Tuesday's Tidbits

* This is the last day of March, can you believe that? I guess that is a good reason to do a tidbits.

* It has been 20,572 days since my birth, once you get to a certain age those numbers really start to add up.

* It has been 5,798 days since I graduated from WVU with a Degree in Geography. I love my chosen field and I wouldn't have changed a thing.

* 4,399 days ago Michelle and I had our first date together, she still loves me all these years later. That's over 12 years that she hasn't kicked me to the curb.

* 3,623 days ago I proposed to Michelle, 4:00 in the morning in the back yard.

* It was 4,065 days ago in front of our closest friends and family, Michelle and I became Husband and Wife. I'm a pretty lucky guy. Next year Hayley takes that walk.

* I have now lived 786 days longer than my Dad did and I'm still going.

* I have 4,277 days to go until I retire, give or take a few hundred days here or there, like I said I love what I do and who knows when I would retire.

* The next Backyard Brawl where we beat Pitt's ass in Football is only 884 days away.

* 308 more days until Phil steps to center stage again for Groundhogs Day. Update on Phil, he has been seen in my back yard again, so he has moved home already.

* 275 more days to go until my Goodbye 2020 Blog is posted, recapping my year.

* There are 268 more shopping days left until Christmas 2020. Walmart hasn't even brought their Christmas stuff back out yet, but give them time.

* My next Anniversary of my 21st Birthday will be in 245  more days.

* There are 166 days to go until Michelle and I set sail once again to the Caribbean. This will be our seventh cruise and it's all paid off already plus we're cashing in big time with all the reductions.

* There are 119 more days to go until Michelle and I celebrate our Ninth Wedding Anniversary together.

* There are 107 days until Michelle and I head to Pittsburgh to see Reba in concert....IF we are not in San Diego. Stay tuned.

* There are only 82 days until the start Summer 2020!!!!!

* I have written 5,973 blogs in the now 15 1/2 years since I started blogging.

* No drone flights this weekend, but that has pretty much been my recurring theme this year with that. I do have a plan to fly Hayley's wedding venue sometime this spring for her.

* Michelle is moving her office to Clarksburg this week, she should be working from home most of the week.

* BOPARC has released their softball packets for 2020, The Senior League Packet has been released. We are going to be Whitetail Crossing once again this year if the Corona Virus doesn't cancel the season.

* This Corona Virus has pretty much shut down everything not only here in the US but around the world. We are #1 in the world in infected people now.

* Speaking of the Corona Virus, you can track it here.

* Have I ever mentioned I hate snow? It's been a mild winter, but I just wanted to point that out.

* They STILL have not found Mountie Python, the 15' snake that escaped in Sabraton this summer.. He even has his own twitter account.

* I'm STILL converting some old VHS tapes to Digital Format for Trish. I really need to get back on this as I am such a procrastinator.

* Have yourselves a great day.

Monday

All good things must come to an end, and that does indeed include those fun filled and relaxing things we refer to as weekends. Now it's time to stick out noses back on to the grindstone for another fun week of doing what it is we do for a living.

I am able to telework, but I will once again be going into the office this week, we are transitioning from one contract where USS&E2 was the Prime to We2 being the prime on our Contract. The two people across the office from me are both leaving at the end of this contract tomorrow, one is retiring and the other is moving to South Carolina to be closer to her Grandchildren, but these were both executive level people. Today and tomorrow will be the last days under this contract with the new contract starting Wednesday.

Michelle and I had a great weekend, we were out and about Saturday doing our research for a new riding mower. Michelle is liking the Husqvarna as it appears to be assembled quite well. We also looked at a few John Deeres, a Cub Cadet, Troy Built and Craftsman. I was going to buy a used one, but with the stimulus check I figured we would just go buy a new one.

Have a great day.

Sunday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit once again in a quiet household, my co-author is no where to be found. She was playing Meowtside yesterday, so she is probably a little bit worn out. I'm here watching who knows what and collecting my thoughts for the day.

