Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out and look through some of the pictures that I have either taken, scanned or stolen off of the internet through the years and find one special picture that stands out. Little lost moments in time from yesterday caught with a Cameras lens and relived right here in my blog. Sometimes it's pretty easy to find that one special picture and sometimes it's not that easy, one thing it consistently is however is a whole lot of fun.

This weeks pic goes back to the last year I actually did anything on Halloween, it was four years ago and the first Halloween that wasn't up at East Gate, Amy and Ralph hosted the Wizard of Oz theme for the evening and Ralphie drove everyone around on a wagon on his Four-wheeler.

I know the kids had a lot of fun and it was a new chapter to Halloween after closing the old one. Amy and Ralph did a wonderful job hosting it that year.

Have yourselves a great day today

Tuesday's Tidbits

* Pupils are back to normal, can't think of a better reason to do a tidbits.

* It has been 20,418 days since my birth, that's a lot of days and I'm starting to really accumulate them.

* It has been 5,644 days since I graduated from WVU with a Degree in Geography, minors in History and Communications. It's amazing how I use all of them in my career.

* 4,245 days ago Michelle and I had our first date together, she still loves me all these years later.

* 3,469 days ago I proposed to Michelle, best decision that I have ever made in my life.

* It was 3,000 days ago in front of our closest friends and family, Michelle and I got ourselves hitched. Best 3,000 days of my life.

* I have now lived 632 days longer than my Dad did and I'm still going. He definitely passed away at too young of an age.

* I have 4,431 days to go until I retire, give or take a few hundred days here or there, like I said I love what I do and who knows when I would retire. We are going to lose three people who I work with in the next couple of months.

* The next Backyard brawl where we beat Pitt's ass in Football is only 1,038 days away. Bring on the Kitties

* There are 281 more days to go until Michelle and I celebrate our Ninth Wedding Anniversary together.

* There are only 143 days until the start Spring 2020, the time of the year that I love so much.

* 96 more days until Phil steps to center stage again for Groundhogs Day. I have treated Phil well this summer, hopefully he returns the favor on this day.

* 80 more days to go until my Goodbye 2019 Blog is posted, something tells me this one is going to be difficult to write this year.

* There are 56 more shopping days left until Christmas 2019. Time to start planning for shopping.

* My next Anniversary of my 21st Birthday will be in 34 more days, this should be about my 35th Anniversary of it, or would it be the 14th Anniversary of the 21st Anniversary of my 21st Birthday?

* I have written 5,810 blogs in the now 15 years since I started blogging. I'm still a chugging along with my writing.

* No drone flights this weekend, but that has pretty much been my recurring theme this year with that.

* I'm still looking for a cheap riding lawn mower, something tells me prices are going to be dropping soon.

*  We went to Harry's this past weekend, Michelle made 8 Meat Loafs and 63 big meat balls that are all occupying space in our freezer.

* We finally got the furnace fired up for the winter, we had it shut down for the summer but a few colder nights and we realized it needs to be on.

* Have I ever mentioned I hate snow? Even with all the heat, I still hate snow.

* They STILL have not found Mountie Python, the 15' snake that escaped in Sabraton this summer.. He even has his own twitter account.

* I'm STILL converting some old VHS tapes to Digital Format for Trish. I really need to get back on this as I am such a procrastinator.

* Have yourselves a great day.

Monday Dilated Monday

Well that fun filled thing that all of you refer to as a weekend is over with, now it is time for us to take our collective noses to the grindstones and get back to doing what it is we do.

I'm only working one job today and it's even going to be a shorter day for me as I am going to leave early and make it a short day.

Why you ask? I am having my diabetic eye exam and will have my pupils dilated this afternoon to see if there are any problems with them or any damage from the diabetes. It's something that needs done yearly when you are diabetic and I've put it off for a couple of years. Michelle is coming home early as well to drive me home since they don't want you driving with your pupils dilated.

Looking at my week ahead, the Morale Subcommittee meets once again this week. I'm a member of it and was one of the judges for the decorating contest, this is our last meeting prior to our Halloween event. Our next one should be later in the year around the Holidays.

