Happy Halloween

Here I sit on a quiet Halloween Morning, all the ghouls and ghosts are ready to make their yearly appearance this evening to seek their candied treasures. Chocolates, candy bars, and other sweets are what they will come seeking.

Speaking of Halloween, I think Michelle is planning on going over to her Sister Chris's this evening to hand out candy. I know it is something that she loves to do and loves to interact with all the kids. We actually had our first Trick or Treater last night when Bethany brought Helena over. She got a Kit Kat, I got a Reece Cup, I thought that more than a fair trade.

Make sure that you set your clocks back one hour tonight before going to bed because tonight ends Daylight Savings Time. The good news is this is the clock change where you actually get an extra hour of sleep as opposed to losing one this on March 14, 2021 when it all starts again.

I do believe that today is the last day of early voting here in West Virginia, I'm not sure about other places but with the General Election on Tuesday, I would imagine today may be the last day for all places but that is nothing but a sheer guess on my part, I could be wrong. So far almost 88 Million People have already cast their votes.

It was a good evening of High School Football once again for 75% of the Monongalia County Teams. Trinity won, Clay Battelle won and Morgantown beat the University High Hawks 69-15 and the game really wasn't even that close. New Morgantown High Coach Sean Biser has installed an offense that is starting to look pretty lethal, kind of like the Mohigans of 20 years ago, but time will tell when they get to the playoffs.

There is some college football in town today as 16th Ranked Kansas State comes to Morgantown to take on the Mountaineers. Too many mental errors and stupid mistakes cost the Mountaineers last week at Texas Tech, let's see if they have all that worked out today.

Have yourselves a great day and protect yourselves from all the ghouls and goblins this evening by making sure you have plenty of candied treats to sacrifice to them.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

Are you looking for a little bit of High School Football this evening? Well I will say this is the time of year that those of us locals who like High School Football look forward to, it's that time of the year when the County's two largest schools prepare to do battle in the Mohawk Bowl. I'm not even going to try to be fair, I'm saying Morgantown High Mohigans will pout a butt whipping to those University High Hawks. Clay Battelle travels to Montcalm and Trinity is at home playing Steubenville Catholic (OH) Good luck to 3 of the 4 Monongalia County Teams, I'm excluding you University High, Mohigans all the way.

WVU is at home tomorrow to take on Kansas State at noon. The Mountaineers are trying to bounce back from last weeks setback and Kansas State will be trying to get revenge for last season's loss to the Mountaineers.

I did get Pearl back on Wednesday, had to have the clutch replaced as well as a brake cable that was really saturated. Took it to Hartsell's Exxon on Univerity Avenue. I've known Brian since we were in High School and he is one of the most upfront and honest guys you will ever meet. I actually have him a Yelp and a Google Review for their services. Highly recommended.

Have yourselves a great day today, make it a good start to the weekend, Go Mohigans beat them Hawks.

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out, time to look at some of the 30,000+ images that I have either captured with a Camera, Scanned or just simply stolen off the internet. Little lost moments in time that I post up and relive tight here for everyone while I try to recall the moments around that image. Sometimes it's pretty easy to find that image and sometimes it's a challenge, although one thing it always is is a whole lot of fun for me.

This week's pic goes back over a decade believe it or not, back to the year 2010, and Michelle and I were still dating but had moved in together already. Our lovely daughter Hayley was preparing for I believe it to be her Junior Prom when this picture was taken.

It's hard to believe that this time next year she will be Mrs.Tyler Ash as she and Tyler and of course, Luke are all getting married next Summer. Luke of course will be the HKIC (Head Kid In Charge) in this marriage, but don't tell anyone.

It has been my esteem honor to watch this young lady grow up the last 11 or so years.

Have yourselves a great day.

Tuesday's Tidbits

* Monday complete, Pearl is getting a new clutch today, so I can't think of a better reason to do a tidbits.

* It has been 20,792 days since I first entered this world as we know it. I've enjoyed them all to some extent to this point.

* It has been 6,008 days since I graduated from WVU with a Degree in Geography. I also have two minors, one in Communications and one in History.

* 4,609 days ago Michelle and I had our first date together, seems like just yesterday. Sad thing is the Pizza Hut we went to on Patteson Drive is now gone.

