Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit in a quiet household, Kiwi is on my work computer trying to figure out this GIS thing that dad does so he can give me some of his expert advice on a few things that I do. He is such an intuitive bird, always looking to expand his skills sets and learn new things.

It looks like I am going to have a couple of months worth of work for Parsons starting this upcoming week. They have been trying to get this project and have been approved for it, so that will keep me busy for a couple of months as I continue to look for new contracts to work on. I've been off the last month looking for a new project/contract, so this gives me a little bit more time through the holidays to continue to look. I'm already a Parsons employee, so picking up this task was a lot easier than when I was contracted to them through Lancesoft.

So what is on today's and our weekend agenda? JT is having a Birthday Party today at noon at Amanda and Joey's house. So that will start our weekend off. The Mountaineers play their last home game of the season this afternoon at 3:30 so there is always that to look forward to. Tomorrow Morning Michelle, Chris and Dani are heading up to Jon and Laura's as they are throwing a Baby shower for Laura tomorrow. The three will head up tomorrow morning and return in the evening, so I will be entertaining our non-human friends and be teaching Kiwi GIS, he is such an intuitive bird.

Have yourselves a great day.

Big Ole Hairy Fiday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

Kiwi has decided to study a little more before challenging Peanut to any more chess games. Last weeks game was a total disaster and even though he thought he was ready, he wasn't. He's thinking of challenging her in another game, perhaps Kluster which is very strategic, but there is a lot of luck that goes along with it. I do have this game, so maybe we can do a multi player game with eliminations.

The High School Football playoffs after missing last week due to some legal battles, should hopefully have the playoffs set and let teams get back onto the field, or else you eliminate all the adults and just let the kids play without all the adult bureaucracy. We are now a week behind in the playoffs and the clock is ticking.

Plans for the weekend? Michelle is going to JT's birthday here in Morgantown tomorrow and then turning around and heading north with her sisters for Laura's Baby shower up in Elwood City. Me, I'm watching football...lol

Have yourselves a great day.

Photo Flasback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out, time to look at some of the 30,000+ photos that I have stored on my computer. Little lost moments in time that I either captured with a lens, scanned or just stole from someplace on the internet. I like to find just one and post it up and recall or relive the picture to the best of my ability. Sometimes this is a pretty easy task and sometimes it's not that easy, one thing it has always been a lot of fun.

What Christmas season would be complete without sipping some cool refreshing drinks out of your very own Marty Moose mug? Marty Moose, the mascot from the fictional Vacation Movie (traveling to Walley World) and a prop in the Christmas Vacation Movie (along with cousin Eddie) is a seasonal favorite. I do in fact have my very own Marty Moose mug.

It is actually still in a box with the majority of some of our Chrisatmas stuff, but Sammy the Elf on a Shelf has been rumored to be making an appearance this season.

Have yourselves a great day.

Monday

I hope everyone's Monday is awesome and you do what you need to do to make this a better rock to live on. It's what we all strive and work for. Go make it happen. Give me some fingers crossed this week for Michelle in her Job Search, she has a followup interview.

Me, I hate the down time I get but last week I started to do some GIS things at home, trainings and an attempt to expand my skill sets a little bit, it makes the downtime a little more bearable during the transition. It keeps me occupied and interested, and I'm growing my skillsets. It helps it keeps my interest and I love what I do, it's fun creating geospatial data and answering questions with analysis.

Is everyone decorated for Christmas yet? Michelle has has a little tree up for over a month, it started out as a Halloween Tree and now is a Christmas Tree, the house is and has been festive for a few weeks. She has actually used the sewing machine and made some runners for the Mantle and the top of the TV stand that all match. She had a set for Halloween as well, and let's not forget all of the candles that we have made.

Have yourselves a great day, make it a good one.

Sunday

Kiwi, Peanut and Gracie
Here I sit in a quiet household, Peanut and Kiwi have had a houseguest all weekend as Gracie has stayed with us the last couple of nights. We spent all day yesterday watching Football together and we are planning on doing that today as well as the Steelers and Ravens play at 1:00. All three are really big football fans and it shows. We are all Steelers fans here.

Did anyone watch the Mike Tyson - Jake Paul fight Friday night? Netflix had a real problem with their servers in serving out this live event, there was a lot of pixelation and buffering going on that made it pretty much unwatchable. My internet speed was good, I could watch other things on Netflix, but the demand for that fight was just too much. I was able to stream it tethering from my phone to my computer and watch it. I was really hoping for a knockout, but father time catches up with everyone including Iron Mike Tyson. I stayed up waaaay past my bedtime Friday night, I was actually up until Saturday Morning watching the event.

