Monday

All good things must come to an end, but this is an exciting day to end the weekend on. Now we have to take our collective noses and stick them back onto that grindstone known as life and get back to doing what it is that we do for a living to make this a better rock to live on.

Here we go yet once again with another fun-filled week. Nothing out of the ordinary for me this week that IO can see. Still working on the project that I have been working on the past few weeks. Peanut and Kiwi on the other hand are dressing a little more business formal this week, me I'm at home working in shorts and a tee shirt. They like to look all professional I guess.

Something I did over the weekend, I purchased one of Grandpa Hall's records. It's My Little Home in West Virginia and it's an old 78, meaning it is much more brittle than the vinyl ones we used to buy (33's and 45's). The 78 Grandpa Hall had a recording Machine where you would put in a blank disc and record right onto the dic. Only problem was, you got one shot and one shot only as the machine would cut the grooves into the record when you recorded. I'm hoping it will be here this week.

Have yourselves a great day

Sunday

Here I sit in a quiet household, Kiwi and Peanut are taking a snooze after being up for three days analyzing the NFL draft and what teams should select what players. They have really done their due diligence in helping all the NFL teams make the correct selections at the proper time. They worked together in Unison and were using my two work setups yesterday, both have dual monitors, and they just plugged my personal laptop into the docking station out in the living room. Now they are beaten and tired, and I can see them napping all day.

So what is on mine and Michelle's agenda? Nothing. No holidays, parties, luncheons or anything else to do, it could be a watch some movies kind of day. I was smart enough to cut the grass on Friday before the rain started. I saw a window of opportunity where I had an hour of sunshine and not evercast to knock it out before the rain started. It had grown pretty good over the previous 7 days with all the rain and then sunshine, I just wanted to stay ahead of it and managed to do just that.

Have yourselves a great day, do something and make it special and just be thankful that you have electricity this Sunday =)

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit yet once again in a semi-quiet household, Kiwi and Peanut have been really invested in watching the NFL draft the couple of days and I would imagine that that will continue through today and the end of the draft. They have been doing all kinds of analysis and trade scenarios as to who will be the next pick, who fits where and about anything a GM would do. I know I shouldn't have let them watch the movie Draft Day.

So hopefully by now everyone has their power restored. We here were fortunate as out power merely flickered a few times last Saturday Night, but many family members were without power clear up until Tuesday Evening and some Wednesday Morning. It's been 3 of the last 4 Saturdays where this has happened around here, we just were lucky enough to avoid the latest loss of power due to a storm surge.

So what is on our agenda today? I did the Sam's yesterday so all we have left to do is our weekly menu shopping, that and plan out the meals for the week. Michelle has been taking care of that, so I get the easy part of helping carry groceries down and putting them away.

Have yourselves a great day

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

Kiwi and Peanut are happy, they stayed up half the night waiting for a Mountaineer to be drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft, but that was all for naught as we move onto day 2 of the 3 day draft. We are hoping Wyatt Milum will be selected. At the start of last season he was believed to be a first round pick, but he seems to have dropped a little bit since then. He'll be drafted though, he was a 5 five-star prospect out of High School and has always been a solid Offensive Tackle, but could play Guard at the next level.

So what is on mine and Michelle's agenda for this weekend? I don't really know, hopefully the weather will be nice out and we can get out and do something fun. After being cooped up all winter, it's time for some outdoor activities. I actually mowed grass last friday for the first time this year, so we'll wait to see how the grass is doing before we make any mowing assessments.

Have yoursleves a great day.

Photo Flashback Thursday

Once a week I like to take a little bit of time out, time to look at some of the 30,000+ photos that I have stored on my computer. Little lost moments in time that I either captured with a lens, scanned or just stole from someplace on the internet. I like to find just one and post it up and recall or relive the picture to the best of my ability. Sometimes this is a pretty easy task and sometimes it's not that easy, one thing it has always been a lot of fun.

Looking at this picture tells me a lot. Look at my sister Kim sitting on the couch, I can almost read her mind. "Does he ever shut up" is what I am imagining her saying in her head.

Judging my the balloon on the TV I would guess this would have probably been Amy's Birthday party, which would be mid-march and if I were to guess the year I would say 1988. Dad had his camcorder out (see case) and Terri actually still had the old Adam Computer that we used for BST Hotline (I even remember the phone number, 296-3030.

Have yoursleves a great day

Monday

All good things must come to an end, but this is an exciting day to end the weekend on. Now we have to take our collective noses and stick them back onto that grindstone known as life and get back to doing what it is that we do for a living to make this a better rock to live on.