* 3,833 days ago I proposed to Michelle, 4:00 in the morning in the back yard. Best decision I have ever made.

* It was 3,370 days ago in front of our closest friends and family, Michelle and I became husband and wife and then feasted with all of our guests.

* I have now lived 996 days longer than my Dad did and I'm still going strong. Coming on 1,000 days in the near future.

* I have 4,109 days to go until I retire, give or take a few hundred days here or there.

* The next Backyard Brawl where we beat Pitt's ass in Football is only 674 days away. Beat some Panther Butt.

* There are 283 days until Michelle and I head to Pittsburgh to see Reba in concert. It was postponed this March to July and now they are pushing the tour until next year. It'll be mine and Michelle's 10th wedding anniversary.

* There are 283 more days to go until Michelle and I celebrate our Tenth  Wedding Anniversary together. =)

* There are only 144 days until the start Spring 2021!!!!! Kiwi will appreciate it as the weather is starting to cool down.

* 98 more days until Phil steps to center stage again for Groundhogs Day. He's been getting fat all summer from Michelle putting corn on the bench all summer, now he is making himself a little more scarce.

* There are 60 more shopping days left until Christmas 2020.

* The next Anniversary of my 21st Birthday will be in 35 more days.

* I have written 6,196 blogs in the now 16+ years since I started blogging.

* Pearl goes in to have a new clutch installed today, just had to put a new dual exhaust on a couple of months ago.

* Early voting is seeing a lot of people show up to the polls and vote, in record numbers for early voters.

* My Mom says she is going to work the polls this election, not sure if she is just working election day or any of the early voting days.

* Michelle is a little under the weather, we have both already had our flu shots and I know that takes a couple of weeks to get into your system properly.

* George's Journal Officially voted for Joe Biden.

* The Pittsburgh Steelers at 6-0 are the only undefeated team left in the NFL.

* Corona Virus, you can still track it but it's losing it's steam a little.

* We're now Green for COVID for Monongalia County, track the state stats HERE. That means High School Football this weekend.

* I'm STILL converting some old VHS tapes to Digital Format for Trish. I really need to get back on this as I am such a procrastinator.

* Have yourselves a great day, do something to make it memorable.

Monday

All good things must come to an end, which includes those fun-filled things that we refer to as weekends. Now it's time to take everyone's collective noses and stick them back onto the grindstone for another fun-filled week of doing what we do for a living.

The Pittsburgh Steelers did it, they managed to run their season record to 6-0 as they defeated the other previously undefeated AFC team the Tennessee Titans yesterday 27-24. I can't say that although we dominated the first half, that I didn't think we were going to lose late in the game. Tennesee missed a game-tying field goal late in the game preserving the win for the Steelers.

Yesterday we went to Washington PA to help Michelle's nephew celebrate his 40th Birthday. We all met at a restaurant called Pig Fire BBQ for dinner and I have to say that their food was quite awesome. I was really impressed with what I had as was Michelle. It was nice to see everyone together for the first time in a long while.

Agenda for this week, I'm sticking Pearl in the garage either this evening or tomorrow morning as she is needed a new clutch installed. It's slipping going up hills and I figured it's just a matter of time so I'll get it taken care of now rather than waiting until later.

Have yourselves a great start to another week.

Sunday

Here I sit yet once again in a quiet household, Sophie and I are up watching a little bit of the TV and collecting our thoughts for the day.

Watched the Mountaineers yesterday as they lost 34-27 to Texas Tech in Lubbock last night. I have to say that I am very disappointed not in the fact that we lost, but how undisciplined and how unprepared we looked last night. Example we come out to start a drive after a Texas Tech Kickoff that was just downed in the End Zone. They somehow managed to get a delay of game penalty which is not the first time this has happened. So now it's 1st and 15 rather than 1st and 10 (and I recall we gained 11 yards on that series) and ended up having to punt the ball away. That was just one example, heck we got a 15 yards unsportsmanlike penalty for a player that had already been kicked out of the game earlier running onto the field. It's just getting frustrating and I don't see another win on the schedule this season.

