Monday

All good things must come to an end, and that includes those fun-filled things that we refer to as weekends. Now it is time to take our collective noses and stick them back onto that grindstone for another fun-filled week of doing what we do for a living to make this a better world.

Looking at the week ahead, nothing really exciting coming up this week, other than Phil taking center stage later this week to determine if we are going to have six more weeks of winter or whether spring is right around the corner.

Other than that, just a continuation of last week, 12-hour days still going on for this week and beyond as we are trying to get through this project completed.

Have yourselves a great day.

Sunday

Here I once again sit with Kiwi in the early morning hours, he's trying to convince me that the Philadelphia Eagles are not only going to win today, but that they will also win the Super Bow. His logic is simple, they are the only team left that has a bird as a mascot. Got to love his logic.

Yesterday was pretty busy, we went to Harry's and Val and Aaron were already there buying some meat to throw in their freezer. I had seen her the night before at Sam's and Aaron wanted to go to Harry's as well.

Made a trip to Lowes to buy Michelle a new fan, her big metal one is starting to make funny noises, so we bought a new one before it went out.

After that we went to the new Pet Smart and saw Pam, George and Bella. Pam was picking up one of her dogs as she had just had him groomed. After that we ventured next door to the new Shoe Carnival, we got a few pairs of shoes, Michelle got another pair of Hey Dudes and I picked on up as well.

It was a pretty busy day and we were both ready for nap by 1:00. Today grocery shopping and our weekend chores and maybe even watch a little bit of football.

Have yourselves a great day.

Saturday

Here I sit once again in a quiet household, Kiwi and I are up having one of our deep discussions as to why giving someone the finger is referred to in a derogatory manner as giving them the bird. He takes offense to it and I just flipped him off and told him to quiet his beak this morning.

Big plans today, Michelle and I are both planning on going and drying laundry, me from the home and she brought some stuff home from work that she's going to dry. We'll be at Millers as soon as she wakes up.

Heading to Harry's Custom Meats this morning, going to refill up on some meats we regularly buy such as raw hamburger. He has the best prices, the freshest product, and the best-tasting meats in the area. Michelle and I started looking for a local butcher about 6 or 7 years ago and have never really returned to buying it from the grocery store. We do on occasion in a pinch when we need something specific, like regular ground pork for meatloaf, but we like the product we get from Harry's.

There is no NFL Football being played today, with both Confernece's Championship games being played tomorrow, that may actually allow me some time top take a nap.

Have yourselves a great day.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

Would you believe that I will get a normal two-day weekend this weekend? All of the Holidays are behind us so no working Saturdays or Sundays for a while, it'll be nice to get back to the traditional Monday-Friday workweek. It was nice with the three-day weekends, but I usually followed them up by working longer days and weekends to make up for the missed time.

So what are our plans this weekend? I would like to take a trip to Harry's tomorrow to get some meat to throw in the freezer, not low on anything, I just like to be stocked up on things like Hamburger and loose sausage since we use them so often for meal preparation.

No Birthdays, no parties, or planned events this weekend, just a chance to take some time and wind down.

Have yourselves a great day.

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out, time to look at some of the 30,000+ photos that I have stored on my computer. Little lost moments in time that I either captured with a lens, scanned, or just stole from someplace on the internet. I like to find just one and post it up and recall or relive the picture to the best of my ability. Sometimes this is a pretty easy task and sometimes it's not that easy, one thing it has always been a whole lot of fun.

Today I will steal a picture from this past weekend, today is Ralphies 40th Birthday and we celebrated it will him this past Saturday.

Amy grabbed this picture in front of his banner that they had made plus they did the big rainbow for him as well.

If you see Ralph today, make sure that you wish him a very happy Birthday. he is a good man who takes care of his family and he deserves well wishes.

Monday

All good things must come to an and, yep even those short weekends of only one day. Now it is time for us to take our collective noses and stick them back onto the grindstone and let's make this a better rock to live on.

I'm excited as it will be a Monday-Friday Week for me this week. I actually get a normal weekend this weekend and I'm happy about that, tickled pink you could say.