So what is on today's agenda? A little bit of grocery shopping, chores around the house and of course watching the Steelers this afternoon with all of the animals. You know it has been said that they are all three Football fans as well as Steeler fans.

Have yourselves a great day today, make it special.

Saturday Chess Rematch

Here I sit in a nonquiet household, Kiwi was preparing all week to play Peanut and beat her in a game of chess. He had studied all kinds of strategies for playing online Chess and he was very confident he was going to destroy her. Well Peanut is a Grandmaster in Chess and despite Kiwi's new strategy, they were to no avail as Peanut was just toying with Kiwi and absolutely destroyed him. It's now Peanut 2 and Kiwi 0 but Kiwi vows he will beat her, he is going to regroup and learn a few more strategies. Peanut is just going to sit back and relax as Kiwi is no match for her. Maybe we will be another rematch next weekend.

Well there was no High School Playoffs last night, too many adults got involved with the court systems and denied the kids a chance to play. They have been postponed for a week and they will start this coming weekend.

West Virginia is at home this afternoon with a game against Baylor, the game starts at 4:00 at Milan Puskar Stadium. Which means that there is a home game this afternoon, avoid the stadium area as there will be an increase in vehicular traffic around the stadium.

Have yourselves a great day

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

Kiwi is absolutely determined to get revenge from the chess game he and Peanut played a couple weeks ago. He's not aware that Peanut is a Chess Cat Master and is very good at playing chess. He is absolutely certain with his new found chess knowledge, that he is going to beat her. I just taught him how it is possible to put your opponent in Checkmate in only two moves (see illustration) and he thinks he's going to try that strategy on her, but I don't think Peanut os that Gullible.

Are you ready for a little bit of High School Football? I am, too, and it is now the playoffs. Win or end your season with the last team standing. Morgantown ranked #6 in AAAA will host a game against Cabell Midland here in Morgantown. University is on the road to take on Huntingon. Clay Battelle did not qualify for the playoffs and Trinity forfeited their season earlier on. Good luck to both Morgantown and University High this evening.

Have yourselves a great day.

I like to find just one and post it up and recall or relive the picture to the best of my ability. Sometimes this is a pretty easy task and sometimes it's not that easy, one thing it has always been a lot of fun.

This weeks pic goes all the way back to the mid-late 1950's, back when Dad still had his NBA dreams alive and he was playing for the mighty Van Voorhis School. My Dad by the way is in the front row and all the way on the left. If my math is right, this was about the time that Jerry West and the Mountaineers were the #1 team in the country. They played for the National Championship the next season, but lost.

I hear Dad was holding out for a Nike shoe Deal, which hadn't been invented yet, instead of the common Chuck Taylor Canvas Converse that everyone wore during those years. I think I even wore them clear up to about Jr High School. It was Nike not existing at that time that Dad decided to give up his NBA dreams and go back to being a kid.

Have yourselves a great day.

Monday

I hope everyone's Monday is awesome and you do what you need to do to make this a better rock to live on. It's what we all strive and work for. Go make it happen if you are working today which is Veterans Day.

Yes it is in fact Veteran's Day, if you know a Veteran, take a little bit of time out and thank them for their sacrifice so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we do.

Many restaurants offer free or reduced meals for Veterans including some local restaurants. So if you have served our national, enjoy a free or reduced meal on them.

Other than that, no plans on the agenda. I have a meeting tomorrow with the state and Parsons is securing some work, Michelle has an interview today, more to come on that when I know something more concrete.

Have yourselves a great day.

Sunday

Here I sit in a quiet household, Peanut is off sleeping, but Kiwi is studying intensely and wants a Chess rematch with Penaut next week. He's been studying all night, playing chess on the internet and he is bound and determined to challenge Peanut next weekend and try to get his revenge.

So what is on our agenda for the day? Typical Sunday stuff, get our household chores and shopping done and get ready to watch the Steeler game this afternoon. I think a pork roast is on our menu for the days dinner.

Michelle's Cousin Julie came into town, she brought her Mom Charlotte (who is Michelle's Mom's Sister) for a visit as well as going to the auction. They stayed overnight last night and plan on heading back home this morning.

