Happy Birthday Daniel Bell kind of Saturday

Here Kiwi and I sit on a quiet Saturday Morning, I'm waiting for Tudors to open and Kiwi is in his cage with an abacus trying to figure out if his cage is strong enough for a second story. I think he wants to rent it out to another bird to help support his treat habit, then again it could be to cover up his gambling addiction. I really need to cut his internet access off.

I would like to wish my Nephew Daniel a very Happy Birthday today, I think he turns 40 years old today. Where have the years gone. I'll try to message him sometime today, if anyone has a chance send him a message, I'm sure he would more than appreciate it.

No grass cutting for me, they are digging up the yard and have the road shut down in front of the house as they replace the big sewer well in anticipation of the road being widened starting very soon. Van Voorhis in front of hour house will be shut down and won't reopen until Monday Morning. There is a huge backhoe sitting there for the time being. Grass isn't too bad so I might wait another week. I cut it last a couple weeks ago and it really wasn't hight enough to really bother with, same thing today.

Plans for the day, grocery shopping at Aldi and then Michelle and I will be heading to Hayley's. She's done a lot of work remodeling their home and I have yet to see it. She is very proud of it and wants to show it off, so Michelle and I will be heading up sometime today.

Have yourselves a great day.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

If you are looking for a little bit of cheap entertainment, and by cheap I mean free, Head on down to the Ruby Amphitheater this evening to see Hunter Girl. I'm not really familiar with her, but she seems pretty talented and could end up being a big star. She does have a big voice.

No plans for us this weekend, although next weekend Michelle is going up north with Brittany's wedding party for a weekend get away. No boys allowed =(

No power washing this weekend, over the past three weekends we have given it a hell of  a workout, it's time for it to relax and have some time off. It's amazing what that thing can do, it has given the front porch, back deck and the garage new life. I'm sure we will find something to get ourselves into.

Have a great Day

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out, time to look at some of the 30,000+ photos that I have stored on my computer. Little lost moments in time that I either captured with a lens, scanned or just stole from someplace on the internet. I like to find just one and post it up and recall or relive the picture to the best of my ability. Sometimes this is a pretty easy task and sometimes it's not that easy, one thing it has always been a lot of fun.

This weeks pic is very special, my sister Terri found out last summer that she had breast cancer. There was Chemo and when her chemo was done she to ring the bell. After the Chemo there was radiation treatment and another chance to ring that bell one last time to signify she was done with radiation.

She is still waiting for the all-clear from the oncologist, but she has been through bother her chemo and her radiation and has kicked cancer's ass.

This is a pic of her final bell ringing.

* 5,176 days ago I proposed to Michelle in the backyard at 4:00 in the morning. She knew it was coming, and it was still the best decision I ever made in my life.

* It was 5,214 days ago in front of our closest friends and family, for the most part, Michelle and I became husband and wife at the Marilla Center, married by a chiropractor and feasted on food Jeanie made.

* I think I know where I want to do my next drone flight, out by the old county graveyard whenever I get to it.

* We are loving both the Blackstone Grille and the Power washer that we have recently purchased. Michelle shampooed the back patio on Saturday...lol

* Still playing Monopoly Go. I'm still in 6th place among friends and family. I'm trying to catch up.

* How about I start doing my favorite Tic Tok of the week? This weeks Tiktok is Mamie White (Jesco's sister) singing.

Monday

All good things must come to an end, but this is an exciting day to end the weekend on. Now we have to take our collective noses and stick them back onto that grindstone known as life and get back to doing what it is that we do for a living to make this a better rock to live on.

Another work week ahead of us to be able and shine and change the world, make a difference and earn some money while we at it. Everyone likes money, so there is that.

Starting a new project at work today, and finished two up on Friday. Today we start a big project for ERCOT that is going to take time and man hours. It's not a big effort like we did when I worked for Duquesne Light, which was all service lines and the network, this is basically transmission from bus to bus in the state of Texas.

There is not much else going on this week, just working and churning along, one thing I did in fact notice this past weekend. I've done a little scientific research and have determined that weekends are just way too short, they need to be longer.

Have a great day, go make a difference in this world.

