Monday

All good things must come to an end, and yes that does include those super productive things that we call weekends. Now it is time to take the collective noses and stick them back onto that grindstone of life and get back to doing what we all do to make this a better rock to live on.

I hope everyone had a good Mother's Day, we invited Mom and Gerald over to Chris's for a cookout and to enjoy Mother's Day. Lucy was in tow and got a chance to spend some time and visit her previous Mother who I don't think has seen her since Amy and Ralph's cookout last summer. It was a nice day.

It was 7 years ago yesterday that that cute little adorable Cat on the left moved in with us. Seven Years ago we adopted Peanut, back when she was a cute little rambunctious thing, now she's a 7-year-old cat that only likes 2 humans, 1 other cat, and 1 bird named Kiwi. Anyone and everyone else she either tries to kill or hides from as she is far from a socialite. We do love her and appreciate her and have enjoyed the last seven years.

I swear I am going to charge my drone this week and attempt to find someplace to fly it. I have time now and the weather has been cooperative, I just need to find someplace that I have not flown and have some fun with it. I'm out of practice with it, so Coopers Rock would be too much of a risk for me to fly it.

Have yourselves a great day, go out and make this a better world to live in.

Happy Mother's Day

Here I am on a Quiet Mother's Day Morning, Kiwi and I are up discussing his Mother and how she used to fly around all over the place. I reminded the little peckerhead that Michelle was his Mother and then it dawned on him, oh yeah, I forgot. Brid brain and he wants me to take him seriously when it comes to issues. Expert my butt.

It is Mother's Day here and everywhere else. Here is has a little more special meaning as it is a Holiday that was founded in Grafton, in an adjacent county. Anna Jarvis is credited with founding the Holiday that is now internationally recognized.

So to all the mothers out there, including my own Mother, my wife, her mother Suzie and to all of my nieces who have given birth and to my daughter who stepped into that role and to all who have ever been thought of as Mom, I would like to wish you all a very happy Mother's Day.

Our plans for the Day, Michelle's Sister Chris has invited us over for a cookout, and we have invited Mom and Gerald to come along and of course, bring Lucy so Suzane can get a chance to visit with her. Hopefully, the weather holds up for the day as it seemed to rain all day yesterday.

Have yourselves a great day and make some memories.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here Kiwi and I sit in a quiet household, Peanut expressed that Kiwi is doing a good job and she is still holding out for more treats on her contract negotiations to be my co-author. Anyways Kiwi and I are up talking about a number of topics, as he just likes to ramble on sometimes without me getting a word in edgewise. I call it singing the song of his people.

Today would have been my Dad's 78th Birthday. He was born on this day in 1945 and it'll be 24 years in a couple of months that he left us.

I got a little bit of disappointing news yesterday, I interviewed Monday for a job that I really wanted and I was not selected for the position. This was a job I really did want and thought I had but I guess things were just not meant to be for this position. My interview even started funny as I could not connect to Teams and had to do a phone interview, I was a little bit frazzled but I thought it went well. My recruiter even thought I was a shoo-in for this position, but I guess the planets just were not aligned for this opportunity.

If you want a little bit of advice, avoid the WVU Coliseum both today and tomorrow. Their Graduation Ceremonies are taking place so traffic will be heavy this weekend in that area. Just use a little caution and plan your travels accordingly.

No plans for Michelle or I today. I got all the running around chores done yesterday and I even cut the grass Thursday evening, so it may just be a relaxing day for both of us.

Make it special if you can.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

Well it's looking dimmer and dimmer on what I thought would be some good news this week, I could still be wrong but it's about time to put that one behind me and look ahead to the next option or opportunity. I can't say I'm not disappointed, to be honest I am and I thought I had this one. We'll keep churning onward until we find something in my skillset and what I'm looking for.

My plans for today are to head to the laundromat and then WalMart and then Sam's while Michelle is at work. I'll have all this stuff done before she gets home and we can go out to dinner.

I did anticipate a lot of rain today and the weather was nice yesterday, so I hopped my butt and more sore back onto the mower and managed to get the grass cut. I didn't want to go into the weekend with it growing as they are calling for rain. I'm going to be busy today, and I don't really want to cut it over the weekend.

Tomorrow is the Blue and Gold Mine Sale at the Football Stadium. That is when they go through all the dorms and take the items that students left behind that could be sold and the money is donated to the local United Way. It'll be held on the East Concourse, which is the Willowdale Road side of the stadium.

As a heads up, tomorrow would have been my Dad's 78th Birthday. It's hard to believe it has been almost 24 years since he left us. Tine does go by quickly, that's for sure.

Have yourselves a great day, and make some memories.

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out, time to look at some of the 30,000+ photos that I have stored on my computer. Little lost moments in time that I either captured with a lens, scanned or just stole from someplace on the internet. I like to find just one and post it up and recall or relive the picture to the best of my ability. Sometimes this is a pretty easy task and sometimes it's not that easy, one thing it has always been a whole lot of fun.