Have yourselves a great day.

Sunday

Here I sit in a quiet household once again, my weekend co-author is sitting right here by my side and we are both in deep thought. Peanut is thinking of how she can sneak her little butt outside or what can she do to get treats, I'm just contemplating what a horrible football season this has been all around.

My day is going to be the typical shopping, then going out to work for the day. I'll be traveling east today to work as opposed to me going South yesterday. To me Sunday is the roughest day to work, you really can't start before noonish as people in the rural areas tend to be in church, which means I have to work later into the afternoon than I do on say a Saturday.

Michelle took a trip to Harry's yesterday, she made 8 meat loafs, 64 good sized meat balls and bought a few other random things to throw in the freezer to last us for a while (who am I kidding, my big freezer is packed). She was busy yesterday to say the least. We'll probably make one more trip up there this year to get some Hot Sausage for Christmas Eve.

Have a Doctors appointment tomorrow, but that just goes to show you how boring of a life I live at times. Want more proof, today is day 28 of consecutive days worked from one job or the other. My last day off was September 29th.

Have yourselves a great day today.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit on a quiet Saturday Morning, I'm sitting here wondering why I haven't turned the heat on yet and staring at my lazy co-author asleep in my recliner and planning out my day.

It's going to be day 27 straight for me between working one job, the other or both. I can honestly see this streak going until Thanksgiving even though Veteran's Day is coming up in a few weeks. You never know though, I may go out and work that day as well. Today I'm tackling a new segment and will be heading south to work. My local segment is pretty much worked down and the one to the west doesn't need two straight days  of me knocking on doors where no one is home, so I'm tackling a new segment since we still have yet to fill the position for the region I am working today. It's new challenges for me, so the day should go pretty quick and I shouldn't be too bored.

Michelle is going to take a trip up to Harry's this morning, time to restock our freezer a little bit and there is no better place to buy fresh meat than a real butchers shop. Prices are better, quality is better and they are sometimes literally cutting the meat off the animal to sell it to us.

WVU is off today and will play Baylor Thursday Night. That should be the end of murderers row for our schedule and we can start jockeying for position with the remaining teams on our schedule. Basketball is in the preseason part of the year and are less than two weeks away from the start of their season.

Have yourselves a great day today.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes it is once again that time of the week that we all look foreword to, when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

Looking for a littler bit of High School Football action? Clay Battelle is traveling to Conotton Valley (OH) this evening to take them on. Trinity is at home against Tygarts Valley. University High at 3-5 travels to Kingwood to take on Preston. The embarrassment of an Alma Mater Morgantown Mohigans travel to Moundsville to get beaten to a pulp by John Marshall.

The Mountaineers are off this weekend but will travel on Halloween to take on Baylor. It is definitely a rebuilding year here in Morgantown, just make sure you don't lose sight of that and realize Neal Brown is a pretty good coach that will see us through all of that.

My weekend plans, I'll be out doing field work once again, Hopefully I'll have this segment worked down and will be ready to tackle another challenge.

Have yourselves a great day.

This weeks pic goes clear back to 2015. Michelle had ordered some sister bracelets for Dani and Chris. It was Abbies graduation Party and this was the first chance that they three of them had a chance to wear them and pose with them.

I know it was something very special to Michelle, she wanted them as soon as she saw them.

Have yourselves a great day.

Hump Day

Well that is two days down, well for me that is 22 days down, but that is just me, now most of you have a couple of days ahead of you and then it will once again be another fun filled weekend.

I know my sisters will be returning from their Girls trip to New York City sometime today. They left Saturday morning and will be returning today. It was a girls trip as all of the men were left at home and had to take care of the home fronts.

I know Kim and Brittany have been there numerous times, Terri I think that this was her third trip. Now as far as Val, Amy and Erica, they all got their first chance to see the Big Apple. Something I have yet to do believe it or not. I hope everyone had a great time, I'm sure I'll hear a nice story or two about their trip.

Have yourselves a Great Day.

Tuesday's Tidbits

* Sisters are enjoying their trip to the big Apple, good reason to do a tidbits.