The Mountaineers went to Cincinnati yesterday and beat the Bearcats 31-24. We didn't play our best game offensively, but the Defense scored two touchdowns and special teams had 141 worth of return yards that helped the Mountaineers bring home the win. Time to regroup and prepare for Baylor next week here in Morgantown.

Have yourselves a great day.

Auction Saturday

Here I sit in a non-quiet household. Kiwi is taking a break from studying to be a Doctor and has decided he wants to be like Uncle Jim and be an Auctioneer. He's been practicing all night and into the early morning just in case Jim and Chris need any assistance this evening.

Speaking of an Auction, Jim and Chris (otherwise known as P&P Auctions) is having their biggest auction of the year. The 2024 Christmas Auction starting this afternoon at 4:00, a couple of hours earlier than their traditional start time because of the size of this auction. Michelle will be there assisting at the front door, stop over and say hello and tell her you found out about this auction on George's Journal and you could be a VIP Member (where they let you sit down during the auction). It is going to be a big auction with plenty of Christmas stuff for everyone. They spent all day yesterday setting up for today's auction, so there will be plenty of auction items.

What is on my agenda? I'm going to watch football. It's Saturday in the fall, and the Mountainers play today at noon against the Cincinnati Bearcats at their place. Hopefully, it should be a good one, and the Mountaineers can return home with this one in the win column. Starting QB Garrett Greene is once again out this game due to an upper body injury (concussion), so Nicco Marchiol will be behind center for the Mountaineers.

Have yourselves a great day.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

Are you looking for a little bit of High School Football? Well this is the last week of the regular season, 11 weeks come and gone and this is the end of it. Morgantown is off this week as they prepare for next weeks playoffs. Univerity High is playing host to Oak Hill and will try to secure a home playoff spot for next week, but it looks like they might start the playoffs on the road. Clay Battelle (5-4) is on the road and finishes their regular season at Magnolia. Good luck to all the local teams tonight. Let's have everyone end the regular season on a positive note.

Are you looking for something to do tomorrow? Well Jim and Chris and P&P Auctions are having their Christmas Auction tomorrow starting at 4:00 at Woodland United Methodist Church. It's always a great time and this is going to be a big auction, doors open at 2:00 and the auction starts at 4:00. Come early, find yourself some decorations and have a great time.

Have yourselves a great day.

I like to find just one and post it up and recall or relive the picture to the best of my ability. Sometimes this is a pretty easy task and sometimes it's not that easy, one thing it has always been a lot of fun.

This one is very special to me, I know the date was January 7, 1973 and it was Grandpa Hall's 80th Birthday Party. It was held at the old house that used to be right beside Drummond Chapel Church,  which is now Suncrest United Methodist Church. Grandpa was the custodian, and used to go to work at 4:00 in the morning, hence where me waking up at 4:00 all the time probably stems from. He either retired its day or around here and we moved down the road to the home where we lived when they both passed.

I think the church put this on for him, so it extended way beyond family as there was a big turnout that day. Days gone by and a lost moment in time.

Have yourselves a magical day and make your own memories.

Monday

Kiwi trying to figure out what went wrong
I hope everyone's Monday is awesome and you do what you need to do to make this a better rock to live on. It's what we all strive and work for. Go make it happen.

I think Peanut has absolutely created a monster by defeating Kiwi this weekend. He's studying the board like he never has before, replaying the game in his mind and strategizing talking about how he is going to seek his revenge and beat the cat Grand Master Peanut. I told him may play her in Monopoly, something where he can change the rules as the game goes on.

It is election day eve, tomorrow is the one day that we have every four years when we vote for President, Senators, and Congressmen both on the Federal and State level. We vote for all the local elections and about anything and everything else. If you have not voted yet, please make plans to do your civic duty today, it is your one voice that you have. If you have already voted like Michelle and I, tomorrow night will be when we are all peeled to the TV to see who will be our next President.

Meanwhile, I rarely get into TV shows, but I have found one that I really like in Tulsa King. If you have Paramount Plus, it's pretty addictive. I watched all of the first season a few weekends ago and have now caught up in everything in the second season. New shows are released every Sunday.

Have yourselves a great day.

Sunday

Here I sit in a semi-quiet household, yesterday Kiwi thought he was going to get the better of his sister Peanut in a Chess Game, little did he know that Peanut is a Grand Cat Master and wiped the board with my green little friend. Peanut proved to be the better chess player. The wager she suckered him in on was additional Cat Treats vs Additional Bird Treats. Peanut is celebrating with her favorite treats, Temptations Catnip Fever.

