Last Regular Blog Post of 2011

Today is my 404th BLOG post of the year, and will be my last regular BLOG post of the 2011 calendar year. I will still follow this one up with the still to come and my traditional Goodbye 2011, which traditionally has been my most favorite BLOG of the year to write. It allows me the time to sit back and really reflect on my year as we get ready to enter into 2012.

Michelle has a Dr's appointment yesterday for her foot that she broke last August, they have put her into a regular cast (A Pink one) and she will now be walking around on crutches for the next month. She is going to be semi incapacitated until after Ground Hogs Day.

Terri called me last night and said Mom was having some complications, but called back later to say that everything is fine and they are just kept her last night for observation purposes.

Well 2011 was a a very memorable year for me, so this may have been one of my funnest year end blogs to ever write just because of a few special events that took place in my life.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes it is once again that time of the week that we all look foreword to, when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday and a New Years Day three day weekend.

Yes, three days of holiday fun with a New Years Celebration tomorrow night. I'm planning on staying home to avoid all of the drunks that will be out and about the town, I think I was sleeping last year as the ball was dropping.

I need to finish up my end of the year Blog that I have started writing this week, one that basically recaps the year in review by according to the things that happened in my BLOG. It's been a special year, so be sure to stop by and read the final 2011 BLOG sometime tomorrow.

Short day at work for me, plus I have to go to the Doctors with Michelle this afternoon, so let's get this party started.

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to look back through my thousands of pictures that I have taken through the years and just select one special one to post and tell a story about. This weeks is one that is special to me.

The time was a couple of months after Michelle and I had started dating. We grabbed the GPS and headed East to seek a few geocaches. Hayley and her boyfriend at the time (my favorite one so far) Wyatt rode along with us as we headed to Deep Creek Lake.

This picture was taken at the Lake and is one that I have always liked. It wasn't our first picture together, but is one of my favorites as I thought we took a great picture together that day.

Nearly four years later we are still going strong.

Hump Day...Woo Hoo

That was quick, one day off one day in and we are already at hump day!!!!! I do have to say, I'm not the only one at work, but there are very few there. I have plenty of time to take off if I chose to, but Michelle's working so I'm going in. No sense in sitting at home when it's cold rainy and snowy.

They are redoing the gym where I work, and it is right beside my office in the same building, so we get the smell of glue radiating throughout the building. Makes you a little happier or should I say mellow while you are working...LOL

Tuesday's Tidbits

* Well Monday is now behind us, even though both Michelle and I were off with an extended three day weekend, still can't think of a better reason than that to do a tidbits.

* It's been 1,383 days since mine and Michelle's first date going on four years ago.

* It's been 606 days since our engagement.

* And this is our 143rd day of marriage. That's a special number one letter word, four letter word, three letter word. I Love You. =)

* You have 364 more shopping days left until Christmas 2012, provided the Myans were wrong (they were) and the world doesn't end on December 21, 2012. For those conspiracy theorists who believe this, I have Ocean Front property in Nebraska I'll sell you pretty cheap, I'll even throw in the Country of Chile in the deal.

* We took our day off yesterday and saw an awesome movie. We went and saw the movie We Bought a Zoo. It's a great movie, probably one of the best that I have seen in the theaters in a number of years.

* A note for all, the Dartmoor Zoo that the above movie is about, is real. I picked up on a couple strange things during the movie, then found out at the end that it is a true story.

* I hope everyone had a great Christmas, and can ring in a safe and Happy New Year.

Post Christmas

We survived yet another Christmas, the number of shopping days until Christmas has been reset and starting to count down to another year.

Yesterday we went to Michelle's sisters house, and saw that they received one of the best Christmas Gifts ever from their kids. They are looking at their 25th wedding anniversary this upcoming year so the kids got together and did something very special for them.

They presented it to them in a 23 minute long DVD showing numerous pictures of their children and grandchildren through the years. Then the DVD got a little confusing to them. Images of a girl in a Hula Skirt and pictures downloaded off the internet from Hawaii.

The gift from their kids, they are sending them to Hawaii this spring for a week. Jon cashed in all his air miles and Marriot points and managed to get them a trip to Hawaii and a nice luxury hotel for a week. Needless to say, they were very surprised.

Have a great day, both Michelle and I are off today.

Merry Christmas

It's Christmas morning, I'm the the first and only one up so far. I've got some Hot Sausage that we had set aside for my traditional Christmas morning breakfast, a tradition we started as kids and have maintained over the last 35-40 years. It was one thing we always remember my father making on Christmas eve, and he made enough that we always ate that for breakfast the next morning as leftovers.

Had a great time at Terri's last night. There was plenty of food and great times with my family. I installed NORAD's Santa Tracker on my phone and the kids were asking me every three minutes where Santa was at. It was one of those unplanned special memories that you'll never forget.

We have to open gifts here this morning and then we'll be off to Michelle's Sister's house for Christmas dinner with that side of the family. We have a red velvet cheesecake that we will be taking with us today. My Boss bought me one for my birthday and everyone seemed to love it, so we got one from the Cheesecake factory to take with us today.

Merry Christmas to All!!!!!!!!!

It's Christmas Eve

The one day of winter that I actually do like, a time when families are together and worries are out the window for at least one day.

For my family, it's Christmas Eve when we all get together. Christmas Day has traditionally been for the individual units. Tonight at my sister Terri's are are going to once again attempt to assemble the whole clan and have a little Christmas cheer with the people who have meant the most to me in my life, my family.

I'm super excited.

For the kiddies, be sure to track Santa with Norad's Santa Tracker.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes it is once again that time of the week that we all look foreword to, when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

For Michelle and myself it is the start of a three day Holiday weekend with Monday being the Christmas Holiday for both of us.

Our agenda should be pretty busy tomorrow with our grocery shopping and having Christmas Eve at my sister Terri's house. After being as ill and bedridden as I was last year for both Christmas and Christmas Eve, I am really looking forward to this years Christmas eve. It's been a couple of years since I have been around my family on Christmas Eve.

Christmas Day will consist of us taking a trip to Michelle's sisters for their Christmas and their Christmas dinner.

It looks to be a great weekend.

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to sit back and take a little bit of time out and look through all my digital pictures that I have, find one and reflect a little bit upon that picture. Sometimes I rack my brain, sometimes it comes easy. This week, it came pretty easy.

With Christmas coming up I decided that would be a good theme to find this weeks pic and there it was.