This weeks pic is an artistic one I took during COVID, it's one of my former blog co-author Peanut, she held out for a contract dispute and was replaced my the Green Cheek Conure Kiwi, out in the backyard sitting on a rock. I decided I was going to try to do some fun stuff with the camera's setting and chose the color picker. I think this was done with one of my older cameras, as the 35 MM I use now doesn't appear to haver those settings.

Anyways I picked the color of Peanut's nametag and some of the colors on the back were in the same range of the filter to get picked up.

Have yourselves a great day.

Hump Day

Hey, what do you know about that, two days are down and you have two more ahead of you and today is the day we get up and over that noontime hump and see the dawn of another weekend off in the Horizon once again.

Hopefully, I hear something today from my interview on Monday, I've got my fingers crossed as this is another long-term working-from-home position doing what it is that I love to do. I kind of like this working-from-home thing, it's actually pretty lucrative as long as you can find work. I'm actually contemplating becoming an LLC and doing it as a business, I'm weighing any benefits and liabilities that a 1099 would have over a W2. As a W2 employee, I can only work on one contract at a time, as an LLC I can line up multiple ones and pay someone else to do the work under my supervision as I work on other projects. I would just be responsible for all the billing and taxes. It really is worth looking into. I know when I was in college I really liked Nasrin's setup and business model at Recourse (although a different service) and someday wanted to be a consultant.

I think I pulled a back muscle Saturday, I'm still limping around and am actually using a cane to get around as the right side of my lower back is really agitated. It's painful to move around or put any strain on it, so I am using a cane as assistance to assist in taking the strain off of it for the time being. I was going to cut grass Monday, but I thought twice as even though it's a riding mower, our yard is not smooth and even and could have caused a deal of discomfort if I could even swing my leg high enough to get on and off the tractor.

I hope everyone has a great day today, do something to make someone else's life a little better, just a simple act of kindness will make this a better rock to live on.

Tuesday's Tidbits

* Monday is behind us, can't think of a better reason to do everyone's favorite blog post of the week.

* It has been 21,677 days since I was born, that is 21 years using my new,  new, and improved 1,000-day Calender. I do have to say I start to feel my age or older than 21.

* It has been 6,937 days since I graduated from WVU with a Degree in Geography. A field that I am still passionate about.

* 5,525 days ago Michelle and I had our first date together, the pizza hut is gone, the movie was 10,000 BC and it sucked to high heaven.

* 4,728 days ago I proposed to Michelle in the backyard at 4:00 in the morning.

* It was 4,273 days ago in front of our closest friends and family, for the most part, Michelle and I became husband and wife at the Marilla Center, we poured sand into a vase and said our I do's and we were hitched.

* I have now lived 1,909 days longer than my Dad did and I'm still going strong. It's almost two years according to my birthday age calendar.

* My older Brother Jonathan lived 21,266 days, I've now outlived him by 432 days making me Senior Supreme Sibling once again! To my younger siblings, bow down to my age seniority. =)

* I have 3,163 days to go until I retire, give or take a few hundred days here or there, but I love doing what I do. Who knows though, doing what I do I may never retire.

* 270 more days until Phil steps to center stage again for Groundhogs Day, I'm loving the springtime.

* 236 more days to go until my Goodbye 2023 Blog is posted, I'm just now getting started on content for that one.

* There are 230 more shopping days left until Christmas 2023. You still have plenty of time to prepare and get ready. =)

* There are 206 days until I hit the age of 60. Yeah I know, I'm really older than 21.

* There are 129 more days until the Pitt Panthers bring their butts to Morgantown so we can get some revenge on our game this year.

* There are 123 more days to go until the Mountaineers travel to Happy Valley and get another shot at an old-time Rival, Penn State. It's a game that will be at nighttime on NBC so it's going to have a big audience.

* There are 87 more days to go until Michelle and I celebrate our Twelfth Wedding Anniversary together.

* There are 43 days until my second favorite season, the Summer of 2023.

* I have written 7,170 blogs in the now 18 1/2 years plus a couple of days of being a blogger.

* Older Drone still needs to be sent out for repairs, not a big priority at this time. My little drone is awesome and I really like it....when I take time out to fly it.

* No Drone flights this weekend, I'm seriously a slacker. It's getting to be that time of the year though.

* Speaking of drones, I have a little free time on my hands, providing the weather is nice it is time to fly.

* I think I pulled a back muscle this past weekend, it's still rather sore and agitated.

* How about I start doing my favorite Tic Tok of the week? This is this weeks Tic Tok, asking Jon Bon Jovi who he thinks the best guitarist is of all time. Anser might surprise you.

* I'm looking I'm looking

Monday

All good things must come to an end, and yes that does include those super productive things that we call weekends. Now it is time to take the collective noses and stick them back onto that grindstone of life and get back to doing what we all do to make this a better rock to live on.

