Sunday

Here Kiwi in a quiet household, we are once again talking about what a good draft the Pittsburgh Steelers managed to put together over the last three days. I'm quite happy with it and Kiwi is still mad that they didn't draft a bird, although he's really an Eagles fan (the whole bird theme).

Since it is and has been calling for rain all last week and this week coming, I wanted to get ahead of the grass before all the rain causes it to grow too much and I'm battling tall grass to cut, so I cut it yesterday afternoon. A funny little story though, last year Michelle hit a meter in the ground and bent one of the blades straight up. We (or should I say Michelle) took it off and we but a new blade on. We were good to go, until I hit a big stone in the yard yesterday that I didn't see and evened the scoreboard up 1-1 on bent blades. So now we have a new set ready to go on, the new set we put on it yesterday so we could cut the grass and two sets with 1 bend blade each. I can take the two non-bent blades and have them sharpened and have two sets of backup blades now.

As of Press time the Mountaineers have had 1 player drafted in the NFL Draft. Dante Stills was selected in the 6th round by the Arizona Cardinals. It has been a couple of years, he is the first Draft Pick since Tony Fields was selected in the 2021 Draft.

Not much planned for the day, doing some chicken for dinner. I picked up a whole chicken at Harry's on Thursday and we want to try that new run I got in Pittsburgh on Monday.

It was 13 years ago today that I proposed to Michelle after making her wait 777 days. Best decision I ever made.

Have yourselves a great day.

Saturday

Here Kiwi and I sit in the early AM, we're discussing the NFL draft and how it has been going for the Pittsburgh Steelers. I like how it's been going, but he seems to be upset that no birds have been drafted and why the Steelers are called the Steelers, he thinks the Kiwi's is the appropriate name for them.

No big plans for us today, I got all of our running around and laundry done yesterday morning, so that means the working lady gets to sleep in this morning. Unless of course Kiwi grabs her attention. I should have cut grass on Wednesday, but it wasn't long enough and it's been calling for rain the past couple of days and all the way into next week. We'll get to it eventually.

I've seen that mine and Michelle's favorite fruit stand is set up around town. Mal's has a brick-and-mortar store on the old Cheat Road, but she is starting to set her stands up for summer. She does seem to have the best produce around town and has a really nice set up. We bought from her numerous times last year and late in the year bought a bunch of corn on the cob and parboiled it, and took it off the cobs and froze it. When we wanted fresh corn over the winter, just grab a baggie and walla. There is a huge difference between canned and fresh corn and that is why we go the extra distance.

No plans, but that doesn't mean we're not going to get into anything.

Have yourself a great Saturday, make some memories with someone special.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

I took a nice little trip up to Harry's yesterday to buy some meat to throw in the freezer. Usually when I start to get a little low on Hamburger is when I go up, plus I got some stew meat and a chicken for Sunday. We're going to use that chicken spice I bought in Pittsburgh Monday on the chicken. I bought a whole frozen chicken, which means it is local and you know it is going to be good.

I did stop and see my Sister Terri yesterday on the way back home, I stopped in and BS'd with her for a little while she was working. The place was pretty much dead with the exception of one individual who came in and won some money then left. Lucky guy just put a few bucks in, took a small hit and cashed in. That's pretty much how I gamble when I do.

I did see where Jerry Springer passed away yesterday. He had been battling Pancreatic Cancer and not too many people win that battle. I know from Jean's diagnosis till her death it was just one year and she was doing anything and everything she could to battle it. It's an ugly disease.

Have yourselves a great day and a great start to your weekend.

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out, time to look at some of the 30,000+ photos that I have stored on my computer. Little lost moments in time that I either captured with a lens, scanned, or just stole from someplace on the internet. I like to find just one and post it up and recall or relive the picture to the best of my ability. Sometimes this is a pretty easy task and sometimes it's not that easy, one thing it has always been a whole lot of fun.