I had to correct Kiwi and Peanut's sign for them, they still had the Big Ole Hairy Friday sign up, not on a Monday. That is nothing short of wishful thinking..lol

Hopefully everything can get back to normal today, I only worked 4 hours on Friday (and 4 9's) to take half a day off and manage to get the grass cut for the first time this year, which I did. But that was Friday and this is Monday. I've got the home GIS crew ready to start working, they are getting really good at this stuff. Peanut does good, Kiwi though is just a one bill pecker on the keyboard.

I hope everyone had a great Easter. Michelle made a small ham and Kiwi made the deviled eggs (they were white rabbit eggs, not the chocolate kind) and Peanut finally figured out how to peel potatoes without making French Fries. Two multi-talented pets right there I got to tell you.

Looking at the week ahead, I found some open source data that is pretty robust for our purposes that is also pretty cheap. I ran it up the chain of command on aquiring this dataset which is mostly what the client is looking for.

Have yourselves a great day

Happy Easter

Here I sit in a semi-quiet household, Kiwi and Peanut are up having an absolute blast. They spotted the Easter Bunny running around hiding eggs and they wanted to go and find them all. Kiwi wonders why Rabbit eggs are hard boiled and decorated. It didn't take long to occupy him and change his train of thought.

Happy Easter Everyone. I hope today is a time for friendship, fellowship and family. A day where hams are cooked, deviled eggs are eaten and most importantly memories are created. From my family to your family we would like to wish you a Very Happy Easter.

So what was the big surprise I wouldn't talk about in yesterdays blog? Friday was my brother in law Jim's 70th Birthday and we had a surprise Birthday Party for him at his favorite restaurant the Grand China Buffet in the old Washington Mall. I didn't want to risk him reading my blog and messing up the surprise party.

Have yoursleves a great day and go make some special memories.

Saturday Morning Ramblings

Here I sit once again in a quiet household, Kiwi and Peanut are up and at em and they are starting our Easter Dinner for tomorrow. Kiwi has made the deviled eggs (he thinks they are Rabbit eggs instead of bird eggs, you know the whole species thing with him) and Peanut is peeling potatoes. She tried to do a couple with the claws in her paws, but we had to re-emphasize that these are for Mashed Potatoes instead of French fries. They are both so helpful, just please no one tell kiwi rabbits don't lay eggs, they just deliver them on Easter.

Our plans for the day? Can't really say anything yet, just in case one specific potential reader may have to stumble across this and figure it out. I'm not going to take any chances in tipping them off.

Other than that Michelle was off yesterday and I just worked half a day (worked longer days all week to get a few hours off with Michelle), so we did manage to get a lot of our running around done yesterday. It makes it nice, especially with this being a Holiday weekend.

Have yourselves a great day and enjoy yourselves.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

It is also Good Friday and Michelle is off with a holiday, maybe that is why the animals are celebrating, Mommy's home but Daddy's working. I see how they are.

Another week that has come and gone, it's time to take a step back and relax and celebrate. Kiwi and Peanut have decided they are ready to party, of course I think you all already knew that about them.

I'm getting a little antsy for the NFL draft, which doesn't begin until this coming Thursday night with the First round. I need my NFL Football fix, who the Steelers are drafting and are any Mountaineers are getting selected are my biggest questions leading into the draft. It's really the last of the Football news until Training Camp begins, so I need to get my fix in...lol

Have yourselves a great day.

This weeks pic is of my lovely wife Michelle. We had taken a trip down to Nick and Terri's for an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids. Nick grilled out as Nick likes to grill out. I can't tell by my pictures, but something tells me we had chicken that day, you know the ones that laid the plastic candy filled eggs for the kids to find.

Have yourselves a great day.

Monday

All good things must come to an end, but this is an exciting day to end the weekend on. Now we have to take our collective noses and stick them back onto that grindstone known as life and get back to doing what it is that we do for a living to make this a better rock to live on.

As a heads up, if you have not done your taxes yet for 2024,  they are due at midnight tomorrow so you might want to get on top of that and get them done. We did ours a few weeks ago and surprisingly got money back from both Federal and State. When I figured in my vehicle tax paid it took me from owing the state to getting money back from the state, so I was quite happy about that.

