Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to, when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday!!!!

Looking for a little bit of High School Football? Morgantown High is on the road against Wheeling Park. This will be played close to where my brother Gary lives, pretty much within 5 minutes. University High is at home against Linsley, a private school that my niece Brittany attended for a semester or so. Clay Battelle is also on the road this week against Meadow Bridge. They will have 3 1/2 to 4 hours of travel each way; I would hope they let them out of school early for this game.

Speaking of football, it was 53 years ago today that I had the worst injury of my life playing pickup football. Left thigh and a greenstick fracture that caused me to have a pin drilled through my leg, 4 weeks in traction lying in the hospital with that pin having weight on it, 6 weeks immobilized in a body cast all the way up to my breast area from the left leg and halfway down my right, a couple more weeks in the hospital in traction to straighten my leg back out, then a couple of weeks in a straight leg cast. I was ready to play by baseball season. My left leg is slightly longer than my right, making me 1/2" taller on my left leg than on my right. That made for a long winter to say the least.

Have yourselves a great day.

Hi ho hi ho