On to today, our plans are grocery shopping and doing a few chores around the house and then later this afternoon heading up to Washington PA to have dinner with Michelle's Nephew for his 40th birthday.

Also on today's agenda and I'm afraid I might be jinxing them the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers travel to take on the undefeated Tennessee Titans. Every time I am with Michelle's sister Chris, the Steelers somehow manage to lose. The two teams battle at 1:00 this afternoon.

Have yourselves a great day.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit once again in a quiet household, I'm up watching who knows what and collecting my thoughts for the day. Peanut's agent Kiwi still has her holding out for contract negotiations despite being outside the last three days. I'm sitting here flying solo without my co-author and trying to wake up for the day.

Michelle and I both did our civic duty yesterday, rather than waiting for the 2020 General Election day of voting on November 3, we decided to to go ahead to one of the early polling places (The alumni center for us) and cast our votes for the 2020 General Election. Nationwide so far and we are 10 days before the general election, there have been 54,246,796 people vote early or by absentee as of press time. How does that compare to early voting in the 2016 election? With 10 more days to go until election day, there have been 7,231,200 more people vote early this election than 2016. Michelle and I are included in that number and I know a number of family members from both sides of the family have also done so. Below is a portion of a spreadsheet I have tracking early voters compared to 2016 based on the totals from 2016 overall number of voters.

Based on 2016 Overall Voters

It was a good day for Monongalia County Football Teams last night, all 4 teams managed to end the evening with a win and that's the first time I can actually recall that happening in some time. Congratulations to all Mon County Teams.

The Mountaineers travel to Texas today to take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders this evening at 5:30. Texas Tech who was an underdog last year put an unexpected whooping on us and Neal Brown and crew will be trying to return the favor this evening. The game will be broadcast on ESPN 2.

Have yourselves a great day.

The Mohigans got their first win of the season last week and will try to extend that streak to two games as they play host to Linsly this evening. University High is also at home as they take on neighboring Preston. Clay Battelle is also at home tonight playing Conotton Valley (OH) and Trinity is the only Monongalia County team on the road this evening when they travel to play Beallsville, Oh. Good luck to all of the local teams this evening.

The Mountaineers are also playing this weekend as they travel to Texas Tech to take on the Red Raiders. The game starts tomorrow afternoon at 5:30 and will be on ESPN 2 for anyone who wants to tune in and watch. The Mountaineers are 3-1 on the season and look to avenge last seasons shellacking they took at the hands of Texas Tech here in Morgantown.

Have yourselves a great day today, make it a good start to the weekend.

Sometimes it's pretty easy to find that image and sometimes it's a challenge, although one thing it always is is a whole lot of fun for me.

Let's see, this picture goes all the way back the November of 1984, it is a first birthday party for my niece Val. I came across this as I was looking through a bunch of obscure folders of pictures that I had. Terri had had her birthday party at her Apartment and we were all there to celebrate.

Truth be told, this is close to the time when I actually turned 21 years old, for the first time. No anniversaries or shaving one or two years off of my age, I was about to 21 around the time of this picture.

Have yourselves a great day.

Another Week

Here we are once again, another week to start doing what we all do for a living, it's time to put those collective noses back onto the grindstone for another week of changing the world with what you all do.

Looking at my schedule for the week it's still wide open with nothing planned for me this week, I know Michelle has another surgery follow up later this week from her wrist surgery a couple of months ago. She also has her therapy a couple of times this week to continue to rehab her wrist.

Not this week, but next Tuesday I have Pearl Scheduled to go into the garage once again. A couple of months ago she needed a new dual exhaust, now the clutch is starting to slip and I'm going to have a new clutch stuck in. I've assisted in changing one clutch years ago with my brother in law George, but I don't have space, jacks, or patience to replace it so I stopped in and scheduled it with Brian from Hartsell's Exxon.

I did have a pretty good sports weekend believe it or not. Morgantown had a convincing win Friday night, the Mountaineers looked real good in their win Saturday and the Steelers managed to beat the Cleveland Browns yesterday. Pretty good sports weekend to say the least.

Have yourselves a great day, do something that makes this world a better place today.

