Monday

All good things must come to an end, and that does include uneventful things we refer to as weekends. Now it is time to stop all the weekend things and get back to doing what it is that we do for a living. Let's stick our collective noses back onto that grindstone for another week of making this a better rock to live on.

Still working 12-hour shifts this week and I will be until this project is over with in three weeks, so I'm going to make the money while it is available. There are a number of next prospects, just waiting to see what transpires.

We will get a house guess today for the cats and the bird. Mom's Dod Lucy is going to come and pay us a visit today as Gerald gets his batteries changed. She is going to come over and pay a visit and relax, I'll be working so she'll either have to play with the cats or with Kiwi. If I know better, Kiwi is going to teach her to play a board game that he's going to cheat to win on. He's just like that at times.

Other than that it's just going to be our typical week, Michelle will be visiting her Mom this evening and I'm on my own for dinner.

Have yourselves a great day.

Sunday

Here I sit once again in a quiet household, Kiwi is up but he's not talking this morning. Something about he wants to commercialize his twitter account and make a $Trillion this year and he can't be bothered with our conversations this morning. Stuck up Aviary.

Yesterday turned out to be a pretty lazy day, we pretty much did nothing yesterday. I went and dried clothes in the early AM, but that was about the extent of what we did other than sleep.

Today there are a few things that I would like to do, starting with the weeks grocery shopping and then coming home and doing our weekly chores. Just a pretty redundant weekend for the most part. I know the weather was much warmer, but it was wet as hell yesterday so nothing got done outside.

Have yourselves a great week and rest up for the coming challenges this week. Have a great and memorable day.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here Kiwi and I sit once again, we having another one of our in-depth conversations about whether Happy Days or Lavern and Shirley was the better show. Me, I favored Happy Days, Kiwi on the other hand loved Lenny and Squiggy and is a Lavern and Shirley fan.

It looks as if it is going to be a wet weekend, so I am probably going to wait until next weekend to fire up the tractor and do a little bit of yard work. It's getting to be that time of the year and there are a few outside things I would like to get done including putting the AC back into the bedroom window before it starts to get hot.

Other than that no real plans this weekend, especially when the weather is not really cooperating. I know we do tend to live a very boring life around here, but we tend to get our naps in during the inclimate weather season.

Have yourselves a great day.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

My agenda for the day is to work and then head to do our weekly Walmart and Sams shopping. It's basically what I do every Friday afternoon to close out the workweek, then Michelle and I go out to dinner afterward to celebrate the end of another week of work coming to a close.

No big plans for us this weekend, I know my Mom asked me to watch Lucy on Monday while Gerald has a procedure done. We'll hand out with a couple of cats and Kiwi with his bird's eye view will keep tabs on everything for me. He's pretty good at that.

We have no plans for the weekend, although if it is warm and there is not much rain we may fire up the lawn tractor and pick up some limbs and stuff that have fallen recently. Grass is way to short and it's still way too wet to mow, but maybe I can get the tractor ready for the summer.

Have yourselves a great day.

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out, time to look at some of the 30,000+ photos that I have stored on my computer. Little lost moments in time that I either captured with a lens, scanned, or just stole from someplace on the internet. I like to find just one and post it up and recall or relive the picture to the best of my ability. Sometimes this is a pretty easy task and sometimes it's not that easy, one thing it has always been a whole lot of fun.

Any guess what bossy bird chose this week's Photo Flashback? You guessed it it was Kiwi who was absent for the picture believe it or not. He had a contractual dispute and refused to appear unless we met his demands.

I got this shirt for Michelle last year on Amazon, you can find about anything on Amazon, and it's a shirt with her two favorite morning things, Coffee and I have been replaced with Kiwi. Although I can't seem to recall her ever wearing the shirt again, but I could be wrong.

Have yourselves a great day.

* It was 4,238 days ago in front of our closest friends and family, for the most part, Michelle and I became husband and wife at the Marilla Center, we poured sand into a vase and said our I do's and we were hitched. How many people keep track of how many days they have been married 11+ years later?

* I have now lived 1,860 days longer than my Dad did and I'm still going strong.

* My older Brother Jonathan lived 21,266 days, I've now outlived him by 383 days making me Senior Supreme Sibling once again! To my younger siblings, bow down to my age seniority. =)

* There are 279 more shopping days left until Christmas 2023. You still have plenty of time to prepare and get ready. =)

First Day of Spring

Today starts the time of my absolute favorite season on the year. Some people love Winter, some love Fall and others love Summer,  for me, it is Spring as the season that I love more than any other.