Sunday

Here I sit once again in a quiet household, Kiwi and I are up having our normal discussions. Anything from Thermodynamics to the designated hitter in Baseball. He's just a chatty little fellow with a lot to chirp about.

Had a pretty good day yesterday, we did have a houseguest for a few hours as Mom and Gerald went to a Bell family function. Lucy came and visited and stayed with us for a few hours.  Such a good puppy.

We as in Michelle, managed to get the back patio and exterior walls powerwashed. She sprayed them down with soap and then used that little powerwasher adaptor to take up all the stuff off the ground. When our neighbors had their AC out their window, all the condensation ran down the side of the house and left a film of a green fungus down the wall and on the ground. A powerwasher solves that problem like no hose could, 1,900 psi of cleansing power going at it.

Today will be our typical Sunday. I'll do a few chores around the house as Michelle heads to Krogers to finish up any weekly grocery shopping that we may have left to do for the week.

Pam has to work this afternoon so we put off walking for a week.

Have a great day.

Saturday

Here Kiwi and I sit once again in a quiet household, Kiwi and I are up discussing what we are going to be doing today.  He says you humans are so monochromatic, he just does what he wants when he wants. He's such an independent bird, kind of bossy as well.

I do have to point out and give you a demonstration of how fast time flies by. This is an indication that you need to cherish every moment and make as many of those moments as you can. Memories for you and for those around you. A quarter century ago, that was 25 years, many of those of us reading this had our lives changed forever. My Dad, George Hall Sr, passed away. It is hard to believe that it has been a quarter century has passed since that fateful day. So much has happened, from new family members being born to others passing away including Jean and the son he never met in Jonathan. Days are short and precious, don't waste them.

So with that being said, what is on our agenda for the day? Aldi shopping of course, we go to the one where the old Hills Shopping Center used to be in Star City. The amount of shopping I've done in that plaza during my lifetime, I used to buy all my school clothes from there.

Depending on the weather, we may powerwash the back patio. We did the front porch a couple of weeks ago, including Michelle painting the chairs. We did the garage last weekend where Michelle basically shampooed it, that just leaves the back patio and the back of the house. This may be on our agenda for the day.

Yesterday we had to run Peanut to the Vet, she has an upper respiratory and an eye infection and she needed to be treated and get some medication. She'll be fine, just needs a day or so to rest.

We also went and made some memories as Kynlea had her birthday party yesterday evening at her home. Ralph and Amy are such good hosts and parents, they do an absolutely amazing job.

I will say that since we bought the blackstone a couple of weeks ago, Michelle has not cooked a meal in the kitchen since, she loves this thing.

Have yourselves a great day, make some more memories.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

Looking for a little bit of cheap, and by cheap I do mean free entertainment. Well tonight at the Hazel Ruby McQuain Amphitheater Post Modern Jukebox will be performing. They are a vegas act of a number of talented musicians that play other peoples music, but put their own spin on it as if it were done in another era. I've watched their videos for years on Youtube and I've been a fan for a number of years.

However not to be leaning anyone anywhere else, Kynlea's Birthday Party will be held tonight at Ralph and Amy's. Her Birthday was last week, but Kynlea took it upon herself to organize her own birthday party and is doing it the way she wants to do it, family included.

Have yourselves a great day and let's get this party started.

This weeks pic was a little bit of a joke that I put up on Facebook a few years ago. It was the first day of school for the local kids and everyone was posting first-day-of-school pictures, so I did a little twist and put a picture of me getting ready to go to work. It got a pretty good response on Facebook.

That monstrosity of a building you see in the background is now gone. That was Mancave version 1.0.

All good things must come to an end, but this is an exciting day to end the weekend on. Now we have to take our collective noses and stick them back onto that grindstone known as life and get back to doing what it is that we do for a living to make this a better rock to live on.

I actually had a slow but then very productive week last week at work. We got bombarded with work rather than sitting around twittling our thumbs, which does make the the day go so much faster. Same thing this week coming up, we should be bombarded with work ahead of us.

This is going to be a strange week for us schedule wise, Friday evening we'll be breaking our regular routine and heading up to Amy's for Kynlea's birthday party rather than going and doing our typical Sam's shopping on a Friday Night.

