Sunday

Well here I sit on an early Sunday Morning, I'm up early watching the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and collecting my thoughts on the day and surfing the World Wide Web.

Well this coming week I will be heading back to Sistersville to finish up a little field work, so I will be once again writing a few blogs ahead of time so I don't have to worry about blogging from there. At least this time I have already been to Sistersville and will know my way around the town and can be better prepared than I was last time.

I will be heading out into the field later this morning due to an interview that I have previously scheduled. I don't like to disturb people on Sunday Morning, but they are the ones who chose the time and not me.

Funny story, Michelle and I went to Sams Club yesterday to pick up a few things, Michelle saw this big caw looking two person raft that she fell in love with. She wanted to go see it, but she came back with a two person Giraffe Raft for her and her Great Nephew Johnny and her to ride together in their pool. She was so excited to find it, we had to buy it.

Have yourselves a great day today.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit on a quiet Saturday Morning, I'm the first one to recover from that knockout blow by that dreaded Sandman last night and I'm up watching Zoolander 2 on Amazon Prime and collecting my thoughts for the day.

Both Michelle and I will be heading out to work later this morning, she is going into her office and I'm going to be heading out into the field to do some field work for RTI. I did find out yesterday that I will be returning to Sistersville Monday through Wednesday again to try to work down that section of the state before I start doing some listing work in Morgantown the next week. Michelle is trying to get some end of the month stuff done and close it out.

Josh left yesterday to travel to Pennsylvania to work at another job site. He was gone for a month when he went to Ohio, and I'm sure Texas is probably still in play for them once they get the pad up and ready. He is a hard working guy and doesn't mind working long and hard to make his money.

Yesterday afternoon Michelle and I went and visited the new Sportsman's Warehouse that just recently opened up in Morgantown. I had been there last week but Michelle had not, I ended up getting a couple sets of over the ear ear protectors for when we go to any gun range to shoot. We do wear ear plugs and safety goggles, but these will add some additional protection.

Have yourselves a great day today.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes it is once again that time of the week that we all look foreword to, when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

Well I am off today from both jobs for the most part except for a meeting early this morning for RTI.

I'll be out working both days this weekend and I think Michelle is also going go into the office tomorrow to do some end of the month stuff for her job, so it's not going to be a work free weekend in our household.

Well the First Round of the NFL Draft Started last night, so far no Mountaineers have been drafted. Second and Third Rounds will be drafted this evening.

Have yourselves a great day today.

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out and look through some of the pictures that I have either taken, scanned or stolen off of the internet through the years and find one special picture that stands out. Little lost moments in time from yesterday caught with a Cameras lens and relived right here in my blog. Sometimes it's pretty easy to find that one special picture and sometimes it's not that easy, one thing it consistently is however is a whole lot of fun.

This weeks picture is a pretty special one to Michelle and I. Yes it is coming up on seven years since this fateful day that I made Michelle wait 777 days for. This was the day that I proposed marriage to Michelle and she said yes. It was much earlier in the day that I proposed, as this picture is actually at the WVU Spring Game that year, but it was later that evening. I was going to try to have it put on the big screen at the Stadium, since I knew the operator, but it would have gotten him into trouble and I didn't want to do that, so I did it in the early morning in the back yard.

Later that night after the spring game, we went to a party at Trish's house. She had a bonfire going and had invited a number of people to come over which we did.

Have yourselves a great day today.

Wednesday

It's the middle of the workweek for most of America, now all you have to do is get up and over this noon time hump and it will be all downhill as we are collectively working towards another fun filled weekend.

Not too much to talk about today, it's been a little bit boring around here to say the least. I know Chad and Hayley as well as Amy were all going to the Mall yesterday to get the MSNAP vouchers to have their animals fixed. I know they are talking about getting Maybelline (yes she was named after a womans makeup brand) fixed and Chad is going to get Ace, his dog fixed. Amy has taken in a cat that had a litter and she is going to try to get vouchers to have all the kittens fixed so it will be easier to find them good homes.