Sunday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit on a quiet Sunday morning, I'm sitting here watching the Big Year on HBO and collecting my thoughts for the day. Peanut is still on her labor strike and is not going to help me write this, despite sucking up to me all day yesterday since Michelle was up North for the day.

Nothing out of the ordinary today, just our typical Sunday morning routine of going grocery shopping and doing a number of weekly chores around the house. Same things we do every Sunday morning and maybe this afternoon we'll watch the Pittsburgh Steelers as they take on the Brown's at 1:00, a game that should be competitive and interesting.

As far as the County COVID map, Monongalia County is once again in the green which means the school systems will be running normal this week. I do have to say that with the bars re-opening last week and WVU allowing some fans yesterday that the concern for another spike is a possibility. Everyone else around the countries numbers are increasing, that the fear of this once again taking off and spiking is a genuine concern.

Have yourselves a great day today, watch some football and stay warm.

Saturday, October 17, 2020

It's Gameday

Here I sit once again in a quiet Household, Peanut my co-author is running around but refuses to give any input this morning. She is holding out on contract negotiations, something about not enough outside time so and her agent Kiwi says she won't co-author any blogs until her demands are met.

It's finally happened, there is going to be a Mountaineer Football game today and they are actually going to let some fans into the stands for the first time this season. I think the number I am hearing is 25% capacity or about 15,000 fans with I'm hearing 2,000 of those going to students. There is no tailgating allowed in any of the WVU lots, so I can see the local week by week lot owners making some money today if they allow tailgating.

The 2-1 Mountaineers will be taking on the 0-3 Kansas Jayhawks today at noon. Kansas's Coach, the legendary Les Miles, has tested Positive for COVID and has not traveled with the team. Les Miles people may remember from the Rich Rodrigues era, was Michigan's top choice for a coach, it was after he turned them down that Rich worked out some kind of negotiation with them to be their next coach.

The game is at noon today on I think FS1, and we are the only Big XII game being played today. The only other game scheduled was Oklahoma State playing Baylor but that game has been postponed and moved to December 12 due to COVID.

Michelle is up north at a hotel with her two sisters, she is attending a baby shower this afternoon and they all went up and had themselves a little bit of a slumber party before today's party. I know they were planning on stopping and seeing their Grandmother yesterday afternoon and had to schedule an appointment to do that.

Have yourselves a great day, enjoy some football.

First off Congratulations to my Softball team, I've played Softball at BOPARC for over 30+ years, had some great teams, been then top-ranked teams numerous times through the years going into the post-season, but have never won the post-season Championship. This season due to COVID and just getting older, I didn't play this year although I was still on the roster. Well that group of guys did it without me, they won the post-season Championship Wednesday Night and delivered a nice piece of hardware to Ron and Darabeth our sponsors. Congratulations guys.

Are you looking for a little bit of High School Football this evening? Undefeated University High is at home hosting Wheeling Park this evening. The winless Morgantown High Mohigans are on the road trying to get their first win of the season against Parkersburg South. Clay Battelle is at home hosting Cameron. Trinity is at home hosting Valley Whetzel this evening. Only my Mohigans are traveling this evening.

College Football, the Mountaineers are at home tomorrow and hosting the University of Kansas. This will be the first game this season where they will let fans into the game, but only at 25% capacity or about 15,000 fans.

Michelle is heading back home with her sister this evening for a Baby Shower, they will be staying overnight and coming back tomorrow evening. I will once again be flying solo this evening.

Have a great day.

Happy Birthday Brittany Dae Cummings

I would love to take this time out to wish my beautiful niece Brittany a very Happy Birthday today.

It seems like it was only yesterday that she was born, it's amazing how 30 years can go by in the very blink of an eye. It seems like just yesterday I was in the waiting room watching Who's the Boss and Kim and ED was in the delivery room waiting for this bundle of joy. The amazing thing about all of this is that this remarkable young lady is now nine years older than me.

She is an amazing young woman, I know Michelle had a great trip with her last week on the girls trip to Canaan as they all sat around and laughed and had a great time.

If you get a chance to see or talk to this marvelous young lady today, make sure that you take a little bit of time out and wish her the Happiest of Birthdays today.

Happy Birthday Brittany.