Have a great day

I Was Wrong, Today is 1,000 Days

Here I sit in a semi-quiet household. I say Semi-Quiet because Kiwi keeps laughing that I messed my count up and it's actually today that is the 1,000th Day of Michelle's recovery. He says to me Dad, you screwed up Mom's schedule. You should know better and I could do nothing but agree with my little aviary friend.

So TODAY is Michelle's 1,000th day of being clean and sober. If you happen to see my wonderful wife today, make sure you take a few minutes out and congratulate her on such an accomplishment. She really is an amazing woman.

So how did yesterday go? Started out ith our Aldi shopping and then we came home and I cut grass, even though it has been two weeks with the lack of rain it did not seem too bad, I honestly could have let it go another week, but it's cut now. As I was doing that, Michelle pulled everything out of Mancave 2.0 (the garage) and basically shampooed the garage. When we bought our powerwasher we upgraded and bought one with a surface cleaner and let me tell you that thing is amazing. We cleaned the front porch last weekend and it looks amazing. Michelle scrubbed the garage floor yesterday using it, so she was shampooing the garage. So we had a pretty busy and productive day yesterday around the house.

I did take a little time out yesterday to go and visit Ed Cummings. He's been at Encompass for the past couple of weeks. I told him I would stop by nd see him again next weekend, regardless of whether he is there or a long-term rehab facility. He was remembering a lot of things about our youth without issue. He's on the road to recovery, he'll get there.

Have yourselves a great day, make some memories.

1,000 Days

If you happen to see my wonderful wife today, take a little bit of time out and congratulate her on a remarkable accomplishment.

It was 1,000 days ago today that she realized that the alcohol demon was getting the best of her and she knew she needed to stop and take control of her life once again. It was 1,000 days ago today that she started that remarkable journey.

It was a hospital stay, a trip to rehab, Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings and a whole lot of determination with love and support of everyone, and here was are with the Michelle that I fell in love with and not the one who was the most functional alcoholic that one could imagine.

I'm very proud of her and am so happy she decided to right the path, and return to being the one that everyone loves.

Give it up for this amazing woman.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

Looking for a little bit of free entertainment? The Hazel Ruby McQuain Concert series delivers yet once again this evening with Ressurection: A Journey Tribute which goes on at about 8:00 with a local band called Adrian and the Soul Miners opening the evening at 7:00. Grab you a chair and go listen to a little bit of free music on the waterfront.

Nothing else really planned this weekend, maybe a little bit of grass cutting will be on our agenda weather permitting. I'm sure we can manage to find something to do. Summer is about halfway over with and we really need to do something, just saying.

Have yourselves a great day.

This week's pic is one of my Dad when he was both alive and working, he was a coalminer by trade and it was something that he loved to do. He would always pack these big elaborate buckets as he called them to take to work with him.

I have no idea of the timeframe of this picture, but I'm going to guess the late 70's based simply on the style of bucket that he was using. By the time we moved to East Gate I'm pretty sure he was using a plastic coleman lunch pail, a red one as I recall, and not the round metal one seen here.

Have yourselves  great day

Monday

All good things must come to an end, but this is an exciting day to end the weekend on. Now we have to take our collective noses and stick them back onto that grindstone known as life and get back to doing what it is that we do for a living to make this a better rock to live on.

Let me preface by saying a few things, one weekends are way too short and I love our Blackstone, it is an amazing thing to have.

So what is coming up this week? We hired three new guys last week and have all been doing fine. They showed me for a couple of days and we are about ready to have their project ready and turn them loose.

I did go walking yesterday for the first time up at the mall, I think my siblings were a  little concerned with my working so much and lack of activity over the past couple of years, that they threatened to beat me up if I didn't go with them and get mobile. One step at a time is the way that I look at it. Maybe it's time to get the treeadmill cleaned off and ready.

Have a great day.

Sunday Morning Grumblings

Here I sit in a quiet household, just me and Kiwi are up and as usual he is his happy-go-lucky philosophizing self. He's just on his swing swinging away and singing the soundtrack from Grease. Such a talented little bird. He did tell me that a few of my siblings and my wife are talking to him and wanting me to go and walk with them this afternoon. Michelle wants to ride her bike, but we are going walking.

