Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out, time to look at some of the 30,000+ photos that I have stored on my computer. Little lost moments in time that I either captured with a lens, scanned, or just stole from someplace on the internet. I like to find just one and post it up and recall or relive the picture to the best of my ability. Sometimes this is a pretty easy task and sometimes it's not that easy, one thing it has always been a whole lot of fun.

This weeks picture is actually a screen capture from the 1971 movie Fools Parade, which had a good portion of it filmed in and around Moundsville., WV. You'll notice on the right-hand side, third row from the bottom that I have a red circle around one person from the screen capture.

That person is my Dad's oldest sister Juanita (or Booky as I used to call her) and she had an extra roll in that movie. It's a non speaking part, but she lived in Moundsville at the time and just a few blocks from the Prison and Courthouse where this scene was filmed.

Have yourselves a great day

Tuesday's Tidbits

* Monday is over with, now we are looking straight down the barrel of a Tuesday, can't think of a better reason to do a tidbits.

* It has been 21,389 days since I was born, that is 21 years using my new,  new, and improved 1,000-day Calender. It's better than the 991-day calendar as it gives you a nice round number to work with.

* It has been 6,629 days since I graduated from WVU with a Degree in Geography. 18 years ago and still doing GIS and loving it.

* 5,214 days ago Michelle and I had our first date together, the pizza hut is gone, the movie was 10,000 BC but she still hasn't held that against me.

* 4,436 days ago I proposed to Michelle in the backyard at 4:00 in the morning. The same bench she feeds the deer, groundhogs, geese, ducks, turkey and a whole slew of birds from. I'm waiting for a Giraffe to show up, or at least a couple spider monkeys.

* It was 3,979 days ago in front of our closest friends and family, for the most part, Michelle and I became husband and wife at the Marilla Center, we poured sand into a vase said our I do's and we were hitched.

* I have now lived 1,601 days longer than my Dad did and I'm still going strong.

* My older Brother Jonathan lived 21,266 days, I've now outlived him by 124 days making me Senior Supreme Sibling once again! We did find him, just never had the honor of a face-to-face meeting.

* I have 3,557 days to go until I retire, give or take a few hundred days here or there, but I love doing what I do. Who knows though, doing what I do I may never retire. Do you know I have three brother in laws that are all retired, two are younger than me.

* There are 265 days until my favorite season, Spring of 2023

* 232 more days until Phil steps to center stage again for Groundhogs Day, I think he and the family have moved back home in the backyard.

* 187 more days to go until my Goodbye 2022 Blog is posted, it's been eventful. I have it started.

* There are 180 more shopping days left until Christmas 2022.

* The next Anniversary of my 21st Birthday will be in 161 more days.

* The next Backyard Brawl where we beat Pitt's ass in Football is only 55 days away. I'm ready.

* 27 Days until Michelle and I are in Pittsburgh to see Jimmy Buffett!!!!!

* I have written 6,831 blogs in the now 17 1/2 years since I started blogging. Seems like it was just yesterday that I started all of this.

* Older Drone still needs to be sent out for repairs, not a big priority at this time. I may actually but one off of same ebay and piece it together but I'm not sure it is really worth the effort to be honest. My little drone is awesome.

* No drone flights this weekend, the weather was really nice but the opportunity just wasn't really present for me to fly.

* Man cave is becoming more and more functional.

* I'm done for the quarter with RTI

* Still working 10 hour days. Money Money Money Money

* Have yourselves a great day.

And again

Once again those fun-filled things that we refer to as weekends are in our rear view mirrors. It's time to take our collective noses and stick them on the grindstone for another fun-filled week of doing what it is that we do for a living. Let's all collectively make this a better world for us all to live in.

Nothing on my schedule really this week, working 10-hour days still, but that may be the norm for a few more months. I don't mind, I like what I do and I get to do it from home.

We did manage to get a few things done around the house this weekend, we replaced the shelf above the bed that was starting to warp. That was an easy fix though, go get another shelf from lowes and take one down and screw the new one to the brackets that were already in place.

I did start the next phase of my man cave, bought a compressor and some air tools a few weeks ago, now I took the old shopvac from downstairs and put it upstairs while replacing the one down stairs with a larger model. Got a new table and a bunch of car cleaning supplies. Step by step.

Have yourselves a great day.

No Work Sunday

Kiwi and I are up partying our butts off that I am done with the quarter for RTI and I don't have to work today. The TV is on Peanut is still sleeping, but that doesn't stop me and my aviary brother.

