feel much better. Michelle is still at the initial stages of it with a sore throat, but I ate ice cream last night which is the magical elixir for sore throats. Now if you ever have a sore throat, you can say that you read that on the internet and eat ice cream guilt free....lol

The Mountaineers travel to Norman Oklahoma today to take on the Oklahoma Sooners. Kickoff will actually be at 12:00 noon EST, so today will  not be a total bust, there is always football.

Have yourselves a great day and Let's Go Mountaineers.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes it is once again that time of the week that we all look foreword to, when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend, and a Big Ole Hairy Friday!

Well if you are looking for a little High School  Football action, you might have to hit the road this week. Morgantown High trying to recover from their first loss of the season last week will be on the road at Musselman and University High will try once again to get their first win of the season as they make that long trip to Greenbrier East. Clay Battelle is off this weekend.

In College action the Mountaineers travel to Norman Oklahoma tomorrow to take on the Oklahoma Sooners in what should be our first real test of the season. It'll be the #23 Mountaineers vs the #15  Sooners, hopefully we bring our A game because we will definitely need it to pull the upset.

Michelle and I have been talking about going to the Springs Festival tomorrow, only problem is it is calling for rain, plus I have been under the weather all week and now she is starting to catch it. It might just be a better idea to stay in a warm home and relax to tell you the truth. We'll re-assess what we are going to do probably later this evening. I don't want to make a flu any worse.

Have yourselves a great day.

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out and look through a number of my pictures, some 30,000+ of them that I have either taken with a Camera, iPhone, Scanned or just simply stolen off of the internet. Little lost moments in time I like to post up and briefly relive right here for everyone. Sometimes this is a pretty easy task and sometimes it can be a little bit tedious, but it is always a whole lot of fun.

This weeks picture is an oldie but a goody, this is my Sixth Grade School Picture from Flatts-Chestnut Ridge School from the year 1976. You can tell that this was our nations Bi-Centennial year being that they had the Liberty Bell as a prop for the pictures and a 17769 Flag in the Background.

Two things that everyone should take note of. One that I am wearing a Mean Joe Greene Sweatshirt as this was even before the time of his infamous Coke Commercial, yes I was a true Steelers fan back in the day, of course by the time this picture was actually taken we only had one Super Bowl win and were getting ready to win our second one.

The other thing everyone should notice was that I was not hair impaired during these days. I actually had had, a full head of hair and one could say that I was even considered a Hippy. LOL

Have yourselves a great day