First of all let me give you a review of the Blackstone, forget just buying a grille. You also have to have all the accessories such as spray bottles, a number of sized spatulas, Avacado Oil, Olive Oil, conditioning grease to season it, a water battle, thermometer, baskets, a rolling food tray that is stainless steel and was sitting in the back of the garage and a few other things. Ay carumba, but let me tell you so far we have cooked on it twice this past week and let me tell you I would buy one again. Chicken fried rice and Hot Sausage Sandwiches were the first couple of things we cooked on it and let me tell you the food was amazing. I can't wait to do a hero burger or a smash burger on it.

So what is on today's agenda, well Michelle will do grocery shopping as I do a number of house chores this morning. Typical Sunday Morning for us. This afternoon around 3:00 we are scheduled to go to the mall and walk around the mall. It;s climate controlled, and has a lot of seats for my big fat butt to rest on occasion.

Have a great day, make it memorable.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit in a semi-quiet household, Rooster (otherwise known as Kiwi) doesn't believe in sleeping in. He keeps telling me that the early bird gets the worm and I had to remind him that he is a seeditarian, he doesn't eat earthworms.

We finally broke in the Blackstone this past week, Thursday night we did a chicken stir fry with fried rice and on the 4th of July we grilled up some Hot Sausage and Peppers and Onions as well as toasted the Keyser rolls on it. We had an old stainless steel cart in the back of the garage that we (as in Michelle) cleaned up and sanitized and that's where we store everything we cook on the blackstone or the charcoal grille.

So what is on our agenda this weekend, well Michelle had planned on going up to Julie's for a Pool Party, but the pool party has been postponed. So I guess that means a trip to Aldi and any other weekend tasks are in store this morning. We have had Gracie the past two weekends, and she is staying home this weekend. No puppies this weekend.

Have yourselves a great day, make it special and make it memorable.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

There are no free concerts this week down at the Amphitheater, but they are not going to disappoint you and this could be one worth attending. Shakespeare in the Park will be performing the Tempest, arguably one of my favorite Shakespearian play. I actually wrote a paper on the Tempest while I was in college. I remember watching a recording of the play where Ron Pallilo played Trinculo and David Graf played Stephano. Horshack (welcome back Kotter) and Tackelberry (Police Academy movies) pretty much stole the show. It's more than worth the time to see, if you have never seen Shakespeare performed you really are culturally missing something. I remember when I was in High School, a troop came through and performed Othello for us and everyone was totally captivated to the point that the troop by their own request wanted to come back to Morgantown to perform a Midsummer Night's Dream. Take the evening, take the kids, you will not be disappointed.

So wat is on my agenda for the weekend? Michelle was heading up to her Cousin Julie's for the weekend, but Julie rescheduled it until the first week in August when Michelle will be in Ohio for Brittany's Bachalorette party. They were going to have a pool party and I would have been  holding down the fort and taking care of the spoiled animals. Now I have to cancel all the giraffes that were planning to come up and party.

This week I thought I would post a video of an old family picnic down at Marilla Park. Many of these people are gone, and many new people have been added. Time marches on.

Tuesday's Tidbits

* Monday is completed and in our rearview mirrors, you know what that means. Time for a Tidbits.

* It has been 22,104 days since I was born, that is 21 years using my new,  new, and improved 1,045-day Calendar.

* It has been 7,357 days since I graduated from WVU with a Degree in Geography. Smartest move I ever made career-wise.

* 5,944 days ago Michelle and I had our first date together. Seems like it was just yesterday and it was the third best decision I ever made in my life.

* 5,155 days ago I proposed to Michelle in the backyard at 4:00 in the morning. She knew it was coming, and it was still the best decision I ever made in my life.

* It was 5,193 days ago in front of our closest friends and family, for the most part, Michelle and I became husband and wife at the Marilla Center, married by a chiropractor and feasted on food Jeanie made.

* I have now lived 2,330 days longer than my Dad did and I'm still going strong, slowing down but still going.

* Michelle has been living a clean and productive life and beat that alcohol demon 989 days ago today.

* My older Brother Jonathan lived 21,273 days, I've now outlived him by 847 days making me Senior Supreme Sibling once again!