Yes I am off today, no work for me and it's going to be a day in which I take some time off and not have anything to do.....finally.

Michelle will be meeting with Chris and Dani her sisters today and meeting with her Mom to talk about a few things with her concerning her well-being and care. I might find that time to be nap-worthy, but who knows.

We do have our weekly menu planned out and we'll be doing that this morning, Nothing too exciting on my end for the day. It's good to have a boring day every once in a while.

Have a great day.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here Kiwi and I sit on an early Saturday morning, we're up a little early as I prepare to run to the Laundromat and prepare for today's work. Kiwi keeps trying to convince me away from any kind of fowl-based diet, but I like my eggs and Turkey Sausage.

Like I said today is going to be a day that I am working for RTI. It's the last day of the quarter to be doing any screeing and the last day of the quarter that I will be doing any field work this quarter. Next quarter starts in a couple of weeks, so I'm going to take some time off and relax and enjoy myself before the next round of insanity takes place.

No real plans for us this weekend, we had talked about going to the Zoo on Sunday, but Michelle's sister Dani is coming down this weekend so that kind of got stuck on the back burner for this weekend.

Hopefully if it is nice out, I can find someplace to go and fly my drone. I would like to go somewhere new where I have not been before, but we will have to see about that as well.

Have yourselves a great day.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is once again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

If you are looking for a little bit of free entertainment tonight, Beatlemania Magic at 8:00, The Helicopter Collective takes the stage at 6:30 to start the nights' festivities. They (Helicopter Collective)  played locally at Whitetail Crossing earlier this year. The show is part of the Ruby Concert Series which next week brings in Jo Dee Messina.

I'm working tomorrow for a while, it'll be the last day of the quarter that I go out and do any field work, we'll start quarter three in two weeks as we prepare to ramp up for it.

Michelle's Sister Dani is talking about coming into town this weekend to visit their Mom. Chris has had her busy this week helping with the Vacation Bible School at the church.

Have yourselves a great day.

Everyone has seen the picture of the five of us, it's been posted numerous times. Has anyone seen this one, this was taken the same day (notice the stylish Elvis Shirt). It's of me and my little brother Gary. Notice how I have a full head of hair and I tower of him, well now he has me on height by about 5".

This was taken at a family cookout in 1978 at Grandma Hall's (where I lived) house. This is a picture of the two of us standing in front of the garage. Good times gone by.

Have yourselves a great day.

Monday

All good things must come to an end and that includes those fun filled things we refer to as weekends. I even had a day off yesterday so I am super excited to say the least. Now it's time to take our collective butts and get back to doing exactly what it is that we do for a living.

Well George's retirement picnic went off pretty well yesterday. Pam hosted one for him at Marilla Park and had a big cookout to honor his service with the city. Any pictures that I grabbed I put up on Facebook.

Terri, Nick and the gang all made it to Ocean City safely, I watched them cross the Bay Bridge yesterday on an app that we all share. They are in Ocean city and enjoying themselves. My only suggestion is Thrasher Fries. They are staying on the boardwalk and pretty much in the middle of it. Perfect spot and location.

Today is a Federal Holiday, so no mail and the banks will be closed. FYI

Have yourselves a great day.

Happy Father's Day

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the fathers and daddy's out there a very Happy Father's Day. Father's Day is a holiday that despite what historians may tell you, has it's origins in North Central West Virginia, Fairmont Specifically. As it had the first observance of Father's Day.

Both my Father and my Grandfather were two men who had a very lasting impact on me and my life. I was very fortunate to have not one, but both of these men as a very big part of my life and influential in my lifes choices.

So what is on my agenda for today, well it's going to start out with me going and doing our grocery shopping for the week this morning. Same things we do every Sunday Morning, but this one will be a little different as I'm off today. Yes I am taking the day off for a few reasons, one I don't want to interfere with other people celebrating Fathers Day and...

...I am going to my Brother in Law George's retirement picnic. Last Monday was his last day of working for the city and he has now entered the world of retirement. I have 5 Brother in Laws, three of the are now retired and two are younger than me.
Looking to grab a few pics from today's festivities.

Today is also a new Federal Holiday called Juneteenth. I guess it was first celebrated last year and this is the second year for it.

Have yourselves a great day.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit once again in a quiet household, Kiwi is still on his cage reading come cooking books and trying to perfect poultry-less menus and food creations. I don't have the heart to tell him I eat Eggs and Turkey Sausage pretty much daily.