I'm writing this and drinking a glass of diet cran grape as O was in a lot of pain Saturday evening and into yesterday. Thinking it may have been a pulled muscle but remember years ago that something very similar to this happened years ago when I used to lift weights two hours a day when I was at NETL. I went to Med Express and they wrote me two prescriptions for pain (that I never took) and said I had a kidney infection. So Dr Wifey (Better known as Michelle) suggested drinking some cranberry juice to help flush the kidneys. I'm not a fan of cranberry juice, but this Ocean Spray Diet Cran Grape is actually quite tasty and I would drink it again.

Wish me luck this morning, I have another interview for a job out west, but it is a remote role so I can work from home. This is one of those jobs that 30 different head hunters contacted me about this position, but the company that has actually placed people contacted me first, offered the most money and it was indicated I was their first and primary target for this role. Today I meet with the client and was asked if I was offered would I accept today. I thought this was a good sign, so I said yes and it's doing the part of GIS that I enjoy the most, editing. Getting down to the nuts and bolts and building the product. I actually managed a project for what they are asking on this one, but for the state of Virginia when I was with VARGIS, and had three guys working under me. So I think my chances may be favorable and it's more money (without overtime) than I was making contracting for Duquense Light.

Speaking of Duquense Light, I have to go to Pittsburgh once again and test in for a GIS Position that they have. It's a Union Test and has absolutely nothing to do with GIS, it's more along the line of how well you understand physics and mathematical equations. I'm planning on going up Thursday, but plans could change.

I need to charge my drone and the controller, I would like to get out and fly it sometime in the near future. Weather has not been too cooperative but hopefully that will all change in the very near future.

Have yourselves a great day, make some memories.

Sunday

Here Kiwi and I sit yet once again, we're talking about how much fun that he had yesterday when we took him outside as we, (Mainly Michelle) cleaned the back patio up. Kiwi was out in the sun visiting his cousins and still can't stop talking about it.

We had a raised garden that I put on the back deck years ago, it was an above-ground garden that was actually quite productive. We put it in years ago and we used it for a few years, but it has probably been 10 years since we last planted it and it was just time to get rid of it. Michelle wanted it gone, so what Michelle wants Michelle gets and we got it all cleaned up, disposed of, and hosed off. It was a lot of fun when we did have it, we took a lot of pride in it, but its time had come and gone and it was time for it to be gone.

We did get a lot of running around done yesterday though, Michelle went to Sephora, Home Goods, and JC Penney and I went to Bass Pro Shops and Harbor Freight and didn't buy a single toy...I mean tool. I did get a number of things done in and around the man cave (garage), bought some new garden hoses, and a new hard-bristled broom for outside, and got a bunch of tools back up into the garage.

Today we are grocery shopping and I would imagine that there will be a nap associated with the day since it is due to Thunderstorm. I was going to cut grass yesterday, but it's not really high enough yet.

Have yourselves a great day, make it memorable.

Happy May 6th

Here Kiwi and I sit yet once again in a quiet household, I want to sleep in and he's wanting to jibber jabber, Wanting to argue if turning your Air Conditioning up makes it hotter or cooler. He's just got that analytical mind that questions everything and how it all works. I think he gets that from me.

It was 86 years ago today that lived in a day of infamy. The Hindenburg blew up in New Jersey, making Morgantown native Herb Morrison's voice and recollection of the event timeless that is stuck in all of our heads over 8 decades later. I never had the pleasure of meeting the man, but my sister Kim knew him as they both attended the same church up until the time of his passing.

Got a lot done yesterday, Michelle is still under the weather, I'm starting to wonder if it is strep throat, we got her some lozenges from Walmart yesterday that seemed to instantly help. She took yesterday off as well, relaxing and giving her a four-day weekend, if that is what you call it.

She did like the teas I brought back for her a couple of weeks ago when I went to Pittsburgh. She loves Teas and has been drinking a lot of them lately in place of coffee, so we went to the Seneca Center and found the Tea Shoppe right here at the Seneca Center. She said the Teas are about the same quality and they seemed to have a larger selection of Teas. She got a 3 ounce package of Lemon Mango Punch Fruit & Herbal Tea that she really seemed to like. You get 3 ounces (about 10 cups an ounce) and the price is about the same that I paid for 2 Ounces in Pittsburgh. I guess that means less trips to South Hills Village and more to the Seneca Center. Of course we went to the Brownie House located in the Center as well.

The day would not be complete without our first trip of 2023 to Mel's to pick up some Cantelope and a Mango. She is the one that has all the fruit stands around town.

So how did my interview go this past week with ESRI, I think it went really well. We discussed a number of things, and her one question for me was why did I apply for this job. You have to be a Geography and especially a GIS Geek to understand my answer and she got that bill. My answer was simply because it's ESRI. If I get this job I'll have to relocate to the Charlotte Area, but I will be out on the road most of the time to be honest. I've been to three Federal and one Universal User Conference (In San Diego) and if I get this I will be doing it much more often. I have a good feeling about it.