* I have 2,757 days to go until I retire, give or take a few hundred days here or there, but I love doing what I do. Who knows though, doing what I do I may never retire.

* There are only 261 days to go until Spring 2025, my favorite season of the year.

* 215 more days until Phil steps to center stage once again for Groundhog Day. He and French Creek Freddie agreed on their predictions this year,  now let's just wait to see if they come true.

* 190 more days to go until my Goodbye 2024 Blog is posted. Hopefully, I can put some better content together this year.

* There are 176 more shopping days left until Christmas 2024. You still have plenty of time to prepare and get ready.

* There are 160 days until I hit the age of 61. Yeah I know, I'm really older than 21.

* There are 109 days until Brittany and Matt enter into the bonds of matrimony.

* There are 78 more days until we go to Pittsburgh and beat the Panther's butts in their stadium.

* There are 69 more days to go until the Mountaineers will try to get some revenge here in Morgantown for last weekend when Penn State comes to Morgantown.

* There are 41 more days to go until Michelle and I celebrate our Thirteenth Wedding Anniversary together.

* It has been ∞ (infinity symbol) days that I have hated both Pitt and Penn State.

* I have written 7,603 blogs in the now over 19 3/4 years of being a blogger. Wow, am I really coming up on 20 years as a Blogger?

* Older Drone still needs to be sent out for repairs, not a big priority at this time. My little drone is awesome and I really like it....when I take time out to fly it.

* I think I know where I want to do my next drone flight, out by the old county graveyard whenever I get to it.

* \I've been watching a lot of blackstone tips, ready to fire that thing up for real on Thursday.

* Still playing Monopoly Go. I'm still in 5th place among friends and family. I'm trying to catch up.

* How about I start doing my favorite Tic Tok of the week? I saw this one this week and thought to myself I should be doing this. The new dryer we bought earlier this year is like the second one where she removed the entire plate.

* I think our Cat Sophie is getting closer and closer to crossing that rainbow bridge. We bought her a new drinking bowl this past weekend, one where the water keeps running like a water fountain. She seems to really like it, it's her natural height and it seems like it is easier for her to drink. Peanut, she likes the toilet water. with the Bleach in it.

* Have a great day.

Monday

All good things must come to an end, but this is an exciting day to end the weekend on. Now we have to take our collective noses and stick them back onto that grindstone known as life and get back to doing what it is that we do for a living to make this a better rock to live on.

A fresh new week at work, the two people in charge are traveling today and we have three new hires coming on including one I have worked with at my last couple of jobs. Happy to assist the new guys, and help them get started.

I don't know what this week holds for us, but we are about to get swamped with work in the very near future. What I have been working on has been non-billable as it is all internal, but we have a lot of billable work coming up and I call that job security.

Looking at the week ahead, I plan on working if there is work on the 4th. Being a contractor you don't get paid holidays so if you want paid for them you have to work them. Happily this company lets me work, where as Duquense Light needed a staff position supervisor available and Atmos would let you make up the hours throughout the week. I'm not planning on going anywhere, Michelle is off so she can do any running around that is needed on Thursday and we'll treat it like any other day.

Have yourselves a great day and the start of a productive week.

Sunday

Here Roosterr, aka Kiwi, sit in a semi-quiet household. Kiwi is busy in his cage going internet searches for things that he wants. He's a picky little bugger and likes things the way he likes them.

Michelle and I had a pretty busy day yesterday. It started out at Aldi's to start our weekly grocery shopping, Michelle is heading to Krogers this morning as I do other tasks.

After Aldi's it was up Rt 857 to Harry's Custom Meats where we ordered some food for the freezer. It's the best meat around and the best price, especially if you have a freezer.

As we are coming back from Harry's, my lovely wife indicated that she would like to have a Blackstone. We started to research them as were were putting our meat and groceries away. So once we had that taken care of, it was off to Petsmart. We bought the cats a new drinking bowl, a constantly running fountain with a filter, and a large reservoir. Michelle said Hayley has 3 of them and she loves them.

