Tuesday's Tidbits

* Monday is now complete, can't think of any better reason to do a tidbits.

* It has been 20,764 days since I first entered this world as we know it. Each and every one has presented it's own unique challenge.

* It has been 5,980 days since I graduated from WVU with a Degree in Geography. I also have two minors, one in Communications and one in History.

* 4,581 days ago Michelle and I had our first date together, seems like just yesterday.

* 3,805 days ago I proposed to Michelle, 4:00 in the morning in the back yard. Best decision I have ever made.

* It was 3,342 days ago in front of our closest friends and family, Michelle and I tied and we partied down.

* I have now lived 968 days longer than my Dad did and I'm still going strong. Coming on 1,000 days in the near future.

* I have 4,123 days to go until I retire, give or take a few hundred days here or there.

* The next Backyard Brawl where we beat Pitt's ass in Football is only 702 days away.

* There are 311 days until Michelle and I head to Pittsburgh to see Reba in concert. It was postponed this March to July and now they are pushing the tour until next year. It'll be mine and Michelle's 10th wedding anniversary.

* There are 311 more days to go until Michelle and I celebrate our Tenth  Wedding Anniversary together. =)

* There are only 172 days until the start Spring 2021!!!!! Kiwi will appreciate it as the weather is starting to cool down.

* 126 more days until Phil steps to center stage again for Groundhogs Day. He's been getting fat all summer from Michelle putting corn on the bench all summer, now he is making himself a little more scarce.

* 93 more days to go until my Goodbye 2020 Blog is posted, this should be an interesting one.

* There are 87 more shopping days left until Christmas 2020.

* My next Anniversary of my 21st Birthday will be in 63 more days.

* I have written 6,167 blogs in the now 16+ years since I started blogging.

* No drone flights this weekend, but that has pretty much been my recurring theme this year with that. I have yet to fly this year.

* The girls are a little over a week away from their extended girls trip weekend to Canaan. They have a really nice place that they will be staying at.

* For the girls and their extended weekend, George's Journal Officially challenges the group to form a Facebook Album and post a minimum of 100 pictures from their weekend. Pay attention Brittany, you are my champion to this challenge.

* The first of three Presidential Debates will be this evening at 9:00. My mind is already made up as to how I am voting, I'll tune in for entertainment.

* George's Journal Officially endorses Joe Biden (Bye Don) for the 46th President of the United States.

* Corona Virus, you can still track it but it's losing it's steam a little.

* We're now Green for COVID for Monongalia County, track the state stats HERE. That means High School Football this weekend.

* I'm STILL converting some old VHS tapes to Digital Format for Trish. I really need to get back on this as I am such a procrastinator.

* Hi ho hi ho.

Just Another Manic Monday

This is not going to be your typical Monday, especially in Monongalia County. The weekend is over with and we are about to start another week, but this one is different than we have seen in the past.

Today in Monongalia County there is going to be chaos, fear, excitement and a whole slew of emotions that have not been felt in some time. West Virginia University will for the first time since March resume in person classes. Students will actually be in the classrooms as opposed to virtual learning. Due to COVID, WVU has not been in the classrooms since before Spring Break.

To add to the chaos, Monongalia County Schools are now green according to the School alert system that was put out Saturday. The one Saturday reflects how county school systems will approach the coming week and we are now Green. That means kids will be back in classrooms and athletics have the go ahead to continue.

I did speak with my niece Amy who works in the school system, she said they are going to restart on Thursday with half the kids and then on Friday with the other half of the kids. Kind of using a staggered approach to returning them to the classroom.

Michelle will resume her Physical Therapy this week after being on the road last week. She is making strides in leaps and bounds and is recovering nicely. She is a trooper and hates not having full use us her wrist and is working her butt off to get it back to normal.

Have yourselves a great day and be careful when traveling around town, traffic is probably going to increase exponentially today with everything that is going on.

Sunday Morning Ranblings

Here I sit yet once again on a quiet Sunday Morning, I'm up collecting my thoughts for the day with something playing in the background for noise. Peanut is up and running around somewhere but is not with me at my desk.