Still working on the same project at work, we're pretty much gathering information for another project that we are going to put together before we do any analysis on it. A lot of them are easy to obtain, but there are a couple of things needed that just are not in the public domain universally. For example I can pull up any type of aquatic information that I need in West Virginia (Pipelines, sewage, etc) but not so much in the targeted area out west. It's a challenge. I may just stick Kiwi on it.

Have yourselves a great day

Sunday

Here we are all sitting on a quiet Sunday Morning, the poker game from yesterday is about to wrap up as Gracie will be heading home later today. She didn't play any cards with them as she has her own greenies and wasn't gambling them away for bird seeds or cat nip. They did however have a nice visit, Hayley and Tyler will pick her up this morning when they drop a friends son off back home here in Morgantown. It was a good day as Michelle went and played with Giraffes.

So what is on today's agenda? We already have our grocery shopping done, so just a few chores around the house, and that will pretty much be it. It may just be a relaxing day, but recently, that has been subjected to change more than not.

College Football is done for the year, College Basketball is done for the year, there is still College Baseball and we are having a good season so far, so there is a lot to be excited about as far as sports for me. Not really an NBA or NHL guy and the Pirates have pretty much sucked since the early 90's less a couple of years, so I never get too excited about them especially with the bad ownership that they have. I used to be heavy into NASCAR, but not really since Dale Earnhardt died. Could be a nap kind of day.

Have yourselves a great day.

Saturday

Here I sit in a quiet household, Kiwi and Peanut have been up all night playing cards and talking trash to each other. Peanut is gambling her Catnip and Kiwi is wagering his Peanuts (as in the nut). I'm not sure what either one of them are going to do with their winnings, personally I think they are going to trade them in for treats. Something tells me this is going to be a marathon card game today with these two. Gracie is also here for the weekend as Hayley and Tyler are up in Ohio visiting a friend, so Michelle and I have Gracie.

Michelle will be heading up north today to go to Elwood City, or somewhere close up there. It's Maddies birthday and I think Jon and Laura have a day planned at Keystone Safari. Michelle got her some really nice things plus she got this large painting of a giraffe as Maddie loves Giraffes (no idea where she got that from...lol).

They now have the other bridge built as a detour and cars are going across it, so the old bridge is in the process of being removed and widened into the yard. They are straightening out Van Voorhis Road, so I am a little excited to watch this project progress over the next few months. It just means I'll have less grass to mow...lol

So what is on my agenda for the day, well Michelle is leaving early this morning, so it might just be me doing all of the grocery shopping this weekend. Unless she does it when she gets back. It's too wet to mow plus it is going to rain this afternoon and to be honest with you last time I mowed I gave myself a consushion so I would prefer Michelle at least be here when I mow just in case something like that would happen again.

Have yourselves a great day.

Big Ole Hairy Friday

Yes, it is once again that time of the week that we all look forward to when we can take time to cease the labors for the week and take a little bit of needed time out to enjoy the fruits of those labors. It is again the dawn of another weekend and a Big Ole Hairy Friday.

There’s a certain kind of magic in the air when the weekend is just around the corner. You can feel it creeping in as early as Thursday afternoon—the collective energy shift, the hopeful glances at the clock, the group chats bubbling with “what’s the plan?” vibes. Whether you’re planning to go full introvert with a cozy blanket and a Netflix queue, or you’ve got back-to-back brunches and bonfires lined up, the ritual of getting ready for the weekend deserves its own little celebration.

It was nice to get back to work again, now I get to actually enjoy a weekend after a week of working, that's always a good feeling. I was off about a week and a half, but that can get real boring real quick.

Have yourselves a great day

This weeks pic goes back almost 10 years (Seriously!?!?!?!?!?). This was when we taped our last Trivia Championship, we are at KDKA studios sitting outside. You'll notice I was in dress pants and dress shoes rather than tennis shoes and shorts like Chris, Alex and Randy. Why? My niece Brittany was Graduating from WVU that afternoon, and I remember telling Bob Pompeani to lets get this thing going I have places to be...lol

After this picture, the Steelers Jersey went off, the dress shirt and tie went on and off to Morgantown and the WVU Coliseum to see Brittany's Graduation.

Have yourselves a great day.

Happy Birthday Terri Rehmani

I would like to take this opportunity to wish my amazing sister Terri a very Happy Birthday today, by my count she is still just 21, but I never use traditional calendars and use my own unique temporal measuring system.

Terri just finished up a big winning battle with Breast Cancer last year. She is a strong and inspiring woman and now she has the title of Breast Cancer Survivor to go along with everything else. She is a strong and inspiring woman to say the least.