I've been out the last couple of evenings for RTI and will be off until Saturday morning when I try to close a few more lines out. I'll be going into the office tomorrow for a meeting and I'll be shutting down all of my computers that I have since there is a Government Shutdown looking Friday Night at Midnight and I'm hearing NETL is shutting down everything, computers, servers, and basically the electricity to the lab in general. We had excess money last time there was a shutdown, this time not so much and money is pretty scarce (hence my limited schedule) that the Feds are releasing.

Other than that, I hope everyone has a great day today.

Monday

It's time to stick our collective noses back on the grindstone that we know and get back to doing what it is we do for a living. Time for all the fun to stop and to get back to work for another fun filled week of working.

Our smoking yesterday went really well as we smoked Pork Ribs and Pork Belly which we will have for dinner this evening. I love the warm weather season and I swear smoking food is the absolute best way to prepare any meat, especially when it's pork.

Light schedule ahead for me this week, a couple days working for RTI and a day at NETL and that's about it unless I hear from one of the other companies that I have been speaking to outside of Morgantown. I look for something to break this week or next one way or the other. I have not been sitting idly by that is for sure.

Have yourselves a great day today and make it a productive one and one to remember.

Sunday Morning Ramblings

OK, I got to admit I was up a little later than usual last night so I pre-wrote this blog so that I could sleep in a little bit this morning and not have to worry about waking up and writing this.

We had a pretty good day yesterday, Michelle, Josh and I all went to the Gun Range yesterday afternoon so Michelle could squeeze off a few rounds of a gun I bought a few weeks back. I think she has a new favorite pistol...lol

Today we are firing up the smoker for the first time, we have a couple racks of ribs as well as a pork belly going being put on this morning before we head out to do our grocery shopping for the week. We bought the meats friday night and they are marinating right now and begging to be smoked. I can hear them yelling now, smoke me with apple wood chips please, so I have to obviously oblige them.

Have yourselves a great day today, we plan on it.

Saturday

Here I sit once again in a quiet household, I'm the first one to recover from that losing battle with the dreaded Sandman last night and I'm watching Just Married on HBO and collecting my thoughts on the day.

I'll be heading out later this morning to do a little more field work here in the Morgantown area after taking a couple of days off from that job. Shouldn't be a very busy day as I'm just trying to reach people that I have not been able to reach this month and have repeatedly tried.

We're going to put Pearl into the garage this morning to get her oil changed and to have the front brakes changed. Michelle said she is starting to hear them, so it's time to have them looked at and have a little maintenance done to our primary vehicle.

Michelle was a little sad yesterday afternoon, she watched as the took the April the Giraffe Cam offline and shut it down. She has been watching it since February pretty religiously and it was a sad moment for her when they waved goodbye and shut it down. The Zoo is going to put another cam up eventually to monitor the Giraffes outdoor activities, but it is not ready to go just yet. Michelle reminded me that it is just six hours away...lol

Have a Great Day and enjoy the weather.

Well I made it back into the office yesterday and will once again be heading there today. So I guess you can say I'm ready to start a weekend because I haven't had a day off from one job or the other for a while, although I am going out to do some more field work this weekend around town.

Sistersville was alright, but I have to admit that I was ready to come home and see Michelle. It was the first time that I had ever been there and I did get a few pictures of the town including some 360° shots that I shared on Facebook. It was a nice little town that doesn't appear to have changed much in a number of years.

Neither Michelle or I will be doing any traveling this weekend, so maybe we will get a chance to enjoy some quality time together. We've both been very busy and one of us traveling or the other we haven't had too much of a chance to spend time together. I miss my wife and need some quality time with her.

Have yourselves a great day and a better weekend.

This weeks pic goes back two years, it came onto my timeline over the weekend and I thought it was a great pic to post up.

