Mission Accomplished

Goals were set, a plan was put into place and all went off without a hitch. Hayley officially became Mrs. Tyler Ash this weekend and everything went very well. Her and Tyler are officially wed and they are officially on west coast, Sand Diego, for their honeymoon.

There was a special surprise that no one could have predicted or planned for. We held the wedding on Assateague Island, an island where wild ponies reside. This is their natural habitat and they do live there. As Hayley and I crossed the sand dune and looked to the ocean, there were 8 or 9 ponies just lined up by the ocean. They didn't move and just stood there until the ceremony was over. That's when a few of them decided they wanted to be a part of the party and broke their formation and almost as if it were on que, came and greeted everyone in a very friendly manner. One of the locals said it was a perfect day, as the ponies have not been on this beach for a couple of months but showed up on Hayley's wedding day. This was unexpected and just made her day.

I carried her Dad's remains in one arm and her in the other as Michelle and I gave her away to become Tyler's bride. I think it is one of the most honored that I have ever been in my life, that she allowed me to not only be a part of it, but in such an important role that I was honored to do. I am proud to call this young woman my daughter, oh and today also happens to be her Birthday. Reach out to her and wish this beautiful young lady a very happy birthday.

I want to thank any and all who were involved in this weekend, everything came together like clockwork and gave Hayley a very memorable wedding.

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out and look through all of the images that I have stored. Little lost moments in time that were either captured with a lens, scanned from an older picture or just stolen from some place on the internet. I like to select just one image and relive it here on my blog. Sometimes this is a pretty easy task and sometimes it's not that easy, then there are times when it is just a special moment like this one.

This weeks pic goes clear back to Tuesday of this week, Chad's Birthday and the day that Hayley and her boyfriend Josh officially became engaged. They are no longer boyfriend and girlfriend and have moved to the pre-marital status of engaged.

They have been together for a while now and have been living together for about a year. They have now made it official. No date has been set as of yet, but she now has a ring on her finger.

Congratulations Hayley and Josh.

Back To Work

Michelle, Hayley, Josh, Joe and Dusty
All good things must unfortunately come to an end, no matter how much we don't want them to. It's time to put then memories behind us and look forward to another fun filled week of work putting our noses to the grindstone. However before I do that how about a little bit of reflection on the weekend.

Being that yesterday was Hayley's Birthday, we invited her and Josh over for a cookout. Steaks is what she wanted (has anyone seen the price of beef the past couple of months?) and steaks is what we prepared. Surprisingly when we asked her what she wanted to drink, she wanted sweet tea which Michelle made.

We did a little bit of a scavenger hunt to make her get her birthday money, we hid clues all over the house and yard and made her chase them down to reap all of the rewards. I have posted the video at the end of this blog so that you can share her Scavenger Hunt Experience

We had our first racing Triple Crown Saturday as American Pharoah became horse racing's first Triple Crown winner since 1978. There has been numerous times that we were anticipating a winner, but 38 years later we finally have one.

Have a great day.

Sunday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit, waaay to early to wake up even for me, wide awake in the early AM suffering from what appears to be insomnia. I've been up for a couple of hours and am wide awake, which is rare for me at this time of the morning.

We ended up doing Christmas Shopping yesterday instead of doing our Christmas baking which we are putting off until today. Ran to Tanger Outlets and a few other places to get some Christmas Gifts.

Hayley and Josh stopped by last night and brought the newly groomed Gracie with her. She's not one who likes to sit still, but I did  manage to grab this shot of her.

Hayley did manage to put a few pictures up of her Christmas Tree. I think it looks really good, and the Santa Hat that sits atop of her tree was one that her Dad used to wear. We used to put it on top of Rich's ashes on our Mantle, but I think it has found a new home. I think her tree looks great, and we are also appreciative of her and Josh coming over when we were at work and decorating ours.

Today will actually be our baking day here at the household. Like I said yesterday we are not going to over do it this season, but it'll be nice to have some of my favorite cookies that I wait all year for in the house. It's just a chocolate chip cookie with butterscotch chips instead of Chocolate Chips. I love them and they are my all time favorite cookie.

Have a great day.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit once again, up early and the first one to recover from that dreadful losing battle with the Sandman. I swear yesterday morning I was woke up tires and was like that the entire day up until I went to bed.

Well todays schedule is going to be a tight one. We have a four hour window to move Hayley back in. U Haul only has the truck we need for a four hour window and we have to have it back by noon. Everything is ready to go here as Michelle and I have cleaned our old bedroom out and have it ready for her. Chad and Laiah are coming up to help, and they are both absolute work horses, so hopefully this shouldn't be much of a problem.

We did get some absolutely miraculous news yesterday about a family member. I'm still sitting her in total shock after being put in total shock with other news last week. I am using the utmost discrepancy as requested, but if you are close to the situation you are more than relieved today.

I've let my subscription to the Dominion Post online edition expire. We have purchased the year long subscription the last 3 or 4 years, and they have completely changed their format in the last month or so, making it pretty much user unfriendly. Being that we rarely ever use it, I did not renew for the year. If I want to read it, I can purchase a daily edition.

Have a Great Day!!

Monday

All good things must come to an end, and that includes the weekend. It's Monday morning, the time when we stick our noses back on the grindstones for a the week of work so we can pay our bills and have our fun on the weekends.

Michelle and I took a trip to the Apple Store in Pittsburgh yesterday to exchange the new iPhone 5 we purchased on Saturday. It was a WiFi connection problem that my phone had and hers didn't the new phone works just fine now ad they exchanged my phone for a new one that works properly.

We made a trip to Tanger Outlets as well, we both bought a pair of boots for the winter and we bought a few other things before heading to South Hills village and having lunch at Red Robin.

Chad and Laiah made it back from Texas last night where they spent the weekend to attend a wedding.

Congratulation to Hayley, she takes over both the BP Store and the Gloria Jeans as the store manager at the transit center today. She goes to salary and is required to put in 50 hours a week, but the good thing is it is not a 24/7 store. It opens early morning and closes early evening and is only open on Saturdays when there is a home football game and closed on Sunday. I would say the vast majority of their clients are people who park in the Van Voorhis lot for the day.