I did manage to get the grass cut on Thursday afternoon, so that won't be on my weekends plate. What will I be doing today? You guessed it I'll be out on the field once again doing fieldwork for RTI. Next Saturday is the last day that we can do any screenings, so that will be pretty much the end of the quarter for me and I'll have a couple of weeks off the enjoy myself. I'll be off tomorrow, so my consecutive days worked streak will be over with.

I'm pretty sure Michelle is going to be spending the day with her Mom. I'm not sure if she will be heading back home to see Tom tomorrow or not. I think Chris has the Grandkids down for the weekend so something tells me they may not be heading north, but we'll know more tomorrow.

Bought a nice little compressor at Lowes last weekend. I do have to say that I love this thing. Also bought a nice Tire Gauge to go with it from Amazon. I have a second line that has an air nozzle (I made everything quick release) that came in handy at blowing the grass off the mower deck when I was done mowing.

Have yourselves a great day.

Hi ho hi ho this is my last day in a row.

I'm working 10-hour days, so I'll be doing my Sam's Club shopping this evening at about the time my wonderful wife is getting off of work. It makes it nice at the end of the week as we go out to dinner on Fridays. It's her week to pick this week, I chose Cracker Barrel last week and we've actually done it there two weeks in a row. We usually like to mix it up a little bit, so we'll have to see what Michelle chooses.

I am working tomorrow for RTI, the quarter is in fact winding down and I'll be off on Sunday for Father's Day and George's retirement cookout that Pam has been planning and organizing the past month or so. I'm looking forward to it and grabbing a few pictures of the day.

Have yourselves a great day

How about for this weeks photo flashback, I post my first video that I ever did. I usually do my videos around Christmas Eve, but when I first discovered Windows Movie maker this was actually my first video that I ever compiled.

So much has changed since I did this video that there is too much to mention. Pets who have moved on, people who have moved on, people who were not even born yet, relationships of many that have changed. It's a nice little reflection on how much has changed.

Have yourselves a great day.

Monday

All good things must come to an end, for most of us that include those fun-filled things we refer to as weekends. It's time for all of us to get up and put our collective noses back onto the grindstone for another fun-filled week of doing what it is that we do. Chef Kiwi has prepared a breakfast of fried worm eggs. He keeps on insisting he is a much better cook than Gordon Ramsey's bird.

This is going to be a short work week for my Brother-in-Law George. He is going into work for 1 hour today and then taking 9 hours of sick time (they are working 10-hour shifts) and he is officially done. He is retiring from the city after today, or should I say after an hour, and going fishing. Pam said they had some small get together for George at work last week, but he is officially retiring after today and that is only going to be 1 hour worked, Congratulations George, you put a plan together years ago to retire by 55 and you did it.

For the rest of us brain-dead minions, it's back to the offices or doing what it is that we do. I've lost count as to how many days in a row I have worked, since Amy and Ralph's picnic, but I'm taking Sunday off for George's retirement picnic at Marilla.

Have yourselves a great day

Sunday

Here I sit once again on a quiet Sunday morning. Peanut and Sophie are being cats and sleeping, Kiwi on the other hand is bound and determined to be the world's greatest bird chef. I keep telling him he is mixing up the definition and they are talking about cooking birds, but he insists he is better than Gordon Ransey and will be the world's greatest bird chef. He's even given me a menu today to shop for. He already ordered a full kitchen from Amazon. Alexa Alexa Alexa.

Grocery shopping is on our agenda for this morning. Kiwi has already given me his list, but Michelle and I have planned out the week's meals and are doing the shopping for them this morning. Yes, we have a regimented lifestyle as we plan out the week's menu on Saturday and ship for it on Sunday. That avoids the "What do you want for dinner" and the "I don't know reply" as these decisions were made well ahead of time.

One thing I did do yesterday was stop at a couple of the local vegetable stands to look and see what they had. The squash and the zucchini were both a little small, so we'll wait. We've been starting to go to Mal's brick-and-mortar store on the old cheat road. Michelle had to ask about peaches, if you like Peaches, Romney Peaches are pretty good and should start being available here in the next few weeks. I'm not a peach person, but I did like the Romney peaches we got last season. I was actually working in Romney last year about this time, and I was a little early to load up. I wonder if Kiwi can cook with peaches, maybe make a nice peach cobbler.