Michelle's phone kind of crapped out on her yesterday, she had an iPhone 7+ and it just wouldn't charge very quickly or even hold a charge. So the time had finally come to get her a new phone. We went to the AT&T store last night to see about an upgrade, and I got very upset with the salesman trying to upsale me. He tried twice and I just more and more mad so I just simply bought the phone outright rather than them trying to bundle a bunch of crap that I don't need. She ended up picking a purple iPhone 11. I did the math between what he was trying to sell me and the price of the phone and what he was trying to sell me would have literally tripled the price of the phone.

I did watch the Mountaineers yesterday and I just have to say, I was very unimpressed. Poor coaching was the reason we lost this game, the team was undisciplined, unprepared, and really did not seem inspired or appear to have any offensive objective. This is not a very well coached program and it has really showed.

Today's agenda includes grocery shopping, chores around the house, paying a few bills and probably watching the Steelers play the Texans at 1:00.

Have yourself a great day.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit yet once again in a  quiet household, I think I hear my co-author running around somewhere getting into things, and I'm sitting here streaming one of the Men in Black Movies and collecting my thoughts for the day.

The Mountaineers are on the road today at Stillwater Oklahoma to take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys, a team that we have had trouble beating the past five seasons and we are an 8 1/2 point underdog today. I watched their game last week and they didn't look too good, but you know Coach Gundy and his famous Mullet are going to have them ready today.

We got a number of chores done yesterday so my schedule is open so I can watch the game. I needed to cut grass and Michelle wanted to take a lap or two on the riding mower, it would be the first since she fractured her wrist. So I did the first couple of laps in the front yard to get into the bushes and the difficult areas of the outline and turned it over for her to try. Try, that's a comical word as she just wanted to try to do a couple of laps to see how her wrist felt. Try turned into couldn't get her off the thing and she did most of the entire yard. I grabbed the push mower to do a few hilly places, but she was in seventh heaven as she was riding around.

How many of you prefer the old Facebook? The just reformatted everything a few weeks ago and I didn't care for the new format. Well if you are using Windows and a Google Chrome Browser and like the older version you are in luck, the Chrome Store has an extension called Old Layout for Facebook I'm loving it.

Have yourselves a great day, I'm going to watch some college football, the Mountaineers are on at 3:30.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes it is once again that time of the week that we all look foreword to, when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

Looking for a little High School Football? So is everyone else, we are still Orange in our school map meaning that the teams can start to practice again, but there are no games permitted. We are once again above the threshold, but next weeks games depends upon Saturday's results. I know WVU is planning on having a big protest later this afternoon from the Mountainlaire to President Gee's house, but their list of demands is a little ridiculous and IMHO things are about to get much worse in the short term.

Less than two weeks away now and Michelle, Kim, Terri, Val, Amy, Brittany and Erica are going away for a girls trip around Canaan. It looks like a real nice cabin that they got and it does have a hot tub, no boys allowed though so I'll stay here and once again take care of my 4 legged friends. I think Amy is making T-shirts for the event with everyone having a customized one. Hopefully they get some pictures (hint hint)

No Hayley again today, we have hot sausage ready to go when they stop as per their request, but that will not be this weekend as they have things they are doing up there. So I guess I'll just cut grass this afternoon.

Have yourselves a great day.

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out, time to look at some of the 30,000+ images that I have either captured with a Camera, Scanned or just simply stolen off the internet. Little lost moments in time that I post up and relive tight here for everyone while I try to recall the moments around that image. Sometimes it's pretty easy to find that image and sometimes it's a challenge, although one thing it always is is a whole lot of fun for me.

This weeks pic is from Thanksgiving last year. Hayley, Tyler and the adorable Luke came down to the Firehall to visit for Thanksgiving. It's rare that everyone is together, so I took this opportunity to grab this pic of a couple of very special ladies and a couple very special young men that have changed Hayley's life.

Not sure what the plans are going to be this year with COVID 19, plus Jim and Chris purchased an old church to run their store out of and they are going to have kitchen facilities. We'll have to wait and see how that all plays out this year.