Going to change it up a little this week, since I did a video of my Dad feeding ducks in Florida yesterday, for today I thought I turn the clock back 30+ years and post the video of an old cookout we once had at Marilla Park. Back to a day when Food Fights and water battles were the normal for this family get together.

Have yourselves a great day.

Lather, Rinse, Re-Monday

Alright all of you working stiffs of the world, I'll tell you what I'm going to do for you. How about by my authority at George's Journal I extend your weekend one more day. Let's even make it a Federal Holiday, we'll call it Columbus Day and you can take the day off with pay in many cases. Just because I like you.

The girls all made it back from their extended weekend yesterday, and believe it or not they did in fact meet my 100 Photograph Challenge and there may be more coming when Amy gets her pictures off of her camera. Talking to Kim, Brittany and Michelle yesterday, they all seemed like everyone had a really good and memorable time, which kind of warms my heart.

My agenda for this week is a trip to go listing one day this week, it will be in Wood County around Parkersburg, so there are 100+ miles of travel each way if I do it all in one day, then if I stay there is the per diem money, I'm going to try to do it all in one day...hopefully. I'll start setting the segment up today so that it goes pretty smoothly for me.

For those of you with the day off, enjoy your extended weekend, and for those of you working stick those noses back to the grindstone.

Have a Great Day!!!....Steelers are 4-0

Sunday Early Sunday

Here I sit in the early Sunday Morning, I've actually yet to fall asleep yet and still up believe it or not. The household is still quiet and both cats are running around doing something or another. I'm streaming a Harold and Jumar movie and trying to get tired enough to fall asleep.

Insomnia is not a problem I experience, I can usually fall asleep pretty much as soon as my head hits the pillow. Michelle is amazed that I can, but this is one evening where that didn't happen. I did watch the Ole Miss vs Alabama game and did get into that, so that is part of the problem. I did sleep like a baby last night, so I guess this evens it out a little.

Later this morning I'll run out and do the shopping for the week and then come home and get the chores done. Michelle and crew won't be back till probably this afternoon and I should have everything done by then. I think they have all had a good time, almost call it a great time from the Facebook live feed that Val put up of Amy trying to scare people.

Have yourselves a great Sunday, I'm going to try to get some sleep before I have to start my day.

Saturday

Here I sit once again in a truly quiet household, Michelle is off on her Girl's trip and I have no idea where my co-author has been hiding this morning. I'm out here watching the end of Bull Durham and catching my thoughts for the day. I did find this cute little riddle, can you solve it?

Well the Mountaineers are off today, so it's hard to say what game I will actually watch today if any. This should be the last Bye week for the Mountaineers and the Steelers had their lone bye week last week due to the Titans getting infected with COVID. Any open weeks for either the Mountaineers or Steelers after today will be due to the COVID Virus and not because it was pre-determined in the schedule.

I did get a package from RTI yesterday, I have to do one more listing and it could be a day trip or an overnighter, depending on how things go. It's in the western part of the middle of the state so to speak, so it all depends on how the day goes as to whether I stay or return that evening. This is the last segment that we will need to list as it is the last one for our area that has been released to list. They were going to assign it to someone closer a few weeks ago, but I guess that never came to fruition.

Kiwi enjoyed himself an outside kind of day yesterday, the weather was warmer and he said, hey Dad, I want to go outside so I kindly obliged and took him out. He enjoys his outside friends just as much as his looping electronic indoor ones

Have yourselves a great day today, if you haven't figured out the riddle yet just leave a comment and I'll help.

University High plays host to the #1 ranked AAA team in the state when they play host to Jefferson this evening. The Mighty Mohigans are on the road and will play Wheeling Park this evening in Wheeling. The Mohigans are looking for their first win of the season after losing last week to Musselman. Clay Battelle will finally try to start their season this year as they travel to Valley (Wetzel) to play. I'm not seeing where Trinity is scheduled to play this week.

The Mountaineers are off this week and will return to action next Saturday against Kansas at home. That means there might not be a while lot of football that intrigues me this weekend, I may find a game to watch or play in the background, but nothing I'm getting excited for. I'm a Mountaineer fan through and through and they are who I want to see play. This will be the last weekend we have a bye week, provided the Corona Virus doesn't dictate the season the rest of the way.