This was our trip to Niagara Falls a couple of years ago. We took this picture across from the American side of the falls, not the horseshoe falls but the other part of it that gets a little less attention.

This was a great trip and it was both mine and Michelle's first ever trip to Canada.

Have a great day

Last Day here, I'll be coming home

As I travel to Sistersville this week to do some field work, I'm pre-writing all of my blogs for most of the week because I'm going to be occupied and may not have time to write them.

Well two days in and after I get my field work in for the day I am heading back to Morgantown this evening to see my wonderful wife whom I haven't seen too much of the last week or so. Either she has traveled or I have, but we'll be under the same roof this evening.

I'll be heading back to the office tomorrow morning as I have a few meetings scheduled for the day.

Have a great day

No Tidbits Tuesday

As I travel to Sistersville this week to do some field work, I'm pre-writing all of my blogs for most of the week because I'm going to be occupied and may not have time to write them.

No tidbits today as I am still in Sistersville working. I'll be here once again this evening before returning to Morgantown tomorrow evening. Nothing to really talk about other than I'm here.

Heading back home tomorrow.

Travel Day

As I travel to Sistersville this week to do some field work, I'm pre-writing all of my blogs for most of the week because I'm going to be occupied and may not have time to write them.

I'll be hitting the road this morning to do a little bit of field work the early part of this week. Sistersville is a couple of hours away and this is where I will be working for a few days this week. I'll be staying at the historic Wells Inn for a couple of days, hopefully it will be a much better experience than when I traveled to Paw Paw a couple of months ago to work. That hotel was a little less than desirable and I didn't care for it.

I can say I don't think I have ever been to Sistersville and I'm eager to get the chance to see that part of the state. Hopefully the room has a fridge and a microwave as there doesn't appear to be too many places to eat there. Even the restaurant in the hotel doesn't open till later.

Have a great day. Hi hi hi ho

Happy Easter

Here I sit in a quiet household, I'm the first one to awaken from that dreaded Sandman battle last night and I'm up collecting my thoughts for the day yet once again.

I would like to wish everyone a very Happy Easter today, Michelle and Chad are up at Jon and Laura's, Josh I think is going to leave to go to Ohio to visit his Grandfather either today or tomorrow and Hayley has to work today. We're all kind of spread out for the day.

I'll be staying here doing some studying to do some listing and preparing to head to Sistersville tomorrow.

There was big news yesterday, April the Giraffe has finally given birth to a Baby Boy Giraffe. The new born and his Mother are doing fine, I know when she started to give birth, that the cam had in excess of over 930,000 viewers and I'm sure that number probably topped a Million as I had to leave to work prior to the baby being completely delivered. I know Michelle has been watching this for months and she was so excited when it all started, we went grocery shopping yesterday morning and she is walking around watching it the entire time.

I hope everyone has a very Happy Easter today.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Up up early once again, I'm up watching something on HBO and collecting my thoughts for the day. I'm the first one up as Josh is sleeping and Michelle was up last night watching the Owls that have taken up residence beside the house.

We're planning on getting out early today to do our grocery shopping. We want an early start so that I can get out in the field and do some field work and Michelle can finish up what she needs to do before she heads to Ellwood City later today to go to Jon and Laura's for Easter Dinner tomorrow. She's going up and helping Laura for tomorrow and already has a bunch of eggs boiled so that the kids can color them later today.

I'll be here all weekend as I'll be working today as well as doing some studying to do some listing work for RTI. Tomorrow I'll start packing for my travels early next week to Sistersville. I'll write all my blogs until I get back so that I don't have to worry too much about that as I'm gone.

I did go back to my office yesterday to do some database work, it did feel good to actually get back into the office environment for the day, I'll be going back in for a couple of days once I get back from Sistersville for some meetings that I have scheduled.

Have yourselves a great day today.