It's a time when the birds return from their trip to the south during the winter, a time when flowers and trees start to bud and radiate the landscape with a beautiful array of colors throughout the whole spectrum. When the new fresh spring smells radiate through the air and tickle your nostrils with very soothing smells. It is by far my favorite season of the year and when I am at my happiest. Goodbye Winter, even though it was a very mild winter this year and hello Spring.

Looking at my week ahead I am still working 12-hour days this week as we try to wind this project up and turn over the first-of-its-kind fully operational system that works. I can see down the road me getting contract work because I was involved with this project.

This could be an eventful week in our country, not going to give my opinion publicly other than to say let the legal process play out. I have my feelings on the situation as does everyone else. but a word to the wise for anyone who may be emotionally attached with this situation and are on social media. Be careful of what you put out on the internet. I'm quite positive the NSA will be monitoring and looking for red flags. Just a little bit of advice.

Have yourselves a great day, and make it special.

Sunday

Here we sit yet once again in a quiet household, Kiwi and I are having an in-depth conversation as to who WVU is going to get to replace Dawn Plitzuweit as WVU's Women's Basketball Coach. Kiwi thinks it should be him, but I'm saying it will be Kim Stephens from Glenville State. We'll have to wait and see, Kiwi swears he can have a birds' eye view of the whole situation.

There is a bit of news, my contract with Duquesne Light will end on April 14th. That is the official date that I need to turn my equipment in, we are finalizing this project and what was supposed to be a three-month contract has turned into a year-and-a-half venture for me. We are the first in the country to implement an OMS on this large scale. I wanted to stay on this project until it gets turned over and that is where we are at. Now it's on to the next contract or employment situation for me. I've already been contacted about numerous positions, for other work, some of it remote work and some of it may cause us to relocate. We'll just have to wait and see what options are presented and go from there.

Michelle is planning on taking her Mom shopping this afternoon, we just relaxed around the house yesterday and I watched some basketball. It was a lazy day and sometimes you just need that.

Have yourselves a great day, make it a special one.

Happy Birthday Amy Dalton

I would like to take this opportunity to wish my wonderful niece Amy a very Happy Birthday today.

Amy is amazing and inspiring to all, she is one who sets out goals and goes out and accomplishes them, no matter how big or how small. Whether it be raising a family, career path or simply building and paying for a new house for her and her family. She is always focused and goal-driven.

Amy is also a very creative photographer. She has that photographer's eye on how to create a great shot that I wish I had but do not. It takes a certain level of creativity that she exhibits and I don't have.

She's an amazing mother with two kids with all the tools and guidance to accomplish anything they choose and that starts in the home that Amy and Ralph have created.

If you happen to see this amazing young woman today, make sure you wish her a Happy Birthday.

Happy Birthday, Amy.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here Lord Kiwi and I sit, he thinks he is now royalty and wants me to refer to him as Lord Kiwi because he sent out and paid for the title on the internet, in a quiet household. We're up discussing whether pork or turkey sausage tastes better. I like Turkey sausage with breakfast and Kiwi, well he only eats nuts so what would he know about Sausage.

I'm out doing laundry today since Michelle did it last week, so I will do it this week and let her sleep in a little bit this morning. Happy wife, Happy life.

My NCAA Basketball bracket is kind of weak this year. I usually get in a group with some guys I used to work with and their church. This year my bracket is nowhere near as strong as it has been in past years. I have Kansas winning it all again this year, but it's some of the supporting teams and upsets are going to be what is going to hurt me.

I have no plans for the day, I'm not sure what Michelle has planned. I know her and Chris were talking about going and grabbing her Mom and going to do some shopping for her. You know the basic necessities for clothing that needs to be periodically replaced.

Have yourselves a great day

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

If you are heading out today, make sure that you are wearing Green as today is in fact St. Patrick's Day, the day where you either wear something green or get pinched, especially if you are Irish. Both Michelle and I are of Irish descent, so we'll both try to live up to that tradition today.

Plans for the day and weekend, well I am off this weekend, not working and not having to make up any hours, so I guess I'll be the one drying laundry tomorrow morning. This evening it will be the Walmart and Sam's Club shopping that we do every week. We are pretty boring and redundant in what we do on Fridays, I'm just happy that I get a couple of days off to do what I want to do.