Yesterday Michelle went over to the Craftsfair at Westwood. Would you believe that all my Halloween Decorations are now stored in Totes and my house including a Christmas Tree is all ready for Christmas 2024. It has been the first time we've really put up a tree other than that little 3' one we have used over the last few years. She has broken out the snow globes, the Michelle's Cookie Factory from OurTowne, bubble lights a decorated tree, stockings, Yoda Claus and a number of other decorations. We went and got some more candle making supplies and potpourri and we are ready to go...lol.

So what is on today's agenda? Typical Sunday chores and stuff we do every Sunday. Mountaineers were off yesterday and the Steelers are off today, at least I got to watch the MoHawk Bowl friday night and enjoyed some football by at least one level favorite team.

Have yourselves a great day. Peanut is still walking around strutting that she won the Chess game.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Kiwi and Peanut
Here I sit in a quiet household, Kiwi and Peanut are up or should I say have been up all night playing Chess. Kiwi has been spending a lot of time on the chess.com website trying to trick Peanut into thinking he is a Novice, but Peanut is just playing Kiwi for a sucker as she is a Grandmaster and is trying to lure him into making some kind of stupid wager.

Michelle has mentioned that she would like to go to the Westwood Craft Show today over at Westwood Middle School. I think she is looking for ideas to either decorate for Thanksgiving or Christmas now that we are in November and past Thanksgiving. The scary Halloween Tree will be losing it's ghosts and black cat decorations this week and will soon be replaced with something more festive to the season.

Of course if Michelle wants to find some Christmas Decorations, all Michelle would have to do is wait a week (Warning unpaid plog coming up) and go to the P&P Auctions "Our Best Christmas Auction EVER!!!" next weekend at Woodland United Methodist Church on the Mileground. That is next Saturday and it starts at 4:00 with the doors opening at 2:00. They are starting a couple of hours earlier than they usually do because they have so much stuff this year. Tell them you read George's Journal and get a stupid look from my lovely wife...lol

What is up for my day? No Mountaineers and no Steelers this weekend, that doesn't mean that I'm not going to be watching some football.

Michelle and I did run up to the crematory yesterday and picked up Maybelline's ashes for Hayley. That is the second pet that we have had cremated in the past few weeks. First it was Sophie, but Sophie died here at home. They had to put May down on Tuesday, she just had no quality of life and was suffering.

Have yourselves a great day, make it a good one and I'll update you on who won the chess game tomorrow.

We definitely have it happening this week. I think Clay Battelle is off this week after the big win last week. What about the Cross Town AAAA rivals? Morgantown and University, the Hawks vs the Mohigans? 4-4 University travels all the way across town to Pony Lewis Field to take on the 6-3 Morgantown Mohigans in the 2024 MoHawk Bowl. This one is for the bragging rights and has always been a very good game. I'm taking my Alma Mater Morgantown High to bring home a victory this evening. Go Mohigans and good luck to both teams this evening.

No big plans for the weekend, we will roll the clocks back on Sunday Morning, so this is the weekend that you get an extra hour of sleep as Daylight Savings time ends and it starts to get dark earlier.

Have yourselves a great day.

Since it is Halloweem I just had to go and use a picture from a Halloween Past. This one is from 2015, Ralph and Amy had hosted the evenings festivities and Ralphie hooked up a trailer with some hay bales to his 4 wheeler and drove the kids all around up where they lice to take them trick or treating.

Michelle rode along with them, she is in the yellow sweat shirt just having a great time.

Speaking of great times, have yourselves a great day.

* It has been 7,476 days since I graduated from WVU with a Degree in Geography. Has it really been that long? Wow.

* 6,063 days ago Michelle and I had our first date together. 10,000 BC, I was telling Peanut howlusy of a movie it was this weekend.

* Michelle has been living a clean and productive life and beat that alcohol demon 1,107 days ago today. It was three years this past Friday.

* My older Brother Jonathan lived 21,273 days, I've now outlived him by 966 days making me Senior Supreme Sibling once again!

Monday

I hope everyone's Monday is awesome and you do what you need to do to make this a better rock to live on. It;'s what we all strive and work for.

For me I have a little bit of bad news, my contract with EPE ended on Friday so I'm a guy with two jobs, and no work at this time. Kind of in a state of limbo. I'm still employed by Parsons and AliPro, but there is no billable work available at this time so I have to go to the unemployment office and tell them I have two jobs, but no work at this time.

