Tuesday's Tidbits

* Monday is now complete, it's Halloween and I say let's do a Halloween version of a tidbits.

* It has been 21,852 days since I was born, that is 21 years using my new,  new, and improved 1,000-day Calendar. I do have to say I am starting to feel my age or older than 21.

* It has been 7,112 days since I graduated from WVU with a Degree in Geography. I do love what I do and I can see me doing this into my retirement years.

* 5,700 days ago Michelle and I had our first date together, the pizza hut is gone, the movie was 10,000 BC. What a horrible pick I made for a movie.

* 4,903 days ago I proposed to Michelle in the backyard at 4:00 in the morning. Second best decision I ever made.

* It was 4,448 days ago in front of our closest friends and family, for the most part, Michelle and I became husband and wife at the Marilla Center, we poured sand into a vase and said our I do's and we were hitched.

* I have now lived 2,084 days longer than my Dad did and I'm still going strong, slowing down but still going.

* Michelle has been living a clean and productive life and beat that alcohol demon 743 days ago today.

* My older Brother Jonathan lived 21,266 days, I've now outlived him by 609 days making me Senior Supreme Sibling once again! Sunday would have been his 61st Birthday.

* I have 2,988 days to go until I retire, give or take a few hundred days here or there, but I love doing what I do. Who knows though, doing what I do I may never retire.

* There are 319 more days until we go to Pittsburgh and beat the Panther's butts in their stadium.

* There are 306 more days to go until the Mountaineers will try to get some revenge here in Morgantown for last weekend when Penn State comes to Morgantown.

* There are 279 more days to go until Michelle and I celebrate our Thirteenth Wedding Anniversary together.

* There are only 141 days to go until the next start of my favorite Season. Spring 2024.

* 102 more days until Phil steps to center stage once again for Groundhogs Day, that's when he tells us we will have an early spring.

* 60 more days to go until my Goodbye 2023 Blog is posted, I'm just now getting started on content for that one.

* There are 55 more shopping days left until Christmas 2023. You still have plenty of time to prepare and get ready.

* There are 32 days until I hit the age of 60. Yeah I know, I'm really older than 21.

* It has been ∞ (infinity symbol) a number of days that I have hated both Pitt and Penn State.

* I have written 7,352 blogs in the now 18 1/2 years plus a couple of days of being a blogger.

* Older Drone still needs to be sent out for repairs, not a big priority at this time. My little drone is awesome and I really like it....when I take time out to fly it.

* I think I know where I want to do my next drone flight, out by the old county graveyard whenever I get to it.

* It's been about 13 weeks since the last time I had a soda or really anything carbonated, pretty remarkable stretch.

* Still playing Monopoly Go. I think among my friends and family I'm still in 13th place. Kim and Terri and #1 and #2 respectively. I'm trying to catch up.

* Mountaineers are playing at home this week, hosting BYU

* How about I start doing my favorite Tic Tok of the week? This is this week's Tic Tok, I saw this a couple of weeks ago and thought it was a very interesting strategy.

* Have a great day and watch out for all the ghouls.

* Hi ho hi ho

Monday

Well, that fun-filled thing called the weekend is now in our rearview mirror and we are starting another fun-filled week of doing what it is that we do for a living. Now it is time to take our collective noses and stick them back onto the grindstone of life and get back to doing what we do to make this a better rock to live on.

Got my first full week in last week, however today I do have an interview during my lunchtime with a company that is more local. Out of state, but still local and in the same industry I am working in now. Hopefully I knock this one out of the ballpark as this is a full-time permanent job. It's going to be a busy day none the less.

Michelle is going to have a short week, she is going to take Friday off so she can help Jim and Chris set up for their Christmas auction on Friday evening. I'll be working until 6:00 and then I'll check in to see how much help Amy needs up on the mountain for Terri's Benefit Dinner on Saturday afternoon. It is going to be a very busy week and weekend for the both of us. Nick has arranged for The Helicopter Collective on Saturday as well.

Have yourselves a great day.

Sunday

Here Kiwi and I sit on a quiet Sunday Morning, we're up talking about what has happened to WVU's Defense and Neal Brown should have fronted him a plane ticket to Orlando and we would have pitched a shut out.