Have yourselves a great day and the start of a great weekend.

This picture is from almost 8 years ago in 2015. Michelle and I started the day at KDKA Studios by winning and taping our third Steelers Trivia Challenge, I told Bob Pompeani that we needed to get this over with quick because I had a niece's College Graduation to attend.

Well, we made it to the Coliseum in time for Brittany's graduation. I grabbed this one of my Sister Pam, Michelle, and I as we are waiting for pomp and circumstance to be played throughout the Soundsystem and the soon-to-be graduates to start their walk.

Have yourselves a great day.

It was 15 years ago today that my life changed forever. I had finally convinced this girl who had stood me up at Christmas time by coming to Klaer Lodge where we were having a big Christmas Eve get together, I was excited for her to come and she was a no show. Stood me up like a scarecrow out in the field.

A few months later I had the opportunity to take this wonderful woman out for the first time and that was 15 years wonderful years ago. She has been by my side ever since and has been my wife for over 11 years (going on 12) years now.

Together we have shared numerous experiences, about 10 or 11 Jimmy Buffet Concerts, 6 cruises, a couple of trips to Washington DC, a week-long trip to San Diego and even Canada and Niagara Falls (see Picture as we are looking back into the US). We have watched a wonderful daughter grow up and get married with her own family and we have spoiled a few pets along the way.

More adventures to come, and I would not want to do them with anyone else other than the love of my life.

Have yourselves a great day.

After a Short Weekend, it's back to work

All good things must come to an end, including those short things that we refer to as weekends. It was significantly shorter as I worked Saturday and Day Light Savings time started. Last week was a hectic week for me, this week should slow down a little bit and get back to normal.

Nothing out of the ordinary planned this week, still working 12-hour days as we are trying to wrap this project up for the customer, I should be done there within about a month so it might be time to ramp up again on job searches. I have a couple of irons in the fire, so we'll have to wait and see.

Michelle made her homemade dutch over bread again this weekend, and she made Zuppa Toscana which is my favorite soup. I had never been a soup eater until we started to make this recipe, I absolutely love it. Olive Garden serves it and it is their most popular soup. This stuff us delicious and I could eat it all the time, especially with homemade bread.

Have yourselves a great day, make it a good one.

Sunday Morning

Here Kiwi and I sit in deep conversation about this whole daylight savings time. I tell him I prefer these hours and would love to make it permanent as it gives you more daylight hours in the evening, but he insists that he is an early bird and enjoys more daylight hours in the early morning.

Anyways, make sure you set all your clocks that do not do it automatically (I still have a couple) ahead one hour if you have not already done so. If you haven't or don't and you need to be someplace, you might be a little bit late in getting there.

Typical Sunday for Michelle and I, other than it being a shorter weekend, we'll be doing our grocery shopping this morning for the week plus whatever chores that need to be done around the house. We have a routine and we are consistent or should I say we are redundant in all that we do on Sunday Mornings.

Have yourselves a great day today, make the most of it and make it special.

Saturday, March 11, 2023

Saturday

Here I sit in a semi-quiet household, Kiwi is up laughing at me because I'm going to work today and he's just going to sit around and watch TV all day. Little does my fine feathered friend know that I have the remote and we're not watching Bird movies all day.

My awesome wife Michelle will be stepping up to assist me today since I am working. She'll be heading the laundromat to dry clothes as I finish out the week. That'll be 60 billable hours plus 7 hours in class time learning an introduction to Agile and earning my certificate in that. It's kind of an introduction course if I would ever want to try to obtain a PMP (Project Management Professional) like my Sister Kim possesses.

There is big news tonight, Daylight Savings Time begins tonight, which means that we will need to set our manual clocks ahead one hour before we go to bed. If you don't and you have someplace to be tomorrow morning, you might be an hour late as we will lose an hour of sleep. The good news is, the days will be longer and it'll start getting Dark much later in the day. I'm a Spring kind of guy, so I am excited about this. I did see some Dafoldils last weekend, but none in our yard as of yet.

I think I may need to take a trip to Petsmart today, we've been there a few times and we like it. I just spent $100 on the cats and bird this week from Chewey, now here I go again spoiling all these pets.