Not much on our agenda for the day, I guess it all comes down to the weather and how Michelle is feeling. It's supposed to be warmer, so Peanut is want to go out and explore the world.

Have yourselves a great day, make it special and memorable.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

First of all, Happy Cinco De Mayo, which translates into May 5th in English, has something to do with Mexico and celebrating something. Yesterday was cooler with May the 4th and the Star Wars reference.

Today is also the last day of finals at WVU. I think you will start to see a mass exodus out of town if you haven't already seen it today through tomorrow. Tomorrow is the official move out day at the WVU dorms and they have to be officially out of University Housing by noon tomorrow. So in short, a large majority of them are leaving today and tomorrow and there will be some hanging around for the week who are Graduating next weekend, then it is some peace and quiet around town. Woo Woo.

I'll be doing my Laundromat, Sams Club and Walmart run today, that way I can have everything done by the time Michelle gets home from work so we can go out to dinner. Although she was a bit under the weather yesterday and took the day off, we've both had a touch of something the last couple of days, it seems to have hit her harder than it hits me though.

Have a great day, enjoy the students leaving, traffic dwindling down and internet speeds around town speeding up.

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out, time to look at some of the 30,000+ photos that I have stored on my computer. I like to find just one and post it up and recall or relive the picture to the best of my ability. Sometimes this is a pretty easy task and sometimes it's not that easy, one thing it has always been a whole lot of fun.

This weeks pic is one that I played around with the editing a little bit, it was from Christmas Eve in 2007 when we all met at Klaer Lodge (the night Michelle stood me up on a date). We had all grabbed a series of group pictures that night and this is one of me and the siblings that I knew at the time. Jonathan wasn't discovered for some years later.

Well I superimposed Dad's picture into this one, as if he is watching over all of us. I thought it was a nice little touch after the fact.

Have yourselves a great day.

Wednesday

Hey what do you know about that, two days are down and you have two more ahead of you and today is the day we get up and over that noontime hump and see the dawn of another weekend off in the Horizon once again.

Well wish me a little luck today, with the job search. I have an interview this afternoon with the parent company itself, ESRI. I put in for a couple of jobs from them a few weeks ago and they are finally getting around to me. Not sure if anything will come of this, as it would be a job a little out of my skillset but my area of expertise if that makes any sense. I've really got my fingers crossed and I think this would be the cherry on top of my career if it comes to fruition.

I'm glad we got the grass cut on Saturday, plus the bent blade experience, simply because it has been kind of cold and wet all week. Not the most pleasurable time of the year, but the WVU students are halfway through their finals and starting to clear their ways out of town. Less traffic will be such a pleasure, now if we can just get past all the road construction, especially on the Mileground.

Have yourselves a great day, make it memorable.

* How about I start doing my favorite Tic Tok of the week? This is this weeks Tic Tok, gotta love the Minions and how they relate to West Virginia.

* Have a great day.

Weekend is Over

All right all you working stiffs, that fun-filled thing that we all refer to as the weekend is over with, now it is time to take your collective noses and stick them back onto the grindstone to do what you do that makes this a better world to live in.

You will probably notice it's quiet around town this week, as this is finals week for the students at WVU. The last Finals should be on Friday and that will also be Cinco De Mayo so there may be a party or two around town before most of them clear out for the summer. It's been a long school year, and now it is closing for the Semester. Graduation will be next weekend and that is when traffic will really die down around town for three months. I used to hate to see the students leave, but that was many years ago today I am getting ready to say Get the Hell Out of My Town! and have a nice Summer.

Weather looks like a bunch of rain this week, good thing we got the grass cut Saturday afternoon. If it does clear up and we have a nice day, I'm thinking about charging my drone and going out and flying it somewhere, Break out the 2023 maiden voyage, I just need to charge it and the controller before I take on such a task. I do need to find someplace new and exciting to try to fly it. I've really got to take a little time out and do this when the weather breaks while I have a chance.

Have yourselves a great day and a great start to a productive week. Make some memories while you're at it and remember, it's May already. =)

Sunday

Here Kiwi in a quiet household, we are once again talking about what a good draft the Pittsburgh Steelers managed to put together over the last three days. I'm quite happy with it and Kiwi is still mad that they didn't draft a bird, although he's really an Eagles fan (the whole bird theme).

Since it is and has been calling for rain all last week and this week coming, I wanted to get ahead of the grass before all the rain causes it to grow too much and I'm battling tall grass to cut, so I cut it yesterday afternoon. A funny little story though, last year Michelle hit a meter in the ground and bent one of the blades straight up. We (or should I say Michelle) took it off and we but a new blade on. We were good to go, until I hit a big stone in the yard yesterday that I didn't see and evened the scoreboard up 1-1 on bent blades. So now we have a new set ready to go on, the new set we put on it yesterday so we could cut the grass and two sets with 1 bend blade each. I can take the two non-bent blades and have them sharpened and have two sets of backup blades now.