Heard from Michelle last night when they got to the cabin, hopefully they are having themselves a good ole time.

Have yourselves a great day today, make it a good start to the weekend.

This weeks picture goes back to a big day in my life, it was May 16, 2004, the day I graduated from WVU. There were 3 of them that day that I was involved with, one in the morning when I did my walk. A University wide one in the afternoon and then one for my college where you got your degree. This is a picture of me right after I received my degree. The cord around my neck was because I was a member of Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society.

It was a magical and memorable day for me to say the least.

Have yourselves a great day, the sisters and Michelle are heading to Canaan today.

RIP Eddie Van Halen

Yesterday I learned that part of my youth died, one of my two favorite bands (Boston being the other) of all time lost the key element and the driving force of the band. RIP Eddie Van Halen

Tuesday's Tidbits

* Monday is now complete, and Peanut my Co-Author is here to help me write this blog, good reason to do a tidbits.

* It has been 20,771 days since I first entered this world as we know it. Each and every one has presented it's own unique challenge.

* It has been 5,987 days since I graduated from WVU with a Degree in Geography. I also have two minors, one in Communications and one in History.

* 4,588 days ago Michelle and I had our first date together, seems like just yesterday.

* 3,812 days ago I proposed to Michelle, 4:00 in the morning in the back yard. Best decision I have ever made.

* It was 3,349 days ago in front of our closest friends and family, Michelle and I tied and we partied down.

* I have now lived 975 days longer than my Dad did and I'm still going strong. Coming on 1,000 days in the near future.

* I have 4,130 days to go until I retire, give or take a few hundred days here or there.

* The next Backyard Brawl where we beat Pitt's ass in Football is only 695 days away.

* There are 304 days until Michelle and I head to Pittsburgh to see Reba in concert. It was postponed this March to July and now they are pushing the tour until next year. It'll be mine and Michelle's 10th wedding anniversary.

* There are 304 more days to go until Michelle and I celebrate our Tenth  Wedding Anniversary together. =)

* There are only 165 days until the start Spring 2021!!!!! Kiwi will appreciate it as the weather is starting to cool down.

* 119 more days until Phil steps to center stage again for Groundhogs Day. He's been getting fat all summer from Michelle putting corn on the bench all summer, now he is making himself a little more scarce.

* 86 more days to go until my Goodbye 2020 Blog is posted, this should be an interesting one.

* There are 80 more shopping days left until Christmas 2020.

* My next Anniversary of my 21st Birthday will be in 56 more days.

* I have written 6,174 blogs in the now 16+ years since I started blogging.

* No drone flights this weekend, but that has pretty much been my recurring theme this year with that. I have yet to fly this year.

* The girls are just a couple of days away from their extended girls trip weekend to Canaan. They have a really nice place that they will be staying at.

* REMINDER: For the girls and their extended weekend, George's Journal Officially challenges the group to form a Facebook Album and post a minimum of 100 pictures from their weekend. Pay attention Brittany, you are my champion to this challenge.

* The Vice Presidential Debate will be tomorrow night at 9:00 EST, I've always enjoyed the debates and even the VP debates have been memorable on occasion. I think Kamala is going to kick butt.

* George's Journal Officially endorses Joe Biden for the 46th President of the United States.

* Hi ho hi ho.

Monday

All good things must come to an unfortunate end, and that does include those fun filled things that we like to refer to as weekends. Now it is time to stick our collective noses back onto the grindstone for another fun filled week of doing what it is that we do for a living.

Michelle is going to have a short work week, she'll be working until Wednesday and then her and a couple of my sisters and three nieces will be heading to Canaan for an extended girls weekend get away. I know Michelle is excited for it and is ready to get away, I think they are all going to have a great time together. I'm once again challenging them all to a 100 Picture Challenge. To take at least 100 pictures and create a shared album between them and post it on Facebook. Hopefully and I'm pretty sure that they will have cell phone service there. With a ski lodge nearby, one would think that they do.

While she is away, I'll once again be holding down the fort here at home. Me, Kiwi, Peanut and Sophie are planning on having a big party with the Turkey's, Deer, Squirrels, Chipmunks and all the birds that stop by daily. There will be free corn and bird feed for all and Cat food and treats for my feline friends. They think they will be having all the fun, wait till I break out the catnip and treats here.