I want to start out by telling a story about my amazing wife. She decided to renew her drivers license early, in case Terri's Chemo causes her to lose her hair, she and Kim are shaving their heads, so she got her drivers license picture taken now rather than while she is wearing a wig. She was filling out her card and she made a big decision, she has decided that she is now going to be an organ donor. Our friend Trish is on the list to have a heart transplant and Michelle thought of her and Layla and decided if something happens to her she would be fine with removing her organs and donating them to someone to give them a chance at life. Trish was on her mind when she made that decision, you talk about a selfless sacrifice. I'm not an organ donor, I may have to re-evaluate that decision for the same reasons. I am married to a truly amazing woman.

Yesterday we got a whole lot down. We stopped on Friday night at Lowes and got stuff for one basket next weekend and yesterday morning we ran around and Michelle built two more baskets, both targeted at kids. I bought tool packs, she bought games and such as well as some candy and a few other things to go into the baskets. I think we are set as far as baskets from our end, we have three made.If we have to pick anything else up, I'll do it on Saturday the day of the fundraiser.

What is on today's agenda? We'll be doing our shopping and other chores that we do on Sundays. Got to pay some bills and do the finances and maybe watch a little bit of Steeler Football. The Steelers play the Jaguars at 1:00.

Oh, I almost forgot that I talked to Gary a little bit yesterday morning. Got a text message from him as we were going to Rural King and we talked a few minutes. He's going to try to make it in Saturday, said he's planning on it but his car isn't working and the motorcycle has a hole in the radiator. So we shall see. It would be nice to get a group picture, but that is all going to depend on how Terri Feels as well.

Have yourselves a great day.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit in a semi-quiet household. Kiwi and I are up talking waiting for Michelle to wake up so we can go to the Laundromat and finish up a few things. Kiwi said he wants to go, but he doesn't feel like flying that far and wants to drive. I told him as soon as he presents a valid driver's license, he's not too happy with me.

A trip to the laundromat this morning is on my and Michelle's agenda. We bought some of these comforter bags that you seal up and hook up to a vacuum to suck all of the air out of them. WE compressed a couple comforters last week and the seals are still very good, so we'll do that again today with some of our other comforters.

I still need to prepare a basket for next weeks spaghetti dinner benefit fundraiser for my sister Terri. We'll probably start putting something together today to assemble a couple of baskets for next weekend. Terri started her Chemo this past week, but I have not gotten a chance to talk to her other than the day she had it and she was tired.

Felt good to get back to working full time, would you believe I have an interview this coming Monday, but this will be for a permanent position with benefits in the same industry, but more local to me rather than working on lines in Texas. Wish me luck.

The Mountaineers are playing UCF today at noon on FS1. We are an underdog in this game, which is no big surprise. We'll have to wait and see.

Have yourselves a great day.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday!

Are you ready for a little bit of High School Football? Tonight will be a big one here in town.  My Morgantown High Mohigans are going to be traveling to this side of town to take on the University High Hawks in the 2023 version of the MoHawk Bowl. I'm not going to be nice, Go MOHIGANS!!!!!! Clay Battelle will be playing host to Paden City out in Blacksville. Good Luck to 2 out of 3 teams tonight, not wishing University High any luck, Go Mohigans. =)

Other than that WVU is playing on the road this week, so Michelle and I will try to assemble a basket or two for next weekend's Spaghetti Dinner and Raffle Benefit for my sister Terri. We are in the final week to get ready for this and hopefully everything will come together.

Have yourselves a great day.

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out, time to look at some of the 30,000+ photos that I have stored on my computer. Little lost moments in time that I either captured with a lens, scanned or just stole from someplace on the internet. I like to find just one and post it up and recall or relive the picture to the best of my ability. Sometimes this is a pretty easy task and sometimes it's not that easy, one thing it has always been a whole lot of fun.

This week's pic is one that I am contractually obligated to do, Kiwi has it in his co-authorship contract that if he helps me write blogs, I have to actually occasionally feature him in one of my blogs. You can tell by the mean look on his face that he was getting ready to have his team of attorneys (Sophie and Peanut) come after me and sure for additional compensation if he was not featured soon.

Not to disappoint, this was taken this past summer, it was a nice hot day and Kiwi had me open the sliding glass doors and he flew his cage outside under a shade tree so he could visit his aviary cousins who were flying around.