It's not quite a weekend or me yet, I had to take a few hours off this week to take a class on Agile both Tuesday Night and last night. I've completed that, but I have had to take a few hours off of work to complete it, so I have decided to work a few hours tomorrow morning to make up for the lapse in time. What does this mean? That my short weekend (we move the clocks ahead this weekend) just became significantly shorter as I make up some hours. 60 working hours and 7 class hours on top of that can make for a very busy week.

Tonight consists of our Friday evening shopping as well as Michelle and I going out to dinner. My wonderful wife is going to be nice enough to head to the laundromat tomorrow as I finish out my work week.

I just want to point out that this coming Thursday will be six weeks since Phil said 6 more weeks of Winter and French Creek Freddie said spring was right around the bend. I think Freddie has been more accurate, but I'm ready for warmer weather. It has been a mild winter, and I am appreciative of that.

Have yourselves a great day.

Sometimes this is a pretty easy task and sometimes it's not that easy, one thing it has always been a whole lot of fun.

Let's go really old school with this picture, any guesses on how old it is? I don't know for sure, but the little bit with the hat in the center of the picture is my Grandpa Hall and he was born in 1893. The man with a little girl on his lap was my Great Grandfather Robert Lee Hall. So if I would have to guess, I'm going to guess that this picture was taken somewhere around the year 1900.

This may arguably be the oldest picture that I have in my possession. I don't think I have any that are older than this as photography 120+ years ago was not as simple as it is today.

Have yourselves a great day

Monday

All good this must come to an end, and that does in fact include those homemade bread-filled, Kiwi BS'ing, Tax Filing, fun-filled things we call weekends. Now it is time to take our collective noses and stick them back onto that grindstone of life for another week of doing what it is that we do to make this a better world to live in.

I'm still working 12-hour shifts, but it's going to be a little busier as the company I work for is paying for me to take an Introduction to Agile course that will be 7 hours long which will be good for 7 Professional Development Units (PDUs). So Tuesday and Thursday will be a couple of very long 15-hour days and I'll work Saturday Morning to make up the hours that I lost due to this training. Needless to say I am going to be very busy this week.

Michelle is still filling in for the Office Manager as well as doing her job this week again. She had Surgery and will be out a short period of time, so Michelle will do both roles temporarily as she is recovering.

Michelle will be visiting her Mom tonight, we bought her a mini fridge last July and the thing is starting to spark so the nursing home is not allowing that one. We tried to take it back to WalMart Saturday, but they said since it has been so long we have to go to the manufacturer to get it fixed, For as cheap as they are, we just got her another one and Michelle will deliver it tonight to her to keep her soda cold.

Have yourselves a great day.

Sunday Funday

Here Lord Kiwi and I sit once again, he insists that I refer to him as Lord Kiwi now since he assisted me with my tax returns yesterday. And by assisted he was chirping for me to hurry the hell up and come over and talk to him. Now he is just in his hut relaxing.

I did finally finish up and pay my taxes yesterday, we owe the Federal Government money I spent yesterday, but we're getting money back from the State for the first time in probably a decade or so. I am spending more to the Federal Government than am getting back from the State. Overall I'm down like less than $100 between the two, so I guess I'll be happy with that result.

So what is on today's agenda? Grocery shopping and weekly chores will start the day. Michelle is wanting to make the dutch oven bread she made two weeks ago and attempt to perfect it a little bit. If you ask me however that bread was absolutely perfect. She tried a different type of dutch oven bread last week that was really good, but I think this week she wants to do this one again. You know, everyone loves warm bread.

Other than that I'll write my blogs for the week which I do every Sunday. I write Monday thru Thursday Blogs and then write Fridays later in the week.

I did something that I enjoyed yesterday. I grew up watching the New Zoo Review pretty much on a daily basis as a kid growing up. Now their daughter has a Facebook page dedicated to the show, and yesterday Doug and Emmy Jo did a live stream on Facebook yesterday. It was a lot of fun, as this was my show when I was a kid and here we were 50 years later.

Have yourselves a wonderful Sunday, make it a memorable one.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit in a semi-quiet household, Kiwi and I are up having an in-depth conversation about my childhood. He asked me if my wings fell off when I got older, I said Kiwi you stupid bird, humans don't have wings to which he re-iterated that he is the superior species because he can in fact fly without a plane ticket. I guess he got me there.

So what is on my agenda for the day? Off to the Laundromat as early as possible. I got there last week at about 6:45 and would you believe almost every washer and every dryer was in use downstairs at Millers. which is the area's best and largest laundromat. I'll go this morning and watch, I'll be the only one there.