I hope everyone has a great Monday and the start of a new week.

Sunday

Here I sit once again, co-authorless all alone. I'm here watching Patch Adams on the TV and collecting my thoughts for the day. I'm not sure where Peanut is, but she was at my desk a lot yesterday and even told me she was ready to co-author once again, but that appears to just be an old cat's tale.

West Virginia surprised me yesterday, we did everything in our power to give the game to Baylor but somehow managed to pull out a 27-21 Overtime victory out despite doing their best to give the game away. A key 4th quarter goal line stand by the defense turned out to be a big part of the game after the bonehead play of the year on special teams where our own player basically tackled our punt returner causing him to fumble. I can't say I have ever seen anything like it and it just left me shaking my head (actually I was screaming along the lines of what the $#@& are you doing).

No Steelers game today, the Tennessee Titans had a number of players test positive for COVID so they rescheduled the game for later this month. Look for the New England Patriots to suffer the same fate as Cam Newton has tested positive, they are going to try to move that game to Tuesday but we'll have to see as that was the original strategy of the Steelers and Titans.

Other than that, just our weekly chores to do today. Shopping etc, but no Steelers game for us today. Who knows what the day will throw at us.

Have a great day, make the most of it.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit yet once again in a quiet household, I think I hear my co-author running around somewhere getting into things, and I'm sitting here watching Head of State and collecting my thoughts for the day.

Speaking of Head of State, yesterday was a strange day. Many members of this administration came down and tested positive for Corona Virus, President Trump who was showing mild signs had tested positive and was transported to stay at Walter Reed Medical Hospital. The first lady and many close to the President have also tested positive, Vice President Mike Pence did  not test positive.

On to topics of interest, the Mountaineers once again take the field for a battle on the gridiron this afternoon as they take on the Baylor Bears. Baylor is a 1 1/2 point favorite over the home team Mountaineers. The Matt Rhule era is over with at Baylor as he is now the coach of the Carolina Panthers, so now the Mountaineers get an introduction to the Dave Aranda era, who was the Assistant Head Coach last season of the National Champion LSU Tigers. I don't have a lot of faith with us pulling out a win this afternoon, Game is here in Morgantown and starts at noon. Once again there will be no fans other than player families permitted in the stands.

No other plans for the day since the weather has taken on fall like conditions with the temperatures dropping.

Have a great day today, I'll be watching football.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes it is once again that time of the week that we all look foreword to, when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

Do you believe it, the kids are back in school for the time being and we are going to have some High School Football in Monongalia County finally!! The Morgantown Mohigans are at home and play 3-1 Musselman tonight at Pony Lewis Field. This is the first game this season for the Mohigans. The University High Hawks are also home this evening hosting Albert Gallatin (PA) which really has me wondering why Mon County Schools don't play them more often since they are so close and just across the state line. Clay Battelle also starts their season on the road at Calhoun County. Trinity also starts their season tonight when they travel to Madonna. Good luck to all four Monongalia County teams this evening, you finally are getting the chance to play this year.

It was 47 years ago today that I had the worst injury I have ever had in my life. One that required surgery to put a pin in my leg for traction, a 4 week hospital stay, then 6 weeks in a body cast and then 2 more weeks in the hospital in traction again (this time without the pin) then a couple more weeks in a straight leg cast. It was a greentree fracture to my left femur that sidelined me for months. I was able to play baseball that next spring, but that was a bad break from a pickup football game with college students in the mud.

This evenings plans I guess all depend on Hayley. If they are stopping by we will be making spicy sausage rigatoni if they are not we'll probably just order from somewhere and bring it home or try going out to eat.

Have a great day and Go Mohigans

This weeks pic goes back to 2014 at a time when I possessed 2 (of our 3) Steelers Trivia Championship Trophies. We did win it again the next season for the third time, but we have never had the opportunity to have the entire team together with all three trophies at one time.

I stopped in to see my sister Terri that day when she was working, and I happen to have the trophies with me that day and we grabbed this picture.

Have yourselves a great day.