This week's pic goes back a few years, to say the least, back to when Hayley was getting ready to leave for the first day of her Senior Year at Morgantown High. She was up and at em early and ready to begin that final year of her formal education.

With the Columbia coffee mug in hand, a stylish top and everything she needed to start the education process one more time, she was ready. I grabbed this pic because it was a special day, if not to her to me and Michelle. About a month later she was acting in the Metropolitan Theatres production of Sweeney Todd that Michelle and I both attended. When the cast ran out into the audience as part of the play she ran right down our isle and stole Chad's hat all in one swift motion.

Just goes to show you how fast time flies by.

Have yourselves a great day, do something special.

Hump Day

Hey what do you know about that, two days are down and you have two more ahead of you and today is the day we get up and over that noontime hump and see the dawn of another weekend off in the Horizon.

As I confessed on Monday, I wrote yesterday's blog early so as that I could travel to Pittsburgh on Monday and do what I needed to do. I did have a plan of action and half-executed it, but things didn't turn out as expected.

By half-executed I mean that I drove to South Hills Village and decided to take the Metro into downtown, there was a stop just a block from the corporate office and I thought that would be perfect. Plus Parking in downtown Pittsburgh on a Monday is difficult to find and expensive, the parking garage closest to the corporate office was $14 an hour to park and I needed at least 3 hours of parking. So plan B was to park at South Hills Village and ride into downtown on the train, the do the same thing in reverse and save me quite a few bucks.

Aurora Blue Herbal Tea
I got to South Hills Village and checked my phone messages, their system had gone down and we had to reschedule my testing for May 11th at 1:00. I could have done it this coming Tuesday at 9:00, but chose the later date. I think Michelle may actually go up with me that day, I stopped and found a Tea Place that I bought her some tea from and she loved one of the ones I got her and she wants to visit.  This was the Aurora Blue Herbal Tea, I got her a Florida Sunshine Tea and I think the Organic Beauty Rest Herbal Tea and she really liked all three with the Auroa Blue (pictured) probably as her favorite of the three.

Have yourselves a great day today, do something special and make it memorable.

Tuesday's Tidbits

 * Monday is behind us  and I'm back from the Byrg, can't think of a better reason to do a tidbits.

* It has been 21,663 days since I was born, that is 21 years using my new,  new, and improved 1,000-day Calender. I do have to say I start to feel my age or older than 21.

* It has been 6,923 days since I graduated from WVU with a Degree in Geography. A field that I am still passionate about.

* 5,511 days ago Michelle and I had our first date together, the pizza hut is gone, the movie was 10,000 BC and it sucked to high heaven.

* 4,728 days ago I proposed to Michelle in the backyard at 4:00 in the morning.

* It was 4,273 days ago in front of our closest friends and family, for the most part, Michelle and I became husband and wife at the Marilla Center, we poured sand into a vase and said our I do's and we were hitched.

* I have now lived 1,895 days longer than my Dad did and I'm still going strong. It's almost two years according to my birthday age calendar.

* My older Brother Jonathan lived 21,266 days, I've now outlived him by 418 days making me Senior Supreme Sibling once again! To my younger siblings, bow down to my age seniority. =)

* I have 3,177 days to go until I retire, give or take a few hundred days here or there, but I love doing what I do. Who knows though, doing what I do I may never retire.

* 284 more days until Phil steps to center stage again for Groundhogs Day, I'm loving the springtime.

* 250 more days to go until my Goodbye 2023 Blog is posted, I'm just now getting started on content for that one.

* There are 244 more shopping days left until Christmas 2023. You still have plenty of time to prepare and get ready. =)

* There are 220 days until I hit the age of 60. Yeah I know, I'm really older than 21.

* There are 143 more days until the Pitt Panthers bring their butts to Morgantown so we can get some revenge on our game this year.

* There are 137 more days to go until the Mountaineers travel to Happy Valley and get another shot at an old-time Rival, Penn State. It;s a game that will be at nighttime on NBC so it's going to have a big audience.