Phoenix Bakery has their mixer fixed now, so this will be our normal Sunday of Grocery Shopping and going over to the bakery for some delicious bread that I went all last week without. Oh the things we picky bread fans must sometimes endure.

We did get a little bit of news late last week. One of Michelle's longest and dearest friends, Holly as well as her Father, both tested positive for the Corona Virus. She lives back where Michelle is from and is in good spirits trying to defeat this. This past week it was reported that a number of residents at the Sundale Rest Home here in Morgantown were infected. I'm ready for this whole pandemic to be over and done with.

No plans this afternoon, probably a good day for a nice nap.

Have yourselves a great day, stay safe.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit in a quiet household, my co-author has just showed up and is stretching and warming up and getting ready to share her feline brain power with me as I construct this early morning blog. I'm watching No Strings Attached on Amazon Prime and stretching my arthritic fingers.

I did find out some very sad news this week, someone who I played on numerous softball teams with, someone who was part of our fantasy football league we used to run, Scott Barr has passed away after a long battle with cancer. I know he had a battle with cancer a few years ago and actually beat it, then this latest one developed and it was a fight for him. Condolences go out to Lindsey and the rest of the Barr family. He was a great guy and a great team mate on some of the best and funnest teams I ever played on. Those teams were a family and we are all still like family.

Plans for the day, we are going to stay home. I think my highlight for this day will be to change my headlights in Pearl. The drivers side is out, but when I change them I change both sides.

Michelle has been packing up their Fairmont Office this past week and preparing it to move to the Clarksburg location next week. Her company purchased the Goff Building and is remodeling everything, so she will actually be working from home later next week as construction finishes up.

Michelle and I also might be starting to do a little research this weekend. With Patty moving to Florida, I am really going to be in need of a riding mower. I think we are just going to purchase a new one, then when we leave here just sell it if it is not needed. I've noticed John Deere's really retain their value on the resell market, but we are just starting to do our research. I was going to buy one, but with the stimulus passing and a financial windfall coming our way that made the decision really easy.

Have yourselves a great day today, stay home, practice social distancing and bing watch some television.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes it is once again that time of the week that we all look foreword to, when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

With the Corona Virus still impacting everyone and everything, it looks like this weekend is going to look a lot like last weekend. A whole lot of not really doing anything and sequestering ourselves until this whole thing blows over and is done with.

The big question is what do you write about other than how many pieces of rice are in a couple of my boxes, yes we inventoried and enumerated them all....lol

I did manage to subscribe to Hulu and Disney+ last weekend. I already had ESPN+ so I got them all in one deal. I don't watch much TV but Michelle loves Hulu.

Have yourselves a great day.

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out, time to look at some of the 30,000+ images that I have either captured with a Camera, Scanned or just simply stolen off the internet. Little lost moments in time that I post up and relive tight here for everyone while I try to recall the moments around that image. Sometimes it's pretty easy to find that image and sometimes it's a challenge, although one thing it always is is a whole lot of fun for me.

This weeks pic goes back a decade, back to my nephew Calvin's Birthday Party when my great-nephew Kaiden was on top of Pam and George's 4-wheeler and getting ready to take it for a spin.

I saw some videos my niece Amy posted this past week with Kaiden and Kynlea riding their 4 wheelers, then I came across this one and thought it's perfect for this weeks photo flashback.

Have yourselves a great day.

Monday

All good things must come to an end and that does in fact include those fun filled (or sequestered) filled weekends. Now it's time for us to stick our collective noses back onto the grindstone or log in if you can work remote and start another fun filled week of doing what it is we do for a living.

For those of you remembering Maxine "Nana" Snider, today would have been her birthday. I tried to find an online obituary, but could not find one for her although I did find one for someone of the same name and same birthdate, just not the one we knew.

I did manage to make a few phone calls this weekend to catch up with some people to see how they were all doing. That's the one nice thing, you seem to make time to speak to family members you only see during certain times of the year anymore.

Have yourselves a great day, I am authorized to telework but I will once again be going into the office probably most of this week.

