My home state declared it's independence 147 years ago today, on June 20, 1863. It is the only time in our nations history that one state has told another state "screw you, we are out of here" and it took the Mountaineers to do it. Happy Birthday to the place that I may not have been born in, but in the state I have lived the vast majority of my life in and considering myself a West Virginian.
Happy Birthday West Virginia, my favorite state.