* There are 101 more days to go until Michelle and I celebrate our Twelfth Wedding Anniversary together.

* There are 57 days until my second favorite season, the Summer of 2023.

* I have written 7,156 blogs in the now 18 1/2 years plus a couple of days of being a blogger.

* Older Drone still needs to be sent out for repairs, not a big priority at this time. My little drone is awesome and I really like it....when I take time out to fly it.

* No Drone flights this weekend, I'm seriously a slacker. It's getting to be that time of the year though.

* Speaking of drones, I have a little free time on my hands, providing the weather is nice it is time to fly.

* I'm back to writing a daily blog as opposed to batch writing them on Sunday to cover the work week. Unless I have something planned out the day before like I did yesterday and I wrote this in advance.

* How about I start doing my favorite Tic Tok of the week? This is this weeks Tic Tok, do you believe George Foreman is 74. Trivia Question, do you know what all his kids names are? Boys and Girls, it;s George.

* Have a great day.

* I'm looking I'm looking

It's a Pittsburgh Kind of Day

It's that time of the week when all you working stiffs need to stop having all that weekend fun and get back to doing what you do that makes this rock a better place to live. Take those collective noses and stick them onto the grindstone for another fun-filled week of improving this place.

For me it is off to Pittsburgh today. Duquesne Light has  GIS position open and they need me to come to Pittsburgh and test for the position, it's a Union position so they just want to make sure that I am competent, but I'll be competing with a few others who are also seeking this position. Those of us who worked for them over the last year and a half have the advantage, as we have already been working on the project, but we'll still have to compete for it now. It's pretty much going to be an all-day thing for me today.

Michelle loves her new Waterpik, it arrived Saturday so she did a little spring cleaning in the bathroom as I was preoccupied watching football and got everything organized in there.

Nothing really on either of our agendas beyond today, she'll go and visit her Mom this evening as she does every Monday afternoon. I'm taking her car to Pittsburgh today so I don't have to sit in Pittsburgh Traffic driving a 5 speed.

Have yourselves a great and memorable day, make is special.

Sunday

Here Kiwi and I once again sit on a quiet Sunday Morning, Kiwi is up trying to convince me yet again he would be a better football coach than Neal Brown and to get him an interview with Wren Baker. He thinks Wren is another bird rather than a human and thinks he can convince him to hire him.

I watched the WVU Football Spring game yesterday, I saw a few bright spots, but there is a lot of work to do. The players are there, the coaching just is not. Our problems are not from a lack of talent, it's a coach whose too worried about minute things rather than on focusing on what he needs to be. Timing and repetition are they keys to any successful football team, this offensive line has been together for basically four years and they are all pretty good players, as a unit however they are going to be our weakness. I don't think we have the personnel behind center that this team needs to run an offense where the QB reads through progressions, we are going to be forced to be a heavy run team and defenses are just going to load up because we do not have a downfield passing game with any consistency. It's going to be a long season to say the least.

Michelle did a deep cleaning on the bathroom yesterday, she listened to 70's on 7 on Sirrus XM and sprayed down the floor tile and took my drill with a brush attachment, and went to town on the grout. It looks like a brand-new bathroom.

Today we're going to go and do our weekly grocery shopping as we do every Sunday. I don't think we have too much planned other than that. I'll probably be doing a little bit of studying as I am going to travel to Pittsburgh tomorrow. Duquesne Light is hiring a staff GIS role, so I have to go up and test against everyone else to see if I can get on there full-time permanently. I have to brush up on my math and a few other things, it comes naturally to me so it's just remembering what I learned years ago.

Have yourselves a great day, make it memorable and hug your green cheek conure and hope he don't bite you.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit in a quiet household, Kiwi and I are up discussing some complex questions about internet searches. He is always a great resource for me to fall back when I need it. He's such a good bird.