* It has been 20,411 days since my birth, maybe if we reported our age in days, it wouldn't see, so bad.

* It has been 5,637 days since I graduated from WVU with a Degree in Geography. All these years later and I'm still specializing in what I studied in college.

* 4,238 days ago Michelle and I had our first date together, Pizza Hut and the movie 10,000 BC.

* 3,462 days ago I proposed to Michelle, best decision that I have ever made in my life.

* It was 2,993 days ago in front of our closest friends and family, Michelle and I tied poured some sand in a bottle and agreed to a few choice words read by her co-worker and poof, her last name  changed. Next Tuesday we will be celebrating 3,000 days of wedded bliss.

* I have now lived 625 days longer than my Dad did and I'm still going. He definitely passed away at too young of an age.

* I have 4,438 days to go until I retire, give or take a few hundred days here or there, like I said I love what I do and who knows when I would retire. We are going to lose three people who I work with in the next couple of months.

* There are 63 more shopping days left until Christmas 2019. Michelle has already gotten our our towne for 2019. She saw it and had to have it. HERE, I think this goes with Michelle's cookie factory. Gary and I are opening up a Taco Truck..lol

* No drone flights this weekend, but that has pretty much been my recurring theme this year with that.

* I'm still looking for a cheap riding lawn mower, something tells me prices are going to be dropping soon.

* Michelle and I have been buying these Home Chef Meals from Krogers. They have 6 or 7 each week to choose from and they have all been pretty awesome. They give you all the raw ingredients you need and a recipe card to follow. We have a number of these cards in case we ever want to repeat any meals on our own.

* Jeanetta is doing a Pampered Chef party now to follow up Val's.

* Have I ever mentioned I hate snow? Even with all the heat, I still hate snow.

* They STILL have not found Mountie Python, the 15' snake that escaped in Sabraton this summer.. He even has his own twitter account.

Monday Monday

Well that fun filled thing that everyone else refers to as weekend and I call days to work is over with. Now it is time for the rest of the workforce to strap em on and put those noses back onto the grindstone for another fun filled week of doing what it is we do for a living.

Looking at my week ahead, it all looks pretty wide open. I'll go out working for RTI this evening, but this is probably the only day of the regular work week that I will be doing that. I'll just be working one job through Friday after today unless something comes up and changes that.

Michelle found something out about her other job, the Vet has sold the practice and that means she will probably be quitting there in the very near future. Her career job is taking off and pays much much better, so it's not like she needs the job or is even still interested in it, especially now that it has been sold. She's been there about a year and a half, maybe it's just time to move on from that part time job.

Have yourselves a great day

Sunday

Here me and my co-author sit on a quiet Sunday Morning, we're both up and collecting our thoughts for the day. We're watching Life as We Know it on HBO and Peanut is having fun sticking her butt in my face as I try to write this. She can have her way of dominating the moment and getting my attention.

My plans for the day, heading out to work yet once again later this morning. Traveling once again to a distant county to try to some screenings and obtain some interviews. I had a pretty good day yesterday, hopefully today can be just as productive and I can dwindle this segment down and tackle one south of here.

Michelle had a good time yesterday at Trunk or Treat, we bought a lot of candy Friday evening with the anticipation that they were going to have East Gate proportions of children show up, needless to say our Candy bowl is full. She took the Company Jeep up and used it rather than using Ice, that way Extreme Labor can get a little cheap as in free advertising because the Jeep is wrapped with the company logo.

The Mountaineers played Oklahoma yesterday, fortunately I didn't have to observe that massacre as the Sooners were just way too much for this young group of Mountaineers. It was pretty ugly.

Have yourselves a great day today, Peanut will.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit once again on an early Saturday Morning, my weekend co-author Peanut was talking to me but must have decided to lay back down leaving me all alone to write this. Thanks Peanut.

Let's see, my sisters and nieces are leaving this morning for their long weekend in the Big Apple. They are leaving this morning and will be there until Wednesday of the coming week. I hope they have a good safe and educational trip.

Michelle will be at Woodland United Methodist Church today from 11:00-1:00 as they will be hosting Trunk or Treat. She is going to decorate Ice and has a Calderon full of delicious treats, take the kids on up and visit my lovely wife.