This fulfills my contractual obligation to Kiwi.

Have a great day and make your own memories.

New Job

A new week and new goals ahead. All the weekend fun and or complaining about Saturday's dismal game are over with and now it is time to get back to work and set new goals and start accomplishing them.

Today is my first day with Matrix, another staffing company as I begin a new contract with a western gas company called Atmos. I will once again be doing GIS but will venture into a world that I am unfamiliar with called Smallworld. It's not a software than I am familiar with, but one that I will quickly learn with my understanding of things Geospatial. This is going to be a big project and I'm one of the first ones brought in for this project, so there will be an opportunity to expand my skillsets. I am still looking for full time employment, but this will do for the time being plus I like the people I will be working with. Two of them worked with me for Duquesne Light so there is that little bit of familiarity with co-workers. I'll have a set schedule this week but with some freedom next week and beyond. It's good to be back at it. I'll have to update my resume and LinkedIn Profile this week.

Michelle will be visiting her Mom this evening after work, so I'll be on my own for dinner. However, my amazing wife made Pepperoni Rolls and Ham and Cheese Rolls yesterday so I am not going to be starving to death. Anorexia will not get me, I have a wife who is a great cook...lol

Have yourselves a great day and the start of a great week.

HI HO HI HO!!!!!!!!

Sunday

Here Kiwi and I once again sit in the early morning hours, we are up discussing what are planning to do today and he has reminded me he needs some unsalted sunflower seeds. He really likes those and likes it when we stick them in the bottom of his treat bowl. It has to be in a specific order or he gets a little upset and starts calling me a slave driver. I think he wants to renegotiate his contract.

So what is on our agenda for the day? We have our meals and shopping list ready and we are going to head out and do our grocery shopping for the day. We're going to do beef tips and noodles for dinner this evening.

No Sunday is ever complete without our house chores and me writing the weeks worth of blogs in anticipation of me being busy. Yes I am confirmed to start tomorrow. I'm glad to get back to work and kill the boredom.

Michelle was cleaning out the back bedroom yesterday, it's amazing how much shi----junk we had back there. Most of it was leftover stuff from Hayley's wedding that we never used. It's amazing how many big contractor bags and we have taken to the trash and how many boxes we have burned.

Have yourselves a great day.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here Kiwi and I sit in the early morning, we're up discussing the magic of whipping heavy whipping cream which is all white into two other products, butter and buttermilk. He said butter is yellow and Heavy whipping cream is white. He said when it turns into whipped cream it's white, but at some point it becomes yellow when it becomes butter. We're both up researching that phenomenon. He said this breast mystery has kept him up all night.

It's Homecoming for WVU this afternoon here in Morgantown. Traffic should be quite heavy today despite the weather being all rainy. The Oklahoma State Cowboys will be visiting Morgantown this afternoon for a 3:30 kickoff on ESPN. This might be a day to grab a snack and a warm blanket and enjoy the game from the comforts of your own home as the weather doesn't seem like it wants to cooperate today. We'll have to wait and see.

No big plans for us this weekend, I know Michelle wants to continue to organize that back bedroom and get a lot of Hayley's excess wedding stuff cataloged and photographed so we can take them to Jim and Chris's Auction or sell it on some wedding site

I do start my new job this Monday after it being delayed a week for security reasons (because we are working with gas pipeline data). I'll be working for a Company called Matrix (not the one in Morgantown) and I'll be contracted to Atmos Energy as they begin to assemble their geospatial infrastructure as so many utility companies are starting to do or update. I've actually got a few other gas utility companies wanting to interview me in the coming week(s). This will once again be a work at home job and I'm supplying all my own equipment. I'm still working for Parsons and the Department of Defense, whenever they get their red tape and funding sorted out.

All three Monongalia County teams are coming off of losses and need to start new winning streaks starting today. My Morgantown High Mohigans are on the road against John Marshall in Moundsville. University is also on the road when they travel to play Preston. Clay Battelle is the only local team playing at home this weekend when they host Belpre Ohio out in Blacksville. Good Luck to all teams this evening, let's see if we can bring home 3 victories this evening.