I do have a few things in the hopper, so we will have to wait and see how things turn out. I am not working at this time, so there will be no hi ho hi ho's for the immediate future.

Kiwi has told me that he is on top of it and he'll find something in my skillset. I have a very resourceful bird to say the least.

Have yourselves a great day.

Sunday

Here I sit on a quiet Sunday Morning, Peanut is still napping and Kiwi is in his cage saying the Cancer Walk yesterday was a little much on him, he asked if it would be OK next year if he just flew it. I think his intentions are pooping on some people, so not sure him flying it is a good idea.

Speaking of the Cancer Walk, it had a really good turnout yesterday and Terri and her gang lead the entire pack from start to finish. I needed a checkered flag as they led the pack all the way around the field. The turnout was so good that they caught up and lapped some of the people at the end of the walk. She was a boot scootin and setting the pace. Mom and I enjoyed the race from the stands. Both Michelle and I did get our flu shots.

After that we ended up going to the old mall and voted. Turnout for that was surprisingly high, Michelle said her ballot was like #900 or so on the day, and it was pretty much crowded. I think a lot of people are voting early this cycle like they did in 2020.

Today, out plans are simply do what we do on any other Sunday. Do some shopping and prepare for the week ahead.

Have a great day.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Kiwi and Peanut
Here I sit in a semi-quiet household, Kiwi and Peanut are up early talking about how they want to do the Breast Cancer Survivors walk this morning to support their Aunt Terri. They both lost their sister Sophie last week from a cat form of breast cancer and they want to do all that they can do to raise awareness and support the survivors of Breast Cancer. Aunt Terri is their hero, they told me so.

Yes the Breast Cancer Survivors walk will in fact take place this morning and it will be held at Mylan Puskar Stadium. Registration begins at 9:00 and the walk begins at 10:00. Park on the Silver Lot (where the facilities building is). The Monongalia County Health Department will be there administering flu vaccines and both Michelle and I will be once again getting g our vaccines there. Last year we were going to go and pay for them until we found out at last year's walk that the health department was doing them for free, so we'll take full advantage of the opportunity.

After the walk I told Michelle I would like to do my civic duty and vote early in the 2024 Presidential Election. That way I don't have to worry about any crowds on Election Day or it interfering with work. Monongalia County has four locations where you can vote early if you choose to go that route. I am officially endorsing Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz for this election. I'm a GIS guy and Tim Walz actually gave the keynote address at this year's ESRI Conference in San Diego.

The Mountaineers do play this evening, it's a 7:30 game I think and we are playing at Arizona.

Have yourselves a superfantastic day, make it a good and productive one.

Morgantown after the road win last week is once again on the road and playing at Hedgesville. University High is at home taking on Preston. Clay Battelle is on the road to Beallesville Ohio. Good luck to all three teams this evening, bring home three wins for Monongalia County.

Plans for the weekend, well tomorrow is the Breast Cancer Walk at Milan Puskar Stadium at 10:00. I know Terri, Kim and Michelle are all walking, I'll be there to take pictures and capture the events of the day.

Have yourselves a great day.

This picture is from one of our cruises and on a formal night. On formal nights we were served lobster and it was a time to dress up and we did. This was from the first formal night before we went down to eat, we got dressed up. We would usually go down and get our pictures taken.

I don't remember what specific cruise we were on, but I know we were in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean on our way to Grand Turk.

Have yourselves a great day.

Monday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

We're pretty much on our own this week, both of our supervisors for our projects are away at a conference in Palm Springs and will be there all week. We're starting a huge project so we will be good to go this week without the need for too many meetings.

We should get sophies ashes back from the crematory either today or tomorrow. Michelle wrote an obituary for her over the weekend and it's published on their website. It is a little strange as there is no animal reminding me when it is 3:00 and they are wanting fed. Peanut is all happy go lucky and doesn't care and Kiwi, he just followed sophies lead when she would tell us that she was hungry.

Have yourselves a great day and let's kick off this week with a bang.

Sunday

Here I am once again in a quiet household, Kiwi and Peanut have decided that they are going to have themselves a down day and a day that they don't want to be a bird and a cat, but two siblings mourning the loss of their big sister Sophie. It is quiet here without her keeping the household straight as she wanted.