Me, I'm traveling to work today and tomorrow. My largest segment is not in Morgantown and I have to travel to it, so it is one that will take up my weekends for a while. I'm hoping to have some time off sometime around Thanksgiving.

Speaking of RTI, Michelle has decided that she is going to travel with me to St. Louis once again this January. I'll be in class and she'll be running around downtown St Louis and enjoying herself. WE made it down to the Arch the first year, but the Arch was closed for renovations,  we didn't make it there last year but plan on visiting it this year. I'm just waiting on my final itinerary to buy her plane tickets.

Have yourselves a great day.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes it is once again that time of the week that we all look foreword to, when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday and an extended weekend for me (not really).

Looking for a littler bit of High School Football action? Well let's start to talk about Clay Battelle, they are the pride of Monongalia County right now with their 4-2 record and will be taking on Cameron this evening at Cameron. University at 2-5 travels to the 1-5 Buckhannon-Upshur Buck Ups. 1-6 Morgantown is at home hosting undefeated Parkersburg South. Worst Mohigan team in my lifetime.

Wanting some college Football? West Virginia is on the road and there is absolutely nothing that they have shown me this year that would even make me think we can upset Oklahoma tomorrow. It's going to be a long season, but Basketball is right around the corner.

This weeks pic goes all the way back a few years.. Tonya was in the hospital and Gary came down to spend the day with her, so I stopped by the hospital to pay a visit as did Val. I would say that is a motley looking crew, lol.

I could not let the opportunity pass as I don't get to see Gary that often to take a picture with him.

Have yourselves a great day.

Hump Day

That's two days down now, now it's time to get up on your tippy toes and take a good long look. There, just past the photo flashback, can you see it? Look hard, it's the dawn of another weekend off in the distance, we're going up and over that workweek hump today. Woot Woot.

Of course I don't really know what I'm getting excited about, I'm out working not only the office job but the RTI Job this evening and this will be the only day this week where I actually go to work on both jobs.

Other than that not too much to say, I think Kim, Terri, Val, Any and Erica are leaving today or soon to spend a long weekend in New York City, but I'm not sure on the dates.

Have yourselves a great day

Happy Birthday Brittany Dae Cummings

I would love to take this time out to wish my beautiful niece Brittany a very Happy Birthday today.

It seems like it was only yesterday that she was born, it's amazing how 29 years can go by in the very blink of an eye.

She is an amazing young women, and I know she and Kim, Terri, Val, Amy and Erica are all planning on a trip to New York City, not sure when they are leaving if it is not today, but they plan on being there for the next few days taking in the sights.

If you get a chance to see or talk to Brittany today, make sure that you take a little bit of time out and wish her the Happiest of Birthdays today.

Happy Birthday Brittany.

Columbus Day

It's day three of my three day holiday but working weekend. All of those who celebrate Federal Holiday's, this is one where I have worked all weekend and that will include me going out and working today as well. Other than that it is Monday.

After a weekend of running around Preston County, now I'm going to run around Mon County today and try to get a few interviews for the SAMHSA Study. I'm just that kind of a guy to sacrifice my days off doing this.

Today is kind of a celebration for me, it was 11 years ago today that I started working at NETL. I initially went in with a company called SAIC, switched to Sextant for the next 11 years and am now with AECOM. Everyone else gets a Holiday today, me I'm out in the field...lol

Saturday Morning Rambling

Here I sit in the early AM, Peanutless as my co-author is still in bed with Mommy. I'm up a little early catching my thoughts for the day and trying to wake up. Larry Crowne is playing in the background and I'm still wiping the sleep from my eyes.

The Mountaineers are at home once again today and will be hosting Iowa State. The Cyclones were our worst game last year and beat us pretty handily, so Neal Brown and crew will have to have the perfect gameplan and execution will have to be perfect if the Mountaineers want to walk away at the end of the day with a win. We are an 11 point underdog at home but it is not an impossible task.