My Father passed away in the summer of 1999. At his funeral we had a picture of him how many people would remember him. You see, my father lived to be a coal miner and we though that may be the best way top represent him. People loved the picture, especially his co-workers who attended. Many of which worked for him and he pretty much fed on a daily basis. I remember seeing him pick up 15 pizzas one day on his way to work, no joke.

Well my sister Terri has that picture, and in 2004 her an Nick opened up the Country Inn in Fairmont. As a family, we decided to have our Christmas party at the bar that year, with my father hanging in his place of honor.

We miss you Dad.

Hump Day

Monday, check. Tuesday, Check. It's up over this hump today and on the other side of Thursday I can see another weekend peeking through. This time it will be an extended Holiday weekend, so that makes it a little better.

Had a Doctor's appointment yesterday, everything went well however I am still waiting to see the results from my A1C. They are usually pretty quick about posting those results, not this time however.

Did speak with Terri briefly yesterday. She is still in a lot of pain, but wants to still do Christmas at her home this year. I told her we have another box of the sausage we had for the wedding that we are going to make for Christmas Eve. Did briefly speak with Nick too, just confirming that we would be there on Christmas Eve this year.

I have been working on removing some very vicious malware from Hayley's computer, I think I am just about to the point where it is clean and I should be able to return it to her. I have the malware cleaned up, I just wanted to clean it all up before something else rears its ugly head.

Tuesday's Tidbits

* Well Monday is once again in our rear view mirrors, that was the last working one of 2011 for me, so I can't for the life of me think of a better reason than that to do yet another tidbits.

* It's been 1,376 days since mine and Michelle's first date. How many people do you honestly know that are still keeping track of something like that?

* 599 Days ago we became engaged.

* 136 Days ago we were married.

* And now for the real important one, you only have five shopping days left until Christmas, it has slowly snuck up on us and we are almost there.

* We are two days away from the official start of winter and the end of fall, it will also be the shortest day of the year and the winter Solstice. We're at the far end of the turning point, days are about to start getting longer.

* I'm contemplating starting my year end BLOG soon. That will be my Goodbye 2011 BLOG where I go through my blog from the preceding twelve months and write one blog about what has happened.

* It was a slow day at work yesterday, we got back into town late Sunday evening and yesterday was "Go" from the time I woke up until the time I went to bed. It just seemed like a very long day, but it's now past us and we are moving towards an upcoming three day holiday weekend.

* I spoke with Mom and Amy yesterday, I was informed Terri is missing cervical disc C-4 and disc C-5 in her neck, and they are going to try to schedule an MRI for further observation in the near future. She has been hurting for a period of time and she finally made it to the Doctors. Surgery may be an option, but that is a preliminary assumption.

Monday

Well all good things must come to an end, no matter how much we want them to continue, and that includes fun filled weekends.

We had a great time yesterday visiting Michelle's family. Got a few pictures that I would say are keepable and got a chance to spend some quality time with some very nice people.

Now however, it's back to the grindstone. This will be the last Monday that I will be working for a few weeks, next Monday is when we celebrate the Federal Christmas Holiday and the following Monday is when we will Celebrate the Federal Holiday for New Years. So, this will be my last full week of work until the second week in 2012.

Off to East Liverpool

It's that time of the year again, the time when we head north to East Liverpool, Ohio and Calcutta, Ohio to spend Christmas with first Michelle's Materrnal Grandmother (Gigi as we call her) and then we will venture over to Michelle's Dad's place to visit him before we head back here later this evening.

It'll be the first time that I have been up that way in a while, however Michelle has been home a couple of times for other reasons. It's always nice to get out of town for a while, take the camera and get a few pictures. You never know, one of them may just end up in a Thursday Blog some time soon...LOL

Should be a good day, the kids will somehow manage to make it to the Hot Dog Shoppe, a place they all seem to love. It;s like a local place that the entire community goes to and is unique to them. Sort of like a Cappalentti's that used to be in Morgantown or a Yann's in Fairmont. They make manage to make it there every time they are up that way.

Should be a good one.

Busy Saturday

It's going to be a busy day today, we'll be cramming all of our weekend chores into one day so we can travel to Ohio tomorrow. We'll do all of our weekly grocery shopping and try to finish up any Christmas shopping that remains to be done.

Last night we had my company Christmas party at Oliverios. That went pretty well and was an entertaining evening. In years past I didn't know everyone there, even though we have a small company when people bring their spouses and children into the equation it gets hard to initially keep track of everyone, but this year my third with Sextant, it was pretty easy to keep track of everyone.

Michele got some more of the Hot Sausage we had at the wedding for next weekend. Christmas Eve at my sister Terri's this year, I'm looking forward to it.

Have a great day.

Well no Football for me once again this weekend as the Pittsburgh Steelers don't play until Monday night and the Mountaineers are in a down period before the Orange Bowl.

Fret not though, we will be busy. This evening is my companies Christmas Party which is always nice. This will be my third year and all three years we have had our party at Oliverios Restaurant in the Wharf District. Dale usually treats us to a feast and I'm sure this year will be the same, I'm waiting for the Calamari, it's really good and something I look forward to every year.

Sunday we will be traveling to east Liverpool Ohio for Michelle's family Christmas at her grandmother's. It's an all day event with us leaving early in the morning and usually getting back later in the evening. We will be visiting with both sides of Michelle's family this weekend.

Let's get this party started, hi ho hi ho

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out to look through all my pictures and select just one to tell a little story about, sometimes it's easy and the story tells itself and sometimes you just need to pick one. This week, I just picked one.

This was taken at my nephew Moke's birthday party a little over seven years ago. My brother in law George was just starting the addition on his house and my sister Pam actually had a pet goat. I saw the goat walking around to the front of the house and snapped this picture.

Nothing exciting, just a goat...LOL

Hump Day

That's two days down, over this hump and it's all downhill after that!!!!!!!

I swear there are times when my days just seem to run together. My days are long and repetitive and sometimes just seems to run together. Maybe it's just the time of the year, when days are short and cold and there really is no daylight and you don't really get out much in this weather. Maybe that has something to do with the reason why I love spring and summer so much and really don't like winter, being cold, short days or snow. The one good thing about this time of year thought is snacking on Michelle's Christmas Cookies while I am writing this. Butterscotch....yummm

Hats off to my niece Val, she is quitting smoking and is going through the first part of breaking the routine and habit that is formed when you are a smoker. I'm very proud of her, I know she can do it.

Monday

All good things must come to an end, and that includes the weekend. This past weekend was very productive, Christmas Shopping and making the seasons cookies.