I think today is Brittany's official move-out.in day. She and Matt have a place down in Fairmont right next to the best ice cream shop in the area. They have been slowly moving in, but today is their official move-in date when they will cohabitate together. I know Matt has put a lot of hard work into this home which he bought from his grandparents I think. He upgraded the electrical and everything....did I mention they are next to Dairy Creme Corner?

Michelle is going over to Chris's this afternoon for a few hours. They are going to sort through some old jewelry looking for something specific. How is that for details?

Anyways have yourselves a great day, make the most of it and enjoy your selves today.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

We are at the tail end of another workweek, which always feels pretty good. Knowing that you have done something to make this a better rock to live on is just as satisfying as the financial rewards that come with it. Get today I'm, take a little time and relax.

My plans for the day, are work, Walmart, Sam's Club, and then out to eat. It's a pretty redundant cycle that I do, but I like consistency so no complaints from me.

I have been running a fever for the last week to 10 days, no I haven't taken anything for it, but it also has not been unbearable. More of an annoyance than anything else. Hopefully this gets better this weekend since we did have some nice weather this week.

Speaking of nicer weather, it was 78° on Wednesday. I was finer than hair on a frog and couldn't have been happier.

I really don't have any plans for this weekend, I know Michelle has talked about going over to her Sister Chris's to go through some things of her Mom's. Not sure what my plans for the day might be, I do know I need Michelle to check my math and everything before we send our tax returns out for 2022. Between the state and Federal, I think I owe a grand total of like $78 between two. Owe the Feds and getting money back from the state for the first time since I can't remember when.

This week's pic is one that is hanging in my home, Granda and Grandpa Hall had displayed it in a place of prominence in theirs and one that I have always loved. It was taken in the early 1950's, Grandpa Hall and Bill Addis (Guitar player in back) were part of a group called the Green Mountain Boys and they recorded on the RCA Label.

The man in the lower front holding Grandpa Hall's fiddle, well that is Steve Sholes. Steve was the President of RCA Victor at the time, but his contribution to music history came a couple years after this picture was taken. He was the man who signed many big artists to RCA, I can even remember looking through Grandpa Hall's desk once after he had died and saw a correspondence between him and Chet Atkins who was also on the same label. However Steve Sholes big claim to fame came in 1955 when he signed a young artist from Sun Records to the RCA Label. That young artist was none other than Elvis Presley. Small world isn't it.

Have yourselves a great day.

Back at it

All good things must, unfortunately, come to an end, and that does include those fun-filled things that we all refer to as weekends. In Michelle's and my case, it was a weekend of feeling under the weather. Now it is time once again to take our collective noses and stick them back onto the grindstone for another fun-filled week of doing what it is that we do for a living.

Both Michelle and I were a little under the weather all weekend, I've been running a fever since Thursday, but just slightly to the point, it's not preventing me from doing what I would normally have done this weekend. Hopefully, we're both feeling better by the end of the day.

Looking at our week ahead, nothing out of the ordinary on my calendar. I'm still working 12's on this project as we try to wind this portion of it up. On Michelle's side their office manager is going to be off for a while and Michelle is going to take her place as well as do her own job while they're off and recovering.

Would you believe that my brother Gary responded to a text from Michelle. That lets us know he's alive, but he still hasn't returned any of my phone calls.

Michelle loves her new laptop. She used to research yesterday's bread that we ended up making. Last weekend we did a dutch oven bread that was amazing, she got on the internet looking for something similar but stuffed and she came up with pepperoni and mozzarella bread like we usually get from Pheonix Bakery. I'm really liking this Sunday Break baking we have been doing, Everyone loves warm bread.

Have yourselves a great day.

Sunday

Here I sit yet once again in a quiet household, with the exception of a squawking green cheek conure who has an opinion on everything. He thinks he is an expert on everything and wants Michelle's old laptop, saying it's better than the archaic one that he got at the bird store. Always wanting to improve himself, can't blame him for that.