Big Ole Hairy Good Friday

Yes it is once again that time of the week that we all look foreword to, when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

Well I have a change of plans for this upcoming weekend. Chad wanted to go to Elwood City (Jon and Laura's) a day early and Michelle can give Laura a hand in preparing the Easter Dinner on Saturday evening and Sunday morning, so they are leaving to go up tomorrow and I'll remain in Morgantown for the weekend to work tomorrow and use Sunday to prepare to head to Sistersville to work for a few days.

We were going to go up and come back on Sunday, but this gives them another chance to visit and gives me a chance to some training for RTI for some additional work that I am picking up. I'm going to be doing some listing work to go along with my field work, so I will be busy for the next week or so. I'll be heading back into NETL for a couple of days next week for some meetings and to work on the project I still have partially funded.

Josh is back and Hayley will also be here this weekend as she has to work as well. Josh had been gone almost a month working in Ohio, so he is due for a little bit of time off.

Have yourselves a great day today, make the very most of it.

This weeks picture goes back a year or two, back to a time when Michelle and I were just just a few months into dating and we were the adventurist types that went out Geocaching more often than we currently do.

This weeks pic is of me and two very lovely ladies that I had taken to Black Water Falls for the day. We had had a picnic and then took a little bit of time to walk down to the falls for a photo opportunity. There was a lady there that had volunteered to use my camera and take this magical picture for us.

We had also stopped at smallest church and the smallest post office in the country as well, where we stopped and got a memories to keep.

Hump Day

Well it is actually a day off for me, but for the rest of everyone it's the day where you get up and over this noon time hump and start working towards another fun filled weekend.

I realized yesterday that I kind of screwed up last week on something. I bought the domain name HallGeospatialServives as I am starting to potentially set up for opening up my own company, but that is all still in the planning stages. When I did that I somehow changed my password from my domain's e-mail preventing my GMAIL, which I use as a catch all, to not be able to retrieve anything. 200+ emails I missed and in the job hunt I was actually starting to feel a little down, until I realized what I did and saw that all my emails were on my other server.

I did find out yesterday that I will be traveling for RTI next week, I'll be heading to Sistersville to work the first part of next week. I've worked my areas pretty much down and they want me to start a new section to get it off of the books.

Have yourselves a great day.

Monday

All good things must come to an end, and that does in fact include those fun filled things that are referred to as weekends. Now it's time to stick our collective noses back on to the grindstone and get back to doing what it is we do for a living.

Well April the Giraffe still hasn't popped. Her and Oliver have been expecting a 6' 4 legged bundle of joy for some time now, but in the past few months they have generated all kinds of revenue for the care and upkeep of these two. Amazingly through their GoFundMe account they have raised over $120,000 for the cause and that isn't including what they have generated in any kinds of sales or subscriptions. Pretty amazing and she works for carrots...lol

This coming Sunday is Easter and Michelle and I are planning on going to Elwood City to spend Easter Dinner with her family. The past couple of years we have had Easter Dinner here, but we're going to hit the road and head north this year. I haven't heard any plans from anyone from my side of the family, not that we all get together on Easter Sunday anymore, so I would assume everyone is going to do their own family unit kind of thing this year.

Have yourselves a great day today

Sunday

Here I sit once again in a quiet household. the Sandman's effects have worn off and I'm up early watching who knows what on HBO and collecting my thoughts for the day.

Well Michelle corrected me, Jon and Laura live in Ellwood City and no longer live in Monaca. It was a brain fart on my part, I knew but it kind of slipped my mind. Talking to her after she got home last night she said that she and Chad had a great time and that Maddy's birthday party was a big success. We will both be heading up there on this coming Sunday for Easter.

My day today will be once again heading out to do some field work, I'll be out this afternoon working my way through a second area for this quarter. I got a good start yesterday, but it may take another day or two to get through all the lines for the first time.

We'll be doing our normal Sunday routine today, heading out to WalMart to do our grocery shopping and then over the Phoenix Bakery for some fresh artisan bread.