Now it is time to stick our noses back on the grindstone and get back to work for yet another week. Too bad we couldn't just bypass Monday's and go straight to Friday...LOL

I have to say that we are more prepared for Christmas than we were before the weekend started, but we are not 100% ready for it as of yet. Still have a little bit of shopping to do and a couple Christmas Parties this coming week. Hence another reason I want to get this week over, my company Christmas party is Friday evening.

Cookie Day

Well we got a good start on our Christmas shopping yesterday, unfortunately we did not complete it and still have a bit of it to do. We did find some really nice deals at Tanger and later on the way home had a late lunch at Red Robin.

Today I'm going to do a little Grocery/Christmas shopping this morning and hopefully this afternoon, Michelle's health is the variable in this, we are going to start baking our Christmas Cookies for 2011. There are no distractions for today like a football game, so I'll do my best to assist and see if we can get a few cookies made today.

As cold as it is right now 19°F outside, making warm cookies may be the best activity for today.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit in the early AM in a very quiet house, it's only me rattling around and the television playing in the background. Chad is back from Cleveland, the contract he was working on is now basically complete, meaning he'll be home now. They may have to go back to the contract when an issue gets resolved, but for now this job is completed.

Today will be a Tanger Outlet Christmas shopping kind of day. We'll be heading up north in a little while, once everyone else gets up and when Tanger actually opens and doing our Christmas Shopping. Hopefully the weather holds up, Michelle has been fighting being under the weather.

We tried a new Morgantown Restaurant yesterday, actually I had been there once this week for lunch, but this was the first Time Michelle had been there. Tazikis in the Suncrest Towne Plaza just opened up, I give it a two thumbs up. It was very good, Michelle liked it and actually liked the lamb I had, I think we'll make a return trip there some time in the future.

Back to the couch, let's see if I can find something good on the boob tube.

AHHHHHH. No Football for me this weekend. The Steelers played and won 14-3 last night, West Virginia doesn't play until the Orange Bowl and High School is finished for the season. Maybe it is time that I start to transition myself into watching basketball, I guess it is basketball season here in Morgantown now, the boys did travel to K-State and beat Hugg's old team last night in double overtime 85-80.

Our agenda this weekend will consist of Christmas shopping and making our Christmas Cookies for the year. Next weekend is my company Christmas Party and we'll be traveling to East Liverpool Ohio for Michelle's family Christmas, so the rest of the vital things need to get done this weekend because the following weekend is Christmas.

I think we'll be heading to Tanger Outlets tomorrow to do our yearly Christmas shopping. I'm sure there will be another stop or two throughout the day, but that is one place we are planning on going.

Can't get this weekend started until I get today in, so hi ho hi ho

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out and look through all of my old pictures, find one and just tell a little story about it. Sometimes it is a pleasurable experience, and sometimes I am reminded of the things that I hate the most.

This week is one of those weeks that I am reminded why it is that I hate winter. This picture is from about six years ago when we got that big heavy snowfall in October, the one that downed all the powerlines around Mon County and I was without power for a few days as a result of this.

Yesterday's snow, reminded me just how much it is that I do not this seasons weather. Give me 80°, shorts and sandal type weather and I am happy, none of this sub 32° white crap that is trashing the ground.

Hump Day

It's Wednesday and we are getting closer to another weekend, it's just over this hump and on the other side of Thursday and you will see the dawn of another weekend.

As we are starting to get closer and closer to the shortest day of the year and starting to head into winter, it is really starting to show as it stays darker later in the morning and is dark earlier during the day. I'm just thankful the temperatures have been nice and we have not seen much of that white powdery stuff that I hate so much. Although this year we have a 4 wheel drive back on the road as our primary vehicle, so it shouldn't be that bad. I just hate being stranded and not being able to go where we want.

Tuesday's Tidbits

* Well that dreadful Monday is once again now in our rear view mirrors and we are staring straight down the barrel of a Tuesday. I can't think of a better reason than that to do a tidbits.

* It has been 1,362 days since Michelle and I went on our first date. We'll be looking at four years together this spring.

* It has been 585 days since Michelle's wait of 777 days (my lucky number) was over and I got down on one knee and proposed marriage to the love of my life.

* We have been married for 122 wonderful days. 122 days since we got together and dripped sand into a bottle as William Filcheck helped us exchange our vows and make it legal.

* In case you have not heard, the Mountaineer Football team has been offered the Orange Bowl that we will play January 4th, 2012 at 8:30 PM against Clemson.

* Yesterday was an unseasonably warm day, temperatures were actually in the 60's. I did get a little surprise at work as my boss had bought me a Red Velvet Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory to share with my employees and bring some home for Michelle and Hayley.

* Chad is in Cleveland, he was in for the weekend and may be returning back home soon ans the project is nearing completion.

* We did stop by this weekend and see my sister Terri. She has been in a great deal of pain the last week or so, they have ruled out anything cardiac related. We're hoping for a pinched nerve. She is a trooper and has been working despite the pain.

* I'm ready for a few Christmas movies.

* Hi ho hi ho

Back to Work

All good things must come to an end and that includes weekends. One that was very busy on our part and one that we got quite a bit accomplished over the course of. Now it's time to stick our noses back on the grindstone.

Next weekend appears to be very busy as well as we will be baking cookies and performing the majority of our Christmas shopping. The following weekend we will be traveling to Ohio for Michelle's family Christmas and the weekend after that is Christmas.

It's going to be a busy few weeks to say the least.

BCS

Well over the past few weeks everything has worked in the West Virginia University Football Team's favor as far as what has needed to happen. We have had three fourth quarter comebacks to win all three games, Cincinnati lost the one additional game we needed them to lose and Louisville has lost the one additional game that we needed them to lose to create a three way tie for the Big East Championship. The one scenario that we needed to happen, as the tie breaker resorts to the highest BCS Ranking to determine what school will be issued a BCS Bowl birth. Going into this weeks games we were ranked 22nd, Cincinnati was ranked 28th and Louisville was ranked 40th.

All we have to do is remain the highest BCS ranked Big East Team and tonight at 8:00 on the BCS show we will be announced as the Big East Champion representative to the BCS. This will mean any one of a number of scenarios. Most likely would be us going to the Orange Bowl to take on our former Quarterback Commitment in Tajh Boyd and Clemson or we will be heading to New Orleans to possibly play against Michigan. Boyd was one of Bill Stewart's first recruits who later changed his mind to and decided on Tennessee before finally making a commitment to Clemson.

Geno vs Tahj would be a heck of a game, ironic however is the fact that this years most likely Heisman Trophy winner and the first pick in the NFL Draft will be neither of these Quarterbacks, but a Quarterback whose father played here and is the current Athletic Director for WVU in Stanford's Oliver Luck.