Anyways yesterday's plans changed. Michelle and I were going to stop by best buy and find her a new laptop. So Friday when we were at Sams she found one she liked but it was the display model and she didn't want a computer with someone's kids boogers all over it, so we stopped at Best Buy to see of they had one. They didn't have that one, but they had one very similar that she really liked. It wasn't 17", but it had the numbered keypad that she wanted, it has Windows 11 Home instead of the S although I would have upgraded it. The S limits what the user can do and only allows aps from the Microsoft store to be installed. It has a backlit keyboard which she likes and it is a 2 in 1 laptop, meaning it folds where she can use it as a tablet (it is touchscreen) or any other position as the screen orientates to where it needs to be. It has everything she wants and it's a lot lighter. Plus it has a Solid State drive, which makes things so much better.

Now on to our day, grocery shopping as we do every Sunday Morning. We'll work out our menu for the week and then use this morning to go and grab anything we need for the week. It's just going to be our typical Sunday Morning, nothing exciting.

I have been feeling a little under the weather the last few days, so taking the day and relaxing may be what is on our agenda for the day.

Have yourselves a superfantastic day, make it a memorable one.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I am once again in the early morning hours in a semi-quiet household. Kiwi of course let's me know that he is still here of course. He believes that he is an expert on everything and he's trying to tell me how his quest to get a trillion twitter followers is going. I don't have the heart to tell him he's still at 4 followers. Maybe he should lower his expectations.

So what is on today's agenda? I'll be heading out here in a few minutes to head to the laundromat to dry clothes once again. It's part of my weekly routine, I get in and get it over with so that I can somewhat enjoy the rest of the weekend.

One thing we are doing today is finding Michelle a new laptop. Hers is getting old and slow, and it's still running Windows 7 and she bought it about 8 years ago. It's just time to upgrade the hardware and the operating system. Everyone is running Solid State Hard Drives now, not as much storage, but much quicker. Plus she doesn't have a whole lot on her computer, so the bigger hard drive really isn't needed. We'll head to Best Buy this morning as well as maybe another place or two to see what we can find. Might end up just ordering one from one of the manufacturers and having it shipped here.

In case no one had noticed, Jean's former boyfriend, had passed away this past week. Jerry McLean passed away on Monday and they had his funeral service on Wednesday.

Have yourselves a great day, make some memories.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

So what is on my redundant agenda for the day? Working, WalMart, Sam's out to dinner, and then home for this evening. We're pretty much like clockwork and we're just going through the motions. I'll head out tomorrow morning to dry laundry, that's when it all gets exciting.

Michelle's Laptop is getting old and tired, it's slow and heavy on her words and it's just that time when you physically replace it with a new computer. Faster processors and upgraded operating systems, it's just time. It still runs Windows 7 as its operating system and the software end of life for that platform was three years ago. I run Windows 11 and that is probably what we're going to upgrade to. So today could be a little bit of running around so she can either get a feel for what she likes and order one or just buy one today if she finds something she likes.

Have yourselves a great day, make it a good one.

Sometimes this is a pretty easy task and sometimes it's not that easy, one thing it has always been a whole lot of fun.

This weeks pic goes back to somewhere in the mid 70's when I was just a young buy who used to go to the old Morgantown Speedway with my Aunt, Uncle and Cousins (Glenna Mae, Ralph, Sharon and Lynne) pretty much every Saturday Night. We would go and watch the stock car races and it was something the whole community used to go and watch. They would always get large crowds.

Well this weeks pic was when I got to meet my favorite driver, who was Mike Cole. He ran the Semi-Lates and was number 38, Jack Smith was the #38 on the Late Model cars, but Mike was my guy to cheer on. Everyone had their favorite, and Mike was mine. I only met him this one time, however his son was a couple years ahead of me at MHS.

There is a local organization called Lauren's Wish, Lauren was Mike's Granddaughter.

Have yourselves a great day.

Monday

All good things must come to an end, and test that does include these fun-filled bread-making things we refer to as weekends. Now it is time to take our collective noses and stick them back onto the grindstone of life once again to do what it is that makes this a better rock to live in.

Looking at my week ahead I am still working my 12s this week for Duquesne Light, my guess is that will continue until the project is completed in less than a couple of months. I do have an interview this afternoon for a remote position for the Ohio Department of Transportation, so trying to line up some work for once this project completes is on today's agenda. Other than that not too much planned out ahead work-wise.

We did do our third consecutive weekend of bread making, this week Michelle wanted to try some no-knead bread that is actually cooked inside of a dutch oven. It's not your typical loaf of bread but one you might be more than likely to find an artisan bread place. Plus we made a loaf from the Krogers' frozen bread dough that I cut up and toast for breakfast which is really good.

Have yourselves a great day and a great start to a productive week.