From there, it was off to Lowes for the Blackstone we decided we wanted. We could have gotten a larger one, but that would have just been overkill and this was plenty big enough for me. You know what I want, a Hero Burger.. Both Michelle and I loved them and miss them, this thing will be perfect to make our own. Also got a number of chefs tools like you would see the chefs at Fusion Steakhouse would use. We still need to season it before using it.

What did we do after that? Put the grill together of course, as Michelle was riding around on the mower cutting the grass. We stayed ahead of the storms and it's all done.

Yay us.

Have a great day.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit with my local Valley Rooster, otherwise known as Kiwi, in what used to be a quiet household. That's up until Kiwi lets everyone know when he wants to get up, he said he has a job alerting the roosters and that is his contribution. So thank Kiwi for waking everyone else up.

So what is on today's agenda? Michelle is going to go to Aldi, we both may make a trip to Harry's to stock up a little bit and I need to cut grass. Oh and of course we can not forget that Gracie is once again going to be staying the night as Tyer is going to Lewisburg to pick Hayley up as she stayed down there all week. We've already got her greenies and a new toy we bought her last week, so she should be good to go.

Yesterday was a strange one in the valley. They are moving the water lines across the street to our side and they were scheduled to have all the water shut off from the top of Van Voorhis until they could tie in the lew line. It was supposed to be shut off from 9:00-2:00 yesterday. Of course, it was over 90° yesterday and a 5-hour job turned into a 7-hour job, where they just happen to finish and turn the water on at about...their quitting time. People were complaining about the traffic down here and everyone was advised to take an alternate route, but we live smack dab in the middle of it, and there are no alternate routes for us.

The important news is the workweek has completed, it's the weekend which mean I'm going to Tudors for Breakfast.

Have a great day.

The Hazel Ruby McQuain Concert series delivers yet once again this evening with Starship Featuring Mickey Thomas tonight at 8:00. Mickey Thomas first found fame as the lead singer of the Elvin Bishop Group. Then he went to starship (who was Jefferson Airplane, Then Jefferson Starship before taking the name Starship). Thomas was originally a co-lead singer with the Legendary Grace Slick before she retired. The The Parachute Brigade will open the nights festivities. It should be a good night of entertainment.

We may be getting Gracie again this evening or tomorrow night as Tyler will drop her off on his way down to pick up Hayley in Petersburg. Last week I got her some Greenies and a purple blow up toy, that we were smart enough to keep this week rather than sending them home with Tyler. That way they'll be here when she comes back.

Have yourselves a great day, let's get this party started.

Every boy needs a dog, that was my creed as I tried to convince Grandma that I wanted a dog. I thnk Dad and Glenna Mae both helped my cause and convinced Grandma to let me get a dog. I can't remember who took me to the dog pound, might have been Dad or Ralph or Glenna Mae, but they took me to the pound where I found one dog that really wanted my attention. He also looked like Dad's old Dog Brownie. I got to pick my dog, and we welcomed Rocky into the family.

Rocky still had a wild streak in him, when he would break the clothes line leash he would run, run to find himself some companionship and there was no catching him. After two or three days he would always come back home, but hew was in fact a wild one.

Have yourselves a great day.

* Still playing Monopoly Go. I have actually moved up to 6th place on my friends list. I passed Bub who was the first to start playing. Of course he retired from the game....

* How about I start doing my favorite Tic Tok of the week? Looking for a Remote Job? This might be a good place to start your look.

* I think our Cat Sophie is getting closer and closer to crossing that rainbow bridge. The once-fat cat is pretty much paper thin, we're just making her comfortable at this point. She is hanging on and enjoying life though, we're making her comfortable. She's always been bossy.

Monday

All good things must come to an end, but this is an exciting day to end the weekend on. Now we have to take our collective noses and stick them back onto that grindstone known as life and get back to doing what it is that we do for a living to make this a better rock to live on.

Looking at my week ahead, nothing really big on the agenda, just working as I usually have. Ever since I came to EPE I have been trying to get a former co-worker hired on as well. We worked together for Duquense Light and then for Matrix and he didn't care for the smallworld software either, so he left. He interviewed with us on Thursday and got his offer letter on Friday. I think he'll be great addition to our team. It always feels good when you can give someone career assistance. Not sure of his specific start date, but has his offer in hand. He lives in New York, but is a WVU Graduate.