Sunday Morning Ramblings

Here I once again sit in a quiet household, my co-author is still snuggled up with Michelle in bed as I'm here waking up and collecting my thoughts for the day. For Love of the Game is playing on the TV behind me and I'm starting to plan out the day.

Of course our morning will start with our weekly shopping at Krogers. Hopefully the panic of yesterday and the anticipation of the Governor shutting the state down are all over with and shelves will be restocked by this morning. They are really good about this, hence why we love Gucci Krogers. No Phoenix Bakery this morning, they have a broken belt on their mixer and will be closed today. Much sadness on my belly this week without my toast for breakfast.

I watched the Knighthawks do a little living room concert last night, In haven't heard them perform for a while and they did a great job. It made for an entertaining evening right up until the Governors speech that everyone was waiting for.

Speaking of the Governors Speech that we were all told to tune in and listen to, W T F. Incoherent ramblings for 10 minutes, followed by if we don't follow this plan of action and he never introduced one. What a complete and total waste of time. If you are going to have an emergency press conference, have something to say and a defined plan of action prepared, he had neither. Looking at social media afterwards, from both the left and the right, no one had a positive thing to say about his speech. I'm watching on Youtube and I kept typing "GET TO THE POINT" and there never was one. These are critical times, we need leaders who are communicators and can deliver a message to the populace, not some rich guy in over his head.

Have a great day.

Sequestered Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit in a quiet household, my co-author Peanut is no where to be found, I'm here collecting my thoughts for the day and trying to decide what to watch as I fall back asleep.

With this Corona Virus really starting to impact the local area, besides everything being shut down everywhere, Monongalia County has their first confirmed case of this deadly COVID-19 that has taken over 11,000 lives in the past couple of weeks.

Most of NETL is teleworking, but I've been on site every day to assist those in our Engineering group with being able to get set up and use their work PC's from home. I've got almost everyone in our group set up as well as worked with our Amentum brothers in other sites to assist in getting this ability to be able to telework. We have no idea how long this will impact us, but I think we are doing the right things in this country to prepare and using what is happening in Italy as a sever warning.

I did receive word this week that RTI has placed a Temporary Suspension of In-Person Field Data Collection. Segment materials have not been sent out as they intended this past week. They are anticipating this lasting a month or two before we go back out into the field and have advised many field workers to apply for unemployment benefits as many of my co-workers work this project full time.

Michelle and I are hunkered down here at home this weekend. She's still not 100% and we are not pushing our luck now that the virus is here in town.

I guess it is going to be a naps, snacks and movie kind of day. Oh darn...lol

Have yourselves a great day.

Being that I am writing this blog six days ahead of time, so as to ensure that I do a blog every day, I can't tell you what is going on this weekend.

The Corona Virus has pretty much brought everything to a halt, and I have to idea what the situation today is when I wrote this last Saturday afternoon.

I do know whatever plans I have will be minimal at best just so I can get a little bit of rest and relaxation this weekend since last weekend was pretty busy for me. Work today, Sam's club and then out to dinner, it's out typical Friday.

Have yourselves a Great Day

Happy Birthday Amy Dalton

I would like to take this opportunity to wish my wonderful niece Amy a very Happy Birthday today.

Amy is an amazing goal oriented inspiring young lady, she is a teachers aid as this is a profession that I think she absolutely loves. She set a goal, came up with a gameplan to achieve it and now has that job I think that she has always wanted to have.

Amy is also a very creative photographer. She has that Photographers eye on how to create a great shot that I wish I had but do not. Nick and Terri just got her a Cricket this past weekend for her birthday, so I am sure the creativity level is about ready to explode with this new tool (or toy).

She's an amazing mother with two kids with all the tools and guidance to accomplish anything they choose and that starts in the home that Amy and Ralph have created.

I'm not sure what Ralph, Kaiden and Kynlea have planned for Amy today, but you can bet it is going to be memorable. If you see this wonderful young lady today, make sure you wish her a Happy Birthday.