WVU is playing Oklahoma State this evening and it is Homecoming here in Morgantown. The Mountaineers will play host to Oklahoma State tomorrow at 3:30, so traffic will be at a peak once again this weekend as many visitors will be visiting town. Allow yourselves a little extra time to comute around town and avoid being around the stadium if you can.

Have yourselves a great day.

Michelle's Nephew John and his wife Laura have an in ground pool at their home. They have hosted a number of pool parties for birthday parties and so on.

Michelle and I were walking through Sam's Club a few years ago and we saw this huge inflatable Giraffe that she just had to have. I'm not sure who had more fun with that thing, Little Johnnie or Michelle.LOL

Have a great day

Two Years

It has been two years ago today, 730 days since my wonderful wife decided that she needed to make a life-changing decision and I could not be any more proud of her.

It's been two years since Michelle had her last drink and decided that she needed some professional help. so she went to Detox and started going to AA meetings, but she had to step up to assist her Mom and that took priority, but it did not inhibit her recovery in the slightest. She basically did it all on her own and I could not be any more proud of her.

No one knows the dark place Michelle had allowed herself to fall into, especially after she lost her job and her dad died the same day. I think that was the point where she started to go over the edge and fell into a dark place that I didn't see. Let's just say it was bad, really bad.

She is an amazing woman, and I am very proud of her, and I do like her a lot more when she doesn't;t drink. I think she likes life more too.

Have yourselves a great day.

Happy Birthday Brittany Dae Cummings

I would love to take this time out to wish my beautiful niece Brittany a very Happy Birthday today.

It seems like it was only yesterday that she was born, it's amazing how 33 years can go by in the very blink of an eye. It seems like just yesterday I was in the waiting room watching Who's the Boss and Kim and Ed was in the delivery room waiting for this bundle of joy. The amazing thing about all of this is that this remarkable young lady is now nine years older than me.

She is an amazing young woman, and I think she has found someone very special to her to spend this day with. It has been my honor to watch her develop into the lovely young lady that she has become. It'll be less than a year now, when Brittany's last name will change as we are within a year of her and Matt's marriage.

If you get a chance to see or talk to this marvelous young lady today, make sure that you take a little bit of time out and wish her the Happiest of Birthdays today.

 Happy Birthday, Brittany.

Sunday

Here I sit once again in a quiet household, it's just me and my buddy Kiwi up talking about whatever comes to mind. He brought up Subatomic particles and I brought up the proper way to eat a Hostess Ho Ho (slowly of course). Protons vs Sugary Cream Center, what a conversation to have early in the morning.

I was talking to Michelle about her upcoming jury duty and my suspicions were correct. She always loves watching true crime-type dramas and loves this stuff, needless to say, I think she is excited about this assignment.  I have a theory though, if you have never been on Jury Duty and you verbally say it, there are little Jury Duty Microphones and Sensors everywhere to know that you have said it and it automatically pushes you to the top of the list. Too many examples of this. It comes from the voter rolls, so if you are a registered voter you could very well get called.

So what did we get into yesterday> Not much. it was raining and Michelle went to Lucky Duck yesterday Morning. There were a number of pink breast cancer items she wanted to get and make baskets out of for the benefit in a few weeks. She bought a number of baskets Friday night and yesterday she was looking to fill them.

Today's agenda is going to involve Michelle and I doing our grocery shopping in the morning and probably relaxing in the afternoon. It should be a lazy day, but you never know.

Have yourselves a great day.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit in a semi-quiet household, Kiwi still blames me for Thursday Night's Loss. Said I covered him up and put him to bed too early and that allowed Houston to win on a last-second hail Mary pass to beat us. He swears if he was able to call the defense the game would have ended with a sack, and we would have won.

It has been a strange week for me to say the least. Monday I was supposed to start working for with Matrix on a contract job. This time last week everything was all set and ready to go.

However I was also scheduled to appear for Jury Duty this coming week. Got my notification in August and did everything I needed to do, but it was going to conflict with my start date. So I contacted the Judges Office and I had it moved from November 20-December 1. I'll only have to serve two of the six weeks and it will be the next jury session rather than this one. This is where it gets strange, guess who else got a Jury summons yesterday for a six week assignment starting November 20th with the same judge and same courtroom. Michelle jinxed herself and now will be serving during that term, but she'll do there entire time where I just have to do two weeks. I got the mail yesterday and called her because I received a similar summons previously and then the altered one with the altered dates. Call us the Juror Couple.