Sunday

Here Kiwi and I sit yet once again, up in the early AM hours having a deep discussion of what came first the chicken or the egg. We of course take pretty much opposite viewpoints, I say the egg came first and Kiwi insists the Green Cheek Conure came first even before the chicken. Peanut, she doesn't care at all and is relaxing on the couch listening to some cat music.

So what is on our agenda for the day? Grocery shopping and our typical Sunday Chores (cleaning out bird cage, changing the kitty litter bag, grocery shopping, etc).

Beyond that, we're napping. We ended up running around yesterday and went to Pet Smart, our pets are spoiled, and a few other things. I know I wanted to relax yesterday, but it was honestly Michelle's idea to do a little bit of running around. We did manage to avoid the game day traffic that was in town yesterday, other than that we relaxed yesterday too. 12 hour shifts run you down.

Have a great day.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here Kiwi and I once again sit in the early morning, I'm just waiting around for the Laundromat to open to dry clothes and let my relaxing weekend really begin. Kiwi is trying to convince both me and peanut to play some pinochle even though neither of us has ever played and we don't even have a set of cards to use. Not quite sure what that birdbrain is thinking.

So what is on my agenda for the day? The Mountaineer Men's Basketball team is playing Texas Tech tomorrow at the Coliseum. Tipoff is at noon, so it might be best to avoid the Coliseum area around those hours if you don't want to get caught up in any traffic. Speaking of WVU, former player Joe Mazzula has been named the new coach of the Boston Celtics. He was coaching them on an interim basis, but he was named the full time permanent coach earlier this week.

I may download the tax software for this year and get a start on our 2022 taxes. I have no idea how this is going to turn out for us, I'm more than prepared either way. Hopefully, we get some money back, but we'll have to wait and see, we could also owe a lot of money once again.

Other than that, I was a little under the weather this week, so I told Michelle that I would like to take a nap this weekend and kick my butt if I come up with other plans.

For some this is a three-day weekend, with Presidents Day being Monday (post offices will be closed), but unless you get the Federal Holidays it's a typical weekend. A couple of days off to rest and recharge.

Some good news, WVU Alum Joe Mazzula who has been the Interim Head Coach for the Boston Celtics, he is now officially the Boston Celtics Head Coach as they have given him a new contract and it's now his job. Congratulations Joe, I was hoping he was going to be Huggin's replacement, but this is so much bigger.

On  my agenda this evening after getting off work? WalMart and Sam's then out to dinner. I'm not sure if we have any plans for the weekend, but we'll have to wait and see.

Have yourselves a great day

Everyone has seen the group of 5 picture that was taken that day in 1978 at Grandma Halls. But there are in fact other pictures from that day including this one of me and my brother Gary. We were standing on front of the old garage, where basically starbucks is now located on Van Voorhis Road when this and the other pictures were taken.

It was the Summer of 1978 and I was in my Elvis Memorabilia attire that I would wear, he had passed the summer before and it was Elvis mania after he died and I had a number of his t-shirts.

Have yourselves a great day.

Monday

All good things must come to an end, that includes Superbowl weekends and all the other fun that was associated with it. It was a busy but productive weekend, but that must now end as we begin another fun filled week of doing what we do for a living.

Michelle and I did our first two loaves of from-scratch bread yesterday. I saw THIS VIDEO a couple of weeks ago and sent it to Michelle, so we decided we wanted to try to develop a bread-making skill because it's tough to beat a fresh warm loaf of homemade bread. Last week we tried some frozen bread dough because our rolling pin just seems to magically disappear, so I bought Michelle a new rolling pin that she wanted. We also bought a couple containers to store the bread in, to allow it to bread but not get hard.

Friday evening I bought my first-ever electric toothbrush, Michelle had been using a cheap one that was ready to give out, so I told her to find one she liked at Sams Club. We got the Oral B I/O 5 that contained two brushes and chargers as opposed to paying $120 for one. It's a different feeling, I've always brushed my teeth old school and never used an electric toothbrush, wow what a world of difference it makes.

So much for the weekend recap, looking at the week ahead, still working the long shifts. but I do have an interview this afternoon with the Department of Defense for a job in West Virginia. Not sure if I'll get it, but they are interested in talking with me which is a good sign. Keep your fingers crossed, this one pays about $25,000 more than the one I was going to move to Fredericksburg for. Wish me luck.

Have yourselves a great day.