I'll be heading east this morning as I'm once again out working for RTI today. I do have a three day weekend from my regular job and will be working today and tomorrow in Preston County and will be working here in Morgantown on Monday, so that will pretty much be the extent of my extended Holiday weekend. I don't see any days off for me in the month of October and possibly not until Thanksgiving will I have time off to be honest.

Have yourselves a great day

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes it is once again that time of the week that we all look foreword to, when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday and an extended weekend for me (not really).

Looking for a littler bit of High School Football action? Well the Mohigans played again last night, if that is what you call this disappointing season. The University High Hawks are home and will be taking on Mountain Ridge (MD). Clay Battelle travels to Paden City. Trinity is idle this week and next, and is off until the 25th.

The Mountaineers are at home once again this weekend as they will play host to Iowa State at 4:00. The game will be broadcast on ESPN and we are hoping for a good game and hopefully be able to get some revenge for last years loss.

Have yourselves a great day.

This weeks picture takes us back to 2011, it was Mine and Michelle's Honeymoon and we went to Ocean City, Maryland for a few days. Every morning I would make Michelle get up and go down to the beach with me so that we could watch the sun rise over the ocean. An almost majestic view a it is something that I love to do. There is just something magical about watching a sunrise or sunset over the ocean, although I'm a sunrise kind of guy.

This picture was taken there our last day, right before we started to head back home. We wanted to see the sun rise one final time and that is when this picture was taken. It was an eventful week of run, run and more run for us, but it was a memorable honeymoon. Would you believe we spend less money on cruises than we did for those few days of running around.

Hump Day

Two days are behind us, two more ahead of us (or should I say most of you), now all we have to do is get up and over this noon time hump and it will be all downhill as we work towards another fun filled weekend.

Just some mid week odds and ends and a reminder to everyone that tomorrow is Moke and Ang's 9th Wedding Anniversary. Seems like only yesterday but it has been nine short years, time moves too fast I  swear.

Nothing much going on for me, Michelle and I are just chugging along and working towards the next day. This will be another day that I am out in the field doing fieldwork.

One thing I am wondering is how my end of the year blog will look, more than any other year I think I have pretty much mailed in my blogs every week. I went from writing it daily, to writing all the weekly blogs during the week to make sure that one is published. It's almost becoming a redundant task that I keep doing just for the sake of doing it. I don't think I have missed a day of blogging since 2006, anymore it just feels like a fight to write it and come up with any meaningful content.

Have yourselves a great day.

Ready Set...I'm already going

All good things must come to an end, and that does in fact include those fun filled things that many of you refer to as weekends, I refer to them as days I'm working out in the field. So it's time to stick our collective noses back onto the grindstone for another fun filled week of doing what we do for a living.

Looking at my week ahead, I'll be doing field work for RTI tonight and Wednesday Night. I like to do a couple of days during the week, takes a little pressure off of the weekends.

Michelle will also be working this evening after work, believe it or not we do see each other occasionally..lol

One good thing about this week, next weekend is a three day weekend for me with Columbus Day being celebrated next Monday. Not sure if I'll head out into the field or just relax, but it will mark my 11th Anniversary at NETL. It's nice they give everyone a day off on my Anniversary...lol

Have yourselves a great day.

Sunday

Here I sit with my meowing co-author peanut once again, she's up and has been all over my keyboard, I think she works for treats. We're sitting here planning out our day and reflecting upon our yesterday.

Well the Mountaineers gave Texas everything they had yesterday, but came up a little short in a 42-31 loss to the Longhorns. Turnovers killed the Mountaineers and were pretty much what prevented us from winning yesterday. It was still a good effort and we are still a building team, Trust the climb.

The Steelers play the Ravens today at 1:00, but I'll have to take a rain check on that one as I will be out doing field work this afternoon. I'm back out on the field today and starting a new work week altogether for both jobs.

Michelle said Jim and Chris had a good auction yesterday, said they registered a number of new people into the system, I know Michelle came home with a bunch of Halloween decorations last night. She also came home with a brownie with butter cream icing on it, oh my glucose levels are not going to like that...lol

Have yourselves a great day,  Peanut said to tell everyone Meow.