Happy Birthday Amy.

This one goes way back, over half a Century back to when I was a little boy. I was wearing shorts, am bald and holding a ball bat, can't say too much has changed since that fateful day..lol

This picture was taken by my Grandma Hall way back in the 60's when we used to live down in Van Voorhis. I was pretty much foot loose and fancy free during those years. If I ever get my hands on a time machine, I need to make sure I go back to this day and tell my youthful self that I'm holding the bat wrong.

Have yourselves a great day

Monday

Well that fun filled thing that we refer to as the weekend is now over with, now it is hopefully time to take out butts back to our place of employment and start doing what it is we do to make a living.

It was a short weekend for me, being I worked Saturday, but let's just say I was compensated well for working a few hours that day. We should be able to close out all the lines in all of those segments and pretty much close up the state for this quarter. The next quarters segment materials should be here this week.

I got a service award for working for when I worked for AECOM (I work for Amentum now), a nice plaque with my name on it and I got to choose a gift from their list and there was nothing I really wanted, they had some really nice watches, but I'm an apple watch kind of guy, so I got Michelle a Coach Hadley Hobo Bag as my gift. It made her day and it arrived this past Saturday.

Looking at my week ahead, everything looks pretty open for me. We are transitioning from one contract to another and a lot of key personnel is changing on the upper management part so it will take a little getting used to.

They did move the Reba Concert from this week to July 16th, so we won't be attending that concert this week. Only problem is if I get to go to San Diego again, the dates conflict and Michelle has already said San Diego takes precedence.

We're still cruising this September. We paid it off in full when we booked it, now with all the things happening around the world and Carnival having price drops, we're walking on board with $580 of on board credit. This is by far our largest amount we walk on with, one year it was like $440 but this passes it and that may even go up.

Have yourselves a great day.

Sunday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit in a quiet household, my co-author is no where to be seen or heard, so I'm flying solo once again. Something or another is playing on the TV in the background which should tell you I use it more for noise than anything else.

As the Corona Virus has basically shut down everything, allow me to share with you a great tracking tool to see where the virus has impacted and (Peanut is now here) and to be able to get updates on where it is most prevalent. I've never seen a virus just shut down the plant like this one has, so I have nothing to compare this one to. We're all seeing uncharted waters with this one.

Rural King opened their doors for business yesterday morning here in Morgantown. There was a line through the parking lot to get into the store before it even opened. Everyone is in some kind of a mad rush to buy up toilet paper for some reason and they had a lot of it. Took them 43 minutes to sell out and the students are already gone for spring break.

Michelle and I are going to celebrate 12 years since our first date today, we're going to do a movie and pizza this afternoon. Michelle was looking at movie trailers yesterday and I think she wants to go see the movie the Hunt, so that's what we shall go and see.

Have yourselves a great day today. Make it memorable.

Pi Day Morning Ramblings

Here I sit on Pi day in a quiet household, my co-author Peanut is no where to be found and I'm flying solo this morning  writing my blog. I will try to get through this without her intellectual insight to guide me.

Some things have changed today, Michelle was going to work the Auction today, but Jim and Chris have postponed it due to the Corona Virus outbreak  so they will not have the auction this evening.

What's changed for me, well my quarter I thought was over with with RTI with my new segment materials coming this week, but guess again. I have to travel today down south today so that we can finalize some cleanup work today. We have no one else to go as all of our travelers are out working that they asked me to go down and work the segment today and I said I would oblige.

Some other changes that occurred this week. We are not attending the Reba Concert as it has been postponed until mid July. It might pose a slight problem as this is the time period we may be heading out west for the ESRI Conference.

All sporting events in this country as well as all schools and other events have been suspended or stopped due to the attempt to reduce the risk of the Corona Virus outbreak. I have never seen anything like this in my life where anything and everything is shut down. NCAA Tournament, NBA, XFL, MLB, NASCAR, NHL, Universities are shutting down as well as schools.