This should be an uneventful week, Ralph's Birthday is Thursday but we all celebrated it on Saturday with a big surprise party for him. It was a nice turn out and a pleasant evening. Ralph's Mom and Amy went all out to pull this thing off and they did a great job, Ralph is a pretty lucky guy.

I did finally get to meet Brittany's Boyfriend Matt Saturday evening, very pleasant young man and she looks very happy, which is all that really matters.

Have yourselves a great day.

Sunday

Here I sit on a quiet Sunday Morning, I actually get to enjoy a day off after working yesterday. Kiwi and I are up discussing our favorite card games. Mine happens to be Texas Hold Em and Kiwi likes to play Go Fish.

We surprised Ralphie yesterday, Amy has had a surprise birthday party set up for some time and she kind of surprised him yesterday. She told him that they were going to the Mountain Jamboree to play Rook, but we were all there for a surprise Birthday Party to surprise him. She sent him off to pick up some Pizzas and he really had no clue.

Shopping this morning and then relaxing after our chores. I would imagine that there is a nap that will be taken today, and possibly a little watching of some NFL Playoffs. The Steelers aren't in it so I won't be paying to close of attention, but I'll be paying attention.

Have yourselves a great day, make it special.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit once again in a semi-0quiet household, Kiwi and I are up discussing everything under the Sun. I asked him about his quest on Twitter is going for him getting his Trillion Followers. He said he is slowly progressing in followers, he's up to 4 now and half of them live in this household. He's still optimistic though.

I am working today because Monday was a Duquense Light Holiday and I was not permitted to work and the fact that I am just a contractor if I want to be paid for that day that involves me working today. It should be typical work weeks from here on out for me with this project, so I can go back to having my weekends off. I don;t mind the long weekends or holidays, but I end up paying for it down the stretch and this is the stretch. I don't mind too much, just means Michelle will be the one running to Millers to dry clothes.

No other plans so far today. Oh, if you want to order some Girl Scout Cookies, Ryleigh is selling them and setting a goal of 200 boxes to sell. So if you want to order some, help out a little girl and enjoy some good cookies. They will be donating to WVU Medicine Children's Hospital so it is going to be a very good cause.

That is good news for everyone, except I am working tomorrow to make up for the Holiday on Monday or at least make up some of the hours that were missed. I don't mind, and I'm sure Kiwi doesn't either as he will have me up and at em anyways. Michelle will once again help me out by going to the Laundromat and drying the clothes. She got a break last weekend as I was off and did it, but roads were treacherous and there were cars in the ditch on both sides of my driveway, so I couldn't;t get out at the normal time I go.

I would like to take this time also to wish my Sister In Law Danni a very Happy Birthday. I'm not sure if Roy has anything planned for her, I wouldn't be surprised if he treated her to something nice. I'm happy that her and Roy have moved to Morgantown.

No other plans this evening however other than our typical shopping and out to dinner. I did see that Kome had their official opening yesterday, so that may just be our attempted dinner destination this evening.

Have yourselves a great day.

Photo Flashback Thursday/Happy Birthday Nick Rehmani

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out, time to look at some of the 30,000+ photos that I have stored on my computer. Little lost moments in time that I either captured with a lens, scanned, or just stole from someplace on the internet. I like to find just one and post it up and recall or relive the picture to the best of my ability. Sometimes this is a pretty easy task and sometimes it's not that easy, one thing it has always been a whole lot of fun.

This weeks pic and blog will serve two-fold for me, one it is a photo flashback and two it is me saying Happy Birthday to my Brother In Law Nick. Nick has been doing a lot of content creation that is actually pretty impressive over the past few months. His TicToc  site is very informative as well as his Youtube Channel. I have to say I am a little jealous of his photo editing skills, they far surpass anything I can do. Go check out and subscribe to his channels.

Anyways I grabbed this picture of the Birthday Boy this past Christmas Eve at his home. He's never camera-shy and always has a smile on his face. Happy Birthday Nick.

Have yourselves a great day

Wednesday Part II

Wednesday

I saw this past weekend week and was totally amazed, I used to play a lot of chess when I was a kid and have started playing again for the past year or so on Chess.com. It's a game I used to love to play as a kid, but as fewer and fewer people played it became harder and harder to play.

This is totally amazing, it is giving your opponent an unspeakable advantage and then beating them.