Congrats to this years team, let's see how this turns out today.

Christmas Tree Done

Our 2011 version of the Hall Christmas tree is now up and running in our household. Michelle and I went to Southern States yesterday morning and picked out a tree, and unlike any previous versions was the very first tree that we actually came across. It was laying down in the way and when I stood it up, we realized it was the right height, the right kind and a nice shaped tree that was full of branches and no void areas in its makeup.

We picked this tree and brought it home. Trimmed it up, set it up in the stand and last night we put the lights and decorations on to give us our 2011 version of the tree.

We did find a couple little additions yesterday that we have added to the tree this year. One is a remote control that controls the tree turning on and off. No need to crawl in behind and turn any switches or plug anything in anymore, just use the remote. The second thing that we found was a little funnel that is about three foot long and can be hidden and camouflage'd to hide it's spout to make watering the tree a simple ans easy task.

It was a very productive day.

Christmas Tree Day

Michelle shampooed the living room carpet last night where the Christmas tree for 2011 will be placed this year. Later this morning, we will be heading over to Southern States to pick up our tree for this season.

Once again we are doing a live tree, this will be my third live tree in a row and I'm starting to get a little excited about it.

It's about ready to start looking like Christmas in this household.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes it is once again that time of the week that we all look foreword to, when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Black Friday.

Well this enters the time of the year that makes it hard to write my Friday BLOG. High School football is done for the local schools, with the State Championship games this weekend. West Virginia played last night in their final regular season game and that leaves only the Steelers who are playing a lot of Prime Time games that I usually don't stay awake for.

Now I have to find something else to talk about for the next six months or so or until the Summer outdoor movie season starts at BOPARC.

As most of you know, I write my weekday BLOGS the night before so as they post early in the morning and I can concentrate on getting ready for work and waking up so I can't comment on last night's WVU game because at the time I am writing this, it has to be played even though this is posting well after the game.

I would like to extend a heart felt thank you to all the birthday wishes I received yesterday, it was almost overwhelming responding to them all. I guess that mean's that I am lucky.

Happy Birthday Ed

I would like to take a moment to wish my wonderful husband a very Happy Birthday, now I will not say how old he is today, but this is the 27th anniversary of his 21st Birthday. I am so thankful to have this man in my life. If you happen to see him today make sure you send the warmest of Birthday wishes. I love you honey and I hope you have a great day…

Photo Flashback Thursday

About once a week I like to take a little bit of time out and look through all my digital pictures and take a little bit of time out and tell a story about just one of those pictures.

This week I took a picture of the original underwear model, eat your heart out Marky Mark I was first, in all my glory.

I couldn't decide whether I wanted to be a baseball player or am underwear model, so I chose the only other choice that I could logically make. A Geographer...LOL

Actually this picture was taken mid to late 60's in Van Voorhis where I lived with my Grandparents. If you take a look in the background you can see one of my Grandfathers's great pride and joys, other than the sexy underwear model, and that was his garden. A plot of ground we worked every spring, summer and harvested every fall.

A time long gone by and surely missed.

Hump Day

Well that's two days that we now have done, let's get today in and the weekend is just on the other side of tomorrow.

I have to say it now, and I may have to repeat it once or twice over the next few months, but I hate snow. I hate the cold weather, the short days and inhibiting your ability to travel. I hate black ice that causes crashes and people to get injured and I hate not being able to walk around in shorts and sandals all day long. Yes I have seen today's weather forecast. (sigh)

I think we are going to go and get our Christmas Tree this weekend. Southern States got in a number of the trees that we like and it is now the Christmas decorating season. Time for the tree, the decorations and the (hint hint) Christmas cookies. I am ready to chow down on some Christmas cookies and Redstone Chocolate, it is that time of the year. I guess that is the one good thing about winter.

Tuesday's Tidbits

* Well Monday is now in our rear view mirror and we are staring straight down the barrel of a Tuesday, I can't think of a better reason to do a tidbits.

* It's been 1,355 days since mine and Michelle's first date a few years ago.

* It's been 578 days since our engagement.

* We have enjoyed 115 days of marital bliss.

* 26 more shopping days left before Christmas.

* Chad's Christmas gift should be arriving at the house today, we ordered it last week. I'm sure everyone would like to know what it is, but so would he...LOL

* In case anyone hasn't noticed, Facebook no longer goes and grabs this feed and posts it to my wall. I'm sure the number of people reading this now will significantly drop, but I'll strt looking for other avenues for this feed.

Back At It

All good things must come to an end, and that includes extended holiday weekends. It's time for us to put our noses back on the grindstone and get back to our weekly grind to earn what we need to enjoy the finer things in life.

Chad is on his way back to Cleveland this morning to start another week of work, Michelle and I are both returning to our jobs and the animals, those lazy felines and canine are taking it easy and either having a big animal party while we are gone or simply just relaxing and sleeping the whole livelong day.

Have a great one, Hi ho hi ho

Sunday Morning Rumblings

Here I sit in quiet house once again on a Sunday Morning. Chad is up doing something in his room and Michelle is sound asleep in the bedroom. I'm sitting at my computer collecting my thoughts and remembering that Mouthwatering Turkey Michelle made yesterday here.

Wow was that thing moist and the stuffing, it was Jean's recipe is all I have to say to anyone who has ever eaten anything she has prepared.

Not sure what we are going to get into today, the Steelers don't play until this evening and I'm not too sure if I will be able to make it all the way through that game, as it is the Sunday Night game. Three of the next four Steelers games are night games including tonight, a Thursday Night game on December 8 and followed by a Monday Night game the next week. If steeler games would start at about 3:00 AM it would fit my sleep schedule better.

Happy Birthday Valarie Nicholson

I would like to take this opportunity to wish my beautiful niece Valarie one hell of a Happy Birthday today. If you happen to run across her today, make sure you take a little bit of time out and extend some very heartfelt birthday wishes.

I'm not going to mention her age, but 28 years ago I had just came back from a Morgantown High Football State Playoff game (They won it all that year) to find out that my Sister Terri had delivered a beautiful little girl, her first. That was 1983, and 28 years ago, but I'll be nice not to mention that Val is turning 28 today. =)

I know after talking to her a couple nights ago that she is planning on going bowling this evening, and I'm sure at least one legal beverage will be included in the evening's festivities.

Happy Birthday Val.

Big Ole Hairy Black Friday

Yes it is once again that time of the week that we all look foreword to, when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Black Friday start of the Christmas Shopping season.