As of Press time the Mountaineers have had 1 player drafted in the NFL Draft. Dante Stills was selected in the 6th round by the Arizona Cardinals. It has been a couple of years, he is the first Draft Pick since Tony Fields was selected in the 2021 Draft.

Not much planned for the day, doing some chicken for dinner. I picked up a whole chicken at Harry's on Thursday and we want to try that new run I got in Pittsburgh on Monday.

It was 13 years ago today that I proposed to Michelle after making her wait 777 days. Best decision I ever made.

Have yourselves a great day.

Saturday, April 29, 2023

Saturday

Here Kiwi and I sit in the early AM, we're discussing the NFL draft and how it has been going for the Pittsburgh Steelers. I like how it's been going, but he seems to be upset that no birds have been drafted and why the Steelers are called the Steelers, he thinks the Kiwi's is the appropriate name for them.

No big plans for us today, I got all of our running around and laundry done yesterday morning, so that means the working lady gets to sleep in this morning. Unless of course Kiwi grabs her attention. I should have cut grass on Wednesday, but it wasn't long enough and it's been calling for rain the past couple of days and all the way into next week. We'll get to it eventually.

I've seen that mine and Michelle's favorite fruit stand is set up around town. Mal's has a brick-and-mortar store on the old Cheat Road, but she is starting to set her stands up for summer. She does seem to have the best produce around town and has a really nice set up. We bought from her numerous times last year and late in the year bought a bunch of corn on the cob and parboiled it, and took it off the cobs and froze it. When we wanted fresh corn over the winter, just grab a baggie and walla. There is a huge difference between canned and fresh corn and that is why we go the extra distance.

No plans, but that doesn't mean we're not going to get into anything.

Have yourself a great Saturday, make some memories with someone special.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

I took a nice little trip up to Harry's yesterday to buy some meat to throw in the freezer. Usually when I start to get a little low on Hamburger is when I go up, plus I got some stew meat and a chicken for Sunday. We're going to use that chicken spice I bought in Pittsburgh Monday on the chicken. I bought a whole frozen chicken, which means it is local and you know it is going to be good.

I did stop and see my Sister Terri yesterday on the way back home, I stopped in and BS'd with her for a little while she was working. The place was pretty much dead with the exception of one individual who came in and won some money then left. Lucky guy just put a few bucks in, took a small hit and cashed in. That's pretty much how I gamble when I do.

I did see where Jerry Springer passed away yesterday. He had been battling Pancreatic Cancer and not too many people win that battle. I know from Jean's diagnosis till her death it was just one year and she was doing anything and everything she could to battle it. It's an ugly disease.

Have yourselves a great day and a great start to your weekend.

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out, time to look at some of the 30,000+ photos that I have stored on my computer. Little lost moments in time that I either captured with a lens, scanned, or just stole from someplace on the internet. I like to find just one and post it up and recall or relive the picture to the best of my ability. Sometimes this is a pretty easy task and sometimes it's not that easy, one thing it has always been a whole lot of fun.

This week's pic goes back a few years, to say the least, back to when Hayley was getting ready to leave for the first day of her Senior Year at Morgantown High. She was up and at em early and ready to begin that final year of her formal education.

With the Columbia coffee mug in hand, a stylish top and everything she needed to start the education process one more time, she was ready. I grabbed this pic because it was a special day, if not to her to me and Michelle. About a month later she was acting in the Metropolitan Theatres production of Sweeney Todd that Michelle and I both attended. When the cast ran out into the audience as part of the play she ran right down our isle and stole Chad's hat all in one swift motion.

Just goes to show you how fast time flies by.

Have yourselves a great day, do something special.

Hump Day

Hey what do you know about that, two days are down and you have two more ahead of you and today is the day we get up and over that noontime hump and see the dawn of another weekend off in the Horizon.

As I confessed on Monday, I wrote yesterday's blog early so as that I could travel to Pittsburgh on Monday and do what I needed to do. I did have a plan of action and half-executed it, but things didn't turn out as expected.

By half-executed I mean that I drove to South Hills Village and decided to take the Metro into downtown, there was a stop just a block from the corporate office and I thought that would be perfect. Plus Parking in downtown Pittsburgh on a Monday is difficult to find and expensive, the parking garage closest to the corporate office was $14 an hour to park and I needed at least 3 hours of parking. So plan B was to park at South Hills Village and ride into downtown on the train, the do the same thing in reverse and save me quite a few bucks.

Aurora Blue Herbal Tea
I got to South Hills Village and checked my phone messages, their system had gone down and we had to reschedule my testing for May 11th at 1:00. I could have done it this coming Tuesday at 9:00, but chose the later date. I think Michelle may actually go up with me that day, I stopped and found a Tea Place that I bought her some tea from and she loved one of the ones I got her and she wants to visit.  This was the Aurora Blue Herbal Tea, I got her a Florida Sunshine Tea and I think the Organic Beauty Rest Herbal Tea and she really liked all three with the Auroa Blue (pictured) probably as her favorite of the three.