Enjoy. Oh, a little Chess Trivia. What is the fewest number of moves you can make to put your opponent in Checkmate?

One More Day

All good things must come to an end, for Michelle that is her weekend for me I get to extend mine one more day as today is Martin Luther King Jr's Birthday. It's a Federal Holiday meaning no mail and the banks will be closed as will state offices.

So a three-day weekend for me, what could that mean? It means I'm taking both cars today to the Ranch Quick Lube to get the oil changed on both cars. They are both at the point milage-wise where they need to be changed, and I am off today, so I guess I get the pleasure of going and getting the oil changed on both of them. If you never used this place, I highly recommend them, all their profits go to Chestnut Mountain Ranch which is a very good local cause.

Not sure of anything beyond that, I'll be working 12's all week to make up for not being able to work today, but at least it will be a productive day.

Have yourselves a great day.

Happy Birthday Michelle Dawn Hall

I would like to take this opportunity to wish my beautiful wife a very Happy Birthday today. She is the love of my life and Mommy to two cats and one ornery bird. She is the glue that holds us all together.

We're planning on going out to dinner this evening to celebrate her Birthday, her Sister Chris who shares the same birthday, is out of town or we would all be doing something together.  Danni suggested a get together but I'm not sure how that is being planned, we might just go out to dinner on our own.

Michelle is an amazing woman and a very caring woman, I am fortunate that she came into my life and completed my empty world. I don't know what I would do without her, she has been my rock and my inspiration in taking her to a few places that neither one of us have ever been to.

If you see Michelle today, make sure that you wish her a very Happy Birthday.

Michelle I love you with all my heart, I hope you have the happiest of birthdays.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here Kiwi and I sit once again, he's in his hut with his headphones on jamming out to some Rockin Robin on his bird-sized iPhone, his head is just a boppin back and forth and he's getting his tweeting in. Not a care in the world and he has no plans today.

As of press time, I'm not sure what my status is going to be today either. I can work up to 60 hours in a week and I have 58 recorded so far. The question is do I work 2 hours today, did I sign on last night and work a couple more hours after we got done shopping or am I stopping at 58 hours this week. There is one thing I do know regardless of what I do after Press Time, I'm off Sunday (Michelle's Birthday) and Monday, so there is that.

My plans for the rest of the day are up in the air as well, I don't have anything planned out and I don't think Michelle does either. I would like to get out of the house a little bit, being couped up every day before the sun rises to the sun sets can cause that. It would be nice to get out of the house for a few hours and do something.

Have yourselves a great day and make it a special one.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

It is actually a holiday weekend for me, Monday is Martin Luther King Jr's Birthday and a Holiday for Duquense Light, which means I will not be working and will be off then. I may work a couple of hours tomorrow but that will pretty much be minimal if at all. I'll definitely be working next Saturday to make up for Monday.

Michelle is back in the office today, she has spent the last couple of days at a job location assisting with the installation of a new kitchen. It's a chance for her to break the norms and do something a little different. I taught her the Pythagorean theorem and told her to go impress the installers with her ability to find a right angle with just a tape measure.

Going to be a day of working and shopping for us this evening.

Have yourselves a great day.

Trying something a little different this week, taking one that I saw from Facebook (Thanks Mark Devault) and using that.

First of all this picture was taken in Morgantown, West Virginia. The city I have grown up in and live in. It was taken in what I would guess to be the late 1960's, do you see any Morgantown Area landmarks that you identify and do you see any missing?

No WVU Coliseum, no Create Arts Center, baseball field has moved a couple of times since this picture was taken.

Have yourselves a great day

Happy Birthday Mom

I would like to take this opportunity to wish my Mother Sandra Irene Bell a very Happy Birthday today.Today she celebrates her 19th anniversary of her 40th anniversary of her 21st Birthday, yeah that's 80 in other words.

We all took her out for dinner on Saturday afternoon to Texas Roadhouse for her special day. It was a crowded event where there were a lot of people there, not sure where all of those people came from that we didn't know, it's almost like they went out to eat on their own...lol

Not sure what her and Gerald's plans are for today, I'm hearing they are planning on writing an award winning no novel on the ins and outs of her being able to hear and not hear.