Let the shopping begin, but by the time this posts, if you're reading it you're missing out on the sales. Wal-Mart started off with Toy specials at 10:00 last night and electronic sales at midnight. I stayed warm and cozy while others were fighting that madness.

Looking for some football? How about the 104th edition and might even be the final game of the backyard brawl. West Virginia is leaving for the Big 12 next season and Pitt is heading to the ACC in a couple of years, so there is a distinct possibility that with scheduling conflicts, this may be the last ever backyard brawl. This is the one series I would hope that we can keep alive with all of our eastern rivals.

Have a great day.

Photo Flashback Thanksgiving Thursday

It's Thanksgiving, so I figure for a Photo Flashback Thursday I would select a photo that I remember from a Thanksgiving gone by.

This one is from 2006, we did Thanksgiving at Val's place, Moke was actually away at basic Training and managed to call that day, so we all got a chance to speak to him. This is a picture of Gary checking out the turkey that we all feasted on later that day. Most if my pictures from that day are of everyone taking a nice snooze on val's couch. Gary actually fell asleep with a cigar in his mouth, but I thought this one was a little more appropriate.

Happy Turkey day everyone.

Hump Day????

Yeah right, I'm out till Monday after starting early this afternoon. Taking off early today and off tomorrow and taking Friday off to extend it into a very nice and long weekend.

After work, we'll be picking up a few things and heading out to the firehall to assist in getting ready for Thanksgiving Dinner the next day. I always enjoy Thanksgiving, the Paugh's do it up and serve quite a few Turkey's, including this one. =)

With a few deadlines that I was rushed this week to meet, I'm really glad I'll have a few days to relax. I have no plans on Friday Shopping, tried that once before and it's just not for me.

Tuesday's Tidbits

* Well we have once again kicked Monday's butt and staring straight down the barrel of a Tuesday, I can't think of a better reason than that to do a tidbits.

* It's been 1,348 days since mine and Michelle's first date a few years ago.

* It was 571 days ago that I got down on one knee in the back yard at 4:00 in the morningn and proposed marriage.

* We have had 108 days of wedded bliss.

* There are only 33 days left until Christmas.

* Happy Birthday to Michelle's dad, Dave Carpenter. I'm sure and quinny will be hitting the links some time soon to see who is the better golfer.

* Happy Birthday to Michelle's nephew Corey Marsh who also shares today as a birthday.

* Happy Birthday to Michelle's friend Shawn Ratliff to complete the birthday tri-fecta for Michelle.

* Yesterday was the first day of rifle buck season here in West Virginia.

* I think I'm going to possibly take Friday off and make it a four day weekend, but we'll see how the next couple of days go first.

Back to Work

Well it's time to stop all the enjoyment and stick our noses back to the grindstone for a few days, at least until we all sit down and enjoy a little Thanksgiving Turkey this Thursday.

Michelle and I had a nice relaxing day yesterday, we managed to get the to theater to see a Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas. I do admit they are this generations Cheech and Chong, but I have loved all of their movies, actually own the first two, so I had to see this holiday extravaganza.

For now, it's back to work for at least the next three days. I'm off Thursday and haven't decided whether or not I am planning on working on Friday or not. I guess it all depends on what I get done this week.

Sunday Morning Rumblings

Here I sit, once again in quiet household with everyone here and everyone sound asleep and I am here collecting my thoughts and doing a little work cleaning up my computer. Anytime I have computer problems or it starts to run slow, the guys at WhattheTech have been awesome in helping fix and cleanup any problems that I have had.

Chad was in for the night, he came in to help with the auction and will be heading back probably sometime today and then he will be returning for the Thanksgiving weekend coming up.

We went out yesterday and bought everything that we need to make our Thanksgiving Dinner, which we are going to do next weekend as we go to Michelle's family Thanksgiving Dinner at the Cassville Firehall.

No Steelers today, so have a great day.

Football less weekend.

Wow, I hate weekends like this in the fall, when both the Mountaineers and the Steelers both have byes this week and there really is no football for me to watch of any local interest.

If you are looking for something to do today, my Brother in Law Jim is having one of his auctions this evening at 6:00 at the Cassville Firehall. Check HERE for a partial listing of what is being offered up for auction this evening.

I known Chad is coming back from Cleveland this evening to help Jim with the Auction and Hayley is going to go and help after she gets off work this evening. I'm glad to see the kids helping out, that family has had a very rough week with two passings and funerals this past week.

Michelle had her Dr's appointment for her broken foot yesterday, it's not healing and they need to do schedule an MRI to further investigate. I know she hates wearing those boots, but they are going to need to stay on her foot for a little while longer until they can determine what the problem is.

Have a great day and stay warm.

Looking for some football this weekend? Good luck. The Mountaineers are off, the Steelers are off, University High is done for the season, Clay Battelle is done for the season and only the Morgantown High Mohigans who will be hosting Parkersburg South in the second round of the High School playoffs will be playing.

Once again Nasrin text messaged me yesterday and said that she is heading up a cookie sale for Sabrina's School. I had her send me the flyer LINK to show what they are selling and the order form LINK to order them. Please note you will need to right click the link and save as to use the order form, it's just residing on my website for viewing purposes. If you want to order cookies, either contact me or Nasrin, proceeds will go to the American cancer Society, this is a school, fund raiser. She said she will be coming to Morgantown December 7th and 14th to deliver the cookies. If anyone is interested in ordering some, it goes to a couple good causes. One is Sabrina's school and secondly your sweet tooth =)

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I take a little time out to look back through all of my old pictures looking for a story to tell. This week's picture actually took a little bit of time to find.

In this picture are Michelle's brother in law Jim (in the middle) and his brother Ernie Paugh. I had to see if I could find any pictures of Ernest Howard Paugh, Ernie passed away Sunday and today is his Funeral at Hastings Funeral Home.

RIP Ernie, I know quite a few people who are going to miss you.

Hump Day

Well we have two down and if you look on the other side of tomorrow you can see the dawn of yet another wonderful weekend coming up.

Michelle went back home yesterday for the first of two funerals this week. She stayed last night and plans on attending her Uncle Terry's funeral today before heading back to Morgantown later today. Tomorrow will be Ernie's funeral so to say this has been a long week for her is an understatement.

Short but Sweet Tuesday's Tidbits

* I usually write my weekday blogs the night before and let them post in the early AM, with two deaths in the family and all that is going on I forgot to write it last night. Hence the short and sweet.

* 1,341 days since mine and Michelle's first date.

* 564 Days since our engagement.

* 101st day of marital bliss.

* I do at some point today plan on scratching my ass in case anyone does or does not want to know.

* Hi ho hi ho off to the gym I go.