Have a great day.

Happy Birthday Kaiden Dalton

I would like to take this opportunity to wish my Great-Nephew Kaiden Dalton a very Happy Birthday today. He is a growing boy and is definitely starting to catch up to me in age, give it another 9 more years and he'll tie me in age at 21.

Kaiden is a very good and well behaved young man and it is actually an honor to be around him. Not sure what Amy and Ralph have planned for this young man to celebrate his birthday, but we all know it will be special.

He's been busy this summer helping his Dad build their home, which they have done a remarkable job with so far.

Not sure what Kaiden is up to today, other than working towards his Doctorate in Theoretical Physics or something like that (yeah I know it's early), but if you happen to see Kaiden today, make sure you wish him the Happiest of Birthdays.

Happy Birthday Kaiden.

Monday

All good things must come to an end and that does include those fun filled things we refer to as the weekends, now it is time to take those collective noses and stick them back onto the grindstone for another fun filled week of doing what it is we all do for a living.

Not only is the weekend over today, but today is the last official day of Summer. Tomorrow begins the September Equinox or Fall as we all have come to know it. So enjoy your last day of summer today, for tomorrow the pumpkin spice and the smell of fall. Leaves will start to change color and it will be the most beautiful time of the year here in Appalachia, some people love this time of the year, I'm on the other end of the spectrum and like the Springtime.

Looking at the week ahead, Michelle will be traveling for work for a few days this week. She'll be staying in Charleston and will be leaving tomorrow morning and will return on Thursday.

I'll miss her but Sophie, Peanut and the full of personality Kiwi will all keep me company in her absence. We might even have an outside day or two as Dad tries to mow the grass once more this summer. Time is getting short for grass mowing and I know Michelle want's to ride around on the mower, we were going to do it yesterday but it was a little cold and she is still recovering.

Enjoy your day and your last day of Summer.

Sunday Morning Ranblings

Here I sit in a quiet and a little chili household, I think I checked the temperature and it is 39° outside, I'm here collecting my thoughts for the day and watching who knows what on the boob tube.

The good news for the day is simply this, I am not waiting on a ship trying to get off so I can start the long drive back to Morgantown, because this is the day our cruise would have returned to Baltimore. So we don't have to worry about debarking.

Plans for the day, grocery shopping and our weekly chores are once again on our agenda. It's week 2 of the NFL and the Pittsburgh Steelers are playing this afternoon at 1:00 against the Denver Bronco's. This will be the first home game and the first Sunday afternoon game for the Steelers this season after Monday Nights win in New York.

Looking at the week ahead, Michelle will be working in Charleston Tuesday-Thursday this week which means your truly will be home flying solo and holding the fort down. Has to do with the new software that they have purchased and are starting to implement company wide. Their CPA is on staff and in Charleston and has also been training on the with the same software with Michelle. I can't remember if Michelle told me that they are going to be going through training together or starting to set up the companies (yes they are multiple companies Xtreme Labor, XLS Pro and I think Michelle talked about another one they are going to kick off) in the software.

Have yourselves a great day today, stay warm, enjoy some Football and go Steelers.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit yet once again on a quiet Saturday Morning, once again there is no co-author anywhere to be found and I'm out here collecting my thoughts for the day.

Hayley and Tyler never made it over last night for dinner so those plans were kind of scrapped, so we'll try it again next weekend. We stuck the Hot Sausage in the Freezer to keep it fresh for next week.

Today Michelle will be going to Coopers Rock for Dusty's wedding, I'm going to play the part of couch potato and since it is a fall Saturday, and possibly watch the TV and try to find a college football game on. WVU is off this week, but our next week opponent plays today at noon so that it is always a possibility. Marshall plays Appalachia State later this afternoon so that may also be a possibility to garner my viewing eyes.

The weather has cooled down a bit, I actually left Kiwi inside all day and he's not happy with me. He enjoys it when I take his cage outside and he gets to sing with his other aviary brethren, but yesterday it was the electronic ones that he got to sing with. Peanut even spent the day inside. These are the waning days of Summer, Fall officially starts on Tuesday.