As far as us where I work, they testing all the feds working remotely this week to see if the servers could handle it. They are preparing just in case the Continuity of Operation Plan (Coop) needs to be implemented.

Have yourselves a great day

Big Ole Hairy Friday the 13th

Yes it is once again that time of the week that we all look foreword to, when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday the 13th.

Jim and Chris are supposed to have an Auction tomorrow down in Osage, they own the building and it is where they have their shop. As of the time of my authoring this particular blog they don't have the auctionzip site set up yet. Follow the link and if it is updated it will be in their list of auctions. I think Michelle has been recruited once again to work it.

What's on my agenda for the weekend? Not sure, with Michelle working the Auction tomorrow it might just be a power lounge day for me as last Saturday was. Plans however can always change at the drop of a hat. As long as I don't run into Jason Voorhees tonight, tomorrow should be good.

Have yourselves a great day

This weeks pic goes all the way back a couple of weeks. It's very rarely that Michelle and her two sisters Chris and Dani as well as all of the spouses are in one place and we can manage to get a picture of all of us together.

Jim is always around, but it's either me or Roy that is absent for the picture. On this day this pic was taken at the Iron Horse Saloon, just right before Roy had to leave to go to work in Wheeling. He's a coal miner so you know how busy their schedules can be.

Have yourselves a great day.

Monday

After a shorter than usual (daylight Savings time) weekend, it is time to take our collective noses and stick them back onto the grindstone for another fun filled week of doing what we do for a living.

Looking at my own personal work schedule this week, just a couple of meetings on my agenda for the week. Nothing out of the ordinary, although I do have to try to track down if there are any Indiana Bat habitats on site. It's endangered and we are going to trim some trees, but we can't disturb their habitats. They should still be hibernating and we should be OK.

I'm just working one job now as my  RTI job is done for this quarter for me. Which means I have a few weeks to rest and relax a little bit before another quarter kicks off. I was ready for that one to end and for a new one to begin. I should be getting my new materials here in a few weeks, or more specifically on St Patrick's Day.

Have yourselves a great day

Sunday

Peanut finally showed up for duty to help me write my blog this quiet Sunday Morning. She has a public service announcement to remind everyone to move their non automatic clocks ahead one hour if you have not already done so as it is now Daylight Savings Time.

Big day here in Morgantown as the WVU Basketball Team closed out the regular season with a 76-64 win against the #4 team in the country and the team that has spent most of the season as #1 in Baylor. It was Senior Day and the Seniors went out in memorable fashion including Chase Harler who proposed to his High School sweetheart when he was being introduced as a Senior with his parents. All of this in front of an over capacity 14,014 fans in attendance.

Our plans for today, once again grocery shopping and doing our chores around the house in preparation for another fun filled week of working starting tomorrow morning.

Michelle is seeming like she is feeling better after a week long battle with the flu. I know both of us have had a touch of it over the past couple of weeks, hopefully this is the end of it for this season. I had my flu shot in October, and made up until a couple of weeks ago flu free for the season.

Have yourselves a great and peaceful day, make some memories.

Saturday Morning Rambling

Here I sit in a quiet household, my co-author is no where to be found and I'm going to try to fly solo this morning without Peanut's wit and input. I will try to make my way through this without her.

No plans for us today, it's not that often that I can make that claim. Our nephew Donald got married recently and his wedding reception is today back up in Beaver, but Michelle has been out sick most of the week and we're just going to hang around the house and take it easy today.

This past week the WVU Baseball team had a free game to attend and it was a doozie. A pitching gem is a Perfect game and also a no hitter. In a perfect game no one reaches base, in a no hitter it allows for walks and errors. WVU threw a no hitter on Wednesday, the first since 2007. It was one heck of an accomplishment and feat. They beat Kent State 8-0.

Now for the most important piece of information you are going to need to know this weekend. Tomorrow is the beginning of Daylight Savings Time. That means you are losing an hours sleep tonight and to turn your non automatically adjusting clocks ahead one one hour before you go to bed. What does this all mean? It means that Spring is just about here, the days are getting longer, it'll get dark later and the weather will start to warm up a little bit. Needless to say this is the dawn of my favorite season of the year.