Michelle had a great time on the suicide walk yesterday, Julie and her clan came down and they walked all around Morgantown raising money for suicide awareness. She has another walk she is going to go on this coming Saturday for Breast Cancer Awareness with my sisters and a few others.

Now as far as the Mountaineers last night, I'm at a loss for words. We played horribly and the team is just not a very good team, I had high hopes coming into the season but Kansas State showed me last night that that was just an illusion.

What is on our repetitive agenda? Chores around the house and a little bit of grocery shopping for the house. Just a typical Sunday for us. The Steelers play at 8:20 this evening on NBC, so another night game for them.

Have a great day, make it special and make it memorable and do something special with someone special.

Saturday Morning

Kiwi and Peanut
Here I sit once again in a quiet household, Kiwi and Peanut are doing some research to help Mommy (that would be Michelle) pick up a new craft in candle making. We have all the supplies, fragrances, a double boiler, wicks, a couple bags of soy wax and all we are waiting for is the votive molds and they will be all set. Kiwi is still working on his doctorate, but wants to help Mommy make some candles.

Michelle has been busy this past week, we now have a Halloween/Fall Tree to make it nice and festive in the living room. She has got it all decorated up in a fall/Halloween theme, and she even went and replaced our old cinnamon-scented pine cones with fresh ones that have a nice strong scent to them. It smells really nice in here and Kiwi and Peanut like it.

If you are looking for some football, the Mountaineers do play at home tonight. It's a 7:30 game against Kansas State, that makes back-to-back night games for the Mountaineers in Morgantown. The Mountaineers are on the road for the next two weeks in Arizona and then at Cinncinatti. I hope for Neal Brown's sake after all the stuff he had to endure from the national media and fans this week they can pull out a win. He made a statement about the fans having fun instead of addressing last weeks loss and he has been raked over the coals for the statement.

Other than that not too much planned for the weekend, I think Fall has officially arrived this week. I know Michelle is planning on doing the suicide prevention walk this morning at Mylan Park. Her cousin Juli is coming down for the event.

4-3 after another loss last weekend is traveling to Parkersburg South to get back on the winning track this evening. 3-3 University will be traveling to Spring Mills and 4-3 Clay Battelle will be playing host to Cameron out in Blacksville. Hopefully all three teams can come home with wins tonight, but that is going to be a tall task to accomplish.

No real plans for us this weekend, but the Cancer Breast Cancer Survivor walk is next Saturday at the WVU Football Stadium for any and all who may be interested in participating. My Sister Terri will be joining the walk this year as a Breast Cancer Survivor and I'll be there to cheer her on.

Oh and before I forget, take a little time out and congratulate my wonderful wife, it was three years ago today she addressed and beat the alcohol demon. She is an amazing woman to say the very least.

The Mountaineers play at home once again this weekend in another night game tomorrow evening against Kansas State.

Have yourselves a great day and lets get this party started.

RIP Sophie, May 6, 2006 - October 17, 2024

18 1/2 Years Michelle had gotten this little kitty years ago, back in 2006 and she has been with us ever since. She was a loving cat with an attitude and would let you know she was the boss. She would always sit on the back of Michelle's chair and bite her hair. The last year her health started to deteriorate and we made the decision that we were just going to make her comfortable. He had a heating pad that never shut off and a circulating water fountain that Michelle would always put ice in for her. We knew the inevitable was coming, and it came this afternoon at around 5:30 this evening. She went peacefully in her home and on her heating pad that she had grown quite fond of. She was a good cat and will be missed. She has crossed the rainbow bridge and is playing with her sisters on the other side.

She would always let me know when it was 3:00, that was her feeding time and she was like clockwork.

We have decided to have her remains cremated and put together a shadow box like Michelle did for Phin. She was the last surviving pet from when Michelle and I moved in together and she did pass comfortable and at home.

This picture goes back to 2011. I was actually getting ready to head into work as we were preparing to kickoff an international effort for a Carbon Sequestration Atlas. It was a three-country effort between the US, Canada and Mexico and we were having a two day conference at WVU to kick off the effort.

It was very rarely that I wore a tie to work, only when I was traveling to Pittsburgh or some special event was happening. WVU was hosting the conference even thought we basically took all of the work away from them and brought it in house at NETL.

Have yourselves a great day.

Wednesday

Happy Birthday Brittany Talerico.

I would love to take this time out to wish my beautiful niece Brittany a very Happy Birthday today.