Terri is one of the most unselfish and amazing person you could ever meet or come across. If you have someone like this in your life you're pretty lucky and I'm pretty lucky. It was her that picked me up at the lowest point in my life and dusted me off and put me on the right path despite me having the fears that I had at that time, that makes her pretty damned amazing in my book and I'm thankful she is my sister.

Not sure if anyone will see Terri today, but if you are fortunate enough take a little bit of time out and wish her a very Happy Birthday today.

Happy Birthday, Terri.

Well it seems like we have about a months worth of work with Parsons now, I thought I was going to have about 20 hours a week for the month of April set aside, but that project is still on hold (so much red tape and BS going on) that they have found something else that they need ny help on. Not associated with what I have been doing, but I am not complaining it's just more line items to build your resume on. Kiwi and Peanut are excited as well. I think we are meeting on this project this morning, and it is with someone I have never worked with before, so it's a waiting game. I have something else in the works as well outside of Parsons, so we'll have to just wait and see.

Kiwi and Peanut are up and at em already, they have been bored sitting around, they were actually sewing this past weekend. Peanut likes it, but Kiwi it is kind of hard to work the foot pedal and hold and guide the fabric. Maybe I can find something for his  to do in the garage this coming weekend. Straighten up my tools, move the compressor back to iot's station, run the leaf blower to push any of the dust that may have accumulated over the winter. Those kinds of tasks.

Have yourselves a great day

Sunday

Here I sit once again in a non-quiet household. Kiwi and Peanut are playing a game of Yahtzee, and I think Kiwi is cheating. All I keep hearing him say is Yahtzee, Yahtzee, Yahtzee, like no bird is that lucky where he keeps rolling Yahtzee on the first roll every time. Peanut is getting frustrated, and I am checking Kiwi's Amazon Alexa purchases, and I am seeing he has ordered a few sets of loaded Yahtzee dice. I have to agree with Peanut; he is definitely cheating, and his slight of wing has kept the other dice hidden. Peanut keeps reminding him that she is the Chess Grand Master and doesn't need to cheat.

So what is on our agenda for this day? Nothing, absolutely nothing. It's raining and that looks like the forecast for a few days, I guess the April Showers bring May flowers so they say. I just don't want the weeds to get too tall before I get a chance to cut them down.

Michelle got the shopping done yesterday morning, as well as a bunch of other running around. She forgot her AirPods at work, so she just had to run up there, and wouldn't you know it, she had a coupon for Michaels, which is right beside her office.

Have yourselves a great day, make it a special one.

Saturday

Here I sit once again in a quiet household. Kiwi and Peanut decided that they were going to use their talents this morning to assist Michelle in making a themed curtain to go across the fireplace for her Easter decorations. They make a pretty good team and managed to sew something that she will be able to use. I'm telling you these are two multi-talented and amazing pets.

So what exactly is on today's agenda? Grocery shopping for one, then Michelle is talking about taking that curtain that Peanut and Kiwi made for her and stretching it across the fireplace and finish decorating the mantle.

It's getting closer and closer to the time when I am going to fire up the lawn tractor and start cutting grass, but we are not quite there yet but we're getting closer. Michelle wants a fuller lawn, so may be I'll cut it on a higher blade height when we actually do go out and get started. The garage has went all winter pretty much untouched, time to start thinking about cleaning up and organizing that for the summer.

The WVU Spring game is today, tickets are free but you have to get them in advance. For the first time in a long time it is not going to be broadcast, which in today's world of college football I can understand. The transfer portal and teams poaching players, why risk anything.

I will once again be doing the Sam's Club shopping this week, it gives Michelle a break from doing it after work and gives me and the Pets a chance to get out of the house and do something constructive. I think they like this getting out of the house, but Kiwi was complaining that there is no seed section and said he would rather go to Petsmart. Peanut is indifferent and in a different world altogether.

So no big plans for the weekend, even though we are now in the month of April. I know April Showers bring may flowers, and that also means it is going to be time to fire up the lawn tractor pretty soon. My guess is our yard is going to me a mess this year as they have the temporary bridge up and will begin construction on building the new permanent bridge on my side of the road. Just means I have less grass to cut.

Have yourselves a great day.

This weeks pic is this past October, it was Brittany and Matt's wedding and Hayley and Tyler came down to enjoy the festivities. It was a fantastic day filled with food, dancing, music and the joining of two very special people into the bonds of matrimony.

I grabbed this pic as I think we were waiting for our turn to get in the food line for our Prime Rib.

Have yourselves a great day.