Like I said I was supposed to start training Monday, however with the current world event and considering we will have access to where critical infrastructure was running, the company we are working for Atmos Energy wanted additional security measures in place before we start. They decided that we had to have a TSA Precheck and a KTN (Known Traveler Number) before we could start. I found this out Wednesday Afternoon late, so on Thursday I traveled to Pittsburgh (closest center) to go through the process. I was told it could take anywhere between 3-5 days and as many as 60 before I was approved. Well when you have had HPSD badges, Confidential Background checks for a number of Government Agencies and a Clearance with the Department of Defense, it doesn't take 3 days. More like 24 hours and I had my approval and my KTN. Now I am just waiting to hear back from the client.

So that was my yesterday and this week. Nothing planned for today.

Well  My Morgantown High Mohigans will be hosting Parkersburg South at Pony Lewis Field. You can watch the game this evening on the link provided. University High will be playing host to Spring Mills at University High and Clay Battelle travels to play Cameron this evening. Good luck to all area teams this evening, play hard and play safe.

The Morgantown Area Balloon Festival  kicked off  yesterday. There will be a launch at 7:00 this morning and 4:00 this afternoon. Keep an eye out for the Mountain Mama Balloon, it's owned and piloted by a long time friend of mine Chris Christopher. There will also be launches tomorrow at 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM and Sunday at 8:00 AM all if weather permits. Get out your cameras as it is a great time to take some very scenic photos.

For this weeks Photo Flashback we look no further than this past Saturday. Michelle and I had went down for the Breast Cancer Survivors walk down on the rails to trails. They had a lot of booths set up along the trail and one of the vendors was the Monongalia County Health Department. They were there administering free flu shots so Michelle and I jumped at the opportunity to get ours. Saved us about $50 from getting them at Sams.

The pictures were posted on their Facebook Feed, I never even saw the camera.

Have a great day

Tuesday's Tidbits

* Monday is now complete, Looking at a Tuesday and you know what that means.

* It has been 21,831 days since I was born, that is 21 years using my new,  new, and improved 1,000-day Calendar. I do have to say I am starting to feel my age or older than 21.

* It has been 7,091 days since I graduated from WVU with a Degree in Geography.

* 5,679 days ago Michelle and I had our first date together, the pizza hut is gone, the movie was 10,000 BC and it sucked to high heaven.

* 4,882 days ago I proposed to Michelle in the backyard at 4:00 in the morning. Second best decision I ever made.

* It was 4,427 days ago in front of our closest friends and family, for the most part, Michelle and I became husband and wife at the Marilla Center, we poured sand into a vase and said our I do's and we were hitched.

* I have now lived 2,063 days longer than my Dad did and I'm still going strong.

* Michelle has been living a clean and productive life and beat that alcohol demon 721 days ago today. Next week she will pass her second anniversary of being alcohol free.

* My older Brother Jonathan lived 21,266 days, I've now outlived him by 588 days making me Senior Supreme Sibling once again! Sunday would have been his 61st Birthday.

* I have 3,009 days to go until I retire, give or take a few hundred days here or there, but I love doing what I do. Who knows though, doing what I do I may never retire.

* There are 340 more days until we go to Pittsburgh and beat the Panther's butts in their stadium.

* There are 327 more days to go until the Mountaineers will try to get some revenge here in Morgantown for last weekend when Penn State comes to Morgantown.

* There are 300 more days to go until Michelle and I celebrate our Thirteenth Wedding Anniversary together.

* There are only 162 days to go until the next start of my favorite Season. Spring 2024.

* 123 more days until Phil steps to center stage once again for Groundhogs Day, that's when he tells us we will have an early spring.

* 81 more days to go until my Goodbye 2023 Blog is posted, I'm just now getting started on content for that one.

* There are 76 more shopping days left until Christmas 2023. You still have plenty of time to prepare and get ready.

* There are 53 days until I hit the age of 60. Yeah I know, I'm really older than 21.

* It has been ∞ (infinity symbol) a number of days that I have hated both Pitt and Penn State.

* I have written 7,330 blogs in the now 18 1/2 years plus a couple of days of being a blogger.