Anyways I'm back out in the field today once again working for RTI. I swear when you have quarters where there are so many transient students that you never find anyone home and it can make for long days. Doing interviews and interacting with people makes the days go by fast, that's not what I have seen this quarter which is a couple of weeks from being over. It'll be more of the same though unfortunately. Get me out of the heavily student-populated areas, please.

Have yourselves a great day, do something to make it memorable.

Saturday

Here I once again sit on a quiet Saturday morning. Sophie and Peanut are off sleeping somewhere, great job by my former co-author, and Kiwi is just being Kiwi and hanging around in his cage. I think he is trying to make some birdseed muffins or something, trying to get on some bird cooking show, I don't have the heart to tell him it's about cooking birds, not birds cooking.

It's Saturday, so you know what that means. I'll be heading out once again this weekend to work for RTI doing fieldwork. I don't mind this job when I can be productive, heavily student-populated areas in the summertime do not however equate to being productive. I'll go out today and tomorrow once again making my rounds, I wish I could spend time in the more residential areas where people live and there is no restricted access anywhere.

I don't think Michelle has any plans for this weekend, I'm sure she'll take some time to go and visit her Mom. I think the weather is calling for rain, so napping is what I would say is on her agenda. She cut Grass on Sunday as I was working, she likes riding the riding mower around the yard bee bopping to her music, so it's hard to say what she will get into.

Have yourselves a great day, I'll try to stay dry.

I'll be done early today, so I can go and do all of the Sams and Walmart Shopping that we need to do. It'll be nice if I can get it done and be home by the time Michelle gets off of work so we can do our Friday go-out-to-dinner thing.

No plans for the weekend, I know Terri and the gang will be or are enjoying the wonderful beaches of Ocean City, Maryland. Thrasher Fries is something they have to introduce the next generation too. I know I love them, Michelle loves them and once you have those fresh-cut fries in Peanut Oil and Vinegar, you will always crave that delectable delicacy. EDIT That's next weekend my bad.

Have yourselves a great day, a great Friday, and a better weekend.

Hayley must be special this week, my Sunday Blog was dedicated to her wedding anniversary, Tuesday was her and Tyler's Birthday and I might as well finish the trifecta today with my photo Flashback.

This is a picture of me walking this lovely young lady down the isle or beach with her Dad Rich whom I am carrying in my left arm, to present her to Tyler to Marry. One of my proudest moments.

Have yourselves a great day.

Happy Birthday Hayley and Tyler Ash

I would like to take this opportunity to wish this lovely young lady a very Happy Birthday today. I am proud to call this young lady my Daughter and my favorite Son in Law as well. , she is a hard worker who is not afraid to work, tackle any task and just take on the world. I've watched her grow up from a rebellious young teen to an inspirational woman.

Her and Tyler are both celebrating Birthdays, I got a chance to speak to them yesterday and they were running around looking for slushies, the alcoholic kind, that ssh

Not sure what her plans are for the Day, she does work a lot and has to make for Tyler and Luke, but if you happen to see or talk to her today, make sure you wish her the happiest of Birthdays today.

Wishing the happiest of days to a couple very special people in my life.

Happy Birthday Hayley and Tyler

* I have now lived 1,580 days longer than my Dad did and I'm still going strong.

* My older Brother Jonathan lived 21,266 days, I've now outlived him by 103 days making me Senior Supreme Sibling once again! We did find him, just never had the honor of a face-to-face meeting.

* I have 3,578 days to go until I retire, give or take a few hundred days here or there, but I love doing what I do. Who knows though, doing what I do I may never retire.

* 253 more days until Phil steps to center stage again for Groundhogs Day, I think he and the family have moved back home in the backyard.

* 208 more days to go until my Goodbye 2022 Blog is posted, it's been eventful. I have it started.

* There are 201 more shopping days left until Christmas 2022.

* The next Anniversary of my 21st Birthday will be in 182 more days.

* The next Backyard Brawl where we beat Pitt's ass in Football is only 76 days away. I'm ready.

* There are 60 more days to go until Michelle and I celebrate our Eleventh Wedding Anniversary together. =)

* 48 Days until Michelle and I are in Pittsburgh to see Jimmy Buffett!!!!!

* There are only 14 days until the official start of Summer. TWO WEEKS!!!!!

* I have written 6,809 blogs in the now 17 1/2 years since I started blogging.

* Terri and her entire crew will be heading to Ocean City later this week for a couple of days. She is taking the kids and grandkids for a couple of days.