Monday

I'm here that's about the best that I can say. Michelle lost two family members yesterday and needs to put in a long day today to make sure she gets some things done before she is pulled away from her job on family matters.

I'll be staying here in Morgantown, Hayley has to work and I'll be transporting her home from work. Chad will be leaving for work in Cleveland that he may be gone until the first of the year on a contract they need to complete. He's working for Xerox doing some network set up work.

Prayers to Michelle and her Family

Knowing that she had two family members who were fighting for their lives before we even got up yesterday morning was bad enough. While we were preparing breakfast this morning the first phone call came. Michelle's Uncle Terry had passed away in Ohio.

Michelle was planning on going up for the funeral which will be Wed and staying Tuesday night.

Then came the other bit of news a little while ago when she found out that her Uncle Ernie had passed away here in Morgantown.

My heart and prayers go out to Michelle and her family at this time of loss. This is going to be a long week, for all of them.

Please keep Michelle and her family in your prayers. This will be a very trying week for all of them.

One is in East Liverpool Ohio and the other funeral will be in Morgantown.

Final Day

Well my three day weekend comes to a close after today, this will be the final day off that I will have for my Veterans Day extended Holiday weekend.

Anyone catch the WVU-Cincinnati game yesterday? Those officials are some of the worst that I have ever seen cover a game. Seriously after 2nd and 16 you make you spot the ball in the wrong spot and give them a first down to then have to challenge the spot that was about 4 yards off from where it should have been. You don't have forward progress coming back to the ball, that's going in the opposite direction. However they get that sorted out and you don't go from 2nd and 16 to 2nd and 1 after a 15 yard pass play. Dana had to make them go to the replay booth to see that it was third down. Really? We won the game, but that has to be one of the worst officiating crews that I have ever seen for a college football game and that's saying something. Oh, and the Mountaineers went on the road and beat the #23 team at their house 24-21, when you have the winning team complaining about the officials you really need to take notice.

Well it's on to cheering for the NFL today as the Pittsburgh Steelers will play the Cincinnati Bengals today at 1:00 in the same stadium the Mountaineers played in yesterday, Paul Brown Stadium. I guess I better soak it in, because next week BOTH the Mountaineers AND the Pittsburgh Steelers will have Bye weeks and won't be playing. No Football next weekend? Lot's of sadness.

Have a great day.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit once again in quiet household, no one is up yet but me. This will be changing soon as Hayley has to be at work by 8:30 this morning and we'll be running her up there and probably doing our weekly shopping at this time.

The Mountaineers play today, and if you have Comcast you can only watch the game on channel 188 if you get from what I am reading on Facebook, so if this is incorrect don't blame the messenger.

Have a great day and stay warm.

Big Ole Hairy Friday and three day Weekend

Yes it is once again that time of the week that we all look foreword to, when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday and a three day weekend for yours truly.

Looking for a little football action, with the start of the High School Playoffs, the Morgantown Mohigans will be hosting Musselman this evening at Pony Lewis Field. Clay Battelle will be playing host to Moorefield.

West Virginia will be traveling to play the Big East leading Cincinnati Bearcats tomorrow in Cincinnati. Yes the game will be on Television at it will be played at noon.

Nasrin text messaged me yesterday and said that she is heading up a cookie sale for Sabrina's School.

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I take a little bit of time out and look through all of my old pictures and select one just to tell a little story about. It's one of my favorite BLOG's of the week next to the one I do tomorrow, and I had to spend a little time this week to select a special picture to write about.

This weeks picture was taken at the WVU Marshall Football where WVU won 27-3, like we do every time we play Moo Tech, and we were tailgating with Michelle's company prior to the game. The other girl in the picture is the daughter of the founder of BFS, and the tall guy in the middle of this picture is former Marshall basketball Center and We Are Marshall actor Mark Patton. They wanted to get their picture taken with him, so they did.

Michelle actually has this picture hanging in her office at work. Speaking of work....hi ho hi ho

Hump Day

Well that's two down and two to go for me as Friday is a Holiday for me, the rest of you who are not that fortunate are going up over that hump today.

I don't know how everyone else feels, but I am starting to absolutely love this weather. Now if it could just manage to stay in the 70's all winter until Spring then I would be one heck of a happy camper. I know all the ski people wouldn't like that, but I'm not one of those people who likes cold weather or strapping two boards to my feet and sliding down a hill covered with snow.

Well we are down a pet this week, Hayley has given her pet bird Veritas to Michelle's mom Susie. It will definitely have get more attention up there as Hayley is one of those kinds of people who likes to stay busy and on the run, so it's better off for him.

Tuesday's Tidbits

* Well Monday is once again behind us and we are staring straight down the barrel of a Tuesday, for the life of me I can't think of a better reason that that to do a tidbits.

* 1,334 days since Michelle and I went to see that god awful movie 10,000 BC. It was a magical night in my life, but I'll be honest the movie was horrible.

* It's been 557 days since I got down on one knee in the back yard and proposed marriage.

* We have had 94 days of marital bliss. We have Kim Kardashian beat.

* 47 more shopping days left until Christmas.

* Micheal Jackson's Doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray has been found guilty of Involuntary manslaughter.

* I see my niece Val has had some Comcast issues over the past week, she said they are giving her three free movie channels for 90 days. I wonder if Bobby knows about Cinemax???

* With the back issues, I still managed to go and walk yesterday morning before work. No weight lifting, just walking and at a slower pace and not on the treadmill. I'll take it slow and see if it gets more painful or if I'll be able to moderately continue to work out.

* I realized something yesterday, when people have Birthdays on Facebook I try to consciously wish everyone who is having a birthday a very Happy Birthday. Yesterday without thinking I wished someone I went to High School with a very Happy Birthday. It was after I hit submit that I remembered he has been blind for a number of years. How does a blind man set up a Facebook account?

Back to Work

Yeah here we go again, another Monday and the start of another week of work. Only for me this will be only a four day work week as Friday is Veterans Day and a Federal Holiday.

I'm feeling a little better, better than I was last Friday that's for sure, but I think I am going to take a couple days off from working out. I'm not sure if what I had was the start of kidney stones or cruised kidney's, but I want to give them a few more days to recover before I get back into my daily workout routine.

It was a relaxing weekend, considering the Mountaineers had a bad weekend, and we had a visit from Michelle's Mother for the day from Pittsburgh. We did show her how to make butter and I think she liked that. My guess is she will give it a try when she gets home.