Well everything I would have done last night or early this morning I did yesterday Morning. That means I don't need to take a trip tp the laundromat this morning and dry clothes, they are already washed and dried and I did Sams and Walmart yesterday Morning.

Michelle did have a little bit of an incident this week. Her bottom jaw started to hurt on Monday and spread across her mouth. To the point where her jaw was swelling and I told her to get to the dentist in case it is an abscessed tooth/ It was pretty concerning and it was causing her a whole lot of discomfort and pain to the point where she could not sleep.

Thursday she finally went to the dentist and low and behold, she had a popcorn kernel stuck underneath on of her teeth. The dentist took a water pic and forced the kernel out giving her instant relief. So I ordered her a Waterpick and it should be here today according to the tracking number. Needless to say when the kernel was released from under her tooth it was instant relief, so I figured it was worth the investment.

Nothing really planned for today, although the Mountaineer Football team is playing their spring game today at 1:00. It's being broadcast on ESPN+ and I'll be watching it from the comfort of home.

Have yourselves a great day, make it special and memorable. If you need something to do, go tickle a frog.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

Actually, for me it is going to be a day of me running around and doing things that I would have done this evening and tomorrow morning. Laundromat, Walmart and Sam's Club are my new agenda for the day. Stuff that I used to rush around to do, now I'll get done today so Michelle and I can have some time to ourselves. No running around or synchronizing with the clock for us this weekend. Plus Michelle has been under the weather the past few days due to her teeth bothering her.

Peanut has been loving the warm weather of the last few days, she has spent her days outside having fun and frolicking like she used to, but these days she's about at half-frolicked and half sleep out in the sun. When she was younger she was one to go out and explore, now she's just content in playing hunter and getting dads wrath for taking out birds and offering them up to us.

Have yourselves a great day.

This weeks Photo Flashback is actually thanks to my Facebook Memories. This popped up for me yesterday and I was about to share it there and thought, I need a Photo Flashback for over here and Walla. Hayley is my Photo Flashback for this week.

It was 14 years ago on my timeline, so we all must have just moved in together and the three of us all went Geocaching. Ironically this cache was actually down in Van Voorhis, as you are walking towards Star City where the old train bridge is located. This cache was under the bridge pretty much In think it was this one.

Have yourselves a great day and make your own memories.

Monday

All right all you working stiffs, stick those noses on the grindstone, and let's get to making this a better world to live in while I look for my next opportunity.

Yesterday was productive, something I was planning on doing the past couple of weeks I was able to do for the first time this year. I managed to get the grass cut for the first time in 2023. It was starting to annoy me and it was just starting to grow up with all the rain that we have had, so I did my best to get ahead of it before it got ahead of me.

With all the rain that we have had where the ground has been wet, my windows of opportunity have been very limited to say the least, so I took advantage of the opportunity when I had the chance. Grass is now cut Yee Haw!!

No plans for this week for me other than Job hunting. I usually get them coming to me, but it doesn't hurt putting your name and resume out there which I have been doing.

Have yourselves a great, productive and memorable day.

Sunday

Here Kiwi and I sit on a quiet Sunday Morning, we are discussing the gender reveal yesterday and we were both wrong. I said Girl, Kiwi said Bird and Michelle was the only one who got it right with team Boy. I tried to guess both a boy's and a girl's names, and I said George for both of them.

Grocery shopping this morning is on our agenda, like every other week. Shopping and chores are redundant but necessary acts to make the next week go smoothly.

I'm still planning on cutting grass some time in the near future, I was going to do it yesterday bt the grass was a little wet and it rained in the morning. We did get the AC put in, the branches that were around the yard picked up and I was able to drop the trailer from the tractor, so now it's just a matter of cutting the grass. My schedule is wide open now so I'll get it some some nice day this week.

Yesterday we managed to go to the yard sale up at Woodland that Jim and Chris were in on, we did manage to pick up a nice dog harness for Lucy for the grand price of $0.25.