Have yourselves a great Sunday and make the very most of it.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit in a quiet and empty household, Hayley is out and Michelle is in Monaca, I'm up a little early watching something about Mary on HBO and collecting my thoughts for the day.

There was a semi-surprise 50th Birthday Party for my sister Terri yesterday evening at Whitetail Crossing. The family and a number of her friends all gathered around to help Terri enter the world of AARP eligibility.

Michelle and Chad are in Monaca for Maddy's First Birthday Party this afternoon. Jon and Laura put on big birthday parties for their kids and it's a big family affair. She went up last night to help them decorate and set up for today's festivities.

I'll be out in the field this morning doing a little bit of field work for RTI. I'm starting another section this morning and I got confirmation yesterday that everyone has received my lead letters that I sent out on Monday so I'm good to go on starting that section. I've had a great deal more success this year than I had last year working these same areas, so that is encouraging.

Have yourselves a great day today and make the very most of it.

Happy 50th Birthday Terri Beth Rehmani

I would like to take this opportunity to wish my Sister a very happy 50th Birthday today. She is entering that special age when you are available for AARP discounts and all kinds of other good things associated with being a half centurion.

Terri is a remarkable person and been very inspirational to me and has helped pick my up at the lowest point of my life. She picked me up, dusted me off and said go make a difference in this world and I am very grateful to her for that opportunity.

I'm not sure what Nick or anyone has anything planned for Terri today, or at least I'll plead the fifth until this evening should I say, but what ever it is it is going to be very special.

If you happen to see Terri today, make sure you take a little bit of time out and wish her a very Happy 50th Birthday today.

Happy Birthday Terri.

Well I will once again be working this weekend, I'm still out doing field work for RTI and will be doing so all weekend.

Michelle and Chad however will be heading north this afternoon to Monaca for the weekend, Maddy's first birthday is tomorrow and they are going up early to help set of for the party. Chad is going to go up with her to keep her company.

Hayley started a new job yesterday, she is working at the Boston Beanery up on 119. She wants to try her hand at being a waitress as she has some friends who are making real nice money in tips. She has the personality for it, I think she can do well at it.

Have yourselves a great day.

This weeks picture goes back to the early 2000's, there was a big family picnic at Krepps Park that Jean and Mick put together. This picture is of the my brother in law George, aka the grillmaster, cooking all of the chicken on Mick's home made grill that he had. I guess the fire got a little hot so Mick sat there with two water bottles constantly squirting the coals to keep the temperature down.

We did two or three of these picnics at Krepp's Park during those years, we used to use the upper part of the park above the pool and Jean just sent me there in the early morning with a few coolers to grab a few tables and sit on them so as to make sure that they were ours.

Have a great day.

The I Forgot Blog

If it were not for my lovely wife reminding me that I didn't write a blog for today, this blog would not have been written.

I've had a number of things on my mind the last few days and forgot the write a blog for today. I guess you can say I kind of dropped the ball on this one. I've been pre-occupied doing field work and throwing my resume out there trying to find another job.

I've lost track of how many resumes I have submitted since Friday, but rest assured I have put in a umber of them trying to find something. I have not discounted the possibility of going out on my own and starting my own company yet, but I would need a market and some guaranteed revenue before I would go out and do that.

Have a great day today.

Tuesday's Tidbits

* Well Monday is now pat us and we are staring straight down the barrel of a Tuesday, time for a tidbits.

* I know you guys have missed this count, it has been 19,483 wonderful days since my birth, I sometimes feel older than 21.

* There have been 4,706 days that have gone by since I Graduated from WVU, second best decision I have ever made in my life.

* It was 3,307 days ago that Michelle and I went out on our very first date together, it's amazing how far we have both come since that first fateful night.

* It has been 2,531 days since I proposed marriage to a very wonderful woman, did it at 4:00 AM out on the back yard.