They have been moving the water line on Van Voorhis, over to my side of the street. The entrance to my driveway has gotten worse and worse and the nic guys from MUB, paved the entrance for me since they had to dig everything up. It's just a short fix, as they will be widening the road starting soon. Water and sewer lines are now on my side of the road.

Have a great day.

Sunday Morning Rambling

Here I sit in a quiet household, Kiwi is up just singing away, he's a big fan of the Bee Gees so he has his disco ball going as he's singing Staying alive. He's such a happy bird with a big personality, he is definitely my little buddy.

We have Gracie and have had her since Friday, Peanut is starting to come around to her presence, so that's a good thing. Hayley and Tyler are down in Petersburg, Tyler will be coming home tonight and will pick up Gracie but Hayley is staying down there for the week with Tyler going back down to pick her up next week. Did I mention we get Gracie next weekend for a night as well.

I did make a couple purchases this week, I bought a leg massager that pumps up and releases pressure for 20 minutes. It's got heat with it to and I got it on sale, so I got a real good price on it. I also made not only one, but a Second set of compression socks for my legs and feet. I also got a spray on Spray on neuropathy creme. Michelle usually rubs the creme in when my feet start to hurt,. now I have this spray on battle that makes it so much easier. I'm alright during the day but have noticed my calves and feet have been retaining water as the day goes on, so bought a few products to help assist with that. My first set of socks ended up going to Amazon Locker, which is in the back of Gabes.

No big plans for the day, grass really isn't high enough to cut so I will let it go for another week.

Have yourselves a great day.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here Kiwi and I sit in the early AM, we're up discussing the events of the day. He's wondering why Gracie is here and I had to explain to him Hayley and Tyler dropped her off yesterday and we'll be watching her until tomorrow as they are going out of town. Peanut is in hiding once again, she doesn't like other people or animals being here, she almost pouts. Kiwi thinks she's a whimp and I have to agree.

So what is on today's agenda? Michelle will take a trip to ALDI to start off the weekly grocery shopping. I may assess what the lawn looks like and may cut it if it is long enough. It was hot all week, with one big storm that knocked much of the power out around town for a day or so. My lights flickered a few times, but never lost power, we were lucky.

It looks like the higher heats will be around for a while, with a couple showers mixed in between now and the 4th, that and MUB pretty much has the front of the yard torn up as they are moving the main utility lines from the other side of the street to our side of the street in anticipation of Van Voorhis being widened in front of the house and a new bridge going over the creek. That means I have less grass to cut, but I have to do a lot of maneuvering around the yard to avoid posts and such as the construction is getting started.

Have yourselves a great day, make the most of it.

The Hazel Ruby McQuain Concert series delivers yet once again this evening with Sara Evans taking the stage tonight. Grab yourself whatever you need and head on down for a great night of music and entertainment.

No plans to my knowledge for us this weekend, or should I say that I know of as of presstime (my editor is a real pain in the but about me meeting my blog deadlines). Kiwi will probably have some input on what the weekend will have in store, he's been in his cage his pacing back and forth trying to come up with his next brilliant idea.

Have yourselves a great day.

No idea of the time of this picture, as I was still unheard of. If I had to guess a date I would guess the early to mid 1950's as this is a picture of my Dad on his by the count of the candles 5th Birthday. I do see he got himself a brand new radio flyer wagon, I wonder if that is why I had one around the same age.

This picture was taken down at the Old House down in Van Voorhis. Another View. Grandma and Grandpa owned both homes, the one was our garage and as I recall the washhouse.

Happy Birthday Erica Jean Nicholson

I would like to take this opportunity to wish my great niece Erica a very Happy Birthday today. If my math serves me correctly, she should be turning 20 years old today.

Seems like it was just yesterday when we were all at the Hospital awaiting her arrival and here we are 20 years later with her already grown up, working and building her own life.

Not sure what if any plans there are for her today, and I don't even know what she has planned, but if you happen to see this young lady, wish her the Happiest of Birthdays.

Happy Birthday, Erica.

Back At It

All good things must come to an end, but this is an exciting day to end the weekend on. Now we have to take our collective noses and stick them back onto that grindstone known as life and get back to doing what it is that we do for a living to make this a better rock to live on.