* Older Drone still needs to be sent out for repairs, not a big priority at this time. My little drone is awesome and I really like it....when I take time out to fly it.

* I think I know where I want to do my next drone flight, out by the old county graveyard whenever I get to it.

* It's been about 10 weeks since the last time I had a soda. I really don't miss it.

* Thi Monopoly Go this is really growing, more and more family members and friends are playing and it's almost a competition. We saw Layla yesterday and when she saw us she smiled and said he was knocking our buildings down at the moment.

* Mountaineers are playing this week on Thursday Night, they travel to Houston to play the Cougars and our former coach.

* How about I start doing my favorite Tic Tok of the week? This is this week's Tic Tok, how could you not fall in love with little guy.

* Have a great day

Monday

All good things must come to an end, and yes that does in fact those fun-filled things that we refer to as weekends. Now it is time to take our collective noses and stick them back onto the grindstone of life and get back to doing what it is that we do that makes this a better rock to live on.

I get a houseguest today, Mom and Gerald are going to bring Lucy over around 6:00 so that I can watch her. Gerald has to have something done at the hospital and Mom is going with him to be a driver, so I get Lucy for the day. Peanut can play a game of I'm going to hide, don't try to find me.

Michelle and I finally dropped off the tea lights Terri has been wanting. We meant to take them with us Saturday and kind of forgot, so we ran than down to her yesterday. We had a case of them from Hayley's wedding that were never used, so Terri wanted 6 of them so we obliged.

Michelle is going to visit her Mom this evening, so I am on my own for dinner this evening.

Have yourselves a great day.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Kim, Amy, Terri, Michelle, Brittany
Kim, Amy, Terri, Michelle, Brittany
Here I sit on a quiet Sunday Morning, Kiwi is furious but I'll get to that later. He said no one messes with his Mommy.

The Good, we all went on the 1 mile walk yesterday (I took pictures and the girls walked) at the Amphitheater downtown, it was for Breast Cancer Survivors. Terri said next year she will be on the stage and I agree. Both Michelle and I were planning on getting our flu shots yesterday, we usually go to Sams to get them however the Health Department was giving them away for free so we both got ours. Saved us $50 we were going to spend at Sams on them.

Let's skip to the ugly. They gave away these ugly sticks or something at the walk as swag to all participants, it's supposed to beat Breast Cancer but I think Michelle and Brittany had too much fun knocking me upside the head with them. I do have their megaphones that I was supposed to watch, but I'm going to use them to yell at the Bad.

The Bad was we were trimming hedges yesterday and Michelle did what I did and took the hedge clippers and cut the power cord in two. I asked her to grab my electrical tape which she couldn't find and then I asked her to ask our neighbor if he had any. No answer to the door or so we thought. I took the tractor around back to dump some brush and when I came back around the neighbor's car was gone and Michelle was P I S S E D. They have two smaller dogs, one friendly one not so much. The one not so much bit Michelle, putting a hole in her new sweatpants and literally breaking the skin. I called the neighbor to make sure that their dog has had all of their shots and he said that his sister is a Vet and the dogs are all up to date on their rabies shots and vaccines. She treated it and it is still sore, I think what pissed Michelle off more than anything is they jumped in the car and left without really checking on her. By the time I drove back around to that side of the house after dumping brush you could just tell he was irate just by her body language. She has treated it and we are keeping an eye on it.

I did manage to find my electrical tape and fixed the cord, that's 1-1 in the battle of cutting extension cords with the hedge trimmers between me and Michelle.

Have a Great Day.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here Kiwi and I sit in a quiet household once again, we are up discussing the days events. He's looking for a new project to get associated with, he said since people build birdhouses. he's thinking about building people houses. I don't think he realizes it more than nailing 7 pieces of wood together and cutting a doorway.

So what is on today's agenda? Why it is the WVU Cancer Institute Breast Cancer Survivor Walk that is taking place this morning down on the rails to trails. It's only a 1 mile walk if anyone else is interested. I think Terri and Kim are going to join in, I'm going down to photograph if anyone else wants to join in and either watch or walk. Registration begins at 9:00 and the walk begins at 10:00 this morning for anyone interested.