If you happen to see Sandra Irene today, take a little time out to wish her the happiest of birthdays. Happy Birthday Mom

Monday

The weekend of Birthday Celebrations is now behind us, we celebrated Mom's Saturday and Ryleigh's yesterday afternoon. Now it's time to take a break from all the celebrating and get back to doing what it is that we do for a living. It's time to take our collective noses and stick them back onto the grindstone for another week of doing what it is that we do to make this a better world to live in.

I'm actually working a Monday-Friday workweek this week. I'm working today, and that is the only Monday during a 4 week stretch that I am working. We had Christmas and New Years and next Monday we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr's Birthday so Duquense Light will not be working that day. Just means I'll have to work the following Saturday to make up for that Holiday. With 60 hour work weeks, holidays and birthdays, that leaves very little time for me.

Michelle is going to be working three days this week, not in the office, she is going to go to some of their job sites this week to assist with some of the installs. They are down some of their installers, so she is going to go and lend a hand three days this week starting tomorrow. I'm not too particularly thrilled about it to be honest. Her body is not conditioned to do this kind of work. Oh she'll be a trooper a day or so, but dollar to a donut it puts her down the rest of the week and all weekend.

Have yourselves a great day.

Sunday

Here Kiwi and I once again sit in a semi-quiet household, I say semi-quiet because he is once again singing this early morning. I think sometimes he thinks he is a rooster and feels it is his job to ensure we are up and at em in the early AM hours. He's such a good bird.

I am off today, I worked yesterday and then we all took my Mom out for dinner for her Birthday. She'll be celebrating the 59th anniversary of her 21st birthday this coming Wednesday.

What is on our agenda for the day? We'll do grocery shopping and chores around the house for beginners. It's just what we do every Sunday. This afternoon I am going to my great-niece Ryleigh's 7th Birthday party. Last year I couldn't make it as I was infected with COVID, so it'll be nice to make it.

Have yourselves a great day, make it a memorable one.

Saturday Morning Rambling

Here I sit on a quiet Saturday Morning, Kiwi and I are up singing some Bee Gee tunes and discussing what each of us thinks is the better pie. Me, I'm a Coconut Cream kind of guy, Kiwi, on the other hand, likes birdseed pie and holds any crust.

Well, this is a Saturday that needs to once again work, Holidays (New Years' in this case) has me screwed up with my Contractor time that I have to make up the time off by working on Saturdays or just going without getting paid. I like money and to be able to pay my bills, so I'm working today for a few hours. I go back on a normal schedule next week but the following Monday is also a Holiday, which means I'll be working that Saturday as well.

A very special birthday today, help me in saying Happy Birthday to Grandpa Hall. Born on this day in 1893, that would have him 130 years old had he not passed away in 1977.

Be careful today, WVU is playing Kansas this evening at 6:00 and it is sold out. Traffic is probably going to be heavy around town as the students trickle back for the start of the Spring Semester which begins on Monday.

Have yourselves a great day

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

Well once again it is not the beginning of the weekend for me, I am working tomorrow once again to make up for this past Monday's Holiday. That's two weekends in a row and although next week is a normal week, the following Monday is yet another Holiday.

I will have a busy weekend however with plans tomorrow and Sunday afternoon. So once again I am going to call on Michelle for assistance to help get some things done. We'll get back to normal someday...maybe.

It's Friday and the students should be returning this weekend, so traffic will once again pick up around town. Give yourselves a little extra time going where you are going to.

Have yourselves a great day

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out, time to look at some of the 30,000+ photos that I have stored on my computer. Little lost moments in time that I either captured with a lens, scanned, or just stole from someplace on the internet. I like to find just one and post it up and recall or relive the picture to the best of my ability. Sometimes this is a pretty easy task and sometimes it's not that easy, one thing it has always been a whole lot of fun.

This weeks pic goes back a few years. Kim and Robert used to host Texas Holdem tournaments at their home. It was usually a group of 8 to 10 of us and we would all pitch in an entry fee and the winner of the tournament would win the pot. It was always the same core group of players and we did it a number of times.

I would always take a picture of the winner with the money being handed to them and Kim and Robert posing with the winner and Kim's little plate that she had. This particular tournament Robert won the money, hence why Kim is handing him the cash and he is showing his winning hand that he closed the tournament out with. It was really a lot of fun and memorable times.