Looking at my week ahead it's the same as last week pretty much, but with no Doctor's Appointments lined up. Believe it or not, I was down about 20 pounds from my visit last year, I'm not really dieting nor was I trying, but I'm not going to complain.

It's scheduled to be hot for a few days this week, with temperatures approaching the 90° range for a few days, so if you are out take precautions and wear sunscreen and appropriate protection from the sun.

If you are or are not a Basketball fan, game 5 of the NBA Finals are tonight with the Boston Celtics having a 3-1 lead and on the verge of being NBA Champions. The Celtics are coached by former WVU star Joe Mazzula, so if you have time watch one of our former players coach his team to an NBA Title. He could be the first coach from WVU to win an NBA Title, although he is the fourth to be an NBA Coach, Jerry West, Fred Schaus and Rod Thorn all preceded him in that accomplishment.

Have yourselves a great day

Sunday

Here I sit on a quiet Sunday Morning, Kiwi had drawn up a schematic on how I should have cut grass yesterday instead of how I did. He said he was monitoring us on the Ring Cameras and that us Humans don't have the bird's eye view that he does. I think he's mad because I wouldn't let him drive the lawn tractor around the yard.

We had a busy day yesterday, Michelle started the day with a trip to Aldi's before we went to Christopher's Graduation Party at Krepps Park. No my little buddy Rocky was not up here for the party, I'm a little sad. I did get to see Michael however as he was in town. It was nice to see everyone and spend a little bit of time with them.

After that we came home and cut Grass, spoke to my brother Gary briefly before hand, but I was being watched and critiqued on my grass cutting style by some un-named bird. He's a know it all, or at least he thinks that he is.

After that we dropped something off to Val that she requested, Aaron was working so we took her out to dinner at Apple Annies. It was a good time, as their food is always really good. Before heading home we ended up going to Mountaineer Country Ice Cream on Point Marion Road.

Have yourselves a great day.

Saturday Morning Rambling

Here I sit in a semi-quiet household, Kiwi is up trying to entertain me by singing his favorite Opera tunes, Kiwi seems to love opera for some reason. He's just got his little birdie headphones on in there just a jamming away.

Our old neighbors will be in town today. Ashley and Christopher will be having Christopher's Graduation Party this afternoon at Krepps Park. Christopher is Michael's son who moved to South Carolina a few years ago with his Mom and my little buddy Rocky....who I do hope to see today. It's been a few years since I have seen the little rock of love, and today is the day as Michelle and I have been invited to Krepps to see everyone.

Other plans for the day depend upon the weather, I would like to get grass cut sometime today, weather permitting. I let it go last weekend and it's due to be cut again.

There was some very sad news this past week, WVU and NBA Legend Jerry West passed away. Whern I first saw the news I thought it was a joke like so many other celebrity hoaxes, but unfortunately it was true.

Have yourselves a great day today.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

If you are looking for a little cheap, and when I say cheap I mean Free entertainment this evening. The Hazel Ruby McQuain Ampitheatre is hosting a concert this evening. Ace Frehley, the original lead guitarist for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band Kiss will be here in Morgantown giving a free concert down on the waterfront.

Plans for the weekend other than working? Michael's son Christopher just recently graduated HS in South Carolina and Ashley is going to throw a Graduation Party for him here in Morgantown tomorrow that we are invited to. It'll be good to see that clan as we haven't seen them in a few years.

Have yourselves a great day and lets get this party started.

Sometimes this is a pretty easy task and sometimes it's not that easy, one thing it has always been a lot of fun.

This pic is special and memorable. It's from the old friends and family picnics we used to have at Krepps Park. We had the picnic and my cousin Heather showed up from Ohio after everyone had left and we were cleaning things up. I called Kim and Mom and Gerald and everyone came back to the pavilion so they could visit with Heather and her Mom.

A few months after this, Heather died in a car wreck in Ohio. She was traveling to see her first grandchild that either was born or was about to be born and she managed to get into a fatal car wreck ending her life.

Never let a chance to create a memory or even capture it with a camera slip away. We just don't know what tomorrow has to offer.

Have yourselves a great day.