WVU is off today and doesn't play until this coming Thursday Night at Houston. Houston is coached by former WVU Coach Dana Holgerson and they feature a few of our former players on their team. Should be a good game and I'll be watching for sure. I'm not making any predictions, when I do I kind of jinx my prediction. I'm Superstitious, but I really want to beat Dana.

Have yourselves a great day

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday!

Are you ready for a little bit of High School Football? Well  My  Morgantown High Mohigans will try to bounce back from their first loss of the season last Friday and travel to Fairmont to take on Fairmont Senior. University appears to be off this weekend and Clay Battelle will be hosting Meadow Bridge out in Blacksville. Good luck to all the local teams tonight, bring home a few victories.

I know tomorrow if you are not doing anything, Michelle and a few others are talking about doing the WVU Cancer Institute Breast Cancer Survivor Walk on the rails to trails. I'll be there with my Camera getting some pictures of friends and family who will be participating in this event. Michelle is also participating in the 31 Miles in 31 Days event to help raise money for Breast Cancer.

Have yourselves a great day.

This weeks pic goes back to 2017, Michelle and I had traveled up into Pennsylvania for Amanda and Joey's Wedding. We had checked into our hotel and I think this picture was taken right before we headed over to the wedding facility for the wedding.

I came back to the hotel much earlier than her as she went back and danced the night away.

Have yourselves a good day.

50 Years Ago Today

I remember it like it was just yesterday sometimes and I still feel the effects of it at times. The day of injury that took the most amount of time to recover from in my life.

I was out playing touch football with some college guys on the intramural fields where Mountainview Rehabilitation Hospital currently stands on Van Voorhis Road. It was a rainy night, but I didn't care I just loved to play ball and I was playing ball despite the rain and soaked field.

It was a play where I ran to my left and swung wide to avoid being touched and my left slipped out from under me and I ended up doing a perfect split in the mud. What had happened was I had what they called a green tree fracture on my left thigh. The college guys I was playing with put me on a ball bag and carried me across the street to where we lived (beside where starbucks is now) and put me on the couch until Dad got there and ran me to Mnn General Hospital when it was still on Van Voorhis Road.

I was fortunate, the orthopedic surgeon on duty that night was Dr Pickett, who was famous for operating on Audie Murphy a number of times. Turns out I was in the hospital for a month, in traction where a Pin was drilled through my leg for the traction. I went home and spent the next 6 weeks in a body cast similar to the one above, bit it went midway up my chest. When the body cast was removed I was at home and didn;t do any rehab and my leg locked into place which required me to go back into the hospital in traction again (just weights pulling on my leg this time) to straighten my leg out, to being put into a straight leg cast for 2 more weeks to rehabbing the range of motion in my left leg until it was usable.

Do you know what I was most upset about that night? By the time they finished with me in the emergency room and got me into a room, it was 8:30 and I missed Maude

Sunday

Here I sit on a quiet Sunday Morning, Kiwi and I are up talking about my Buckwheat Cakes lunch date with my Sister Pam. I am trying to explain Buckwheat Cakes to him, but he was more interested in talking about the Buckwheat itself and if I got him any Buckwheat seeds. The answer was no of course.

I enjoyed going to the United Methodist Church in Masontown to get Buckwheat Cakes with Pam. We had no intention of going into Kingwood during the Parade to wait in line, and the Reedsville Fire Department is doing a Kitchen Remodel so they are not serving them this year, so we went to the church and got them. I have to say that they were really good this year.

Michelle and Kim went to Village Salon Wigs and ordered Michelle's Wig that she is preparing  to wear when she cuts off all of her hair. Of course, Michelle couldn't go to the Seneca Center without a trip to the Tea Shoppe for lunch and to get some Tea for herself. Although Kim bought one I would like to try, some kind of butterscotch flavor. Michelle got a Lemon Mango Punch and I tried it last night, it was pretty good.

Michelle started a 31 Miles in October Group to help raise Money for Breast Cancer. You know, Breast Cancer Awareness Month begins today.

Oh and the West Virginia Mountaineers went on the road and beat the team that played for the National Championship last year on their field 24-21. Kiwi took over as Defensive Coordinator in the second half and pretty much shut TCU's high-powered offense down in the 2nd half. They had 1 total yar in the 3rd quarter.

Have yourselves a great day.