Can't put off the inevitable, hi ho hi ho

Sunday Morning Rumblings

Twice this year I have written in a BLOG about how WVU was going to beat their opponents this year in football. One was the Syracuse BLOG which we managed to lose that game 23-49 and then this past Friday I did it again when referring to Louisville and we lost yesterday 35-38.

Dear Dana Holgorsen, how am I supposed to trash talk inferior opponents that we have been favored to beat by two scores when you can't seem to beat them? Come on coach, if you were better prepared (and didn't make a statement that you invite the pressure) maybe we could win one of these games. Something tells me you're about to lose an already fickle but over expecting fan base. Bob Huggins is from Morgantown, an Alumnus, lead us to the Final 4 and has been named the Coach of the Year before. He has the history and fan support to allow for games like Friday night, you on the other hand are a first year cocky coach who can't say "you know" enough in interviews and do not enjoy the leeway that Coach Huggins has earned.

Here is my advice to you:

1.) It's a simple game. All you have to do is move the sticks. When you are playing sisters of the poor that home run ball works more often, but as the weather gets colder (you didn't have that element in Texas) you have to understand this simple concept. Move the sticks, get a fresh set of downs.

2.) Special teams. They have cost you in all three losses this year, especially yesterdays game. That blocked Field Goal for a Touchdown alone was a 10 point swing. This was the fourth opponent this year we have given a special teams touchdown to (Marshall Punt Return, LSU Kickoff Return, Syracuse Kickoff Return and Louisville Blocked Field goal for a Touchdown) this season. We have lost 3 out of those four games. We had a punter that had an 11 and 12 yard punt. This is after we benched the first punter who had two in a row like this. You should be able to go to any Jr High school and find the average kid in any Phys Ed class that can consistently beat this. Why can't a Div 1 Football school with a well paid coach find one that can do this? Let's not forget the missed chip shot field goal either because Geno rushed third down at the end of the third quarter to throw an uncatchable fade pass.

3.) Defense. I understand they have lost a lot of players, however when they give the offense a gift and they can't capitalize on it, that is the problem. If someone would teach these guys there very simple principals of tackling instead of trying to blow someone up, we may very well be undefeated right now.

4.) Energy. It's your job as the head Coach, you're the one making the big salary, to have these guys ready. What are you doing in the locker room if anything? What ever it is, it's not working. Find a solution.

Have a great day.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

A little later this morning than I usually post, Michelle and I are both already up and have made breakfast and are planning on what we are going to do for the day. The Mountaineers play at noon and I think we're going to make a trip to Sam's club this morning when they open up to do some of our weekly shopping.

I had to come home from work yesterday early, I thought I had the start of kidney stones or something along those lines. I was actually in a lot of pain, I had went in with all intentions of working out but never made it to the gym. I took a trip to the OHU (Occupational health Unit) and they checked my urine and it came back fine, so I went to WVU urgent care to get looked at and I have to say I left that place less than impressed. Dr wrote a couple prescriptions for a muscle relaxer and a narcotic for pain, and never even looked at my back. I'm not a junkie looking for a quick fix so needless to say I wasn't looking for nor do I have any intentions in getting either of those prescriptions filled. I can deal with the pain, I just wanted to make sure there is not an underlying medical issue causing this.

I have to say that I find it ironic that Urgent care has a sign out front that says they do not prescribe pain killers or refills for pain killers and the quack that saw me did not even look at me and wrote out two prescriptions. His diagnosis without even looking was generalized back pain. No shit Sherlock, please tell me you did not graduate from West Virginia University Medical School, there was no one else there and you seemed to be more preoccupied with the sports page than your The Hippocratic Oath. At least the Nurse at OHU did a urine test ton test for blood (everything came out normal). What a quack.

Anyways, good news is Chad has got a job now with Xerox. He'll be starting not this Monday but the following Monday in Cleveland on a job working with his cousin Jonny for a month or so on that job, then they will get him something local. Michelle and I went out last night and bought him some business causal attire to work in. It's actually a VERY good job, it's the chance off a lifetime for him, I just hope he makes the best out of it and builds on this opportunity.

Have a great Saturday and Let's Go Mountaineers.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes it is once again that time of the week that we all look foreword to, when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday!!!!

Looking for some High School Football? The Morgantown High Mohigans close out their regular season tonight when they travel Brooke to play the Brooke Bruins. Out in Blacksville Clay Battelle tries to register their ninth win of the season when they play host to Madonna.

The Mountaineers play host to the Looneyville (yes I spelled that correctly judging on how their fans have been acting this week) Cardinals tomorrow at noon on ESPN 3. I hope Geno and company light up the scoreboard and send the couple whiny Looneyville fans that are going to show up for the game home disappointed.

Some of you might want to note that you will get an extra hour of sleep this weekend as we will set the clocks back Saturday Night/Sunday Morning. So the weekend will be an extra hour longer that normal.

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out and look through all of the digital images that I have. Some have been scanned and some have came from digital photos. I like to select just one, and recall the picture a little bit in my BLOG.

Today's picture is of my sister Terri's three kids Val, Amy and Bub. This is the earliest picture that I know of of the three of them, and Terri used (may still) have a pig picture that hung in her home of this image. As I recall it was embedded on a frame to look something like a block of wood from a tree.

My guess is that this picture was taken not too long after Bub aka RJ was born, hence my assumption that this may be the first picture taken of the three of them.

They were (and still are) some cute and lovable kids.

Cured Foundation

Cured Foundation

My niece Amy has really taken to this cause, mainly because her Sister in Law's son (her and Ralph's nephew) suffers from this.

In a Repost of her facebook:

**This is not a chain letter of any type, PLEASE take a minute to read!!**
Dear Friends,

As many of you know, my child Hunter age:2 , suffers
from a rare autoimmune disease called Eosinophilic Esophagitis ("EE"). Kids
with EE are quite literally allergic to food. The proteins in food cause a build up in the digestive tract and blood of a white blood cell called an
eosinophil.Eosinophils are meant to attack parasites, but the body of a child with EE
mistakes food for a parasite. As a result, the build up of eosinophils
cause numerous and very serious health problems, including, failure to grow
and thrive, uncontrollable vomiting, severe stomach and throat pain,
inability to sleep, joint pain, just to name a few. Many kids with EE can only eat
1 or 2 foods and have a feeding tube to survive. CURED is a charity that I
am actively involved with that raises money to find a cure for EE. CURED has
donated over $2 million to research over the past 6 years. CURED has begun
a $1 challenge. We are looking to find 500,000 people to each donate $1 or
more to CURED, since that is something that almost everyone can do in
these hard economic times. If you are interested in donating, please write
Hunter Friend on your donation and mail it to CURED at P.O. Box 32,
Lincolnshire, IL 60069. or go to www.curedfoundation.org and make a donation
via pay pal. Furthermore, if you wish to go even a step further, please forward this email to your family and friends. The more we get the word out there, the more
likely it will be that we will reach our goal. Thanks for your help!!! Happy Holidays!!