Have yourselves a great day.

Big OIe Hairy Friday

Yes it is once again that time of the week that we all look foreword to, when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

There is no High School Football this evening in Monongalia County, but that doesn't mean no one is playing. Keep up with all of the states actions and everything else that is going on as we take another weekend off.

There may be football next weekend, they seemed to have manipulated the methodology for Monongalia County to get us a more desired response, of course that is not science, it is propaganda. Why even have science and testing, if you're not going to report facts and instead report what you want to report. I have lost a lot of faith in some leaders that I had a lot of respect for, but that's just my opinion. This thing is now going to blow up In My Humble Opinion.

Hayley, Bethanie and then Tyler are all coming over for another craft day today, I took a trip to Harry's yesterday and got some good hot sausage and we are going to make  Spicy Sausage Rigatoni that everyone absolutely loves.

No big plans for the weekend for me, I know there is a wedding Michelle is going to go to tomorrow up at Cooper Rock. Another one of Hayley's Friends, Dusty, is getting married tomorrow. I asked Michelle if I had to get dressed up and she told me I didn't have to go. I'll see if I can find a football game on.

Have yourselves a great day and the start of a hopefully great weekend.

Stay safe.

Happy Birthday Calvin McClain

I would like to take this opportunity to wish my Nephew Calvin a very Happy Birthday today. Don't ask me how old he is all I know is that all of my Nephews and Nieces have passed me up in age and I'm still only 21 (he's 22)

Calvin is someone Michelle and I have watched grow up and mature more than any other family member since we have been together. He has matured into a fine young man and now has a beautiful wife to share his life with.

I'm not sure what Jeanetta or even my sister Pam have planned for him today, but I will say it'll be memorable no matter what it may be.

It has been a real honor watching this young man grown up into the man that he is today.

If you happen to see Calvin today, make sure that you wish him a very Happy Birthday today.

Happy Birthday Calvin.

Had all went as planned, and it was already paid for, this would have been my view today. We would be on our cruise and today we would get gathering our priority tendering stickers and we would have been some of the first ones to hit the beach at my favorite place I have ever been to. Half Moon Cay.

It's amazing how crystal clear, calm and just beautiful the ocean is here. I can't explain it and pictures just do not do it any justice. Today would have been our six trip here, so we are quite familiar with the island, but 2020 has just thrown everyone one heck of a curveball.

Have a great day, this is where I would love to be today.

Monday

All good things must come to an end, and that does include the first football weekend of the year. Now it is time to once again get back to doing what it is that we do for a living.

Michelle is still working at home due to her office still being renovated. Our living room has taken over as her office, as they are still working on the the Goff Building and getting everything ready.

Kids in Monongalia County will once again be doing remote learning this week, with our COVID-19 numbers still very much in the Red on Saturday, that means this week will once again be remote learning. Personally I think they should just declare the first 9 weeks remote and quit having parents have to worry from week to week. I have a feeling it could extend even longer than that, but small steps would be of assistance.

Michelle is starting her second week of Physical Therapy after breaking her wrist last month. It's a slow recovery process but she is a trooper and on her way back. She is now sleeping without the protective brace she has worn every night since breaking it. They told her it may be this spring before her wrist gets completely back to normal, but she's working on it. She is an amazing woman to say the least.

Have a great day, it's Monday continue your path to world domination.

Sunday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit in a quiet household, if all went as planned this year I would be getting on a big ship and getting ready to sail to the Caribbean later this afternoon, but all did not go as planned this year in the monkey wrench that has been 2020 so far.

The good news is WVU opened the 2020 season yesterday with a pretty encouraging 56-10 win against Eastern Kentucky yesterday afternoon. There were elements last season that had me worried, they really seem to have them ironed out and the team looks pretty decent. It's early, it was a tune up game, but I'm a little more optimistic than I was at the end of last season to say the least.