Have yourselves a great day today, do something special and make it memorable.

Tuesday's Tidbits

 * Monday is behind us  and I'm back from the Byrg, can't think of a better reason to do a tidbits.

* It has been 21,663 days since I was born, that is 21 years using my new,  new, and improved 1,000-day Calender. I do have to say I start to feel my age or older than 21.

* It has been 6,923 days since I graduated from WVU with a Degree in Geography. A field that I am still passionate about.

* 5,511 days ago Michelle and I had our first date together, the pizza hut is gone, the movie was 10,000 BC and it sucked to high heaven.

* I have now lived 1,895 days longer than my Dad did and I'm still going strong. It's almost two years according to my birthday age calendar.

* My older Brother Jonathan lived 21,266 days, I've now outlived him by 418 days making me Senior Supreme Sibling once again! To my younger siblings, bow down to my age seniority. =)

* I have 3,177 days to go until I retire, give or take a few hundred days here or there, but I love doing what I do. Who knows though, doing what I do I may never retire.

* 284 more days until Phil steps to center stage again for Groundhogs Day, I'm loving the springtime.

* 250 more days to go until my Goodbye 2023 Blog is posted, I'm just now getting started on content for that one.

* There are 244 more shopping days left until Christmas 2023. You still have plenty of time to prepare and get ready. =)

* There are 220 days until I hit the age of 60. Yeah I know, I'm really older than 21.

* There are 143 more days until the Pitt Panthers bring their butts to Morgantown so we can get some revenge on our game this year.

* There are 137 more days to go until the Mountaineers travel to Happy Valley and get another shot at an old-time Rival, Penn State. It;s a game that will be at nighttime on NBC so it's going to have a big audience.

* There are 101 more days to go until Michelle and I celebrate our Twelfth Wedding Anniversary together.

* There are 57 days until my second favorite season, the Summer of 2023.

* I have written 7,156 blogs in the now 18 1/2 years plus a couple of days of being a blogger.

* I'm back to writing a daily blog as opposed to batch writing them on Sunday to cover the work week. Unless I have something planned out the day before like I did yesterday and I wrote this in advance.

* How about I start doing my favorite Tic Tok of the week? This is this weeks Tic Tok, do you believe George Foreman is 74. Trivia Question, do you know what all his kids names are? Boys and Girls, it;s George.

* Have a great day.

* I'm looking I'm looking

It's a Pittsburgh Kind of Day

It's that time of the week when all you working stiffs need to stop having all that weekend fun and get back to doing what you do that makes this rock a better place to live. Take those collective noses and stick them onto the grindstone for another fun-filled week of improving this place.

For me it is off to Pittsburgh today. Duquesne Light has  GIS position open and they need me to come to Pittsburgh and test for the position, it's a Union position so they just want to make sure that I am competent, but I'll be competing with a few others who are also seeking this position. Those of us who worked for them over the last year and a half have the advantage, as we have already been working on the project, but we'll still have to compete for it now. It's pretty much going to be an all-day thing for me today.

Michelle loves her new Waterpik, it arrived Saturday so she did a little spring cleaning in the bathroom as I was preoccupied watching football and got everything organized in there.

Nothing really on either of our agendas beyond today, she'll go and visit her Mom this evening as she does every Monday afternoon. I'm taking her car to Pittsburgh today so I don't have to sit in Pittsburgh Traffic driving a 5 speed.

Have yourselves a great and memorable day, make is special.

Sunday

Here Kiwi and I once again sit on a quiet Sunday Morning, Kiwi is up trying to convince me yet again he would be a better football coach than Neal Brown and to get him an interview with Wren Baker. He thinks Wren is another bird rather than a human and thinks he can convince him to hire him.

I watched the WVU Football Spring game yesterday, I saw a few bright spots, but there is a lot of work to do. The players are there, the coaching just is not. Our problems are not from a lack of talent, it's a coach whose too worried about minute things rather than on focusing on what he needs to be. Timing and repetition are they keys to any successful football team, this offensive line has been together for basically four years and they are all pretty good players, as a unit however they are going to be our weakness. I don't think we have the personnel behind center that this team needs to run an offense where the QB reads through progressions, we are going to be forced to be a heavy run team and defenses are just going to load up because we do not have a downfield passing game with any consistency. It's going to be a long season to say the least.

Michelle did a deep cleaning on the bathroom yesterday, she listened to 70's on 7 on Sirrus XM and sprayed down the floor tile and took my drill with a brush attachment, and went to town on the grout. It looks like a brand-new bathroom.

Today we're going to go and do our weekly grocery shopping as we do every Sunday. I don't think we have too much planned other than that. I'll probably be doing a little bit of studying as I am going to travel to Pittsburgh tomorrow. Duquesne Light is hiring a staff GIS role, so I have to go up and test against everyone else to see if I can get on there full-time permanently. I have to brush up on my math and a few other things, it comes naturally to me so it's just remembering what I learned years ago.