* We are in day 2,068 of Marriage, she must like me as she has kept me around.

* I have about 5,354 or so days to go until my retirement giving the current rules for retirement give or take a few hundred here or there and depending on how I feel.

* There are only 1,992 days to go until the Backyard Brawl in football takes the field once again. I want to kick some Panther butt!!!!!

* My buddy Phil the Groundhog takes center stage in 304 more days when he forecasts the weather on Ground Hogs Day. I think Mother Nature however is inserting her will as we speak.

* I have 271 more days to go until my Goodbye 2017 blog is written. That is the blog that I do at the end of the year that is based upon what I write here on this blog.

* There are 265 more shopping days left to go until Christmas 2017, never too early to start planning.

* There are but a mere 241 more days to go until I celebrate yet another anniversary of my 21st Birthday, or something close to that. I think my ages rounds out to about 21.

* There are 186 more days to go until we once again attend the Springs Festival, weather permitting of course.

* Our next cruise is 159 days away, we just booked our hotel for the trip.

* There are only 124 more days to go until Michelle and I celebrate our Sixth Wedding Anniversary together.

* In 107 more days Michelle and I will be attending WV Mountainfest. Already have our tickets for this years events. Going to go see George Thorogood and maybe even Hank Williams Jr.

* There are 89 more days to go until our 2017 Friends and Family Picnic.

* There are 81 more days to go until Calvin and Jeanetta's Wedding next June, I really need to get my RSVP in and book our hotel for that. Their very informative website.

* It's just a mere 78 days away when Summer 2017 arrives.

* This is my 4,813th blog that I have written for George's Journal in the now 12 1/2 +  years that I have been writing it. That is a lot of thoughts, a lot of history and a lot of me.

* No work yest this year on the Hall Family Tree. This has not been a productive year for it at all on my end.

* Once again nothing new on the brother search, I am keeping the hope and faith, but I'm not finding the first trace of his existence anywhere.

* Still no baby yet on the Giraffe Cam, I know Michelle has been eagerly awaiting its arrival. I still think April is lying to Oliver to keep him, she's not pregnant.

* We have set the dates for our 35th High School Class reunion, it will be July 28th and 29th of this year.

Monday

Well all good things must come to an end, and that includes the fun filled things we refer to as weekend. Now it's time for everyone to stick their collective noses back on the grindstone.

For me, I'll be out doing field work for RTI, my time at NETL seems to potentially be coming to an end. Funding is the biggest issue that I have experienced in the nearly 9 years that I have been there, so much so that for me it is less than 10% of my time that is covered. Yes I am putting my resume out there to other companies around the area, just wish me luck and hope it all works out for the best.

I was going to say something on Saturday, as I found out Friday afternoon, but Saturday was April Fools Day and something tells me no one would have believed me. I've had a great time at NETL and I've worked for the best boss anyone could ever want to work for and hopefully something breaks, but unfortunately this just may be it for me.

Have yourselves a great day.

Sunday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit yet once again in a quiet household, I'm up early watching Any Given Sunday on HBO and collecting my thoughts for the day.

This afternoon if you have some spare time and want to help out a very good cause, the Johnny Koon Bowl a Thon will be held today from 3PM-5PM at Suburban Lanes here in Morgantown. Bowling is $2.00 a game and show rental is free. All the proceeds will go to the Johnny Koon Brain Tumor Research Fund at WVU Medicine.

I will most likely be out in the field working for RTI, but I think Michelle is going to try to make it over to the Bowl A Thon since I may not be able to make it. If I can make it, I will try to stop by since I will be working in the area this afternoon.

Have yourselves a great day today and make the very most of it.

April has Given Birth

Well after all of this waiting and everyone around watching her every move, April the Giraffe has finally given birth.

April, Oliver and the baby are doing fine and the zookeepers have already given the young giraffe a new name to go along with it's mother.

The Baby Giraffe has been named Fools.

Have a great day.