Today the NFL resumes, but do my Pittsburgh Steelers play today? No, they play Monday Night rather than this afternoon. The good news is that we did in fact have football this weekend, so we are starting to make progress with COVID-19, let's just see how long it lasts.

Shopping and normal weekly chores for Michelle and I today, nothing big or special. She did go visit her sister yesterday as I watched the game. She said they took a trip to Wave Tech, then went out to lunch and then they visited the old church they bought to convert into a store.

Have yourselves a great day.

It's Gameday

With all of the COVID-19 stuff going on over the past six months, we have seen a lot of cancellations. Basketball season was stopped last year and no NCAA Tournament. Baseball was halted as well as all professional sports.

Well the one sport that affects Morgantown the most is College Football. Some P-5 Conferences have postponed the fall season and will start after the first of the year, but WVU and the Big XII have decided to try to play despite our first two opponents not playing. Florida State and the ACC are playing an Conference only schedule and Maryland and the Big Ten are not playing this fall, opting to try to start the season in January.

Today is a different type of game day in Morgantown, there are no people walking around with their infamous "I Need Tickets" signs. There are no tailgaters lining up to get their spot in the blue lot and there will not be any tailgating anywhere on University property. There will not even be any fans in the stands other than the parents of players and spouses of the coaching staff. No band and I don't think there will be any cheerleaders on the field. It's going to be strange and eerie or should I say EERy.

There will be football played today, as Neal Brown leads the Mountaineers onto the field to take on Eastern Kentucky. The game is at noon and can be seen on Fox Sports 1 on your TV.

Sports have finally returned to Morgantown and Monongalia County. I plan on watching and observing if we have made any improvement since last season. There were a lot of concerns I had last year, let's see if Coach Brown and his staff have solved these issues.

Have a Great Day and Let's Go Mountaineers.

Today marks the 19th year since the terrorists attacks on our Country. World Trade Center and the Pentagon were all hit with commercial airlines in a suicide mission of a terrorist cell.

More importantly, if this blog was a person, it would now officially be old enough to get it's learners permit to learn to drive. Yes my blog officially turns 16 years old today. 16 years to make 6,147 posts discussing my life or things around it. It's a 16 year open book of my life and the events that have been happening within it and everything is time stamped. I wish I had a Dollar for every word that I have written in this blog, I don't know the exact number, but I would imagine I would be a multi-millionaire.

No High School football tonight involving any of the Monongalia County teams due to the Corona Virus, and it doesn't look like there will be next week either as it is based on the numbers from tomorrow and we are significantly over the threshold for the top tier by about 50%. We would need to cut down our cases by 1/3 by tomorrow for that to happen and that would mean we would need negative number of cases today and tomorrow. That's just not happening.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, WVU plays tomorrow so this could be interesting.

This weeks pic is one of the family members who is buried on the back yard in the woods. Sadie was my old walking buddy and one that gave us very little trouble, she was a good dog. I used to go walk on the trails with her and she would get excited as I grabbed the leash because she knew what that meant.

Sadie got old and we had to put her down a few years ago in a humane effort. She could barely walk anymore, couldn't see and couldn't hear, she was constantly in pain and it was just time.

This picture however was one that was taken the first year we had moved in together, she had her pillow, her water bowl and her food was between the two. Sadie was a good dog.

Have yourselves a great day today.

Happy Labor Day

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the working people around the world a very Happy Labor Day. Normally this is just the extended weekend before Michelle and I used to go on Vacation, but no cruise this year as it was cancelled a couple of months ago and we've pout the money towards Hayley's wedding.

We smoked once again yesterday, so that means it's going to be a pretty simple Hamburgers and Hot Dogs on the grill kind of day. Hayley and Tyler will once again be stopping over for dinner, Michelle is going to go with her and Alice to look at a location for the Bridal Shower. They are going to check out some place in Westover and see if it is available.

Kiwi and I will hold down the back yard from any invasions, he's becoming a pretty good watch bird with a huge personality. He and I have had some pretty deep conversations this summer, I'm just thankful I can keep up with him...lol

I hope everyone has a great Labor Day, school is scheduled to start tomorrow in Monongalia County but everything has been pushed to an online learning and a week by week basis which is really messing some parents up, but that's tomorrow, have a great and memorable day today.