Have yourselves a great day and make it memorable.

Saturday, April 15, 2023

Saturday

Here Kiwi and I sit on a quiet Saturday Morning, we're up discussing whether or not Jeaneatta's Baby reveal is going to be a boy or a girl, Kiwi insists that rather than boy or girl we should be discussing species, and he says bird. I say Human.

My first task today will be heading to the Laundromat to dry clothes, as my time frees up now something tells me that I'll just be doing this on Fridays and not having to worry about beating any crowds.

We're thinking about putting the AC Unit back in the bedroom, that way I can use the dump wagon the back of the tractor to clean up some brush that has fallen over the winter before we actually get a chance to cut grass for the first time this year.

Then we are planning on going to the big baby reveal this afternoon when Calvin and Jeanetta find out whether they are having a little boy or girl (no it's not a bird, sorry Kiwi). I think Michelle is going to be on team boy, and I'm going to be on team girl. Would you believe this will be the first time I have ever went to or even been invited to a gender reveal, I'm kind of excited for them. I will have my camera in tow to grab any pictures that I can get.

Oh and if you haven't filed your taxes for this year yet, you might want to get on that.

Have yourselves a great day.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

Today is my last day working under a Contract for Duquesne Light, our portion of the project has wound down and it's going to be turned over to the internal team after today. I am going to Pittsburgh this morning to turn all of my equipment in as it is all the property of Duquense Light. I work for a Company called ConsultUSA but they do not have anything available with my skillset, so I need to continue looking for employment. I have a few things in the hopper, but no offers on the table at this time. I'm thankful to Consult USA and Duquense Light for giving me the opportunity over the past 18 months to do something I love, now it is on to the next thing for me when it presents itself. I've been offered two jobs in the last year, both of which I turned down so I know I am at least marketable.

Plans for this weekend, I'm going to try to get the grass cut tomorrow and Michelle's AC unit put in before we head out to the gender reveal. I'm sure I can find something to do to keep me busy.

Have yourselves a great day

One last time, Hi ho hi ho

Sometimes this is a pretty easy task and sometimes it's not that easy, one thing it has always been a whole lot of fun.

One of my favorite pics from my youth, that is me the bald guy on the left and Grandpa Hall, the Bald Guy on the right, up at Coopers Rock. I'm not sure what year this picture was taken, I would say 1966 or 67 at  my best guess.

I do remember we used to live at the old house in Van Voorhis and I was wearing a shirt that said I'm a Little Stinker with a button in the middle of the shirt that made a noise. I do remember before going o Coopers that day that I was out in front of the house running around barefoot and I stepped on a bee and got stung. Yes I learned from mistake and never stepped on a bee again without having shies on.

Have yourselves a great day

Monday

Well that nice Holiday weekend is now behind us, now it is time to concentrate on the tasks at hand and get back to it for another week of doing what it is that we do for a living. Let's stick those noses back onto the grindstone and start another week of making this a better rock to live on.

This is my last week contracting for Duquense Light, we have pretty much gotten the who Outage Management System built and ready to hand over to the internal team. It's been a very fun and profitable project for me that was supposed to last for three months and lasted a year and a half instead. I've met a lot of great people, learned a few new things and am grateful for the opportunity that I was bestowed. I turn my equipment in on Friday, so a trip to Pittsburgh will be in the works.

There is nothing lined up for after this week yet, I left RTI last October because I couldn't give them the hours they wanted while I was putting in 60 hours a week on this project. So now for the first time since I really can't remember when, I will be completely unemployed after this week. No worries though, I have a number of things in the hopper so that situation hopefully won't last too long if at all. For the last year I have been doing 12 hour shifts pretty much without any true breaks, meaning days I had to make up the hours or lose the opportunity for that income.

Maybelline and Gracie are still with us for the time being, Hayley and Tyler fly in today and will either come down to get the dogs today or tomorrow. Peanut has been in the back bedroom hiding since they got here, so I'm sure she wants to come back out and visit us.