It seems like it was only yesterday that she was born, it's amazing how 34 years can go by in the very blink of an eye. It seems like just yesterday I was in the waiting room watching Who's the Boss and Kim and Ed was in the delivery room waiting for this bundle of joy. The amazing thing about all of this is that this remarkable young lady is now nine years older than me.

She is an amazing young woman, and I think she has found someone very special to her to spend this day with. Wouldn't you know, she just got married last weekend to the love of her life Matt. It's going to to start referring to her as Talerico rather than Cummings, but it will be a quick transition Mrs Talerico.

If you get a chance to see or talk to this marvelous young lady today, make sure that you take a little bit of time out and wish her the Happiest of Birthdays today.

 Happy Birthday, Brittany.

Monday

All good things must come to an end, but this is an exciting day to culminate the weekend fun and get back to business. Now we have to take our collective noses and stick them back onto that grindstone known as life and get back to doing what it is that we do for a living to make this a better rock to live on.

My co-workers are all caffeinated up and ready to go, I do have a pretty good office team to say the least, considering I work at home.

Looking at my week ahead I helped finishing up a project last week that I may be on some today, but we are getting ready to go all hands on a large project for a client. Hopefully this leads into us winning a few more contracts and be able to expand the workload in Geospatial services. I do have a couple of house managers who like to keep giving their opinions in meows and tweets as they drink coffee all day, such bossy pets.

So in a nutshell it's going to be a busy, but consistent week for me. Kiwi and Peanut will keep me hopping.

Have yourselves a great day.

Sunday

Here I sit in a quiet household, Kiwi is up expressing his opinion that he didn't get an invitation to Matt and Brittany's wedding yesterday. He stated that he is clearly her favorite bird and should not only have gotten an invitation but to be seated in a place of honor since he is her favorite bird. I had to explain it was a Human's only event.

Yesterday was a magical day as Michelle and I attended Matt and Brittany's wedding and reception. It was a beautiful ceremony and reception, I'm not going to post any actual wedding pics until I get the OK from the bride and groom considering they had a professional photographer there. Hayley and Tyler came down to attend and spend a little bit of time with us before heading back north for the evening.

Brittany looked absolutely stunning and I think she found a very good life partner to spend the rest of their lives together. It is a match made in heaven and you can tell these two are very much in love with each other. You can just tell they belong together just by the way they interact.

It was a good day.

Make today as special as yesterday.

Brittany and Matt's Wedding

Today has finally arrived, the day in which Brittany and Matt step in front of the preacher, friends and family and exchange their wedding vows and become Husband and Wife.

Today at Tuscan Ridge all of the planning and preparation have come to its conclusion and now we are at the point of execution. Today at 3:30 PM Matt and Brittany become Mr and Mrs Talerico.

Michelle and I will obviously be there, I would not miss Brittany's special day for anything. We went over yesterday evening for the rehearsal dinner, Kim had invited us to come over after work, although Michelle had been there all afternoon assisting. It was a time to run through a trial run for today's celebration.

I'll be there with my camera today, hoping to grab a few moments in time for this young couple. I'm not the official photographer, but I will be trying to grab a few special pictures of the event and the couple as the photographer ins concentrating on the commercial stuff.

Have a great day, this one os going to be special.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

Kiwi and Peanut are especially happy, because they know that tomorrow Lucy is going to be coming over and they can play with her all day. Lucy is staying here as tomorrow Brittany's and Matt's special day will have arrived and Lucy will be here while the wedding and reception is going on. Tonight Michelle and I will head to the venue for a rehearsal dinner. We got our invitation because the bride is a big fan of George's Journal and we have been invited this evening.

Now if you are looking for something to do tonight and you are a fan of High School Football. 4-2 Morgantown fresh off a loss last weekend will be hosting probably one of the best teams in the state this evening with Martinsburg. You can watch that game right here if you can't make it. After winning last week, 2-3 University High is traveling to Cnnnellsville to play them. and 3-3 Clay Battelle is traveling to Meadow Bridge to take them on. Should be a good night of action all around.

Now for some good news. Remember that tree that ended up giving my a concussion a couple of weeks ago? Well that one and the big one that is dying in the front yard was taken care of my Asplundh this week is preparation of the road widening and electrical pole moving that is planned. You should see the top of the hill going towards town, trailer court is gone, they are filling in large voids and removing trees. This is a much bigger project than what I thought it was going to be.

Have yourselves a great day and let's get these wedding festivities kicked off/

HI ho hi ho