Sunday

Here I sit yet once again, in the early AM co-authorless and having to come up with content for this brilliant blog on my own. Got Spiderman playing in the background and I'm still waking up.

Michelle and I are going to fire up the smoker once again today, but we're just going to do some chicken for us for dinner. I don't think we're going to smoke a whole chicken, I think we're just going to buy some chicken pieces parts and toss them in for a few hours.

Other than that it's going to be our Sunday shopping and chores that we do every week. Sunday's, especially Sunday Mornings have been a routine for us for a number of years. We are still going through the motions as if life were normal, even though life really isn't normal for anyone right now.

Yesterday was pretty relaxing for us, I watched the Marshall game on TV but that was an absolute blowout. The Eastern Kentucky team didn't even seem like they wanted to be there. We play them this Saturday. Other than that it was a pretty uneventful day, Kiwi did have a great day outside.

Have a great day.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit yet once again in a quiet household, Peanut is off slumbering somewhere and I'm waking up and trying to collect my thoughts on the day. I'm still waking up and trying to get my bearings straight. I kind of slept n a little this morning, so the blog is a little later.

We officially did it yesterday, Monongalia County is officially in the Red for COVID-19 yesterday, that caused the cancellation of in school classes for kids this upcoming week and moved everything to an online curriculum for the following week. Teachers and staff will still have to report, but Tuesday was when students were supposed to report and they will not be physically at the schools.

High School Athletics involving any Monongalia County teams were cancelled yesterday as well.  University High was scheduled to travel to Parkersburg and that was cancelled and Morgantown High was scheduled to host Bridgeport and that was cancelled. Clay Battelle was scheduled to go somewhere into Ohio, I don't even see where that game took place.

The good news is that there will be college football today on Television, WVU is not playing and I'm not sure how or if this affects then next Saturday, but there is going to be football on TV today for you football enthusiasts. Marshall is scheduled to host Eastern Kentucky today at 1:00.

I'm going to try to enjoy some football today, I hope everyone has a great day.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes it is once again that time of the week that we all look foreword to, when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday and the start of a Holiday Weekend for most.

It is Labor Day Weekend and the unofficial end of Summer, although it will be around a few more weeks officially. College Football or what remains of it will be starting this weekend, although WVU doesn't play until next weekend. There is supposed to be High School Football this weekend, but with COVID and Monongalia County is probably going to be in the Red, so something tells me none of the teams will be playing this evening. We'll have to wait and see however.

Hayley, Tyler and Bethany are coming over this afternoon. They want me to take a few shots of Helena in the back yard with my Camera and I'll oblige. Michelle and I planned on smoking this weekend, but it turns out we will be smoking today as we have some pork ribs ready to go.

I hope everyone has a safe and fantastic day and a better weekend.

This weeks pic goes back all the way to the year 1993, or about six years before my Dad passed away. This picture was taken in Florida at the Beach when he and Jean went down for a couple of weeks to pay a visit to some of Jean's family members that lived in Naples Florida. It's hard to believe all of his children I think are now older than he was when he had this picture taken (I think he would have been 48).

I'll leave you with a little memory of the namesake George Hall from that trip.

Have a great day.

Wednesday

Two days down, two more ahead of you, now all you have do do is get up and over this noon time hump and it will be all downhill as you work towards a three day weekend.

Well I am back from traveling a couple of days, I stayed in Buchanon Monday night since it was in between two segments that I was working, nice little town but I don't think I have been there since our first football game our Senior year when we went down and walloped the Buck Ups.

I've been gone for two days, now it is Michelle's turn to be gone for a day. She's out the door this morning and heading to Canonsburg for the day leaving me to Bird and Cat sit all of the in house animals. They are all meeting up there for the day and I'll be here telling jokes to Kiwi and having a good old time.

I do have to say Kiwi got excited as I pulled the car around back yesterday afternoon as she had not seen me since Monday Morning.

Have yourselves a wonderful day.