Have yourselves a great day.

Happy Easter

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Happy Easter today.  From our pet filled household that includes a bossy Green Cheek Conure, a fat cat, a shy cat, a little dog and a big dog and a couple of humans to watch and take care of all them, to yours we would like to wish you a very Happy Easter.

No Sunday morning chores this morning other than the few things we do like sorting pills for the week and, cleaning up the litter Geneie and replacing Kiwi's Bedding, it's pretty much going to be a day at home. We went yesterday and did our grocery shopping for the week.

Yesterday was in fact a busy and productive day. I went out first thing to the Laundromat and dried clothes, came home and showered and Michelle and I headed off to Krogers to do our weekly shopping. She had ordered a Banana Cream Pie this week from Apple Annies, so we headed over there after grocery shopping to eat breakfast (if you have never eaten breakfast from there, I highly recommend it) and pick up our pie. Were we done? Nope, we came home and put the groceries away and got the lawn tractor started up for the first time in 2023 just to give it the first start up of the year after sitting all winter. Then it was off to Woodland United Methodist Church for an Easter Bake Sale that they were having, before we headed on over to Mount Union Cemetary where we sprayed down Grandma and Grandpa Halls headstones, his brother Lincolns and Glenna Mae's. We also did a few similar headstones that were around that just needed a good cleaning. They already stand out from the road surface from what we did last year, we sprayed and scrubbed them again this year and am letting nature take it's course.

Since we are dog sitting this weekend, Michelle and I are staying home for Easter. It's the only time of the year the house has deviled eggs and I just can't pass that up.

Have yourselves a wonderful day and a very Happy Easter. I wonder if I can find Peter Cottontail on the TV or maybe I'll just post it here.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit in a non-quiet household, Kiwi is teaching Maybelline and Gracie to sing Bohemian Rhapsody and he is not being kind to them. They each want to do a Scaramouch but Kiwi wants both of those lines. I swear that bird is so demanding.

It is going to be a busy day today to say the least. I'm heading out to the laundromat and then when I get home Michelle and I are going grocery shopping for the week. Since tomorrow is Easter and most of the stores will be closed, we're going to get everything done today as people take a little time out and spend time with their families.

From there it's off to Apple Annies. Michelle wants a Banana Cream Pie and we ordered it a couple of days ago and are scheduled to pick it up today. That is Michelle's favorite pie and it took a while to find someone to make it how she likes it, Apple Annies does in fact do that. It'll be for desert tomorrow afternoon.

What else might we get into, well last year Michelle and I had cleaned Grandma and Grandpa Hall's graves as well as Dad's sister Glenna Mae and Grandpa's brother Lincoln. When Michelle drives by to visit her mom she said the graves out as to how clean they are. Well I ordered another bottle of the cleaner we used last year (amazing stuff) and are planning on doing a routine cleaning this year of the headstones. They all have the old marble military gravestones and this stuff is absolutely amazing for cleaning these types of markers.

Have yourselves a great day.

Happy Birthday Terri Rehmani

I would like to take this opportunity to wish my amazing sister Terri a very Happy Birthday today, I believe this makes her 21 if my math is correct, especially if you use my new and improved variable calendar. 20,454 Days / my 939 Day Calendar equates to 21 years old.

Terri just got back from a weekend trip to Washington DC over the weekend. This was her first visit to our nation's Capital.

Terri is one of the most unselfish and amazing person you could ever meet or come across.  If you have someone like this in your life you're pretty lucky and I'm pretty lucky. It was her that picked me up at the lowest point in my life and dusted me off and put me on the right path despite me having the fears that I had at that time, that makes her pretty damned amazing in my book and I'm thankful she is my sister.

Not sure if anyone will see Terri today, but if you are fortunate enough take a little bit of time out and wish her a very Happy Birthday today.

Happy Birthday Terri.