Have yourselves a great day today.

Nothing on my agenda for this upcoming weekend, I know that can tend to change pretty quickly as there are a couple events for us to consider this weekend back where Michelle if from.

Other than that I'm going to relax, I've earned a little downtime from doing fieldwork and have the next few weeks to do what I want to do or Michelle and I want to do. We do tend to live a very busy lifestyle, so when there is a little bit of time like this where neither one of us have any obligations, it's nice to just relax.

Have a great day

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out, time to look at some of the 30,000+ images that I have either captured with a Camera, Scanned or just simply stolen off the internet. Little lost moments in time that I post up and relive tight here for everyone while I try to recall the moments around that image. Sometimes it's pretty easy to find that image and sometimes it's a challenge, although one thing it always is is a whole lot of fun for me.

How about a video for this weeks photo flashback, this is one that I took with my drone at Mason Dixon Park a couple of years ago. Michelle and I went out the summer before last as I was still learning what it was that I am doing. I want to get into it a little more in 2020.

I am gong to refly it a few times over the next year and a half and concentrate a little more on the barn. Just in case, I want some aerial footage of the venue for a specific reason next year.

Have yourselves a great day

* 4,371 days ago Michelle and I had our first date together, she still loves me all these years later.

Monday

After a nice two days in a row weekend away from work, it's time to take our collective noses and stick them back onto the grindstone for another fun filled week of doing what it is we do for a living.

One thing I always think about on this date, March  2 is not even personally related, but it is sports related. Wilt Chamberlain, whom I consider the greatest athlete in history, scored 100 points and set an NBA scoring record on this day in 1962. Don't know why every March 2, that is the first thing that I remember.

It was a memorable weekend to say the least, but now it's back to our regularly scheduled week. I'll be in the office all week working the normal schedule, nothing big on my calendar as they are beginning the transition from one contract to the other. I guess my biggest excitement work related is I once again shifted all my retirement funds into another account since I no longer work for AECOM. It's kind of a funny process as they have to send you a check that you send right back to them. That transitional period alone saved me from part of the stock market tanking, my money was sitting idle as everything was tanking and what happens when I finally get my money in there? Largest single day drop in Dow history followed by another doozy. Since Thursday I lost $6,000, but I go long and it'll rebound. Not the way to start the week though. Hopefully the dow bounces back today.

Have yourselves a great day.

Hi ho hi ho

A Busy One Ahead

Here I sit in a semi-quiet household, my co-author just stopped by indicating that she is ready and willing to assist me in writing this blog, right after she goes and plays on her new scratch pad with catnip on it. I'm sitting here still waking up and collecting my thoughts for the day. Uh oh Sophie has already chased Peanut off the catnip infused scratch pad, that was quick.

It's going to be a busy day for Michelle and I as it has been a busy weekend.

The morning is going to start off by attending JT's (Amanda and Joey's son)  Baptism at Woodland followed by lunch at Iron Horse Tavern. It's going to be a family filled morning.

Then, Michelle and I are heading to Cannonsburg for Luke's Birthday Party. They have booked the party at some Nurf facility so they can have a Nurf war, something Haley used to love to do years ago.

Speaking of Hayley, after multiple facility visits, scheduling conflicts with the facilities and other issues, she and Tyler have found their venue and have began to book it. We're in the process of securing the local facility for three days next year (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) for the event. It has a full and operational kitchen, a big dining area and a second building that we are going to get a big tent and place it beside the building to expand the size. It has an outdoor stage, a large fire pit and three cabins and not to mention, all of the parking that we are going to need. Plus it has everything she wants for her Wedding and it's local.

I think she was starting to get frustrated as she has looked at The Barn at Madison, Camp Muffley, but it was booked. Another place up in Uniontown that Hayley was scheduled to tour before finding this local venue.

It's been a busy and eventful weekend thus far.

Have yourselves a great day.