Have yourselves a great day, make it memorable and hug your green cheek conure and hope he don't bite you.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit in a quiet household, Kiwi and I are up discussing some complex questions about internet searches. He is always a great resource for me to fall back when I need it. He's such a good bird.

Well everything I would have done last night or early this morning I did yesterday Morning. That means I don't need to take a trip tp the laundromat this morning and dry clothes, they are already washed and dried and I did Sams and Walmart yesterday Morning.

Michelle did have a little bit of an incident this week. Her bottom jaw started to hurt on Monday and spread across her mouth. To the point where her jaw was swelling and I told her to get to the dentist in case it is an abscessed tooth/ It was pretty concerning and it was causing her a whole lot of discomfort and pain to the point where she could not sleep.

Thursday she finally went to the dentist and low and behold, she had a popcorn kernel stuck underneath on of her teeth. The dentist took a water pic and forced the kernel out giving her instant relief. So I ordered her a Waterpick and it should be here today according to the tracking number. Needless to say when the kernel was released from under her tooth it was instant relief, so I figured it was worth the investment.

Nothing really planned for today, although the Mountaineer Football team is playing their spring game today at 1:00. It's being broadcast on ESPN+ and I'll be watching it from the comfort of home.

Have yourselves a great day, make it special and memorable. If you need something to do, go tickle a frog.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

Actually, for me it is going to be a day of me running around and doing things that I would have done this evening and tomorrow morning. Laundromat, Walmart and Sam's Club are my new agenda for the day. Stuff that I used to rush around to do, now I'll get done today so Michelle and I can have some time to ourselves. No running around or synchronizing with the clock for us this weekend. Plus Michelle has been under the weather the past few days due to her teeth bothering her.

Peanut has been loving the warm weather of the last few days, she has spent her days outside having fun and frolicking like she used to, but these days she's about at half-frolicked and half sleep out in the sun. When she was younger she was one to go out and explore, now she's just content in playing hunter and getting dads wrath for taking out birds and offering them up to us.

Have yourselves a great day.

This weeks Photo Flashback is actually thanks to my Facebook Memories. This popped up for me yesterday and I was about to share it there and thought, I need a Photo Flashback for over here and Walla. Hayley is my Photo Flashback for this week.

It was 14 years ago on my timeline, so we all must have just moved in together and the three of us all went Geocaching. Ironically this cache was actually down in Van Voorhis, as you are walking towards Star City where the old train bridge is located. This cache was under the bridge pretty much In think it was this one.

Have yourselves a great day and make your own memories.

Monday

All right all you working stiffs, stick those noses on the grindstone, and let's get to making this a better world to live in while I look for my next opportunity.

Yesterday was productive, something I was planning on doing the past couple of weeks I was able to do for the first time this year. I managed to get the grass cut for the first time in 2023. It was starting to annoy me and it was just starting to grow up with all the rain that we have had, so I did my best to get ahead of it before it got ahead of me.

With all the rain that we have had where the ground has been wet, my windows of opportunity have been very limited to say the least, so I took advantage of the opportunity when I had the chance. Grass is now cut Yee Haw!!

No plans for this week for me other than Job hunting. I usually get them coming to me, but it doesn't hurt putting your name and resume out there which I have been doing.

Have yourselves a great, productive and memorable day.

Sunday

Here Kiwi and I sit on a quiet Sunday Morning, we are discussing the gender reveal yesterday and we were both wrong. I said Girl, Kiwi said Bird and Michelle was the only one who got it right with team Boy. I tried to guess both a boy's and a girl's names, and I said George for both of them.

Grocery shopping this morning is on our agenda, like every other week. Shopping and chores are redundant but necessary acts to make the next week go smoothly.

I'm still planning on cutting grass some time in the near future, I was going to do it yesterday bt the grass was a little wet and it rained in the morning. We did get the AC put in, the branches that were around the yard picked up and I was able to drop the trailer from the tractor, so now it's just a matter of cutting the grass. My schedule is wide open now so I'll get it some some nice day this week.

Yesterday we managed to go to the yard sale up at Woodland that Jim and Chris were in on, we did manage to pick up a nice dog harness for Lucy for the grand price of $0.25.

Have yourselves a great day and make it memorable.

Saturday, April 15, 2023

Saturday

Here Kiwi and I sit on a quiet Saturday Morning, we're up discussing whether or not Jeaneatta's Baby reveal is going to be a boy or a girl, Kiwi insists that rather than boy or girl we should be discussing species, and he says bird. I say Human.

My first task today will be heading to the Laundromat to dry clothes, as my time frees up now something tells me that I'll just be doing this on Fridays and not having to worry about beating any crowds.

We're thinking about putting the AC Unit back in the bedroom, that way I can use the dump wagon the back of the tractor to clean up some brush that has fallen over the winter before we actually get a chance to cut grass for the first time this year.