Big Ole Hairy Good Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Good Friday Friday.

A few events this past week, I learned a few days ago that a man who was like a big brother to me has passed away. Dave Van Halanger someone I was pretty close to from 75-83. I was always over at his place when I was a kid, in High School he helped train me and when we moved to East Gate in 1982, he lived in the very first house as you were coming into the development. Dave was always there for me to talk to, like when Grandma Hall was in ICU I used to pass his apartment in North Hills as I walked to Mon General. He was a very good man and I'm a better person for knowing him. I used to jokingly tell people Deion Sanders and I had the same trainer, but it wasn't a joke, it was Dave. RIP old friend.

We have a couple of houseguests with us for the weekend. Hayley and Tyler dropped off Maybelline and Gracie as they flew to Florida yesterday to spend Easter with Tyler's parents. We're dog-sitting this time and Abbie is watching the cats back at their place. They should be back Monday and will come down and pick them up Monday or Tuesday.

No real plans for this Easter Weekend, as we are dogsitting. Maybe I can get out and get some yard work done as there are tree limbs that have fallen and my dump trailer has the AC Unit sitting in it. Might have to lift it out and fire the lawn tractor up, doesn't look like it is doing to rain, but we'll have to wait and see how wet the ground is.

Have yourselves a great day

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out, time to look at some of the 30,000+ photos that I have stored on my computer. Little lost moments in time that I either captured with a lens, scanned, or just stole from someplace on the internet. I like to find just one and post it up and recall or relive the picture to the best of my ability. Sometimes this is a pretty easy task and sometimes it's not that easy, one thing it has always been a whole lot of fun.

How about this for a flashback, this was the third time we won the Steelers Trivia show. We were at KDKA Studios to tape the finals and after we won we took the trophy for winning that tournament and grabbed a picture outside by the fountains.

Notice my lower half is dressed in a suite and my Steelers Jersey was the top half. We pretty much took this picture and jumped in the car (my dress shirt and tie were on under my jersey) and headed to Morgantown for Brittany's Graduation from WVU. Here is a picture from later that day when we were at the Graduation, but that was a whole different vlog post.

Have yourselves a great day.

Tuesday's Tidbit

 * Monday is behind us and we are looking at a Tuesday, getting ready to get a couple of new house guests, so can't think of a better reason to do a tidbits.

* It has been 21,642 days since I was born, that is 21 years using my new,  new, and improved 1,000-day Calender. I do have to say I start to feel my age or older than 21.

* It has been 6,902 days since I graduated from WVU with a Degree in Geography. nearly 19 years ago and still doing GIS and enjoying every minute of it.

* 5,490 days ago Michelle and I had our first date together, the pizza hut is gone, the movie was 10,000 BC and it sucked to high heaven. Tomorrow will be 15 years since our first date.

* 4,707 days ago I proposed to Michelle in the backyard at 4:00 in the morning.

* It was 4,252 days ago in front of our closest friends and family, for the most part, Michelle and I became husband and wife at the Marilla Center, we poured sand into a vase and said our I do's and we were hitched. How many people keep track of how many days they have been married 11+ years later?

* I have now lived 1,874 days longer than my Dad did and I'm still going strong.

* My older Brother Jonathan lived 21,266 days, I've now outlived him by 397 days making me Senior Supreme Sibling once again! To my younger siblings, bow down to my age seniority. =)

* I have 3,198 days to go until I retire, give or take a few hundred days here or there, but I love doing what I do. Who knows though, doing what I do I may never retire.

* 305 more days until Phil steps to center stage again for Groundhogs Day, I think he has lied this year and I'm liking him for that. Maybe someone paid him to see his shadow, but he's is playing both sides. Not much snow this winter.

* 271 more days to go until my Goodbye 2023 Blog is posted, I'm just now getting started on content for that one.

* There are 265 more shopping days left until Christmas 2023. You still have plenty of time to prepare and get ready. =)

* There are 241 days until I hit the age of 60. Yeah I know, I'm really older than 21.