Saturday Morning Rambling

Here I sit once again in a quiet household, I'm up a little early starting to wake up and plan out my day and trying to brush the sleep from my eyes. Last weeks co-author Peanut is taking this Saturday off and sleeping somewhere.

It's arguably the biggest football Saturday of the year here in Morgantown. The University of Texas is in town and it is also homecoming. The 1969 Peach Bowl team will be honored today and Hall of Fame Coach Bobby Bowden is in town as well. There are probably a few celebs here and the game will be broadcast at 3:30 on ABC.

Me and my day, I'm out working today for RTI. I have two segments, one is a smaller one here in town that I  work during the week and one that is much larger that is in another county that I will be traveling to. I listed this segment and also worked it last year, so I am quite familiar with it. I'll be spending a number of weekends up there for the next month and a half most likely.

Jim and Chris will be having their Fall Fest Fun Auction this evening at Woodland United Methodist Church on the Mileground. The Auction starts at 6:00 this evening. I think Michelle will be working the Auction, I'll be home cussing at the TV screen....lol

Have yourselves a great day.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes it is once again that time of the week that we all look foreword to, when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

Looking for a littler bit of High School Football action? 2-3 University High travels just across the border to take on Albert Gallatin High School. Funny thing is that other than cross town rival Morgantown, this is the closest school to University High and I'm surprised I can't really recall them playing too many times if ever. 1-4 Morgantown travels to Musselman. Clay Battelle at 2-2  is hosting Calhoun County out in Blacksville and 2-1 Trinity is playing host to Madonna.

A word to the wise, it is Homecoming Weekend here in Morgantown and we are playing the University of Texas tomorrow. Barstool Sports is doing their version of Gameday from here and this will be the biggest Football Weekend in town this year. Traffic will most likely be greatly increased with many visitors that we will be welcoming this weekend. If you are planning on doing any travel around town, allow yourself a little bit of extra time.

Have yourselves a great weekend for those of you who get to enjoy it.

This weeks pic is from Michelle's Phone earlier this year when we went to San Diego. Of course this is the famous St Louis Arch that she took a picture of as she was on the bridge straddling Illinois and Missouri over the Mighty Mississippi River.

I was in class all day and Michelle took to the city to do some more exploring, this was her second trip to St Louis and my third. I will be going back a fourth time this January, whether or not Michelle makes the return trip with me is still up in the air. It all depends on her office and how things are going there. If it's slow I'm sure she'll be in St Louis with me, if not I'll fly out alone again.

Have yourselves a great day.

On this Day

It was on this day in 1973, or 46 years ago, that I suffered the worst injury of my life and one that literally took months for me to recover from.

I was a young child playing pickup football across the street from where I lived on a muddy Intramural Field where Mountainview Regional Rehabilitaion Hospital now sits. It was rainy, but no matter, I was full of energy and found some guys to play football with.

I wasn't hit or anything like that, my left leg slipped out from under me and I ended up doing a perfect split. Although I was young and flexible, it wasn't a good type of split. I ended up with a green stick fracture on my left Femur. The bone broke up and smashed in together somehow and it was a much worse than it sounds.

The recovery process included me having surgery and a pin drilled through my leg so they could but me in Traction. That was a month long stay in the hospital with a leg looking like Frankenstein. After a month of that I was put into a body cast which was the left leg all the way up to my chest and the right leg all the way down to my knee. To say I spent the next six weeks immobile was an understatement. I come out of the body cast and for the next two weeks my leg locks up with 0 mobility and bent at a 45° angle. Then it was back into traction (although no pin needed drilled this time) to straighten my leg out and that took two weeks. After that I went back into a straight leg cast for two weeks and was told to work it for a couple of weeks which was pretty much the end of the recovery.

I was out of school, with a private tutor, for a total of about 18 consecutive weeks. I left school in early October and didn't return until some time after the Holidays and new year and well into February.

Grandma Hall was with me every day and was the best caretaker anyone could ever ask for. Except for when she put milk of magnesia into my milk and told me the old milk company went out of business and this was how milk tasted now. She lied to me to get me to poop. She did love me.

Have yourselves a great day.