Then we are planning on going to the big baby reveal this afternoon when Calvin and Jeanetta find out whether they are having a little boy or girl (no it's not a bird, sorry Kiwi). I think Michelle is going to be on team boy, and I'm going to be on team girl. Would you believe this will be the first time I have ever went to or even been invited to a gender reveal, I'm kind of excited for them. I will have my camera in tow to grab any pictures that I can get.

Oh and if you haven't filed your taxes for this year yet, you might want to get on that.

Have yourselves a great day.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

Today is my last day working under a Contract for Duquesne Light, our portion of the project has wound down and it's going to be turned over to the internal team after today. I am going to Pittsburgh this morning to turn all of my equipment in as it is all the property of Duquense Light. I work for a Company called ConsultUSA but they do not have anything available with my skillset, so I need to continue looking for employment. I have a few things in the hopper, but no offers on the table at this time. I'm thankful to Consult USA and Duquense Light for giving me the opportunity over the past 18 months to do something I love, now it is on to the next thing for me when it presents itself. I've been offered two jobs in the last year, both of which I turned down so I know I am at least marketable.

Plans for this weekend, I'm going to try to get the grass cut tomorrow and Michelle's AC unit put in before we head out to the gender reveal. I'm sure I can find something to do to keep me busy.

Have yourselves a great day

One last time, Hi ho hi ho

One of my favorite pics from my youth, that is me the bald guy on the left and Grandpa Hall, the Bald Guy on the right, up at Coopers Rock. I'm not sure what year this picture was taken, I would say 1966 or 67 at  my best guess.

I do remember we used to live at the old house in Van Voorhis and I was wearing a shirt that said I'm a Little Stinker with a button in the middle of the shirt that made a noise. I do remember before going o Coopers that day that I was out in front of the house running around barefoot and I stepped on a bee and got stung. Yes I learned from mistake and never stepped on a bee again without having shies on.

Have yourselves a great day

Monday

Well that nice Holiday weekend is now behind us, now it is time to concentrate on the tasks at hand and get back to it for another week of doing what it is that we do for a living. Let's stick those noses back onto the grindstone and start another week of making this a better rock to live on.

This is my last week contracting for Duquense Light, we have pretty much gotten the who Outage Management System built and ready to hand over to the internal team. It's been a very fun and profitable project for me that was supposed to last for three months and lasted a year and a half instead. I've met a lot of great people, learned a few new things and am grateful for the opportunity that I was bestowed. I turn my equipment in on Friday, so a trip to Pittsburgh will be in the works.

There is nothing lined up for after this week yet, I left RTI last October because I couldn't give them the hours they wanted while I was putting in 60 hours a week on this project. So now for the first time since I really can't remember when, I will be completely unemployed after this week. No worries though, I have a number of things in the hopper so that situation hopefully won't last too long if at all. For the last year I have been doing 12 hour shifts pretty much without any true breaks, meaning days I had to make up the hours or lose the opportunity for that income.

Maybelline and Gracie are still with us for the time being, Hayley and Tyler fly in today and will either come down to get the dogs today or tomorrow. Peanut has been in the back bedroom hiding since they got here, so I'm sure she wants to come back out and visit us.

Have yourselves a great day.

Happy Easter

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Happy Easter today.  From our pet filled household that includes a bossy Green Cheek Conure, a fat cat, a shy cat, a little dog and a big dog and a couple of humans to watch and take care of all them, to yours we would like to wish you a very Happy Easter.

No Sunday morning chores this morning other than the few things we do like sorting pills for the week and, cleaning up the litter Geneie and replacing Kiwi's Bedding, it's pretty much going to be a day at home. We went yesterday and did our grocery shopping for the week.

Yesterday was in fact a busy and productive day. I went out first thing to the Laundromat and dried clothes, came home and showered and Michelle and I headed off to Krogers to do our weekly shopping. She had ordered a Banana Cream Pie this week from Apple Annies, so we headed over there after grocery shopping to eat breakfast (if you have never eaten breakfast from there, I highly recommend it) and pick up our pie. Were we done? Nope, we came home and put the groceries away and got the lawn tractor started up for the first time in 2023 just to give it the first start up of the year after sitting all winter. Then it was off to Woodland United Methodist Church for an Easter Bake Sale that they were having, before we headed on over to Mount Union Cemetary where we sprayed down Grandma and Grandpa Halls headstones, his brother Lincolns and Glenna Mae's. We also did a few similar headstones that were around that just needed a good cleaning. They already stand out from the road surface from what we did last year, we sprayed and scrubbed them again this year and am letting nature take it's course.

Since we are dog sitting this weekend, Michelle and I are staying home for Easter. It's the only time of the year the house has deviled eggs and I just can't pass that up.

Have yourselves a wonderful day and a very Happy Easter. I wonder if I can find Peter Cottontail on the TV or maybe I'll just post it here.