* There are 164 more days until the Pitt Panthers bring their butts to Morgantown so we can extract some revenge on our game this year. Payback Kitties. I think we are ready to roll now.

* There are 158 more days to go until the Mountaineers travel to Happy Valley and get another shot at an old time Rival, Penn State

* There are 122 more days to go until Michelle and I celebrate our Twelfth Wedding Anniversary together. Moke and Ang celebrated theirs yesterday.

* There are 78 days until my second favorite season, the Summer of 2023.

* I have written 7,134 blogs in the now 18 1/2 years plus a couple of days of being a blogger.

* Older Drone still needs to be sent out for repairs, not a big priority at this time. My little drone is awesome and I really like it....when I take time out to fly it.

* No Drone flights this weekend, I'm seriously a slacker. It's getting to be that time of the year though.

* I love fresh homemade bread, but we got ours from Muriales this weekend.

* Still working 12-hour shifts for Duquesne Light this week.

* How about I start doing my favorite Tic Tok of the week? This is this weeks Tic Tok, you got to love the old Fruit Cake Lady.

* Have a great day.

Monday

All good things must end, including those fun-filled things we call weekends. Now it is time to take our collective butts and get back to doing what it is that we do for a living. It's the start of a new week and new goals.

Looking at the week ahead Michelle and I get a couple of house guests later this week and through the weekend. Hayley and Tyler are going to Florida to visit Mark and Alice and we will be dogsitting. Maybelline and Gracie will be here visiting for the rest of the week while they are visiting down south. So we will have two cats, who will be hiding somewhere until the dogs leave, a couple of visiting dogs and Kiwi will be keeping a birds eye view on everyone and reporting back to me about what is going on.

Other than that I'm still working 12's this week for Duquense Light, we're trying to get the OMS system up and operational here very soon. I've got two more weeks to work for them and then it's on to find the next thing.

Have yourselves a great day

The Real Sunday

I hope no one fell for my April Fools blog yesterday, no we didn't go to Parkersburg and no we did not buy a reverse microwave, whatever in the world that is. Kiwi said he wasn't fooled at all and knew that I was joking, he's such a smart bird.

What Michelle and I really did yesterday was drive around here locally and see a few sights. I took her out this one road where there is a horse that will come up and say hello to people. I discovered him a couple years ago and I took Michelle out to meet him, we named him Fred.

From there I showed her Hagans Church where Uncle Junior used to be the Pastor of until he retired. She had only heard about it, but had never seen it.

Michelle wanted some lunch, so off to Muriales we headed for a late lunch and/or an early dinner. It had been a while since we had been there, so we decided to stop on by. I love their Sausage and Pepper Panini (I call it the Hot Sausage Hoagie) and Michelle loves their meatballs.

That was yesterday, today it's grocery shopping and coming home and preparing for the week. I'll get Hayley's dogs on Wednesday as they are flying to Florida for Easter. I think she gets back Monday or Tuesday and will pick them up when they get home. They are going down to visit Tyler's parents Mark and Alice.

Have yourselves a great day and enjoy the real Sunday.

Sunday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit once again in a non-quiet household, Kiwi somehow ordered himself a boat, and now he's asking me to fill his cage up with water and drive the boat around so he can learn to waterski. I swear that bird is always into something or another.

Yesterday went by pretty quickly, Michelle and I ended up driving to Parkersburg for the day. We went down to look at buying a new reverse microwave. This thing is amazing and it is exactly what it says it it. You put a glass of water in for 30 seconds and it freezes everything. I would have called it a quick freeze, but it's called a reverse microwave. I'm not sure how we ever lived without it.

Today it's grocery shopping and our typical Sunday chores that we do every Sunday as we prepare for another fun-filled week of work.

Have yourselves a great day and make some special memories, kind of like being gullible enough to believe in a reverse microwave on the first day of April.