* Kim royally screwed up this past weekend. Her and Robert entered a gun bash and didn't win a damn thing. Amy and especially Ralphie are the ones that have all the luck with those kinds of things.

* Have yourselves a great day.

Monday

Here it all starts again, the start of another fun-filled week of doing what it is that we do for a living.  The weekend is now over, now it's time to take our collective noses and stick them back onto that grindstone for yet another fun-filled week of doing what it is that we do for a living.

Looking at the week ahead I'm done working 10 hours a day for Duquense Light for the time being. It lasted a couple of months and was good while it lasted, it was a nice way to stash some extra money into Savings.

No plans for this week, mainly because it is supposed to basically be raining for the rest of the week, if I could not get the grass cut yesterday, hopefully I can get it cut today. It's going to be doing a lot of growing this week.

Have yourselves a great day.

It was one year ago that magic happened on the Assateague Island. Hayley and Tyler were scheduled to get married on this day on the beach, which they did do, but that was only part of the magic that we witnessed on this special day.

Hayley has always had a running joke about wanting a pony, one year for Christmas we got her a laptop and as she was opening it we asked her to guess what it was and she said it was a pony.

When Michelle and I were on our honeymoon, we had taken a charter over to Assateague Island for a few hours and we saw a number of wild pony's that inhabit the island. We took a few pictures of them and sent them to Hayley, being she loved Ponies.

One year ago today, Hayley and Tyler were married on the beach of Assateague Island. Tyler and his Dad and a few of the guys had went to the beach to set up for the day. Michelle and I brought Hayley after she was ready and her and I started at the edge of the beach. It took her a few minutes to realize it, but there were about a half a dozen or so wild pony's in behind the wedding party. They stood there pretty much from the time they were setting up for the wedding and didn't move. I walk Hayley down the isle and give her away, and the wedding ceremony was performed.

During the ceremony the horses pretty much stayed in same spot facing the wedding where they had been for a couple of hours during the setup. They didn't move.

AFTER the ceremoney, the horses all came over to greet the newlyweds, completely unplanned and unscripted. That was the magic. I spoke to a laddy who was there and went to that beach pretty much every day, she said it's like they stood at attention until it was over with and then mingled. She also said the ponies had not been in that area of Assateague Island for at least 30 days.

Happy First Anniversary Hayley and Tyler.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit once again in a quiet household, Peanut and Sophie are sleeping and Kiwi is in his cage on twitter sending out tweets. He likes to remain active on social media.

Plans for the day are pretty simple, get out and work for RTI both today and tomorrow. We only have a few more weeks to finalize everything that we need to finalize and get everything taken care of. With me it's pretty much about me getting the correct number of visits needed to close a dwelling unit out for the quarter.

Michelle is the lucky one, she has the weekend off with not many plans as far as I know. I'm sure she'll make a trip over to see her Mom at least once over the weekend.

Kids are done with school for the year, yesterday was their last day here in Monongalia County. I think Amy she has to go to work for 3 or 4 days before they are done for the school year, but everything is pretty much done and it's time for the kids to spend time in swimming pools rather than classrooms, or at least for a few months.

Do you believe that this year is halfway over already? Man has it gone by quickly, is it I'm getting older and time speeds up, or does it just seem that way. The good news is the kids are done with school for the year. I know Amy still has a few days to work, but she is about to start her summer vacation as well.

No big plans for me this weekend other than working, Kiwi has been enjoying the outside time and the 90° weather this week. As far as this household, it's all same stuff different day type of thing. Work, go to bed. I would like to fly the drone again this weekend, I wanted to do a special shot at Amy's that I know it is capable of, couldn't find it in the settings so that never happened.

Have yourselves a great day

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out, time to look at some of the 30,000+ photos that I have stored on my computer. Little lost moments in time that I either captured with a lens, scanned, or just stole from someplace on the internet. I like to find just one and post it up and recall or relive the picture to the best of my ability. Sometimes this is a pretty easy task and sometimes it's not that easy, one thing it has always been a whole lot of fun.

This weeks pic goes all the way back to yesteryear. The year was 2022 and the month was one in the distant past called May (or this past weekend). I chose it because it was a good one and they earned the right to be here on this post after last weekend.

Yes the picture was taken this past weekend, Amy had asked me to grab a picture of the two of them and I obliged. I understand as the person behind the lense, you may always be included the images that you capture. Amy is one hell of a Photographer and as an amateur who likes to take a lot of pictures, I knew where she was coming from and obliged.

Have yourselves a great day