She has mentioned about trying to organize a benefit for this this spring. OK Readers, any suggestions?

Hump Day

Well that's two down, now if you just look over this hump beyond the horizon you can see the dawn of another weekend just on the other side of Thursday.

I was sitting around and thinking last night, we're already in the month of November. I mean Summer is long gone, we've already seen the first snow of the season and I've started warming the car up in the mornings. The trees have lost most of their leaves and days are getting shorter and shorter. heck we are just a few days from setting our clocks back an hour and getting an extra hour of sleep this coming weekend.

I miss the spring time, the time of a dawn of summer and warm weather. I guess this is just the weather I am going to have to get used to over the course of the next six or so months. Yuck.

With the days getting shorter and the weather getting colder, I guess I could start to get ready for the Holiday Season and Michelle's Christmas cookies that are probably a month or so away.

Tuesday's Tidbits

* Well Monday is finally behind us and we are now looking straight down the barrel of a Tuesday, can't think of a better reason than that to do a tidbits.

* It's been 1,327 days since mine and Michelle's first date.

* 550 Days since our engagement.

* 87th day of marital bliss.

* 54 more shopping days left until Christmas.

* Unfortunately we did not make it to Jean's yesterday for Trick or Treat, Michelle who has been sick for the last week came home sick yesterday and we didn't want to infect anyone she may come into contact with.

* West Virginia University is suing the Big East to avoid the 27 month exit time frame in a legal attempt to allow us to join the Big 12 for the 2012 season.

* I'm waiting to see some family pictures from last night, I can't remember the last time I was not at East Gate Manor for Halloween.

Happy Halloween

Once a year east gate gets invaded, invaded with hundreds of ghosts and goblins all seeking a sweet treat in exchange for leaving you alone and not tricking you later in the evening. Jean of course has managed to avoid being tricked throughout the years by providing such delicious candied treats.

It's time for Trick or Treating again, and once again we will be going to Jean's to be handing out candy to usually between 3-400 trick or treaters on an average year. I will once again be on hand and try to get as many photos as I can of the evening.

On a side note, Michelle is finally starting to feel better, I guess seeing the Steelers beat the heck out of New England yesterday was a good cure for the cold.

Sunday Morning Rumblings

I am sitting here in a quiet house once again, in the early AM and not a creature stirring in the house. Just watched Love and Other Drugs on HBO (Great Movie) and am now watching Jerry Maguire on Encore.

A special thank you to the my brother Gary, the best brother in the world for coming over yesterday and changing the rear brakes on the Taurus for me. I can do front brakes, but I have only watched the rear brakes get done once and that was the best brother in law in the World 20 years ago. There is always Youtube, but I would prefer to have someone who knows what they are doing rather than me guessing.

Michelle is starting to feel a little better, but broken foot and all she is still under the weather. She has been pounding the vitamin C over the weekend and getting plenty of rest.

Todays agenda is grocery shopping and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers play this afternoon.

Have I ever mentioned I hate snow?

Saturday Morning Tidbits

* I usually do this on Tuesday, but I have a few things that I wan to touch on this morning.

* First of congratulations to the Morgantown High Mohigans for winning the MoHawk Bowl yesterday evening 49-27. Way to go Mphigans.

* The Big news of yesterday however broke yesterday morning and was actually almost news earlier in the week.West Virginia University would be leaving the Big East and Officially joining the Big 12 on July 1, 2012. It ended a few months of speculation by the Mountaineer nation. After Pitt and Syracuse announced they would be leaving the Big East for the ACC, the Mountaineers flirted with the SEC initially and later with the Big 12 where we were finally given an official invitation yesterday.

* Speaking of the Mountaineers, who will be leaving for the Big 12 next season, we will be losing many of our traditional rivalries. Today at 3:30, may be the last game between WVU and Rutgers in a Nationally broadcast game at 3:30 on ABC.

* OK, I'm already tired of the cold weather, the snow and the shorter days. Cam we do a repeat starting at about Spring? Not a big fan of the snow.

* Have a Great day and Go Mountaineers.

Yes it is once again that time of the week that we all look foreword to, when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday!!!!

Looking for a little bit of High School Football? Well tonight is the night, the night when the Morgantown High Mohigans travel across town to their rival University High Hawks to take part in the yearly MoHawk Bowl. I'm picking my alma mater to once again extend their series win streak in this rivalry, it should be a very good game. It was just a few short years ago this game was #1 vs #2 in at Mountaineer Field in front of 20,000 people. Those days however are long gone by, but it is still going to be a very good game tonight.

University High needs to win this one tonight to extend their season into the playoffs, a loss could mean the end of the season for UHS. Morgantown will be trying to gain and secure a first round playoff game at home.

Both teams will be playing for something tonight, should be an interesting game.

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out to select one of my tens of thousands of digital photo's (not all porn believe it or not ...LOL) and select just one photo to just tell a little story about. It is one of my favorite BLOG's of the week.

This week, the honor goes to one of my oldest and dearest friends that goes all the way back to my High School days. It's on none other than Smitty "aka BIG DADDY (or silly daddy depending on how many beers he had has that night)).

This picture was taken five years ago, when John and his daughters Emily and Brittany (Not sure where Meg was that night) were attending a Morgantown High School Football game. Something John and I used to do together on a regular basis. This night was one however that we both showed up on the same night to watch the Mohigans, who by coincidence will be beating the University High Hawks tomorrow night in the MoHawk Bowl.

Like Sands in the Hourglass

As a die hard WVU fan, this season and our conference association has been nothing short of roller coaster ride. The season starts off with the Big East talking about adding Villanova and adding TCU. Pitt and Syracuse decide they have had enough and boot scoot to the ACC. TCU then spurns the Big East and accepts a Big 12 invite.

There were rumors a few weeks ago that West Virginia would be heading to the SEC, but that would all hinge on what Missouri was going to do. If they were going to stay in the Big 12, we were possibly the 14th team to go to the SEC. Missouri on the other hand is rumored to be first in line for the SEC over WVU, so things started to look bleak and that was before Syracuse schooled us last Friday Night.

Yesterday the rumors shifted to West Virginia going to the Big 12 to replace Missouri. Big East football as we have once known it, is quickly dying. If we leave, their BCS affiliation will be out the door. Stay tuned for any official announcements.