Tuesday's Tidbit

  * It's a new year, a new time when I do my end of the year blog and a good time to do a tidbits.

* It has been 21,551 days since I was born, that is 21 years using my new,  new, and improved 1,000-day Calender. I do have to say I start to feel my age of older than 21.

* It has been 6,811 days since I graduated from WVU with a Degree in Geography. 18+ years ago and still doing GIS and enjoying every minute of it.

* 5,396 days ago Michelle and I had our first date together, the pizza hut is gone, the movie was 10,000 BC and it sucked to high heaven. Heck, even our Pizza Hut is gone.

* 4,618 days ago I proposed to Michelle in the backyard at 4:00 in the morning.

* It was 4,161 days ago in front of our closest friends and family, for the most part, Michelle and I became husband and wife at the Marilla Center, we poured sand into a vase and said our I do's and we were hitched. How many people keep track of hoa many days they have been married 11+ years later?

* I have now lived 1,783 days longer than my Dad did and I'm still going strong.

* My older Brother Jonathan lived 21,266 days, I've now outlived him by 306 days making me Senior Supreme Sibling once again! To my younger siblings, bow down to my age seniority. =)

* I have 3,376 days to go until I retire, give or take a few hundred days here or there, but I love doing what I do. Who knows though, doing what I do I may never retire.

* 362 more days to go until my Goodbye 2023 Blog is posted, I'm just now getting started on content for that one.

* There are 356 more shopping days left until Christmas 2023. You still have plenty of time to prepare and get ready. =)

* There are 332 days until I hit the age of 60. Yeah I know, I'm really older than 21.

* There are 255 more days until the Pitt Panthers bring their butts to Morgantown so we can extract some revenge on our game this year. Payback Kitties. I think we are ready to roll now.

* There are 243 more days to go until the Mountaineers travel to Happy Valley and get another shot at an old time Rival, Penn State

* There are 213 more days to go until Michelle and I celebrate our Twelfth Wedding Anniversary together. Moke and Ang celebrated theirs yesterday.

* There are 83 days until my favorite season, Spring of 2023. Have I ever mentioned that I hate snow?

* 36 more days until Phil steps to center stage again for Groundhogs Day, hopefully Phil does me a solid this year.

* I have written 7,033 blogs in the now 18 1/4 years plus a couple of days of being a blogger.

* Older Drone still needs to be sent out for repairs, not a big priority at this time. My little drone is awesome and I really like it....when I take time out to fly it.

* No Drone flights this weekend, I'm seriously a slacker.

* It's back to work after a nice weekend, I worked Saturday as I will be working this Saturday.

* Still working 12-hour shifts for Duquense Light this week.

* How about I start doing my favorite Tic Tok of the week? This is this weeks tic tok, a little bit of justice.

* Have yourselves a great day.

* Hi ho hi ho back to work I go.

Off Again

Once again yesterday's holiday fell on a Sunday, meaning that today is the official work Holiday. Both Michelle and I will both be off today and not working. What a great way to start a new week...lol

I hope everyone had a good New Year and New Year's Eve. As the ball was dropping in Times Square, yours truly saw sawing logs on slumberland as was Michelle. Maybe we're just getting too old to stay up hours past our bedtime to throw shreds of paper in the air that we would have to clean up anyways.

No plans for the day, we really are getting boring. I think Michelle may go and spend some time with her Mom today, I may just spend some relaxing time playing on the XBOX. I may just watch a College Football game or two, there should be some good ones on today.

Have yourselves a great day today and welcome to 2023.

Happy New Years 2023

Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and old lang syne?
CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely you’ll buy your pint cup!
and surely I’ll buy mine!
And we'll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
CHORUS
We two have run about the slopes,
and picked the daisies fine;
But we’ve wandered many a weary foot,
since auld lang syne.
CHORUS
We two have paddled in the stream,
from morning sun till dine†;
But seas between us broad have roared
since auld lang syne.
CHORUS
And there’s a hand my trusty friend!
And give me a hand o’ thine!
And we’ll take a right good-will draught,
for auld lang syne.
CHORUS
